Co-founder say Chicago can continue without original members
Formed in Chicago, Illinois back in 1967, their first name was Chicago Transit Authority but later on they became known only as Chicago. With many line-up changes along the way, the group has been on the road for almost six decades and at the moment has only three original members. They are: Robert Lamm (Keyboardist), Lee Loughnane (Trumpeter) and James Pankow (Trombonist).
In an interview with UCR Podcast, Lee Loughnane said that "it makes a lot of sense" that the group could continue without any original members in the future when they are gone.
Co-founder say Chicago can continue without original members
"I don't see why it won't continue onward, in the fact that the music has really sustained us. That's really why we're still on the road." The group continues on the road in 2025 and announced more than 60 shows already.
"Who knows why (the fans) come to the show. They might come to see these guys who have been together so long. I want to see how bad it's going to be. They can't possibly be better than they were when (we) were kids."
"When they find out we can still play well and it's a really good show, they want to come back again. This has happened where we inspired other generations of people to come in, even when they couldn't admit to their friends that they liked us. They liked it and came to the shows. So it's really, I think, attributed to the music and how we perform consistently year after year, " Lee Loughnane said.
