“Girl, You Can Do Better” – Miranda Lambert Reads “Mean Tweets” From Disgruntled Fans About Her Opening For Morgan Wallen
Not holding back...
About a week ago, Morgan Wallen announced his fourth studio album I’m The Problem, in addition to announced a subsequent stadium tour of the same name. The tour will kick off on June 20th at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, and hit 19 stadiums across the country, and in Canada, including Seattle, Washington; Foxborough, Massachusetts; Toronto, Ontario and more.
Each stop will include a rotating group of great openers in Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Ella Langley, Koe Wetzel, Gavin Adcock, Thomas Rhett, Corey Kent, and Anne Wilson.
It's a pretty solid group, but many fans of Miranda were left wondering why she would be opening for Morgan, seeing as she's a household name and one of the top artists in country music. Of course, no one is more popular than Morgan right now, and when it comes to ticket sales, no one in country music comes close... so that certainly has a lot to do with it.
Still, I can see how the average, more casual country fan could be confused on how Miranda ended up opening for Morgan, because you don't usually see an artist of her caliber opening for anyone. This would be the obvious exception, and Miranda shared a funny video on Instagram reading some of the "mean comments" fans left for her in regards to this announcement.
They went a little something like this...
"I'll pass."
"I was the biggest Miranda fan."
"Hm, team Miranda forever, but this comes as a shock."
"This ain't it sis."
"I'm so disappointed in both of you, may God forgive you both."
"You are not a side dish, you're a main course."
"Girl, you can do better than this."
"WTF I din't see Texas on here."
"Miranda, you're just clinging to something popular so you can try to stay relevant."
"I'm so confused why you haven't been Entertainer of the Year the last several years."
"I'm further confused about why you'd be opening for anyone. You should be the headliner. What's going on??"
"Unreal."
She laughed through most of them, joking at the end:
"Thanks guys for the support, I appreciate you guys."
The fans will always tell it like it is... and there's plenty more where that came from if you scroll through the post with the tour announcement:
I appreciate that y’all aren’t afraid to hold back ? pic.twitter.com/L1GdVlwNz7
