G7 Nations Reach Agreement To Shut Down Coal-Fired Power Plants

The Group of Seven (G7) nations announced its members intend to sign a deal to phase out the use of coal-fired power plants between 2030 and 2035. “At the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) held in Dubai during December 2023‚ it was decided that to limit global temperature rises to 1.5C the G7 group of industrialised nations – consisting of Canada‚ France‚ Germany‚ Italy‚ Japan‚ the UK and the US – must phase out coal by 2030 and fully decarbonise electricity by 2035‚” Engineering And Technology wrote. #BREAKING G7 agrees to phase out coal-fired power plants by mid-2030s pic.twitter.com/pKsllarpvD — AFP News Agency (@AFP) April 30‚ 2024 Reuters reports Germany and Japan may have leeway since their “coal-fired plants produce more than one-fourth of their total electricity.” Per Reuters: Germany has written in its legislation a final target to shut coal plants by 2038 at the latest‚ while Japan has not set a date. The agreement on coal would mark a significant step in the direction indicated last year by the COP28 United Nations climate summit to phase out fossil fuels‚ of which coal is the most polluting. The G7 ministers’ final communique is expected to be published in the early afternoon when ministers from Italy‚ the United States‚ Britain‚ France‚ Germany‚ Canada and Japan will rubber stamp a technical agreement reached on Monday. Italian Energy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin‚ who chairs the G7 meeting‚ said the ministers were also discussing potential restrictions to Russian imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe. According to an article in the Financial Times‚ a statement from sources at the G7 meeting said the final agreement could‚ however‚ include leeway in the planned timeline to include the option of a date “consistent with keeping a limit of 1.5C temperature rise [above pre-industrial levels] within reach‚ in line with countries’ net zero pathways”. This would help G7 countries heavily reliant on coal‚ such as Japan. According to energy think tank Ember‚ while electricity generation from coal has shrunk by 35% across the G7 group of nations since 2015‚ in Japan coal still accounts for almost a third of electricity production. A spokesperson for the G7 meeting confirmed that the outlines of the coal phase-out deal will be formally announced once the meeting has concluded. Meanwhile‚ at the end of last week‚ the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it has finalised a suite of rules that has set stricter emissions standards for power plants. Indeed‚ if long-term coal power plants plan to operate beyond 2039‚ they must cut or capture 90% of their carbon pollution. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released rules last week that will mandate some power plants to capture carbon emissions to fight fictional climate change. EPA Releases Rules That Threaten Coal-Fired Power Plants‚ Warning Of Increased Energy Costs 100 Percent Fed Up previously noted: “Coal plants slated to keep running beyond 2039 have CO2 capture requirements that begin in 2032‚” Axios reports. “The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced a suite of final rules to reduce pollution from fossil fuel-fired power plants in order to protect all communities from pollution and improve public health without disrupting the delivery of reliable electricity‚” the EPA stated in a press release. “These rules‚ finalized under separate authorities including the Clean Air Act‚ Clean Water Act‚ and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act‚ will significantly reduce climate‚ air‚ water‚ and land pollution from the power sector‚ delivering on the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to protect public health‚ advance environmental justice‚ and confront the climate crisis‚” the press release continued. “Experts say new EPA power plant rules will drive up energy costs and further destabilize U.S. grid‚” investigative journalist John Solomon noted.

They’re Calling Them “Bidenvilles”….Let Me Explain

They’re Calling Them “Bidenvilles”….Let Me Explain

Have you ever heard of “Hoovervilles”&;#63; If you’re over a certain age‚ you might have lived through it. Otherwise‚ if you’re a history buff you might know about them. For everyone else‚ I’ll be your Professor Noah and class is in session&;#33; Hoovervilles looked like this and they sprang up all over town because of how horrible the economy was under President Herbert Hoover: These were once called Hoovervilles. After this coming week‚ they will be called Bidenvilles. The Biden depression is upon us. pic.twitter.com/racAHMyTLw — Chris Plante Show (@ChrisPlanteShow) March 13‚ 2023 Here’s more (courtesy of ChatGPT): “Hoovervilles” were shantytowns named sarcastically after President Herbert Hoover‚ who was in office during the onset of the Great Depression in the late 1920s and early 1930s. They sprang up around the United States as a dire symbol of the economic desperation faced by thousands of Americans. The name “Hooverville” itself became a biting comment on what many saw as Hoover’s failure to effectively address the economic collapse. The living conditions in Hoovervilles were incredibly harsh. These makeshift settlements were often built from scavenged materials like cardboard‚ tarpaper‚ glass‚ lumber‚ tin‚ and whatever else people could find. They lacked proper sanitation‚ running water‚ and electricity. Diseases spread quickly in such cramped and unsanitary conditions‚ and with little access to healthcare‚ residents suffered greatly. Malnutrition was rampant due to widespread unemployment and poverty. Security was minimal‚ leading to high rates of crime as people became desperate to survive. Essentially‚ Hoovervilles were grim manifestations of the failure of the economy and government support systems. But now let’s compare to what the world looks like under Biden. And because I don’t want to just TELL YOU what to think‚ and because a picture is worth a thousand words….I ask you‚ are we repeating history&;#63; Do “Bidenvilles” look eerily similar to Hoovervilles&;#63; You be the judge: Here’s more‚ from the Washington Times: When people couldn’t afford housing during the Great Depression‚ they built shantytowns from scrap construction supplies and named them “Hoovervilles‚” after President Herbert Hoover. Today‚ Americans increasingly live out of their cars because they can’t afford housing. If history is any guide‚ will parking lots full of Americans soon be known as “Bidenvilles”&;#63; The problem has gotten so bad that Sedona‚ Arizona‚ recently set aside a parking lot exclusively for these homeless workers. The city is even installing toilets and showers for the new occupants. Apparently‚ the City Council thought installing temporary utilities was cheaper than solving the area’s cost-of-living crisis. And what a crisis it is. The average home in the city sells for $930‚000‚ while most of the housing available for rent is not apartments but luxury homes targeted at wealthy people on vacation. With such a shortage of middle-class housing and starter homes essentially nonexistent‚ low- and even middle-income blue-collar workers have nowhere to go at night but their back seat. Much like America’s Great Depression in the 1930s‚ this marks a serious regression in our national standard of living. But shantytowns were not prevalent in the 1920s (a decade that began with a depression) or the 1910s. Nor were they ubiquitous following the Panic of 1907‚ which set off one of the worst recessions in American history. Now let’s dig into the data…. Because math never lies. BIDENOMICS: Six Stats The Biden Regime Does NOT Want You To See&;#33; Is your life better now than it was 4 years ago&;#63; Do you feel more comfortable&;#63; Have more money&;#63; Bigger savings&;#63; Feel more safe in the world&;#63; Right‚ me either. But not only do we FEEL worse under Biden‚ but the stats actually prove it out…..BIG LEAGUE. (By the way‚ I’m not sure how it ever caught on that people thought Trump was saying “Bigly” but it was always Big League — that’s a freebie for you today). Anyway‚ all credit goes out to my friends over at MRCTV for this one. They did an excellent job gathering these six stats that show life truly is much worse right now after 4 years of Biden. Starting with Gas Prices…. No‚ it is NOT your imagination‚ you truly are paying more at the pump: You truly ARE making less money: Your mortgage payments HAVE gone sky high (if you had to get a new mortgage recently) and that means BIG bucks out of your pocket each month for nothing other than “interest”: You have MUCH less in your bank account: And everything costs WAY more…. Going up at a 3x pace too&;#33; Going up monthly too…. So how often do you get a pay raise&;#63; Once a year (if you’re lucky)&;#63; Good luck keeping up with prices that go up 5.5% every MONTH&;#33; And you can thank Joe Biden for all of this&;#33; If this resonated with you‚ please share with a friend&;#33; Together we can stop 4 more years of this crap&;#33;

