Nothing says “reasoned‚ valid legal analysis” like Colorado’s Secretary of State coming on MSNBC to congratulate Maine for throwing former President Donald Trump off the ballot. Additionally‚ she placed undue public pressure on the United States Supreme Court by  Watch as the partisan secretary of state partisanly urges the Supreme Court to keep Trump off the ballot by upholding Colorado’s ruling: CHARLES COLEMAN‚ JR.: Are you looking forward‚ in a way‚ to the Supreme Court getting involved?  JENA GRISWOLD: I’m looking forward to certainty. My job as Secretary of State is to make sure that Coloradans have great elections. Republicans‚ Democrats‚ unaffiliateds alike. And I have to certify who will be on the ballot next week Friday for the presidential primary. So we are really urging the courts to act quickly‚ and whether that means they decide not to review or they do review the case‚ well‚ that's up to them. But I also agree with Secretary Bellows in Maine and the Colorado Supreme Court. They’ve gotten it right. Donald Trump engaged in an insurrection‚ and because of that he should be disqualified by the Constitution from appearing on any ballot or serving as President again. Colorado’s Secretary of State‚ Jena Griswold‚ appeared on MSNBC’s The ReidOut in order to talk about Maine‚ Colorado‚ and Congresswoman Lauren Boebert’s decision to run in another district. She was there to defend the decision to kick Trump off the ballot and to make her own ruling on insurrection. Unfortunately‚ she was also there to preemptively delegitimize the United States Supreme Court ahead of the 2024 Trump docket. With host Charles Coleman’s assent‚ Griswold made multiple statements asserting that hers (and Colorado’s) was the right rationale and that the court should quickly uphold Colorado's ruling. Interestingly enough‚ she doesn’t mention the stay of the Colorado ruling pending SCOTUS review. The parallels are troubling: as in Dobbs‚ the left and the media are out in front of a SCOTUS ruling. As in Dobbs‚ there is the potential for violence if the Court rules against the mob. And as in Dobbs‚ the media are platforming these voices instigating delegitimization and violence. Towards the end of the segment‚ Griswold broke down Rep. Lauren Boebert’s decision to switch congressional districts for 2024. Here‚ again‚ the person responsible for a state’s vote count is offering partisan takes on elections that she will later certify.  That’s unnerving. At MSNBC‚ it’s reasoned legal analysis.  

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows has ruled that former President Donald Trump's primary petition is "invalid‚" though she also suspended the impact of her decision‚ which means that it may never take effect.In the ruling‚ she claimed that evidence showed "the falsity of Mr. Trump's declaration that he meets the qualifications of the office of the presidency. Therefore‚ as required ... I find that the primary petition of Mr. Trump is invalid‚" she noted. "I will suspend the effect of my decision until the Superior Court rules on any appeal‚ or the time to appeal ... has expired.""I am mindful that no Secretary of State has ever deprived a presidential candidate of ballot access based on Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment. I am also mindful‚ however‚ that no presidential candidate has ever before engaged in insurrection‚" Bellows wrote.The Trump campaign has vowed to swiftly challenge the decision. "We will quickly file a legal objection in state court to prevent this atrocious decision in Maine from taking effect‚" spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement.After the House of Representatives voted in favor of impeaching Trump in the wake of the January 6‚ 2021‚ Capitol riot‚ Bellows expressed disappointment that the Senate vote fell short of the threshold needed to convict. "He should have been impeached. But history will not treat him or those who voted against impeachment kindly‚" she tweeted. Trump was no longer in office at the time the Senate vote occurred. — (@) But Bellows has claimed that her opinions about January 6 did not influence her ruling. "My decision is based exclusively on the record before me‚ and it has in no way been influenced by my political affiliation or personal views about the events of January 6‚ 2021‚" she wrote.Earlier this month‚ the Colorado Supreme Court declared that Trump should not be included on the presidential primary ballot‚ though the court stayed its decision until January 4‚ noting‚ "If review is sought in the Supreme Court before the stay expires‚ it shall remain in place‚ and the Secretary will continue to be required to include President Trump's name on the 2024 presidential primary ballot until the receipt of any order or mandate from the Supreme Court."The Colorado Republican Party has sought Supreme Court review.Like Blaze News?
