The Rock star that Jon Bon Jovi said that is his favorite

Jon Bon Jovi started his career more than four decades ago and his band Bon Jovi became one of the best-selling of all time, with an estimated amount of more than 120 million records sold worldwide. With all the success, he had the chance to meet many of his heroes and become a good friend of them. In an interview with Time Out Dubai back in 2010, he was asked who was his favorite Rock star besides himself and he revealed who it is. The Rock star that Jon Bon Jovi said that is his favorite ‘Elton John… greatest guy in the biz. Elton loves music. He buys records every week, he encourages young artists, he has taken more than one and made them into stars." "Can you imagine getting a call when you’re some nobody kid named James Blunt five years ago. (Elton was) going 'Hi, it’s Elton John, I want to help you.' You’d probably just s*** yourself,’ Jon Bon Jovi said. Elton John is one of the most successful artists of all time. He has sold an estimated amount of more than 300 million records worldwide and retired from touring back in 2023 after more than six decades on the road. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 by the Guns N'Roses vocalist and pianist Axl Rose. Elton John played on Jon Bon Jovi's solo album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQ3Wa_uvugA&pp=ygUTYm9uIGpvdmkgZWx0b24gam9obg%3D%3D As Bon Jovi said, Elton is really a music lover and unlike many famous artists, he keeps interested in hearing new musicians from all music genres. He keeps supporting them, helping to promote their records and even recording with them. Elton did that with Bon Jovi back in 1990, when he ended up recording his first solo effort. It was the soundtrack of the Western “Young Guns II”, released that same year. He talked about that partnership with Elton John in an interview with Howard Stern (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage). “I simply asked him. We had met a couple of times. At that junction he just happened to be in L.A. He came over and he played on a song. Elton said: ‘Do you want me to sing on it as well?’" He continued: "I said: ‘Uh, yes please’. So he sang in a song called ‘Dyin’ Ain’t Much of a Livin’. He plays the piano, when I needed a great piano player Elton came in,” Jon Bon Jovi said. “Blaze of Glory” became a worldwide hit. It peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and also in countries like Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Besides Beck and Elton, that record also had many other famous guests. Some of them were Little Richard, Aldo Nova, Randy Jackson and Lou Diamond Phillips. The post The Rock star that Jon Bon Jovi said that is his favorite appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Carmine Appice explains why people shouldn’t listen to music via streaming

The drummer Carmine Appice first achieved fame as a member of Vanilla Fudge back in the 60s and worked in the following decades with a huge number of artists from various music genres. Some of them were Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart and Pink Floyd. So he had the chance to see the evolution of the music business up close and he is not happy with the streaming platforms. The musician explained in an interview Toilet Ov Hell (Transcribed by Blabbermouth), why people shouldn't listen to music via streaming platforms. He is currently promoting the new Cactus album called "Temple of Blues - Influences & Friends". Carmine Appice explains why people shouldn't listen to music via streaming "Keep pushing this album. That's what we need. And keep telling people to buy it and don't Spotify it. Buy it on iTunes. Buy it on Amazon. Because musicians get screwed on Spotify. I will never, ever play a song on Spotify," Carmine added. "If I want a song, I'll buy it on iTunes. I did it already a few times. I heard a song — on YouTube, I heard it, and I said, 'I'm gonna buy that.' And I bought it. And I heard another one and I bought it." "That's the way to do it, 'cause that keeps the musician alive and making money and working. Otherwise, the only way a musician can make any work or money is to tour and do touring and merchandise. Lucky for me, knock on wood, I started a long time ago." "All my big money was made. And I used it and made investments, so I'm sitting okay. But a lot of musicians are starting on Spotify. And they once said, 'Well, Spotify is like radio.' I said, 'No, it isn't. Radio, you get paid for it,'" Carmine Appice said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvH14zQP1is&pp=ygUQY2FjdHVzIGJhbmQgMjAyNA%3D%3DThe post Carmine Appice explains why people shouldn’t listen to music via streaming appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

What inspired Steve Harris to write Iron Maiden’s “Fear of the Dark”

