Marjorie Taylor Greene hit back at President Donald Trump on Tuesday at a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol alongside women victimized by late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump withdrew his support for Greene, one of his staunchest allies, over the weekend after she criticized him and his administration for their handling of the Epstein investigation, along with other matters. “I was called a traitor by a man that I fought for five, no, actually, six years for, and I gave him my loyalty for free,” Greene said, referencing a social media post from Trump over the weekend where he called her “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene.” “I won my first election without his endorsement, beating eight men in a primary, and I’ve never owed him anything, but I fought for him, for the policies and for America first, and he called me a traitor for standing with these women and refusing to take my name off the discharge petition.” Greene appeared to insinuate on Tuesday that Trump was the “traitor.” “Let me tell you what a traitor is. A traitor is an American that serves foreign countries and themselves. A patriot is an American that serves the United States of America and Americans like the women standing behind me now,” Greene continued. Greene added that the “real test” going forward would be whether the Department of Justice heeds the law, which Trump has pledged to sign, and releases all the case files from the probes into Epstein and his convicted co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell. She also noted that the DOJ could keep the files “tied up in investigations” after Trump ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to open what appears to be a sham probe into Epstein’s connections to a group of prominent Democrats, including former president Bill Clinton. The Republican firebrand’s ugly break with Trump over the Epstein case files comes after weeks of tensions between her and the president over a number of issues, including her support for extending Affordable Care Act tax credits supported by Democrats and her discomfort over Trump’s second-term focus on foreign policy and his open pursuit of a Nobel Peace Prize while he has failed to address the affordability issues that led Americans to return him to the White House in last year’s presidential election. She noted that she was not a “Johnny come lately” to Trump’s “MAGA train” and said the president’s refusal to support release of the files despite promising to do so on the campaign trail last year had been “one of the most destructive things” to Trump’s movement because his supporters had “fought for truth and transparency and to hold what we consider a corrupt government accountable.”

Platforms such as Indeed, Truth Social, OpenAI and X all were reported own this morning. CNBC reported more on the connection issues related to Cloudflare being down: Internet infrastructure company Cloudflare was hit by an outage on Tuesday, knocking several major websites offline for global users. Many sites came back online within a few hours. In an update to its status page around 9:57 a.m. ET, Cloudflare said it had implemented a fix to resolve the issues. “We are continuing to monitor for errors to ensure all services are back to normal,” the company added. E-commerce platform Shopify, job search engine Indeed, Anthropic’s Claude chatbot, President Donald Trump’s Truth Social and Elon Musk’s social media platform X were among the sites impacted by the Cloudflare issues, according to Downdetector, which itself could not be accessed briefly for some users. Some of NJ Transit’s digital services were brought down by the outage. OpenAI’s status page indicated its ChatGPT and Sora short-form video app were recovering after experiencing issues due to a “third-party service provider.” A Cloudflare spokesperson said the company observed a “spike in unusual traffic” to one of its services around 6:20 a.m. ET, causing some traffic passing through its network to experience errors. “We do not yet know the cause of the spike in unusual traffic,” the spokesperson added. “We are all hands on deck to make sure all traffic is served without errors.” Cloudflare’s software is used by many businesses worldwide, helping to manage and secure traffic for about 20% of the web. Among the services it provides are that it guards against distributed denial of service attacks, which are when malicious actors attempt to overload a website’s system with so many traffic requests that it can’t function. Shares of Cloudflare slid more than 3%. Cloudflare went down early this morning, causing half the internet to go offline. Snapchat, Reddit and Lloyds Bank were among more than 1,000 sites and services reported to have gone down as a result of issues at the heart of the cloud computing giant’s operations in North Virginia, US on 20 October. In a detailed summary of what caused the outage, Amazon said it occurred as a result of errors which meant its internal systems could not connect websites with the IP addresses computers use to find them. “We apologise for the impact this event caused our customers,” the company said. “We know how critical our services are to our customers, their applications and end users, and their businesses. “We know this event impacted many customers in significant ways.” While many platforms such as the online games Roblox and Fortnite were back up and running within a few hours of the outage, some services experienced prolonged downtime. This included Lloyds Bank, with some customers experiencing issues until mid-afternoon, as well as US payments app Venmo and social media site Reddit.