Louisiana Supreme Court Ruling Will Allow Residents To Secede From State Capital And Create New Town

A Louisiana Supreme Court ruling will allow residents to secede from Baton Rouge and create a new town called St. George. The state Supreme Court reversed a lower court’s decision and ruled 4-3 to allow the incorporation of St. George‚ which will form in southeast Baton Rouge. Attorney Andrew Murrell‚ one of the leaders of the St. George movement‚ issued a statement following the Louisiana Supreme Court’s decision. “This is the culmination of citizens exercising their constitutional rights. We voted and we won‚” Murrell said. “Whether you are for or you are against St. George‚ now is your opportunity‚ a historic opportunity‚ to create a city from the beginning‚ from the ground up. It’s your ideas‚ it’s your policies‚ it’s your way of life and now you can come together and put those out there and have someone accountable to you‚” he added. “Five years ago‚ St. George voted to incorporate. Today‚ Louisiana’s Supreme Court stood up for the people’s right to have a greater say about their community and local representation‚” Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) commented. BREAKING: Louisiana Supreme Court has voted to allow residents to secede from Democrat-run Baton Rouge and create their own city. The new city‚ St. George‚ will have nearly 100‚000 people‚ making it one of the state’s largest cities in population. “This is the culmination of… pic.twitter.com/5NqTASj7Wp — Leading Report (@LeadingReport) April 30‚ 2024 From the Associated Press: Baton Rouge leaders took St. George organizers to court in 2019‚ just two weeks after 54% of voters living within the proposed city’s limits voted “yes” on the incorporation in a November election. Baton Rouge leaders argued that the new city would financially cripple city-parish services and force layoffs by stripping an estimated $48.3 million in annual tax revenue. They also argued that St. George’s proposed budget would operate with a deficit. Twice the courts shot down the proposed city‚ once in 2022 when a district judge ruled that St. George couldn’t operate with a balanced budget and was “unreasonable‚” and again last year when the First Circuit Court of Appeal ruled that St. George organizers hadn’t followed state law for getting the issue on the election ballot. The fight for St. George originally started as a movement to create a separate‚ independent school district before evolving into a full campaign to create a new city. Few new details were provided beyond what organizers had laid out before the 2019 vote‚ the newspaper reported. Organizers did say they were considering a push to force East Baton Rouge Parish to turn over tax money from the past five years‚ while incorporation was delayed due to legal fight. “Well‚ I’ll tell you‚ everything’s on the table‚” Murrell said. “That’s the easiest answer I can give you without going into further details.” St. George organizers said the city-parish government and school system were poorly run‚ and they wanted more localized control of tax dollars. Louisiana Supreme Court rules in favor of new City of St. George‚ reversing lower courts https://t.co/AtpL889xEa — The Advocate (@theadvocatebr) April 26‚ 2024 The New York Post reports: During a news conference Monday at the St. George Fire Department headquarters‚ Murrell promised the residents that the new city’s officials will work to finally set up a new school district as he acknowledged the challenges to come. “Number one‚ we created a city. We have not created a school district‚” Murrell said. “They are two distinct separate animals. They have separate budgets‚ separate leadership structures. “But I would be dishonest if I didn’t tell you what’s next on the agenda would be the creation of the St. George school district‚ which is long overdue in a parish that is near dead last in a state that is near dead last in the country in education‚” he added. Before the new government can get started‚ however‚ Gov. Jeff Landry must appoint the city’s first mayor and city council members. Residents will vote for their new leaders in the next election cycle‚ according to the city’s website.
