Shelter-In-Place Order After Fire Erupts At Aerospace Manufacturer, Hazmat Crews Monitoring Situation

SPS Technologies describes itself as a developer, manufacturer and global supplier of a line of aerospace fasteners and precision components. The Abington and Jenkintown school districts and all private and parochial schools were closed Tuesday. Pakistan claims 30 militants killed near Afghan border

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan reported Tuesday that its security forces killed at least 30 Islamist insurgents during clashes in a volatile region bordering Afghanistan. A military statement attributed the casualties to an overnight “intelligence-based” operation against a militant location in the tribal district of South Waziristan. The slain people were referred to as “khwarij,” a local term employed by the government to identify members of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, militant group. The TTP has not commented on the reported clashes, and it is not possible to verify government claims through independent sources in the violence-hit district. The Waziristan region and nearby districts along the Afghan border face almost daily militant raids targeting Pakistani troops, police officers and various government entities, with the TTP claiming responsibility for most of it. The violence has killed dozens of Pakistani security personnel within the first two months of 2025 alone. Military officials claim that retaliatory counterinsurgency operations have killed scores of TTP operatives, including key militant commanders, in recent days. Islamabad alleges that the TTP, listed as a global terrorist organization by the United Nations, uses havens and training camps in Afghanistan to carry out cross-border terrorist attacks. The Taliban government in Kabul, which is not recognized by any country, rejects Pakistani allegations. The latest report by the U.N. Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, released last week, highlighted Pakistan's concerns, stating that the TTP has "significantly increased” its attacks in the country and from Afghan territory. The report noted that Kabul “continued to provide the TTP with logistical and operational space and financial support.” It added that the militant group "established new training centers" in the Afghan provinces of Kunar, Nangarhar, Khost and Paktika, "while enhancing recruitment within TTP cadres, including from the Afghan Taliban.” The Taliban government dismissed the U.N. findings as “inaccurate” and contrary to reality.

Actress Julianne Moore Claims Children’s Book She Wrote Was ‘Banned By The Trump Administration’

Actress Julianne Moore claims that the Trump administration “banned” a children’s book she wrote from schools run by the Department of Defense, but a rep from the organization responded by saying that it’s one of several books currently under review and no permanent changes have been made yet. The celebrity wrote a lengthy Instagram post about her book “Freckleface Strawberry” and how she believes it was removed from schools without good cause. The story follows a young girl who tries to get rid of her freckles before learning to accept herself and her differences. Moore said “it is a great shock” for her to learn that her book was “banned.”     View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Julianne Moore (@juliannemoore) “Freckleface Strawberry is a semi-autobiographical story about a seven year old girl who dislikes her freckles but eventually learns to live with them when she realizes that she is different ‘just like everybody else.’ It is a book I wrote for my children and for other kids to remind them that we all struggle, but are united by our humanity and our community,” she said in the post. The actress went on, “I am particularly stunned because I am a proud graduate of Frankfurt American High School a #DOD school that once operated in Frankfurt, Germany. I grew up with a father who is a Vietnam veteran and spent his career in the #USArmy. I could not be prouder of him and his service to our country.” The “May December” star said she doesn’t understand what’s controversial about the book. “I am truly saddened and never thought I would see this in a country where freedom of speech and expression is a constitutional right,” Moore concluded.  Part of the preview of the book on Amazon says, “If you have freckles, you can try these things: 1) Make them go away. Unless scrubbing doesn’t work. 2) Cover them up. Unless your mom yells at you for using a marker. 3) Disappear. Um, where’d you go? Oh, there you are. There’s one other thing you can do: 4) LIVE WITH THEM! Because after all, the things that make you different also make you YOU.” The Department of Defense’s Education Activity, the group that plans and executes pre-K-to-12th grade educational programming for the DOD, provided a statement to Fox Digital on the alleged ban. “DoDEA is reviewing its current policies and instructional resources in light of recent Executive Orders and Department of Defense guidance,” it said.  “At this time, we are conducting a review – no materials have been permanently removed from our school libraries pending completion of the review. During this period, materials under review will have access limited to professional staff.”

