Chemical Leak At Manufacturing Company Prompts Hazmat Response And Shelter-In-Place Order

A chemical leak at a manufacturing company in Buckeye, Arizona, prompted a hazmat response and shelter-in-place order for nearby residents. Video footage shows an orange cloud emitting from the plant. “Hazmat crews are on the scene after emergency officials issued a temporary shelter-in-place order early this evening. This was due to orange toxic clouds billowing from the Thatcher chemical manufacturing plant dangerously close to homes in Buckeye, Arizona. Plant officials report that the chemicals involved are nitric acid and ammonia. Since ammonia is a colorless gas, it is believed the orange cloud is from nitric acid, which is extremely hazardous to human health,” Rawsalerts wrote. “According to the National Library of Medicine, nitric acid is ‘very toxic by inhalation’ and ‘corrosive to metals or tissue.’ Officials have since lifted the shelter-in-place order and declared the area safe,” the post added. #BREAKING: Hazmat crews are on the scene after a temporary shelter-in-place was ordered due to the leak of two highly toxic chemicals, which produced orange toxic clouds. #Buckeye | #Arizona ⁰Hazmat crews are on the scene after emergency officials issued a temporary… pic.twitter.com/zoEf9D3ErB — R A W S A L E R T S (@rawsalerts) June 22, 2024 FOX 10 Phoenix reports: The chemical leak incident happened at Thatcher Company of Arizona, where an orange cloud could be seen emitting from a garage door on the side of the company’s warehouse. Officials say 200 gallons of nitric acid leaked into a basin, reacting with a metal that caused the gas to form. There were 80 people dispatched to help contain the leak. No firefighters were injured in the incident. “There is a nitric acid tank that sprung a leak and the fluids of that are being contained in a concrete basin. When it gets to that basin it can have a reaction – and it is – and that what we are seeing in the sky,” Buckeye Assistant Fire Chief Rayne Gray said. #ALERT: Shelter-In-Place Due to Chemical LeakA yellow haze hovers over a chemical manufacturing facility in Buckeye. None of those plants are in Arizona. The U.S. Department of Environmental Quality has previously settled with Thatcher Company of Nevada for a slew of violations at the company’s plants in Sparks, Nevada. During a “November 2021 inspection and subsequent investigation, EPA determined that the facility did not have the required safety information for equipment inside of its chemical storage and repackaging warehouse,” federal officials claimed. Thatcher was ordered to pay a penalty of $69,396 and was ordered to buy an environmental project valued at $110,000. In 2019, more than 50 people were treated after a “significant” leak at the company’s plant in Salt Lake City, according to the Deseret News.

Pro-Iran Iraqi fighter killed in strike on eastern Syria

Beirut, Lebanon — An Iraqi fighter from an Iran-backed group was killed in an overnight airstrike in eastern Syria near the Iraq border, the group and a war monitor said Saturday. The strike occurred in Deir Ezzor province, where Iran wields significant influence and which is regularly targeted by Israel and the United States, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. "An Iraqi member in the Islamic Resistance in Iraq was killed, and two others were injured in a preliminary toll, as a result of an unknown airstrike," the Observatory said, referring to a loose alliance of Iran-backed groups. The Britain-based monitor, which relies on a network of sources inside Syria, said an explosion was heard coinciding with the strike "in Albukamal countryside ... a few kilometers away from [the] Syrian-Iraqi borders." Iraq's Sayyed al-Shuhada Brigades announced the death of a fighter in a strike "Friday which targeted his vehicle during a reconnaissance patrol on the Iraqi-Syrian border," accusing the United States of being behind the attack. Responsibility for the strike was not immediately claimed, but a spokesperson for the U.S.-led military coalition formed in 2014 to fight the Islamic State group told AFP that "neither the coalition nor U.S. forces carried out overnight strikes in Deir Ezzor." The Observatory said that several hours before the strike, drones flew over the area. Since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes, primarily targeting pro-Iran groups — which it rarely comments on publicly. In late March, 16 Tehran-affiliated fighters, including an Iranian military adviser, were killed in strikes on eastern Syria. The strikes also killed one civilian working for the World Health Organization. Iran has long been a key ally of the Syrian government, most notably providing military advisers.

