The ACM Awards Are Returning To Las Vegas In 2026

Viva Las Vegas. The awards show season might be done for 2025, but news regarding the 2026 season is rounding out the year HOT. The start of the year always kicks off with a bang, given the Grammy Awards are held in February of each year, which should be a great night for country music with the addition of the new Best Traditional Country Album category, which highlights Charley Crockett, Margo Price, Lukas Nelson, Willie Nelson and Zach Top as nominees. While I am very interested to see who takes home the Grammy Award for that, just a few months after the Grammys, country music has a night dedicated to celebrating other stellar artists in the genre at the ACM Awards. And this year, they are boot scootin’ and booging the awards show to a new location. After being hosted in Frisco, Texas, for the last three years, the ACM Awards announced they are returning to Las Vegas for the 61st annual awards show in 2026. “You know what happens in Vegas… the 61st #ACMawards! Returning LIVE Sunday, May 17, 2026 from the @mgmgrand in Las Vegas!” View this post on Instagram The show will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Country music fans can stream the show live on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch. The return to Las Vegas is to the show’s old stomping ground; before they moved to Texas in 2022, the awards programs were hosted there for 16 years. Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music, shared the following statement: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to return to MGM Grand for the 61st ACM Awards next May, a place that holds a lot of history and special memories for the Academy. It truly feels like a homecoming for us. There’s no better place to host an exciting, global Country Music celebration than fabulous Las Vegas!” Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, added: “2026 is going to be a very special year for the ACMs, and partnering with MGM Resorts strengthens our deep commitment to delivering world-class entertainment and experiences for Country Music fans and partners alike.” This is a big move for the awards show after establishing a stellar reputation in Texas, so I am very interested to see how they will combine the glitz and glamour of Sin City with the grit of country music. More information about the awards show will be released in the coming months, including the host, performers, and nominees. I will say that after having Reba host last year’s awards, whoever is filling her shoes will be a tough act to follow. Before you go, check out some of the performances from the 2025 ACM Awards. Brooks & Dunn and Cody Johnson performing “Red Dirt Road.” Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley performing “Kerosene.”  The post The ACM Awards Are Returning To Las Vegas In 2026 first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

World Health Organization issues first-ever guidelines for use of GLP-1 weight loss medications

The World Health Organization on Monday released new guidance on GLP-1 medications for adults with obesity, recommending their long-term, continuous use when clinically appropriate. The medications covered include semaglutide (Wegovy), liraglutide (Saxenda) and tirzepatide (Zepbound). The recommendations, published in the medical journal JAMA, emphasize that these medications alone are not a solution to treating the global obesity epidemic. Obesity is a chronic disease that needs lifelong care and is best treated with long-term GLP-1 use combined with a structured program that includes healthy eating, regular movement and ongoing counseling to lose and maintain weight loss, according to the WHO...

WHO backs use of GLP-1 therapies for obesity, warns access will remain limited

The World Health Organization on Monday issued its first guideline on the use of GLP-1 therapies for obesity, conditionally recommending them as part of long-term treatment for the condition, which affects more than 1 billion people globally according to the agency. Reuters first reported that the WHO was likely to take this step earlier this year. The guidance comes as demand for the class of drugs known as GLP-1 agonists has surged worldwide, and governments are figuring out how to include the blockbuster therapies into public health systems...

Fresh, alarming warnings about Ozempic-like drugs — beware these 'unusual changes'

Popular drugs like Zepbound and Wegovy that promise a slimmer profile can trigger much more than weight loss. These medications can spur a slew of potential side effects, like nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, headaches and changes to the skin. One possible consequence is especially dire for the 10 million Americans using GLP-1s...
