Joy Reid Is Out At MSNBC: Here Are A Few Of Her Greatest Hits

MSNBC may be dropping Joy Reid’s daily show “The Reidout” at the end of February, but a wide selection of the far-left host’s hot takes will live forever on the internet. With just days to go before Reid is replaced by a trio of leftists — Symone Sanders-Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez — here are a few of the hottest of Reid’s hot takes from recent years. That time she claimed that Joe Biden surviving COVID was no less bada** than Donald Trump surviving an assassination attempt. “These two men are both elderly. Donald Trump is an elderly man who for whatever reason was given nine seconds to take a … iconic photo op during an active shooter situation — weird situation, we’ll figure that out one day,” Reid began. “But his survival of that, and bouncing right back and going right to his convention is being conveyed in the media world as a sign of strength,” she continued. “This current President of the United States is 81 years old and has COVID. Should he be fine in a couple of days, doesn’t that convey exactly the same thing? That he’s strong enough — older than Trump — to have gotten something that used to really be fatal to people his age. So if he does fine out of it and comes back and he rallies, isn’t that exactly the same?” Throwback to when Joy Reid suggested that Trump surviving the shooting and going immediately to the RNC was be exactly the same as Joe Biden beating Covid and going to the DNC. Unsurprising her show is cancelled. pic.twitter.com/gL0zENSuSf — T.J. Moe (@TJMoe28) February 23, 2025 Then there was the time she scolded minorities who supported Trump, claiming that they signed up for the “humiliation” that came with being in his orbit. “Part of the price of MAGAdom, particularly if you are a person of color is to take the humiliation, you know? I mean, Nikki Haley was not even invited, she was ostentatiously disinvited from this convention. Yet, she still said, ‘I pledge all my delegates to Trump,’” Reid said. “Tim Scott humiliated himself daily and then has continued to do so on this stage. I am stunned. And sad for him in the display he just did. But the humiliation of Tim Scott is part of the game and it’s part of the price,” she added, arguing that they also allowed Trump to “abuse” their communities. “Marco Rubio has been allowing himself to be humiliated by Donald Trump since he drank the tiny water bottle. Like, he’s never going to stop letting Trump humiliate him.” Joy Reid claims "part of the price" to be minority and in the MAGA movement is "to take the humiliation."She lashes out at Tim Scott, Marco Rubio, and Byron Donalds and accuses them of enabling "an abuse of these communities to make these people walk the plank." pic.twitter.com/4lvK50T9uc — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) July 16, 2024 Who could forget the time she complained that Trump got a PR boost from getting shot during the rally in Butler, PA. Demanding that the media stand up and “be the guardians of memory,” she fretted that the shooting would “allow Donald Trump, as he’s you know bathed in the glory and grandeur of his party to rewrite himself as both a hero and a victim that people who are the most vulnerable to not just the things he’s done but the things he’s promising to do, and that that will happen without a guardian saying wait, stop, and then the media will acquiesce to this rewrite.” Joy Reid fears that, after the assassination attempt on Trump, "the media will acquiesce" to Republicans and not label Trump "the greatest purveyor and promoter of political violence…since George Wallace." She doesn't want Trump to "rewrite himself as a victim." pic.twitter.com/f5QSVcYwkO — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) July 15, 2024 She not only bought into the notion that the legal cases against Trump would be what ended his political career, but was convinced that they were evidence of “racially-based vengeance.” “But for me, there is something wonderfully poetic about the fact … the first person to actually criminally prosecute Donald Trump is a black Harvard grad,” Reid said. “The very kind of person that his former staff, the people who worked for him, Steven Miller, etc., want to never be at Harvard Law School. But he was. And he came out and graduated, and he’s prosecuting you, Donald.” Reid went on to reference Willis in Georgia and New York Attorney General Letitia James, noting their roles in other cases against the former president. “And a black woman is doing that same exact thing in Georgia and a black woman forced you to pay a $175 million fine,” she added. “Donald Trump is being held to account by the very multicultural, multiracial democracy that he’s trying to dismantle. … It says something good about our country that we’re still capable of having that happen. Go, DEI. My DEIs are bringing it home.” Joy Reid suggests that the criminal cases brought against Trump is racially-based vengeance by black officials: "Go DEI. My DEIs are bringing it home." pic.twitter.com/r9THOyWMGn — End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) April 16, 2024 She even compared calls to protect the southern border to the old south’s resistance to racial integration. Reid complained that Republicans had the ability to come up with a real solution to the illegal immigration problem, but “they just refuse to do it because many Republicans now see calling for zero tolerance on the border as the only way to animate their base.” She concluded the thought by claiming that Texas Republicans sounded “like the old southerners who said that we will resist integration by any means necessary.” MSNBC's Joy Reid compares @chiproytx's call to protect the southern border to "the old Southerners who said that we will resist integration by any means necessary". To the racial demagogue, everything looks like racism. pic.twitter.com/a876itUHCb — Jorge Bonilla (@BonillaJL) January 25, 2024