‘One Of The Wildest Stories I’ve Ever Heard’: Michael Knowles Interviews Christian Couple Who Previously Identified As Gay And Transgender

Daily Wire host Michael Knowles sat down with Christians, Nick and Lex, who say God led them out of homosexual and transgender lifestyles.  Nick, who used to identify as gay, and Lex, a woman who used to identify as a man, told Knowles that they met and got married when they were both living out their LGBT lifestyles. After coming to faith in Jesus Christ, Lex detransitioned and the couple stayed married as a heterosexual couple.  “This is one of the wildest stories I’ve ever heard,” Knowles said. “You, Lex, identified as a man on hormones for 14 years. You, Nick, identified as a homosexual.”  “I’m just going to shut up. Tell me everything,” said Knowles.  The young couple described how God renewed their minds and Lex’s “physical body.” Lex said that early in their relationship, she had to get biopsies which found cancerous cells inside of her. After detransitioning, Lex said that a doctor from Planned Parenthood was shocked and told them, “This doesn’t make physical possible sense, but you no longer have any cancerous cells in your body.” Nick and Lex added that after they received the good news about the disappearance of the cancerous cells in Lex’s body, they were blessed with a “miracle.” WATCH THE FULL INTERVIEW TO HEAR ABOUT THE COUPLE’S ‘MIRACLE’ “I think it just goes to show that anyone can transform or turn into anything that they want. But nobody talks about transforming back to the original design that you’re supposed to be,” said Nick. “The world can tell you so much about who you’re supposed to be based off of your interests or your personality type, and try to fit you into all of these crazy, outlandish boxes that might necessarily make you feel included for a time.”   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lex Renick (@revivetravelingministry) Lex discussed how she “bought into the lie” of the LGBT movement, adding, “The whole world in the queer community was saying, well, you know, if God made you then God made you this way.”  “That argument doesn’t work with the trans community,” she said. “Because if we say, God made me this way, then that means that I should have been a woman.”  Lex, who said she struggled with gender dysphoria from the age of 5, also told Knowles that she was abused as a child by multiple people, including her alcoholic mother. While she struggled with her gender identity and abuse, Lex said she would desperately look to find a loving community but was rejected by her family and a church she tried to attend for living out her LGBT lifestyle.  “As a child, I was just rejected. My ‘Christian household’ struggled with alcoholism [and] abuse. … My own mother looked me in the eye and said, ‘If I would have known that you were going to be my child, I would have aborted you.’ And she said that to me, because I was struggling with my gender and my sexuality,” Lex said.  “And so I would run to my family for safety. I’d run to my family to love me. When I was seeking a savior, I’d run to a church and the church would reject me,” she added. “And I ran to this loving community, and that was the queer community because they accepted me for me, not that I needed edifying or acceptance from the church. I just needed a loving body of believers or family to wrap their arms around me and say, ‘Hey, we’re going to walk with you through this journey.’ But all I faced was rejection.”  Nick said he was grateful that his experience identifying as gay as a teenager did not result in the rejection that Lex faced. He said his family “never tried to change me, but they still loved me. However, they didn’t condone or agree with what I was doing, and that is the exact Christian model of how I feel we should address the community. … We can’t shun or reject nor condone at the same time.”  Lex added that she was the one who proposed to Nick and asked his parents for his hand in marriage, but before she asked them, she told them about her transgender identity, adding that she even wanted to have children when she still identified as a man.  “They must have been so relieved,” Knowles quipped. “My son accidentally married a woman.”  The couple said they eventually found a church community that didn’t condone their LGBT identities, but also showed them the love they were so desperately looking for.    View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lex Renick (@revivetravelingministry) “Although they believed fully the word of God and we struggled with what it said about same-sex, they chose to love us,” Lex said, describing a church they were a part of for a time in Las Vegas. “And that ministered to our hearts so much because we got to hang out with more believers and allow God to do the work on our heart and then have friends in our life to encourage us in the leading of the Lord rather than separating and kind of gatekeeping Jesus by taking people out of the church.” Watch the full interview:

Why Did Rome Fall?: Ben Shapiro Examines The End Of The World’s Most Famous Empire In Latest ‘Facts’ Episode

