More than 200 former staff at the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division signed a letter condemning Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, and in doing so, they outed themselves as deep state actors and demonstrated Dhillon’s effectiveness in restoring the division to its true mission. The lawyers wrote to “sound the alarm about the near destruction of the DOJ’s once-revered crown jewel,” but their complaints illustrate the problems the Trump administration seeks to address. “There absolutely is a deep state,” John Daukas, former acting assistant attorney general in the division in Trump’s first term, told The Daily Signal in an interview Tuesday. While many federal employees hold “career” positions that are ostensibly nonpolitical, many of them act against the president’s political appointees and frustrate the president’s agenda. An April RMG Research poll found that 75% of the federal employees who voted for Kamala Harris last year, work in the District of Columbia, and make more than $150,000 annually said they would refuse to follow a lawful order from President Donald Trump, if they considered it bad policy. Daukas said many Civil Rights Division career staff he worked with acted on a similar mentality. “They acted like they were the policymakers, like they had been elected, as opposed to the president,” he recalled. While 80% of the Civil Rights Division‘s cases are noncontroversial—fighting human trafficking or real discrimination—about a fifth concern “hot-button issues,” such as abortion, transgender ideology, and “reverse discrimination.” Career staff “did great work” with “the meat and potatoes stuff,” but they proved obstinate on other projects, Daukas said. Trump 45 Examples Career staff balked when the Civil Rights Division opposed racial quotas by supporting Students For Fair Admissions’ cases against Harvard University and Yale University. Daukas recalled that many career staff “refused to sign briefs.” The head of the education section said “all her people were ‘too busy’ to work on the case.” “We had to cobble together this hodge-podge of people from other divisions,” including some from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Connecticut, to do the job. The Supreme Court ultimately ruled against Harvard, striking down racial quotas. Career staff also balked at investigating then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., for undercounting nursing home deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic. The career staff “basically were dragging their feet. This is a technique they have—they just wait you out, thinking the administration will change,” Daukas recalled. Career staff urged the politicals to investigate Texas and Indiana, instead. The political appointees wrote the letters themselves. Attorney General Letitia James, D-N.Y., ran her own investigation and found that Daukas’ suspicions were correct. The Civil Rights Division also supported Idaho’s law banning boys from competing in girls’ sports, and the career staff refused to work on it, Daukas said. “We had about 400 attorneys in the Civil Rights Division, but it felt like we only had 15 or 20, who were the political appointees, willing to work on controversial issues,” he added. The Civil Rights Division Letter The former Civil Rights Division staffers’ letter—sent Dec. 9—unwittingly testifies to the importance of Dhillon’s work. The letter notes that Attorney General Pam Bondi dropped a lawsuit challenging Georgia’s 2021 election integrity law—which former staffers say “made it harder to vote.” Daukas noted that the Georgia case was “totally bogus,” and that voting under the law has been easier than in many blue states. Yet the division brought the case because Biden had declared Georgia’s law “Jim Crow 2.0.” Mentioning that case demonstrates “such a lack of self-awareness on their part,” Daukas said, because the case is “a paradigmatic example of the deep state and politics run amok.” The letter also slams Dhillon’s decision to withdraw from settlement agreements regarding police wrongdoing in Minneapolis and other cities. “I was involved in the investigation of Minneapolis,” after the death of George Floyd in police custody, Daukas recalled. He said the division found evidence of potential police brutality but no evidence of racism. Despite the lack of evidence, the city of Minneapolis actually wanted a consent decree from the court, Daukas explained. “This is an inside job where they were colluding. The city wanted to be required to do these things, to spend money on social workers—it’s not like they were being punished.” “Thank goodness Harmeet and her team pulled this one back,” the former attorney noted. A Testament to Trump Reforms Dhillon’s tenure marks a sea change from her predecessor under Biden, Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke. While pro-abortion vandals had targeted pro-life pregnancy centers and Catholic churches, Clarke prosecuted pro-life protesters outside abortion clinics. Clarke and her division also consulted with the Southern Poverty Law Center, which puts mainstream conservative and Christian groups on a “hate map” with the Ku Klux Klan. Trump’s administration also marks a sea change from Biden on “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” While Trump has pledged to enforce civil rights laws—which protect Americans regardless of race, sex, or religion—he has rejected the Marxist identity politics that claims the only true victims of discrimination must be from previously oppressed groups. The former staffers’ letter complains that Dhillon “launched a coordinated effort to drive us out,” but based on the leftist bias under Clarke, the Trump administration’s approach to civil rights law, and the letter’s own complaints, it seems the effort may have been more than justified. FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—President Donald Trump is barring five “agents of the global censorship-industrial complex” from entering the United States, The Daily Signal can first report.  