CBS Host Margaret Brennan Seemingly Urges Democrat Governors To Fight Trump In Courts

CBS News host Margaret Brennan seemingly advocated for Democratic governors to push back on President Donald Trump over the weekend while interviewing New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D). The moment on “Face the Nation” happened when Brennan asked Hochul about a contentious interaction that Trump had with Maine Governor Janet Mills (D). Trump and Mills had the following interaction at the White House last week: DONALD TRUMP: Is Maine here, the Governor of Maine? GOVERNOR JANET MILLS: Yes, I’m here. TRUMP: Are you not going to comply with it? MILLS: I will comply with state and federal laws. TRUMP: Well, I’m – we are the federal law. Well, you better do it. You better do it, because you’re not going to get any federal funding at all if you don’t. “That was about transgender athletes on girls sports teams,” Brennan said about the exchange. “Are you Democratic governors going to start to work together on this?” Brennan pressed. “Is there legal pushback?” Hochul responded by claiming that Trump was “flooding the zone.” “They’re attacking California when it comes to FEMA dollars,” she said. “They’re filing lawsuits in Illinois. They’re going after Maine on this, and they’re coming after programs that have been duly put in place in the state of New York.” “What they’re trying to do is create this theater of all kinds of activity that is trying to be a distraction to us,” she continued. “And when someone floods the zone in a football game, what you need to have is the defenders be very disciplined, smart, but also stand their ground. And that’s exactly what New York governors, the governor of New York will do, in cooperation with our governors.” She claimed that Democrat governors would not “sit idly by and let our rights be attacked.” “We’ll work with you when there’s common ground, no doubt about it,” she continued. “Let’s build great projects and infrastructure. There’s areas where we’re going to work with you on immigration and getting the violent criminals off our streets. We do not dispute that. But don’t think that you can just come in and bully us around and not expect a reaction from governors.” WATCH: New York Gov. Kathy Hochul says she will cooperate with other Democratic governors to push back on the Trump administration’s efforts to target some of their policies. “We’re not going to sit by and let our rights be attacked,” she says. “Don’t think that you can just come in… pic.twitter.com/xP1o5Jkbx6 — Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) February 23, 2025

Senator Curtis Defends Trump Firing Generals: His Election Was A ‘Stop The Car’ Moment

Sen. John Curtis (R-UT) defended President Donald Trump during an interview over the weekend for this recent decision to fire several senior military officers, saying that his election victory was a real “stop the car” moment in politics. Curtis made the remarks during a Sunday CBS News interview on “Face The Nation” with host Margaret Brennan when asked about the firings, which included the chair of the Joint Chiefs. “Are you concerned that’s what’s happening here?” she asked. “I think we have to stop and look what happened really last November,” Curtis responded. “And one of my colleagues describe it this way, it was a stop the car moment. Those of us who have had young kids and been on family vacations know what a stop the car moment is. It’s, kids, you’re so disruptive, we’re stopping the car.” “And I think in many ways the American people said, stop the car,” he said. “We want dramatic change. We’re unhappy with what’s happening at the border, we’re unhappy with the economy, we’re unhappy with so many things.” “You keep promising that you’re going to cut spending, and you don’t. Stop the car,” he continued. “And so people really shouldn’t be surprised that this is a stop the car moment. We don’t get to go to Disneyland until we figure this out. And I think that’s what people are seeing right now in Washington.” He said that Trump’s victory was a clear sign that people wanted change and that people should not be surprised to see him following through on what he said he would do. WATCH: After President Trump’s abrupt firing of top-level military officials, Sen. John Curtis (R-UT) defended the action, telling @margbrennan “people want change.” “We all knew what we were getting with President Trump. Nobody should be really surprised at these dramatic shocks to… pic.twitter.com/aoC7rilWdQ — Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) February 23, 2025