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro discusses the fall of the Roman Empire and how it relates to the current threats faced by the U.S. in his latest episode of “Facts.”  Inflation, Barbarian invasions, political upheaval, and environmental disaster hit Rome while a declining morality and civic virtue also swept through the populace eventually leading to the empire’s fall. Today, the U.S. and much of Western civilization stand “at a crossroads where similar challenges threaten our stability,” Shapiro said.  “Why did Rome fall? At its height, the Roman Empire was an unparalleled superpower, encompassing vast territories across Europe, Asia, and Africa. It boasted advanced infrastructure, a complex political system, and an extremely powerful military,” the Daily Wire host said. “However, by the fifth century A.D., the empire was in severe decline.”  “The Western Roman Empire, the territory comprising modern day Italy, Spain, France, Portugal and much of northern Africa fell because of a confluence of factors. Those factors break down into essentially four: economic, governmental, environmental, and social,” Shapiro added.  On the economic front, Shapiro said that Roman emperors slowly reduced the silver content of coins, which led to “rampant inflation.”  “This erosion of monetary value, debasing the currency, severely weakened the economy and eroded trust in the government’s financial management,” he added. “Without a free market, the heavy hand of the Roman military had to be applied more broadly in order to gain resources that also meant higher costs.” While inflation grew, the government increased taxes on the rich and relied more heavily on slave labor. Around the end of the third century, Emperor Diocletian tried to control prices, which ultimately failed and led to a more centralized economy.  The economic collapse was followed by the empire’s failure to protect its borders, leading to Barbarian raids and invasions that Shapiro said “were simply the culmination of three centuries of deterioration in the fiscal capacity of the state to defend itself.”  Shapiro then described the governmental failure of the Roman Empire. A centralized and powerful government required a centralized and powerful military — control of which was vital for the emperor.  “This meant that anyone who could gain credibility with the army could make a play for the throne. And that’s precisely what happened,” Shapiro said. “Repeated military coups — the third century A.D. saw 29 different emperors. Emperors were frequently overthrown or assassinated, leading to a rapid turnover of leadership. This political turmoil weakened the central authority and made it difficult to implement consistent policy.”  Next, environmental issues, such as the Plague of Cyprian in the third century A.D. decimated the empire’s population, including the population of able-bodied young men. The empire also faced food shortages following soil depletion and deforestation, Shapiro said.  Then, there was the moral collapse of the Roman Empire. Shapiro quotes historian Victor Davis Hanson, who said, “Clearly the pernicious effects of affluence and laxity warped Roman sensibility and created a culture of entitlement that was not justified by revenues or the creation of actual commensurate wealth, and the resulting debits, inflation, debased currency, and gradual state impoverishment gave the far more vulnerable Western empire far less margin of error when barbarians arrived or rival generals marched on Rome.”  “The Roman Empire teaches us that no civilization, regardless of its power and influence, is immune to decline if it fails to uphold the principles of responsibility, civic virtue, cultural integrity, and freedom,” Shapiro concluded. “It’s incumbent upon us to learn from history, to strengthen our institutions, and to foster a society that values freedom, resilience, and relentless pursuit of truth.”

No matter your age, everyone deserves a nice treat on their birthday. Even if you have to work, that doesn’t mean you can’t make your big day special. If you need an example of how that’s possible, look no further than this Purdue University professor. Although this professor had classes to teach on the day he turned 50 years old, this didn’t stop him from getting a tasty acai bowl — in fact, he did so much more! According to one of his students, Ashtyn Huber, he didn’t want to be the only one enjoying a nice treat during class. So, instead, he gathered his entire class for a trip to get acai bowls. Best of all, he paid for it all! Excited about this surprise, Ashtyn documented the birthday festivities. @ashtyn1018 we love our dr. b #purdue #acai #fieldtrip #krannert ♬ Special people by botefilms – Mario Bote In the video, we can see that the class is not particularly small. Still, this generous professor doesn’t hesitate to treat his class on his own birthday. And based on the looks on the students’ faces, they couldn’t be happier about it! Over a million people have seen Ashtyn’s video, and the consensus is clear: This is one incredible professor! Purdue University Professor Treats Students to Acai Bowls For His Birthday “This is adorable,” someone writes in the comments. “He wanted to celebrate his birthday with you all.” Although most of the comments are from strangers all around the world, there was a single comment that came from a particularly special person. “This is my dad,” Maggie Bittinger shares. “Thank you so much for making this!!” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here!
