The republican governor of Alabama has been hospitalized. Governor Kay Ivey has been hospitalized after suffering pain on the left side of her body. Afte being evaluated it was revealed fluid had built up in Ivey’s lung. CBS 42 reported more on Ivey’s current health status: Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey is recovering in the hospital after undergoing a procedure to remove fluid that was pushing against one of her lungs. Ivey, 81, underwent a procedure at Baptist South in Montgomery Tuesday afternoon and is currently recovering in the hospital, where she is expected to stay for a few days. Gov. Ivey’s health has been a talking point for years On Tuesday night, Ivey spokesperson Gina Maiola released the following statement: “For the last three weeks, Governor Kay Ivey has experienced some discomfort in her left side. After monitoring the pain and recently feeling slightly short-of-breath, she made the decision to be seen again by her primary care physician earlier today. After he recommended she be evaluated by a surgeon at Baptist Medical Center South, it was determined there was some fluid pushing against her lung. “While it was not emergent, Governor Ivey wanted to get the procedure done as soon as possible so she can quickly get back to 100% to wrap up the 2026 Regular Session. This afternoon, the governor successfully underwent a minor procedure at Baptist South to remove that fluid. Out of an abundance of caution, she will be monitored at Baptist South in the coming days. “We are in touch with Governor Ivey, and she says she is determined to make a very speedy and full recovery.”

This was quick. And quite unexpected. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Katie Zacharia has resigned from her position. Zacharia’s departure comes just weeks after she was selected for the job. The Hill reported more on Zacharia’s departure: Katie Zacharia on Tuesday said she was leaving her role as a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and deputy assistant of public affairs after being assigned the role in mid-February. “I joined @DHSgov with a genuine passion for supporting @realDonaldTrump @POTUS in his decisive and effective policies to secure our homeland, be a voice for the precious Angel Families, and an advocate for the men and women of @ICEgov,” Zacharia wrote in a post on X. “I look forward to continuing that work in other capacities,” she added. The frequent Fox News commentator was known as a hardline Trump supporter prior to joining DHS. Fox News had these details to share on McLaughlin’s departure: Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin is leaving the Trump administration, Fox News has confirmed. McLaughlin, one of the administration’s most vocal defenders of President Trump’s immigration enforcement policies, is set to leave the administration next week. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem posted on X Tuesday confirming her departure, saying McLaughlin served with “exceptional dedication, tenacity, and professionalism.” “Tricia McLaughlin has served with exceptional dedication, tenacity, and professionalism as Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland. She has played an instrumental role in advancing our mission to secure the homeland and keep Americans safe,” Noem wrote. “While we are sad to see her leave, we are grateful for her service and wish Tricia nothing but success.”

Legendary guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, who is a former member of the band Fleetwood Mac, was assaulted in Santa Monica, CA early this morning. After he arrived for an appointment, the 76-year-old musician was attacked by a woman who threw an “unknown substance” at him. Thankfully, he was not hurt. The San Francisco Chronicle reported further: The 76-year-old former Fleetwood Mac guitarist was doused with an “unknown substance” by a woman when he walked into the Santa Monica building on Wednesday, April 1, according to NBC4 Investigates. Authorities told the outlet that the woman, who is being regarded as a stalking suspect, has been involved in past run-ins with Buckingham. It’s unclear what type of appointment he was attending, but police believe she coordinated her attack with his scheduled engagement. Buckingham was not injured in the incident, law enforcement told NBC4 Investigates, and no arrests have been made. The incident comes days after Buckingham began teasing a reunion with his ex-lover and former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Stevie Nicks. Last year, the two previously reconciled to reissue their 1973 album “Buckingham Nicks,” their only studio release as a duo. Two years ago, Buckingham got a restraining order against a stalker. But, at this time, we don’t know if this woman was that same person or not. Fox News noted: Buckingham was granted a permanent restraining order against an alleged stalker in December 2024. It’s unclear if the case is connected to the recent reported attack. The 2024 restraining order was issued by a Los Angeles judge after Buckingham testified in court and presented evidence, according to The Blast. The woman, identified only as Michelle, had allegedly been harassing Buckingham and his family since 2021. The musician claimed in his petition that Michelle had made threats to kill him and his family. At the time, he wrote he was worried the alleged stalker’s “conduct may escalate into something physically dangerous to me and my family.” Crazy stuff. Pray for his safety.

The New York Post has more: The “fearless” federal prosecutor will now work closely with DOJ colleagues and Vice President JD Vance, who chair’s President Trump’s fraud task force — after serving for more than a decade as an assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of California. “Colin McDonald is a great choice and will be a key asset in the War on Fraud,” Vance told The Post. “The Task Force to Eliminate Fraud will help coordinate the interagency effort to root out and identify fraudsters, and separately, Colin will have nationwide jurisdiction at the Justice Department to prosecute the bad guys,” the vice president noted. “This an important step by Congress to help the Administration protect taxpayers and vulnerable Americans from criminal fraudsters.” Vance announced his role as chair of the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud at a White House press briefing earlier this month following sprawling federal probes into Minnesota and California for allegedly bilking taxpayers into funding scam social service programs such as child care centers. After swearing in McDonald, VP Vance posted a statement on X: Glad to swear in my friend Colin McDonald today. Florida is leading the way for the rest of the nation when it comes to election integrity! Gov. Ron DeSantis just signed a statewide version of the SAVE America Act into law. NBC News reported: The new law, most of which won’t take effect until after the midterm elections, is Florida’s version of the federal SAVE America Act, a bill President Donald Trump has championed. That measure is currently stalled in the U.S. Senate, where it lacks the 60 votes needed to advance under current rules. “This bill protects and expands integrity in our voter registration process,” DeSantis said. This comes one day after President Trump signed a sweeping executive order to secure our elections. President Trump was forced to take direct action after the SAVE America Act stalled in the Senate. Similarly, Gov. DeSantis does not have a lot of confidence in the passage of that nationwide legislation. More from The Hill: DeSantis said he’s “not anticipating” that the federal version of the legislation, which President Trump has been pushing for, will be passed and argued the new requirement will protect the integrity of state elections. “Our Constitution in the state of Florida says only American citizens are allowed to vote in our elections, so we need to make sure that is the law,” the Florida governor said during a press conference. Voter advocates say the new requirement will harm citizens who cannot readily produce documents that prove their citizenship. Retirement community and student IDs will not be accepted as a valid form of identification. Voters will need to present a birth certificate, social security card, passport or alternate evidence of U.S. citizenship.
