Pleasant Roland began Pleasant Company in 1986 with the three original American Girl dolls, Kirsten Larson, Samantha Parkington, and Molly McIntire. Each doll had a powerful story meant to inspire every girl to be the best she could be. The dolls have evolved in the last 38 years, with dozens of new characters introduced to the line. In 2001, three years after Mattel acquired Pleasant Company, they began introducing the Girl of the Year dolls. Summer loves animals and created her own dog-walking and treat business, Waggy Pup Tails. Her dedication to animals is strong, and she even donates a portion of her profits to Four Paws Animal Shelter, where she adopted her dog, Crescent. Bestselling author Clare Hutton teamed up with American Girl to write Summer’s book, Summer Gets to Work. Hutton said in a release issued by Mattell, “While being a young entrepreneur is challenging, Summer learns valuable lessons about managing her business and her relationships (the two-legged and four-legged varieties!) with creativity, empathy, and logic. She has blue eyes and glasses. Her meet outfit is brightly colored and whimsical, with matching bracelets and sandals. Howard Stern is in a race against himself. How fast can the radio legend tarnish his legacy? Stern, 70, doesn’t resemble the pioneer who changed the face of radio. It’s like two different broadcasters. And Stern came to the top of the list along with “The View” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” His Harris chat, a little over an hour, let the presidential candidate speak without fact checks or challenging questions. We expected that. It’s why her campaign chose Stern. Even the left-leaning Business Insider dubbed the moment “remarkable.” It likely wasn’t a compliment. [Stern] doesn’t like seeing Harris being satirized on Saturday Night Live. “I hate it. I don’t want you being made fun of,” Stern told Harris. “There’s too much at stake. I believe the entire future of this country right now… it’s literally on the line.” Harris, no fan of free speech, actually stood up for the show. The vice president, for her part, didn’t seem to mind. “It was funny,” Harris said of the most recent episode. “I am a huge fan of Maya Rudolph, so I think she’s put a lot of time into doing the piece and the character.” The irony is clear on two fronts. One, “SNL” has been cartoonishly pro-Democrat since President Barack Obama took office. The show ignored Harris for three-plus years through her various missteps and word salad speeches. Yet the first two episodes of the show’s new season, number 50, have teased the candidate as well as her VP choice, Gov. Tim Walz. Stern went from “F*** the FCC” to. “leave the Vice President alone” in the span of his career. It’s hard to imagine he can sink much lower.
