Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo will no longer allow pro-abortion rights groups to hand out emergency contraceptives and condoms at shows on her “Guts” tour after facing intense public backlash. Organizers told Variety that local abortion organizations were notified late last week of the change in plans following images of a care package that included boxes of Julie‚ a pill similar to Plan B‚ going viral following a St. Louis concert stop. Three sources reportedly told Variety that Rodrigo’s team made the decision. The National Network of Abortion Funds‚ which partnered with Rodrigo‚ reportedly said Rodrigo’s team requested abortion rights advocates stop distributing lube‚ condoms‚ and emergency contraceptives at the tour stops because “children are present at the concerts.” Jade Hurley‚ communications manager for the DC Abortion Fund‚ expressed her frustration with Rorigo’s policy change. “The reality is that youth have sex‚ and youth need access to birth control and emergency contraception‚” she told Variety. She also claimed that “extremists are causing a moral panic over something they don’t even understand.” The chair of the Prairie Abortion Fund‚ Destini Spaeth‚ agreed‚ saying‚ “There is something really positive about a 16- or 15-year-old having a Plan B and a few condoms in her dresser to use as she needs it.” She continued‚ “Sex and sexual health tools — whether that be abortion‚ Plan B‚ condoms — are villainized because you’re [seen as being] promiscuous. Nearly 500 Hollywood celebrities signed an open letter to protest director Jonathan Glazer’s Oscars acceptance speech.  Some of the A-listers who added their names to the letter include stars Debra Messing‚ Eli Roth‚ Jennifer Jason Leigh‚ and Julianna Margulies. The document‚ which was published by Variety on Monday‚ accuses Glazer of likening Israel’s response to the Hamas terrorist attack to the actions of Nazis during World War II. “We refute our Jewishness being hijacked for the purpose of drawing a moral equivalence between a Nazi regime that sought to exterminate a race of people‚ and an Israeli nation that seeks to avert its own extermination‚” the letter said in part. “Every civilian death in Gaza is tragic. Israel is not targeting civilians. It is targeting Hamas. The moment Hamas releases the hostages and surrenders is the moment this heartbreaking war ends. Former President Donald Trump sued ABC News and anchor George Stephanopoulos on Monday‚ arguing that the news host defamed him on-air multiple times. Trump filed the lawsuit in a federal court in Miami‚ alleging that Stephanopoulos harmed his reputation after the ABC News host said during an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) last week that Trump was found liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll‚ The New York Times reported. Last year‚ a jury in a Manhattan civil case found the former president liable for sexually abusing Carroll‚ not for rape. “Judges and two separate juries have found him liable for rape and for defaming the victim of that rape. How do you square your endorsement of Donald Trump with the testimony we just saw?” Stephanopoulos asked Mace during the interview.
