The flareup between President Trump and Colombian President Gustavo Petro took a downturn Monday night. Petro said flat out that his top goal was to find an ‘off ramp’ from President Trump for the world. But when the interviewer suggested that surely meant striking the best deal with President Trump for the Colombian people… Petro doubled-down on what he REALLY meant. He leaned forward in his seat, and with a sharp snap of his fingers for dramatic effect, the Colombian President suggested something far less diplomatic in nature. “Get rid of Trump…” Coming from a man that the US President just called a South American ‘drug leader’… That may prove to have been the least wise approach, historically speaking. Rep. Carlos Gimenez, who sits on both the Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees in the House, was one of those speaking out. I'm leaning on Gimenez' comments partly because he does not have the language barrier that I have. This is a man whose first language is Spanish -- so I trust his take even more than Grok's translation. Not only is Rep. Gimenez calling on the U.S. to take Petro's threat seriously... It may be the instance getting the most press, but check this out... After that, Petro took up the calling card of the 'No Kings' crowd and suggested ANOTHER threat against President Trump's life! He suggested President Trump is a wanna-be king, using that as a springboard to suggest for a SECOND time how the US President might be gotten 'rid of' --  as reported by the New York Post: Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro mused about getting “rid of” President Trump in a shocking interview — as a bitter feud over Trump’s crackdown on drugs intensifies. “The easiest way may be through Trump himself,” Petro added. “If not — get rid of Trump,” he continued, snapping his fingers dramatically. The South American leader admitted that his country is “out of control,” but argued that Bogotá is run by its people and not a “king.” “Trump said: ‘Colombia is out of control.’ Of course, it is out of his control. In a democracy, a government is under the control of the people, not Trump. He is not a king in Colombia; we do not accept kings here, period,” Petro vented. “In the 21st century, some believe they can become kings and viceroys, but in republics, it is not possible,” he later said. “Here, the heads of kings are cut off if they come with a king’s attitude.” A feud between the two world leaders has been simmering since the Trump administration’s September strike on an alleged drug boat. Trump said the attack killed “confirmed narcoterrorists from Venezuela” who were in international waters at the time. Petro, however, claimed that the boat was a Colombian vessel and was used for fishing and not the transportation of drugs. “US government officials have committed a murder and violated our sovereignty in territorial waters,” Petro wrote on X, per a translation. “The Colombian boat was adrift and had its distress signal up due to an engine failure. “We await explanations from the US government.” That's hard to take out of context. It seems pretty obvious that Colombian President Gustavo Petro is openly talking about different ways to 'get rid of' President Trump. Yesterday -- before this interview came out -- Sen. Bernardo Moreno (born in Colombia!) came out swinging against Petro. The recently recalled Colombian Ambassador to the US, the top US diplomat to Colombia, and Petro himself apparently sat down together. The outcome of which sounds a lot more diplomatic than the assassination and overthrow threats Petro has been popping off with. Still, I have to wonder if the US brass was even aware of Petro's inflammatory remarks from the Univision interview prior to this meeting reported by Bloomberg on Yahoo Finance: The meeting, described by Colombia’s foreign ministry in a statement Tuesday morning as “long, honest and constructive,” involved President Gustavo Petro, his envoy to Washington, Daniel García-Peña, and US Chargé d’Affaires John McNamara. “Both countries agreed that this is the first step toward resolving the current impasse in bilateral relations and that further meetings will be held” with the aim of “improving anti-drug strategies,” the foreign ministry said. The meeting came days after President Donald Trump denounced Petro as an “illegal drug leader” and said the US would halt all aid to the South American nation and impose fresh tariffs. In a key symbol of de-escalation after the initial talks, García-Peña announced he was immediately returning to his post in Washington after being recalled by Petro. Still, the threat of economic penalties hasn’t yet been lifted. No new tariff rates have been announced, despite Trump saying they would come Monday. But McNamara stressed in the meeting with Petro that the final decision on the issue depends “exclusively” on the US president. As of this report, President Trump hasn't responded to the situation following today's meeting. Nor has he commented on Gustavo's comments during the interview on Univision. I'm waiting to see whether the positivity coming out of this morning's diplomatic meetup will survive the aftershocks of Petro's interview performance. This is a developing story with potentially explosive implications as the Trump Administration ramps up operations against the cartels. And as always, we'll bring you more as the situation develops.

Things aren’t looking good for one J6er. A man who was previously pardoned by President Trump after entering the Capitol on January 6th, was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. The J6er has been identified as Christopher Moynihan, and court documents reveal he allegedly sent text messages to another individual saying he was going to “eliminate” Jeffries. CBS News had further details to add on Moynihan’s arrest: A pardoned Capitol rioter was arrested last weekend for allegedly threatening to kill House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Court documents obtained by CBS News said Christopher Moynihan was arrested Sunday after saying in text messages that he planned to “eliminate” Jeffries when the top House Democrat spoke at an event in New York City on Monday. Jeffries spoke at the Economic Club of New York on Monday. According to a court filing by prosecutors in the New York state criminal case, Moynihan wrote, “Hakeem Jeffries makes a speech in a few days in NYC I cannot allow this terrorist to live.” Moynihan also allegedly stated: “Even if I am hated, he must be eliminated, I will kill him for the future,” the filing said. This is 43-year-old pardoned Jan 6 rioter Chris Moynihan. Moynihan has now been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill @hakeemjeffries. According the court docs Moynihan texted: “I cannot allow this terrorist to live… I will kill him for the future.” pic.twitter.com/BdlVprUMtZ — Maine (@TheMaineWonk) October 21, 2025 The DOJ reported on Moynihan previously conviction: A New York man was sentenced on a felony charge for his actions during the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. His actions and the actions of others disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the presidential election. Christopher Patrick Moynihan, 32, of Salt Point, New York, was sentenced yesterday to 21 months in prison. Moynihan was found guilty, on August 23, 2022, of obstruction of an official proceeding, a felony. He also pleaded guilty to a total of five related misdemeanor charges. In addition to the prison term, Judge Christopher R. Cooper ordered 36 months of supervised release and restitution of $2,000. According to the stipulated facts presented at trial, on Jan. 6, 2021, Moynihan was among rioters who broke through the security perimeter on the east side of the Capitol Building. He joined rioters outside the Rotunda Door, and at approximately 2:40 p.m., was among those who entered the building. At approximately 2:45 p.m., he briefly entered the Senate Gallery. Several minutes later, he entered the Senate Chamber. While in the Senate Chamber, Moynihan paged through a notebook on top of a Senator’s desk, taking out papers, and taking pictures with his cellphone. While looking through the papers, he said, “There’s gotta be something in here we can f—- use against these —-bags.” Moynihan then walked down to the Senate well, where he stood adjacent to an elevated desk and platform. He stood with a group of rioters who shouted, cheered, and said prayers with a bullhorn. At approximately 3:08 p.m., law enforcement officers cleared the Senate Chamber and Moynihan was escorted out of the Capitol Building. This case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.
