Apple wants to make you more active with watchOS 11

After taking the lid off of all the new features launching in iOS 18 this fall, Apple moved on to its latest software update for the Apple Watch. watchOS 11 is going to push you to be more active while providing you with more information than ever about your workouts. First, watchOS 11 introduces Training Mode, which measures how the intensity and duration of your workouts are affecting your body. Once you finish a workout, you can rate your efforts. Your Apple Watch will then let you know if you are higher or lower than your average training load, so you can adjust based on what you're training for. All of the new features in watchOS 11. Image source: Apple There are also several frequently requested updates coming to the rings on your watch face. In watchOS 11, you'll be able to set your goals for all three rings for each day of the week. You can also finally pause ring tracking if you don't want to lose a streak. One of the highlights of the update is the new Vitals app. Apple says that Vitals will allow Apple Watch owners to "explore your most important health metrics" at a glance. If any of your metrics are outside of their typical range, the Vitals app will let you know. Other new additions include pregnancy tracking features, an updated Smart Stack that surfaces relevant widgets automatically and supports Live Activities, and a redesigned Photos watch face that helps you pick the perfect based on composition, facial expressions, and more. Is the International Order Failing to Protect Palestinian Cultural Heritage?

In the past six months of conflict in Gaza, the Israeli military has caused significant destruction to the region's cultural heritage, obliterating about 60 percent of its sites and monuments. This includes the ancient Bronze Age settlement of Tell el-‘Ajjul, the nearly 1,700-year-old St. Hilarion monastery, and the historic Pasha’s Palace. Although cultural destruction is sadly inevitable in conflicts, Palestinian and civil rights organizations assert that this destruction is intentional.  According to Salah Al-Houdalieh, an archaeologist residing in the West Bank and serving as the secretary general of the International Council on Monuments and Sites–Palestine, the current rate of cultural loss in Palestine is unparalleled. He claims in an article published on Sapiens that historical landmarks and artifacts are even being ‘systematically demolished’.  Read moreSection: NewsHistory & ArchaeologyAncient PlacesAsiaRead Later

New ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Host Ryan Seacrest Pays Tribute To Pat Sajak After Retirement

Ryan Seacrest is poised to take over hosting Wheel of Fortune following Pat Sajak‘s retirement this month. Sajak’s legacy, however, is not far from Seacrest’s mind as he pays tribute to the “standard” Sajak set for hosts across all of television. Almost exactly a year ago, Seacrest was announced as the new Wheel of Fortune host, tasked with taking over for season 42. Vanna White is, so far, slated to stay on as a letter-turner. The latest season with its new host is expected to premiere in September of this year. Upon his announcement as the new host, Seacrest also paid tribute to the aspirational groundwork Sajak laid out for all in his position across decades. Ryan Seacrest pays Pat Sajak tribute as he bids him farewell   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Ryan Seacrest (@ryanseacrest) On Saturday, Seacrest shared a tribute to Sajak, the day after Sajak’s final episode of Wheel of Fortune officially aired. “Pat, congratulations on an incredible run with Wheel of Fortune!” Seacrest cheered. “Your dedication, charm, and wit have made the show a beloved part of American television for decades.” RELATED: Ryan Seacrest Expects Jitters Replacing Pat Sajak, Warns About His “Terrible” Spelling He continued, “Your partnership with Vanna has been nothing short of iconic, and together, you’ve created countless wonderful memories for viewers. You’ve set the standard for hosts everywhere, and this marks the end of an era. Best wishes for all your future endeavors!” His Instagram post is accompanied by a photo of the past meeting the present, showing Seacrest, White, and Sajak standing side by side at the titular wheel. He also included footage of the former and new host working together on the show. With Kelly and Ryan, and that is before counting his time on American Idol, American Top 40, and more. He was honored in 2018 for his work on Live! with nominations in the categories of Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host. But just like everyone else, he’s been captivated by watching Sajak and White. “I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them,” he said last summer, following his appointment as Sajak’s replacement. The former host praised what a privilege it was to fulfill his role as host on Wheel of Fortune for four decades / YouTube Sajak, for his part, has called it an “incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes, night after night, decade after decade.” While he won’t be hosting, he will continue working with the show as a consultant, so expect his influence to endure for a bit longer!
