Talk about new federal stimulus checks arriving before the end of the year continues to spread across social media and unverified websites. But there is no evidence such payments are coming in 2025. Stimulus checks are direct cash payments that the federal government issues only when Congress approves financial relief for Americans, typically during periods of economic instability.

Australia is pulling the plug on its teens' social media habits. The country enacted the world's first ban on social media for children under 16 this week, threatening tech giants with multi-million-dollar fines if they fail to take "reasonable steps" to kick underage users off their platforms.
