High School Classmate Of Morgan Wallen Shares Hilarious Message He Wrote In His Teacher’s Yearbook

Not big on school, eh? Morgan Wallen was a star athlete back in high school, pitching and playing shortstop for the baseball team during his time at Gibbs High School in Knox County, Tennessee. He had hoped to continue on with baseball in college, and was attracting attention from coaches and scouts, but ultimately a torn ligament before his senior year ended up cutting his baseball career short. And like most athletes, it seems like Morgan wasn’t too big on his classes. (In the words of Cardale Jones, he ain’t come here to play school). A former classmate of Morgan’s, whose mother also happened to be his English teacher, recently shared the hilarious message that the future country music star wrote in his teacher’s yearbook. And apparently hers was one of the only classes he didn’t mind: “I had fun in your class and I never say that so feel special. You are a great teacher and I learned a lot. I think I’ll test out of college English now. Have a great summer and I’m sure I’ll see you at the ballfield.” She also shared the message that Morgan’s sister, Ashlyne Wallen, wrote in her own yearbook, which caught Ashlyne’s attention and re-connected the former high school classmates in the comments of the video. (The classmate clarified that Morgan was two years older than her, so she was closer to his sister than she was with the country singer). @laurenhudson__24 I miss those days. #morganwallen #schooldays #memories #classof2013 @Ashlyne Wallen #knoxvilletennessee ♬ I Had Some Help – Post Malone It’s safe to say things worked out pretty well for him though. The 32-year old is the biggest country star in the world: He’s got the #1 album of any genre, is dominating at country radio, and is currently on a stadium tour selling out two nights in every city he rolls through. In fact, Morgan is so big that he doesn’t even have to worry about awards shows. Of course the hitmaker is the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year. But Morgan wasn’t in attendance at the show to accept the award last year, and hasn’t acknowledged it other than posting a picture of the trophy to a photo dump on Instagram. It was reported yesterday by Hits Daily Double that Morgan Wallen is NOT submitting his chart-topping album I’m The Problem for Grammy consideration. Per the outlet: “Sources in the 615 tell us that Morgan Wallen has elected not to submit his chart-topping album ‘I’m the Problem’ (Big Loud/Mercury/Republic)—far and away the biggest release of the year—for Grammy consideration.   The Academy’s gatekeepers, you’ll recall, have never been particularly receptive to Wallen, though those who ought to know tell us there was no rancor in the decision, which they described as a measured ‘No, thank you.'” Morgan Wallen reportedly not submitting 'I'm the Problem' for #GRAMMYs consideration (via @HITSDD). It's the most successful album of the year by units sales and weeks at #1. — chart data (@chartdata) August 19, 2025 And honestly, why would he? They’re not going to give him the award, and he clearly doesn’t care either way. It’s not hurting his career, it wouldn’t help his career if he won, and awards shows are more and more becoming self-indulgent affairs for artists and the music industry to pat each other on the back instead of actually reflecting the quality of the art that’s recognized. (Sorry, couldn’t help myself there). Anyway, it seems Morgan eventually found his place right where he’s supposed to be – and he at least enjoyed one class along the way.The post High School Classmate Of Morgan Wallen Shares Hilarious Message He Wrote In His Teacher’s Yearbook first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Did You Know That ‘Landman’ Star, Billy Bob Thornton, Is In A Band Called The Boxmasters & They’ve Released 19 Albums?

Billy Bob Thornton’s got himself a band? They’re a rock and country music group that calls themselves The Boxmasters. Would I have preferred for them to be called the Billy Bob Band? Or the Billy Band Thorntons? Without a doubt. But it’s still very cool to hear that the Landman star has himself a successful side project… and in case you didn’t know, music is something that Thornton has always had an interest in. It’s hard to imagine the actor known for such classic films as Sling Blade and Bad Santa was struggling to get his foot in the door in the entertainment industry, but like many that chase the dream of becoming a movie star, Thornton’s life wasn’t all glitz and glamor initially. Long before Billy Bob was the star of the hit Paramount+ show Landman, he was broke and trying to make it in the City of Stars. Thornton moved to California in the 1980s originally trying to make it in music. When things weren’t progressing, he decided to try out a little acting gig on the side. For his first job, which just required him to say one line, he was paid over $350. From that point on, he knew he wanted to be an actor. Thornton flip-flopped between acting and playing music in the late 1980s and early 90s in an effort to just stay afloat financially. When one potential career path slowed, he pivoted and went to the other. Obviously, the whole acting and writing thing became the career path that Billy Bob Thornton was supposed to walk along. However, thanks to his success as an actor, he also got to try his hand out in the music industry. Thus, the actor ended up achieving the best of both worlds. So when Thornton isn’t busy with projects meant for the big and/or small screen, you just might catch him playing with his rocking country band: The Boxmasters. Since 2008, the band has been crafting and releasing music, and their sound could be described as a melting pot of rock and classic country (many of their songs prominently feature a steel guitar). The Boxmasters have put out 19 albums in their time together (a couple of those being Christmas albums), and I’ve got to say that a lot of their music is legitimately good. Now would I seek it out all the time? Or have it featured heavily in my rotation? Probably not. But it is good enough to throw on at the occasional get together. Makes for a great talking point too. Throw on a Billy Bob Thornton song and turn to your friend and say: “You know this is the guy from ‘Landman’ right?” Imagine starting that conversation with an ice cold beer in your hand. All in all, it’s just fun to know that Billy Bob Thornton carves out time in his busy schedule to be a part of a band that could be described as a passion project of his. And it’s not something that is “in his past” either. The Boxmasters just recently put out an album called Pepper Tree Hill in July of this year, so they are very much an active band. And they’ve brought to life such classic hits as: “I’ll Give You A Ring” “That Mountain” “The Poor House” Still can’t tell me that the Billy Bob Band or the Billy Band Thorntons would have been bad names for the group…The post Did You Know That ‘Landman’ Star, Billy Bob Thornton, Is In A Band Called The Boxmasters & They’ve Released 19 Albums? first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
