President Donald Trump threatened to strip Boston of its status as host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following an eruption of public unrest. “If somebody is doing a bad job, and I feel there are unsafe conditions, I would call Gianni, who’s head of FIFA,” Trump said Wednesday. “I would say, ‘Let’s move into another location,’ and he would do that.” Last week, over 100 people took over a Boston street, setting off fireworks and illegally racing. According to prosecutors, the event appeared to be mass-coordinated, where “drivers perform burnouts, donuts, and illegal street races, often live-streaming the activities.” The event ended with a police cruiser erupting in flames. Trump added that he would take the same action in California if he felt Los Angeles wasn’t prepared to host the 2028 Olympics. To prepare for 2026, President Trump assembled the FIFA World Cup Task Force through executive order. He instructed the task force to coordinate with executive agencies and assist with the planning, organization, and execution of events surrounding the World Cup.  FIFA President Gianni Infantino expects the tournament to generate $40 billion in economic activity and create 200,000 jobs. When announcing the task force, Trump and Infantino emphasized safety and hospitality. “It’s important that everyone coming to America feels safe and welcome,” Infantino said. In an effort to prepare Boston to become a host city, President Trump offered to send the National Guard to Boston, but claimed Mayor Michelle Wu would not accept “because she thinks it’s bad politically.” “Boston is honored and excited to host World Cup matches,” Boston Mayor Michelle Wu told The Daily Wire. “We look forward to welcoming fans from around the world to our beautiful city, the cradle of liberty and city of champions.” Senator Elizabeth Warren weighed in on the dispute in an interview with Bloomberg, saying, “Michelle Wu is doing a terrific job.” “Donald Trump doesn’t like anyone who doesn’t bend the knee, so frankly I’m not surprised that he’s trying to pick some sort of fight with Michelle Wu, but I don’t think it’s going to work,” Warren said. Including Boston, the 2026 FIFA World Cup secured 16 host cities: 11 in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada. To finalize host status, each city signed a legally binding contract with FIFA, outlining the rights, responsibilities, and obligations. In 2023, the Seattle City Council released its Host City Agreement, which contains a clause titled “Revocation of Host City Selection.” The clause states that FIFA’s host city selection assumes the city will meet “all requirements and act in full compliance with its obligations resulting from, or in connection with, this Host City Agreement.” If the city fails to meet its obligations, FIFA reserves the right to revoke host status. Meaning, if Trump requests FIFA intervene, President Infantino could potentially invoke this clause and argue that Boston no longer meets its contractual requirements. The City of Boston could then contest the decision in court. “We hope every one of our 16 host cities will be ready to successfully host and fulfil all necessary requirements,” a FIFA spokesperson said following Trump’s comments. “Safety and security are the top priorities at all FIFA events worldwide.” “Safety and security are obviously the governments’ responsibility, and they decide what is in the best interest for public safety,” the spokesperson added.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have arrested dozens of illegal immigrants carrying commercial driver’s licenses, including one who has a previous arrest, The Daily Wire has learned. In total, ICE arrested 91 illegal immigrant truck drivers with the help of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol during traffic stops along I-40 in western Oklahoma over a three-day operation last month. Most of the illegal immigrants who were pulled over had commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) from California, New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. The majority were let into the country under President Joe Biden. One of the illegal immigrants arrested on the major interstate was not only released into the United States under the Biden administration’s “catch-and-release” policy, but also had a second chance after a previous arrest in New York for forgery, the Department of Homeland Security told The Daily Wire. Russian illegal immigrant Firuz Khamidov, 36, was driving an 18-wheeler with a commercial driver’s license from the sanctuary state of Illinois when he was pulled over on September 25. He was arrested by the New York Police Department in 2023 and wasn’t taken into ICE custody due to the Biden administration’s lax immigration enforcement policies at the time, according to DHS. Khamidov crossed the border illegally on February 21, 2022, near Calexico, California, and was paroled into the U.S. on April 6, 2022. He crossed the border illegally on January 31, 2024, near Tecate, California, and was released into the United States that same day. Kumar crossed the border illegally on April 30, 2023, near San Luis, Arizona, and was released into the U.S. that same day. Singh crossed the border illegally on April 7, 2023, near Lukeville, Arizona, and was released into the interior of the United States that same day. The man behind the wheel of the semi tractor-trailer, Indian national Harjinder Singh, 35, made an illegal U-turn and killed three people on a Florida turnpike. Since then, the Trump administration has instituted a crackdown on the issuance of CDLs to illegal immigrants. The Department of Transportation launched an audit of states that issue CDLs and instituted an English-language requirement for truckers. “What our team has discovered should disturb and anger every American,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said. “Licenses to operate a massive, 80,000-pound truck are being issued to dangerous foreign drivers — often times illegally,” Duffy added. “This is a direct threat to the safety of every family on the road, and I won’t stand for it. Today’s actions will prevent unsafe foreign drivers from renewing their license and hold states accountable to immediately invalidate improperly issued licenses.”

California gubernatorial candidate Betty Yee, a Democrat, told host Piers Morgan that she would be in favor of considering a “gender neutral” Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028, arguing that trans-identifying female athletes are women and that biological women would be fine competing against them. Yee made the comments on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” just days after one of her competitors, former Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), landed in hot water over two viral videos — one of which showed her berating a staffer, and the other a testy exchange with a CBS News reporter in which she refused to answer any follow-up questions.