The State Department has taken steps to impose visa restrictions on five European individuals “whose entry, presence, or activities in the United States have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States.”  Two of these, former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton and Imran Ahmed, the chief executive of the Centre for Countering Digital Hate, are subject to deportation.  “Their conduct may have been legal, and even socially acceptable, in the countries where they operate,” said a State Department document obtain told The Daily Signal. “But censorship is unwelcome in our nation.”  Breton ordered Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and Shou Zi Chew to combat “misinformation” about the Israel-Hamas war on their platforms under an EU law called the Digital Services Act. Ahmad’s CCDH has campaigned for the deplatforming of Trump administration officials and stricter policing of online speech.  Trump’s FTC chairman notified social media companies that they must not apply the Digital Services Act in the United States because it would impede Americans’ free speech.  Due to Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s foreign policy determination, the Department of Homeland Security can now initiate removal proceedings against individuals pursuant to the Immigration and Nationality Act, which which “renders inadmissible any alien whose entry into the United States the Secretary of State determines “would have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States.”      “President Trump is clear: his America First foreign policy rejects violations of American sovereignty,” the document said.  The State Department will not tolerate “extraterritorial overreach by foreign censors targeting American speech,” the document said.  “Under the guise of combatting ‘disinformation’ and ‘defending democracy,’ foreign ideologues—some even living in the United States—have led organized efforts to coerce American platforms to censor, demonetize, and suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” the official continued. “And, even as the president’s historic administration has rejected and defunded similar censorship efforts domestically, these radical activists and weaponized NGOs have advanced censorship crackdowns by foreign states—in each case targeting American speakers and American companies.”  The State Department’s move excludes sitting government officials.  The list of five officials is illustrative, not comprehensive, and the State Department is ready and willing to expand the list if other foreign actors do not reverse course, the official said.  Certain family members of those whose visas are being revoked may also be covered by these restrictions.   In February, Vice President JD Vance told The Daily Signal he was in conversations with United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer about free speech violations in the UK.  “We do have special relationships in the U.K. and also the civilian European allies, but we also know that there have been infringements on free speech that actually affect not just the British,” he said.  “Of course, what the British do in their own country is up to them, but it also affects American technology companies and, by extension, American citizens,” he continued. “So, that is something that we’ll talk about today.” The post EXCLUSIVE: Trump Bars Global Censorship Agents From Entering US appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Remember how Democrats once hailed ObamaCare as a "big f---ing deal?"Nowadays, as inadvertently revealed by Politico, many Democrats have turned their backs on the 15-year-old program they have come to loathe (while urging continued funding for it) and instead increasingly demand its replacement with Medicare For All. On Sunday, Politico reporters Lisa Kashinsky and Elena Schneider revealed the deep Democrat discontent with ObamaCare in "Democrats are united in bashing GOP on Obamacare. Medicare for All could reopen a rift." The article began with how fervently many Democrats are in their desire to ditch ObamaCare in favor of the entirely government-financed Medicare For All: Progressives are pushing Medicare for All in some of the Democratic Party’s most competitive Senate primaries next year, threatening the unity the party has found on attacking Republicans over expiring Obamacare subsidies. In Maine, Graham Platner said he’s making Medicare for All a “core part” of his platform in his race against Gov. Janet Mills, the establishment pick who’s called for a universal health care program. In Illinois, Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton and Rep. Robin Kelly are both championing the concept — and calling out rival Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi for not fully embracing it. In Minnesota, Medicare for All has emerged as a key distinction between progressive Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and moderate Rep. Angie Craig, who supports adding a public option to the Affordable Care Act rather than Medicare for All. Flanagan said she “absolutely” expects the policy to define the primary because “it doesn’t matter if I’m in the urban core, the suburbs or greater Minnesota — when I say I’m a supporter of Medicare for All, the room erupts.” And it’s become a flashpoint in Michigan, where physician Abdul El-Sayed, who wrote a book called Medicare for All: A Citizen’s Guide, is using his signature issue to draw a contrast with Rep. Haley Stevens and state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, who favor other approaches. Think about it. If the insurance company enrichment program known as ObamaCare were working effectively as they had promised way-back-when, why would many Democrats be urging an entirely different health program to replace it? This appeared to be an admission that the the first word in the official title of ObamaCare, "AFFORDABLE Care Act" is anything but affordable. Notice the reporters touted calls to keep it alive and/or replace ObamaCare with Medicare-for-All without giving weight to the (many) negative consequences (emphasis mine, click "expand"): But some more moderate Democrats worry that progressives’ renewed push for Medicare for All would undermine the party’s recent united front in fighting for an extension of the Obamacare subsidies that are set to expire at the end of the year, leading to a significant spike in insurance costs for millions of Americans. Their effort initially failed in the Senate, but with the help of four vulnerable Republicans who crossed party lines this week, Democrats have now secured a House vote on an extension in January. “We have a singular message, which is: ‘Don’t let these tax credits go.’ We have Republicans on the ropes,” said a national Democratic strategist who works on Senate races and was granted anonymity to speak candidly. “I don’t think introducing ‘we need MFA’ is the right strategy right now. I think it would be unhelpful.” Several Democratic consultants pointed to recent public polling showing Americans like having individual insurance coverage, despite being dissatisfied with health care companies. An NBC News poll found 82 percent of Americans were satisfied with their plans, both private and government-sponsored. Based on that data, these consultants said allowing Americans to buy into a government-offered plan, known as a “public option,” is more politically palatable. Centrists have long dismissed Medicare for All as both a policy pipedream and political albatross for their party — a rallying cry for the left that serves as catnip for Republican admakers looking to broad brush Democrats as socialists. They argue that surveys often fail to present voters with the full picture of how Medicare for All would work, and therefore fail to capture its electoral toxicity. Too bad the Democrats are just waking up to how horrible ObamaCare has turned out to be especially since the architect of ObamaCare, Jonathan Gruber, gloatingly bragged it was not primarily intended to be an effective health care program but a scam to fool the public via lack of transparency and count on the "stupidity of the American voter" to get it passed: The issue is also becoming a flashpoint in Democratic primaries for some of the most competitive House seats in the country, driven in part by Sanders-backed candidates running from California’s Central Valley to Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. “There’s immense hostility and anger toward the way the insurance industry functions, doubled up with health care itself being one of the biggest affordability issues,” said Mark Longabaugh, a progressive strategist who worked on Sanders’ 2016 presidential bid. “Progressives are smart to push the case.” ObamaCare scam artist Jonathan Gruber was unavailable for comment.

Justin Herbert, and Caleb Williams,” Whitlock says.“Black starting quarterbacks have won 41% of their games this year in the NFL. And my argument — it’s not that they're black; it’s not their skin color. It’s the culture and the mindset of victimhood and challenging of authority. And as a coach, you should be able to speak to this,” he tells Coach JB.Coach JB believes it’s because coaches now accept “all this money and are worried about wins only and not the kid and the kid’s future.”“I coached 19 of 21 years only having a black quarterback. Three to the NFL, 21 Division I quarterbacks — 19 of those were black. So, at the end of the day, none of them got arrested. All of them are successful. Got their degrees. During a local hearing, a Massachusetts mayor requested the use of a translator. Now critics are asking if he can even speak English.Brian A. DePena (D) is the mayor of Lawrence, Massachusetts, a city of nearly 90,000. Approximately 82% of the residents of Lawrence are Latino, according to a 2023 report by WGBH.'I practice my English because it's very important in America.'Mayor DePena appeared in court earlier this month for a Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission proceeding, where former Lawrence Police Chief William Castro was facing city officials following the revocation of his credentials. Castro was accused of conducting an improper police chase and falsifying a police report.According to reports, DePena testified on Castro's behalf and requested a translator for the hearing. In video of the hearing that has gone viral, a judge is heard considering the request for a translator for the mayor. DePena has since been accused of not being able to speak English at all. If you supported another candidate, no matter. Critics of the president's immigration policy went into meltdown mode over a new video from the administration depicting Santa Claus as an ICE agent. In the video that appears to be generated by artificial intelligence, Santa dons a reddish uniform of Immigration and Customs Enforcement while arresting illegal aliens and sending them on their way on a deportation flight. "Self-deport today with the CBP Home app, earn $3,000 and spend Christmas at home with loved ones. Many online raged against the video and Sec. Kristi Noem of the Department of Homeland Security. "Nazi trash. Deport yourselves to hell," replied voice actor Andy Cortez. "Kristi Noem’s Department of Homeland Security posts deranged video turning Santa into an ICE agent. Making people suffer is just all fun and games for the Trump administration," responded Mike Sington, a former NBCUniversal executive. "This is freaking evil. Don’t make Santa the person who removes people from their place of safety. Ever. WTF?" said one critic. "First off, Santa isn't even a citizen so why the f**k would he be working with ICE and not give you f**ks coal for eternity? Secondly, you people are f**king ghouls," replied another detractor. On the strength of a very positive economic report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, President Trump announced on Truth Social his future plans for the economy — and these plans may not include the current chairman of the Federal Reserve.On Tuesday morning, Trump introduced and explained "the Trump Rule" when it comes to the economy.