One of the most famous Iron Maiden songs released in the 90s is certainly "Fear of The Dark" from the album of the same name released in 1992. Like most Iron Maiden songs, the lyrics were written by the founder, leader and bassist Steve Harris, who explained in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine back in 2019 the main inspiration for the song. According to him, he used to live in a ultra-old Medieval house that actually dates back to 1400 and his kids were really afraid to stay alone in there. What inspired Steve Harris to write Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark" "No (I was not afraid of the dark). I wrote it because I’ve lived for many years in an ultra-old Medieval house in the U.K. It isn’t a Medieval-style house; it actually dates back to the 1400s. My kids always used to say to me that the house could be a bit scary. I said, 'Look, the scariest thing in this house is me.' We used to joke about it." "But it’s a wood house and there were lots of creaks. If it were hot or cold, the wood would move and all the different nooks and crannies in the house would creak. People used to be a bit weird about it. It didn’t bother me because I was living there." He continued: "But people’s imaginations run away from them. People like scaring the wits out of each other. So there’s an element of that in there. But it’s also about the house, since some people seemed to think there were ghosts there. Maybe there was," Steve Harris said. Although the song was one of the most famous ones from the album and the title track it wasn't released as a single. The singles were: "Be Quick or Be Dead", "From Here To Eternity" and "Wasting Love". At the time the band was formed by Steve Harris, Janick Gers, Bruce Dickinson, Dave Murray and Nicko McBrain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bePCRKGUwAY  The post What inspired Steve Harris to write Iron Maiden’s “Fear of the Dark” appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Roger Waters once said Phil Collins was pretending to be a songwriter

Roger Waters once said Phil Collins was pretending to be a songwriter

The original Pink Floyd bassist and singer Roger Waters was certainly a really important part of the band's vision and lyrics, being the creative force behind especially albums like "Animals" (1977) and "The Wall" (1979). He was the band's main lyricist and it was crucial for the band's success, alongside David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. Besides being known for his musical talent, Waters is also remembered for always saying what he really thinks about everything. Back in 1992 in an interview with Musician magazine he talked about the Genesis vocalist Phil Collins, who also became a huge pop star as a solo artist. He curiously said that he felt that Collins was pretending to be a songwriter. Roger Waters once said Phil Collins was pretending to be a songwriter "You can draw a line between what I'm interested in and what I'm not interested in. On one side you can name Dylan and Lennon, who observe the world and have 'feelings'. (They) write songs directly from those feelings. On the vapid side you have pop groups who need material and write songs to fill the hole, rather than getting somebody else. But they might just as well get somebody else, because it's a manufacturing process." "It's not poetry, because it doesn't spring from heart or guts or wherever John Lennon's or Dylan's songs came from. And in my view - I seem to always wind up attacking poor Phil Collins. But it's only because he's so visible. He's symptomatic of an awful lot of if. He might well disagree and so might his fans. But the 'feeling' I get is that he's pretending to be a songwriter or a rock'n'roller. It's an act. That's why it's unsatisfying. And those videos underscore that feeling." He continued: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0qBaBb1Y-U&pp=ygUIc3Vzc3VkaW8%3D "If you cared about what you were doing, you would 'not be able' to do that silly walk, one behind the other. Because you would find it impossible to ridicule your work in that way. 'Mister Picasso, we think it would sell this work if you hung by your heels from a crane and held it upside-down with your trousers down.' Pablo's not gonna do that. Because he's serious about what he does." "Just a passing thought. That's taken over an awful lot of the business. You could say, 'Well, why shouldn't it?' Absolutely 'no' reason. So long as it doesn't take over and 'squeeze' out the Lennons and Dylans because they're too good for it. They won't take their trousers down and do silly walks on the beach," Roger Waters said. Collins joined Genesis in the early 70s as their drummer and after Peter Gabriel decided to leave he became the band's vocalist. A few years later when the guitarist Steve Hackett also decided to leave, the band became a trio. It was formed also by Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, transforming their music into a more commercial sound. That change was crucial to make Genesis one of the best-selling bands of all time. So Collins is one of the few people who were able to sell an estimated amount of more than 100 million records worldwide both as a member of a band and as a solo act.The post Roger Waters once said Phil Collins was pretending to be a songwriter appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

The Lore of Underground “Alien” Bases on Earth Goes Far Beyond Harvard Academics…

by Arjun Walia, The Pulse: A recent paper from researchers at Harvard suggests a “cryptoterrestrial hypothesis” for UFOs, claiming that highly advanced beings that originate elsewhere may have underground bases on Earth. “Flying saucers are real and they are space ships from another solar system. I think that they possibly are manned by intelligent observers […]

U.S. Mainstream Media Await New Orders Now Their Big Lie About Biden is Rumbled

by Tony Morrison, Daily Sceptic: The debacle that was President Biden’s performance at last Thursday’s Presidential debate divided America. Half were astonished to see someone with a crypt-keeper vibe who was obviously dazed and confused and whose language consisted mainly of mumbling nonsense that often trailed off into sheer incomprehensibility. The other half merely saw business as […]