Trump Admin Celebrates Steep Drop In Illegal Border Crossings

Illegal border crossing at the southern border of the United States “plummeted” in January, falling precipitously as President Donald Trump returned to office in what the White House is calling “the Trump Effect.” Apprehensions of illegal border crossings into the United States dropped 36 percent last month, falling to 61,465, new data from Customs and Border Patrol indicates. The figure, which includes 29,116 apprehensions on the border and another 32,349 at ports of entry, is the lowest since May 2020, when the COVID response virtually shut down the southern border as new restrictions had been implemented. The rate dropped particularly rapidly after Trump assumed office on January 20, the White House pointed out in a press release on Tuesday. “From Jan. 21 through Jan. 31, the number of U.S. Border Patrol apprehensions along the southwest border dropped 85% from the same period in 2024, according to data obtained by ABC News. In the 11 days after Jan. 20, migrants apprehended at ports of entry declined by 93%.” The data marks a stark contrast with the Biden administration, which had an average of 141,710 in the month of January, with the Trump administration calling those crossings “the result of dangerous policies that ferried illegal aliens directly into our communities, where they were allowed to stay indefinitely.” The drop in illegal border crossings comes as the Trump administration has taken a range of different actions to disincentivize illegal immigration, most notably by enforcing federal immigration law within the interior of the country and deporting illegal aliens. From drug traffickers in Baltimore to cartel members in Houston, ICE is deporting criminals illegal aliens across the country.@MaryMargOlohan and I reported for @realDailyWire on some of the worst offenders captured this Sunday. ? pic.twitter.com/jDlZOJmx3C — Spencer Lindquist ?? (@SpencerLndqst) January 29, 2025 The administration has also transported criminal illegal aliens to the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, with preparations underway for the facility to hold up to 30,000 detainees. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently announced that the federal agency would launch “a nationwide and international multimillion-dollar ad campaign warning illegal aliens to leave our country NOW or face deportation with the inability to return to the US.” “Let me deliver a message from President Trump to the world. If you are considering entering America illegally, don’t even think about it. Let me be clear. If you come to our country and you break our laws, we will hunt you down,” Noem said in a video accompanying the announcement. “Criminals are not welcome in the United States. For too long, weak leadership has left our borders wide open, flooding our communities with drugs, human trafficking, and violent criminals.” RELATED: ‘Don’t Even Think About It’: Kristi Noem Issues Harsh ‘Warning’ To Illegal Immigrants Coming To U.S.

CIA Operating Reaper Drones Over Mexico In War Against Drug Cartels

CIA Operating Reaper Drones Over Mexico In War Against Drug Cartels

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is flying MQ-9 Reaper drones over Mexico as part of President Donald Trump’s efforts to revamp the war against transnational drug cartels. CNN reported that the move comes as the administration has deployed significant resources to the southern border to stop illegal aliens and drugs from pouring into the United States at the unprecedented rate experienced during the Biden administration. The unarmed drones are currently only conducting spy missions against the cartels. The CIA can arm the drones and use them against foreign enemies, which it has often done when fighting Islamic terrorists in the Middle East and Africa. The administration is treating the cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO), a designation that it has not yet formally made but likely will in the coming weeks, which could lay the groundwork for using the drones to kill top cartel leaders and destroy manufacturing sites. The CIA said in a statement that “countering drug cartels in Mexico and regionally is a priority for CIA as a part of the Trump Administration’s broader efforts to end the grave threat from narco-trafficking. Director [John] Ratcliffe is determined to put CIA’s unique expertise to work against this multifaceted challenge.” Mexican officials, powerless to counter the vastly larger and more powerful U.S. government, have downplayed the CIA drones flying over Mexico, claiming that they do “not violate national airspace,” according to Defense Minister Ricardo Trevilla. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum did not resist the notion of drones flying over Mexican airspace to fight the cartels. “The important thing here, I think, in the declaration, which is what we have always proposed, is that they share information with the Government of Mexico,” she said. Trump’s top goals for the agency revolve around trade wars, undermining communist China, and destroying the drug cartels. The president was asked the day after he was sworn into office if he would consider “sending U.S. special forces into Mexico” to take out the cartels. “Could happen,” Trump said with a large grin on his face. “Stranger things have happened.” Related: Senate Confirms John Ratcliffe As Trump’s CIA Director
