The second of its kind, “Operation We Will Find You 2,” was conducted in seven federal judicial districts and geographic locations across the U.S. from May 20 to June 24, focusing on areas with an increased number of critically missing children. In a press release, the USMS said the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (USMEC) assisted in the operation, which led to the recovery and removal of 123 children from dangerous situations, as well as another 77 missing children who were located and found in safe locations. Out of the 200 children, 173 were endangered runaways, 25 were considered missing, a family member abducted one, and one was a non-family abduction. Additionally, 14 of the recovered children were located outside the city where they were reported missing, and the youngest was 5 months old. About 57% of the missing children were recovered within seven days of the USMS helping out with the cases. “There are no words to describe the terror felt by missing children, their families, and their communities,” Attorney General Merrick B. The dairy worker was in close contact with cows that had tested positive for H5N1, a highly pathogenic bird flu, and the worker reported only “eye symptoms”, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The person took antiviral medication and has recovered, the CDC said. The agency is sequencing a sample of the virus to see if it has developed any concerning mutations. More than 780 people have been monitored for symptoms and at least 53 have been tested for H5N1 this year, the CDC reports. The vast majority of those tests have been performed in Michigan. Colorado has the highest number of affected herds, according to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). A cat in Colorado has also tested positive after no known contact with poultry or dairy operations. Prior to this year’s outbreak in dairy cattle, the only previous US case in humans was detected in Colorado in 2022, after an incarcerated person was exposed to the virus while culling a flock of infected poultry. The new case followed an announcement the day before from US officials about plans to build up the supply of H5N1 vaccines and expand the availability of tests. The US is partnering with the vaccine maker Moderna to help develop and manufacture mRNA bird flu vaccines “if needed”, said Dawn O’Connell, assistant secretary for preparedness and response (ASPR). Trials for safety and efficacy in people would probably begin next year, she said. While the $176m contract focuses on H5N1 vaccines, it could also be used on developing or procuring vaccines targeting other strains of influenza or emerging infectious diseases, McConnell said. So, it seems that the Department of Justice’s special counsel, Jack Smith, may still have a shot at moving forward with Trump case. And this is despite a recent setback from the U.S. Supreme Court. The Court ruled that former presidents have immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts. Now, Barbara McQuade, current MSNBC legal analyst, has chimed in on the situation. Seems she wants to give some tips to her fellow Democrat. She told the hosts of The Weekend that she’s not sure if Smith will be able to wrap up his case against Trump before the election. Looks like the legal saga continues, folks. Newsweek reports: Department of Justice’s (DOJ) special counsel Jack Smith can still help move Donald Trump’s federal election interference case along by amending the former president’s indictment after a U.S. Supreme Court setback, former U.S. attorney Barbara McQuade said on MSNBC on Saturday. In a 6-3 decision on Monday, the Court ruled that former presidents have immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts, but not for unofficial acts. The decision came more than nine weeks after Trump, the presumed 2024 GOP presidential nominee, brought his presidential immunity case before the justices. McQuade, a former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan who is also a legal analyst for MSNBC, told the hosts of The Weekend on Saturday morning that she is unsure if Smith will complete his case against Trump before this year’s election. “It is not just the defendant, it is also the public that has a right to a speedy trial,” she said. “And so, I think the more progress [Smith] can make before a [potential] president-elect Donald Trump goes into office, the more he can do at the other end. Certainly, the things that have been deemed official acts, such as Donald Trump’s interaction with the Justice Department are going to go by the wayside. Jack Smith has the option of amending the indictment.” McQuade was referring to when Trump allegedly pushed his DOJ officials to conduct investigations into his 2020 election fraud claims, despite there being no evidence of such claims. The legal analyst continued: “You don’t have to go back to a grand jury to remove things from an indictment where they already found probable cause. So, he can pare this down to just those acts he believes are [un]official acts. Certainly, it will be litigated, but the public will have an opportunity to see what the unofficial acts were: organizing false slates of electors, pressuring state officials to flip the outcome of the election and exploiting the chaos at the Capitol on January 6 to try to press legislators to delay the certification.” In the aftermath of his 2020 election loss, Trump went through the court system, which rejected his cases to overturn the results. The former president also allegedly tried to change the results of the election through illegal means. In Georgia, Trump is currently facing charges, along with other co-defendants, for allegedly conspiring to overturn the state’s election results after Joe Biden’s razor thin win among voters in the state. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and claims the case is politically motivated. A Philadelphia radio host revealed on CNN Saturday that the Biden campaign fed her questions before the 81-year-old POTUS appeared on her show. Andrea Lawful-Sanders, host of “The Source” on WURD, said she got a list of eight questions directly from the Biden campaign in advance for the interview Wednesday with the embattled Biden — which was meant to help convince panicked supporters, especially blacks, that the president’s disastrous debate performance were an anomaly. “The questions were sent to me for approval; I approved of them,” Lawful-Sanders revealed to Victor Blackwell, host of CNN’s “First of All.” Lawful-Sanders originally said the questions came from the White House, but a Biden campaign spokesman told The Post that the talking points came from them. The Hill also reported: President Biden’s campaign provided suggested questions to two Black radio hosts who did the first interviews after the president’s disastrous debate performance, according to interviews they gave on Saturday. Going forward, Biden’s team will not provide suggested questions before interviews, said a source familiar with the booking operations. The two Thursday radio interviews in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, two crucial swing states that Biden must win to hold the presidency, were part of the Biden campaign’s efforts to demonstrate that the president could speak off the cuff in the wake of a debate performance in which the president struggled to complete sentences, lost his train of thought repeatedly, and sounded raspy. The revelation that the campaign provided suggested questions now raises further questions about whether the president can perform in unscripted moments. “While interview hosts have always been free to ask whatever questions they please, moving forward we will refrain from offering suggested questions,” a source familiar with the Biden booking operation told The Hill. Biden scheduled these radio interviews and an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in the days after his poor debate performance. During the ABC interview, Biden specifically mentioned the two radio interviews as evidence that he could handle the rigors of the campaign. Andrea Lawful-Sanders, the host of “The Source” on WURD in Philadelphia, said that members of the Biden team gave her a set of eight questions, and she chose four for her interview with the president. She told CNN’s Victor Blackwell, the host of “First of All” on CNN, that questions were sent to her beforehand when he asked her why the questions she asked Biden appeared to be the same as those asked by Earl Ingram, a Wisconsin radio host.
