WhatsApp and Telegram were just banned from Apple’s App Store in China

China bans WhatsApp‚ Signal‚ Threads‚ and Telegram from the iPhone's App Store. The Wall Street Journal says Apple had to comply with the country's censorship demand. In a statement sent to the publication‚ Apple said‚ &;quot; The Cyberspace Administration of China ordered the removal of these apps from the China storefront based on their national security concerns. &;quot; We are obligated to follow the laws in the countries where we operate‚ even when we disagree.&;quot; Still‚ some other popular foreign apps are still available‚ such as Meta's Facebook and Instagram‚ Google's YouTube‚ and Elon Musk's X. At this moment‚ it's unclear why China banned WhatsApp‚ Threads‚ and other apps for security concerns. However‚ this isn't the first time the country has prohibited apps for no reason. One of the possibilities of this Chinese ban on WhatsApp and other apps is that they didn't comply with a new rule that requires all apps available in China to register with the government. While this ban might cause some astonishment for Westerners‚ these apps are not widely used in the country. Image source: Visual China Group via Getty Images/Visual China Group via Getty Images Firstly‚ they are already blocked on Chinese networks by the &;quot;Great Firewall‚&;quot; which means they need to be used with a virtual private network or other tools‚ and the main messaging app used in the country is WeChat. For social media‚ Weibo is the most popular app in the region. Over the years‚ Apple has banned several apps from the Chinese App Store after the government requested that they be banned. Cupertino has made odd choices to comply with the country responsible for manufacturing most of its products and the second most profitable region after America. For example‚ the company first restricted AirDrop in the region after protesters would send information against the government via AirDrop. Later‚ the company rolled out AirDrop restrictions to all users globally as a measure to avoid spam. BGR will update this story if we hear from Meta‚ Telegram‚ or Signal about why their apps were banned in China. NOMVDIC P2000 is the best UST 4K laser projector I’ve tested in a long time

NOMVDIC P2000 is the best UST 4K laser projector I’ve tested in a long time

So much has changed in the home theater projector market over the past few years. There used to be a handful of big-name brands that you could choose from‚ and everything else was low-quality. But now‚ that's no longer the case — and the best proof of that might be the relatively new NOMVDIC P2000 ultra short throw 4K triple-laser projector. NOMVDIC‚ which is a stylized name that's pronounced just like &;quot;nomadic‚&;quot; is a relative newcomer to the UST laser projector space. But the company's P2000 4K triple laser projector is the most impressive UST projector I've tested in the past year. It offers the best balance of performance and features at a comparatively low price. That's especially true right now‚ while it's on sale with a big $700 discount. NOMVDIC P2000 Ultra Short Throw 4K Triple Laser Projector‚ 2500 ANSI Lumen‚ 50W Speaker‚ Dolby… Price: $2‚299.00 Buy Now When it comes to ultra short throw laser projectors‚ there's no question that there are higher-quality projectors out there than the NOMVDIC P2000. One of the highest-rated models is the AWOL Vision LTV-3500 Pro‚ which offers mind-blowing clarity and much better brightness than NOMVDIC's P2000. Why am I more impressed with the P2000‚ you ask&;#63; Well‚ the AWOL model costs a staggering $6‚500. Another great option is the LG HU915QB‚ but that model retails for $5‚500. You get the idea. If you can afford to spend that kind of money‚ there are several terrific options out there for you. But if you're like me and you're looking to strike a better balance between quality and price‚ the NOMVDIC P2000 should definitely be on your list of contenders. I've been testing the NOMVDIC P2000 ultra short throw 4K triple-laser projector for more than six months now‚ so I'm more than familiar with its features and performance. This model features a triple-laser projector that can beam a 100-inch picture from just 6.7 inches away from your wall or projector screen. At just under 1.5 feet from your wall‚ the picture size balloons to a massive 150 inches. What's more‚ the P2000 offers very impressive brightness for a UST projector in this price range. NOMVDIC claims it supports up to 2500 ANSI lumens. In my testing‚ I found that it was closer to 2200 ANSI lumens with the brightness maxed out. In either case‚ that's very impressive for this class of UST projector. I also found that the P2000 has a dynamic contrast ratio of around 4850:1‚ which is extremely impressive for a UST laser projector in this price range. As a matter of fact‚ that's better than some projectors that cost twice as much. NOMVDIC P2000 Ultra Short Throw 4K Triple Laser Projector‚ 2500 ANSI Lumen‚ 50W Speaker‚ Dolby… Price: $2‚299.00 Buy Now With the NOMVDIC P2000‚ you also get support for Dolby Vision and 3D‚ though I didn't test the latter feature. Let's be honest... who bothers with 3D TV these days&;#63; More important to me were the built-in 50W speakers‚ which actually surprised me with how good they sounded. These speakers can't replace a high-end surround sound setup or even a soundbar from a brand like Sonos or Bose‚ of course. But they're much better than the built-in speakers that come on most TVs. That being said‚ you'll still want to use an external speaker setup to get the best possible home theater experience. In the end‚ the NOMVDIC P2000 offers the best bang for your buck among all of the UST projectors I have tested over the past 12-18 months. This model offers better picture quality‚ contrast‚ and brightness than comparable models whether you use a wall or a projector screen. Of course‚ you'll need a very dark room to enjoy decent picture quality if you're projecting on a wall‚ as is the case with any UST laser projector. I recommend using a decent ambient light rejecting projector screen instead. At $2‚999‚ the NOMVDIC P2000 is already a solid value. As I mentioned earlier‚ however‚ this model is currently on sale for $2‚299. This discount comes courtesy of a $450 price drop‚ plus a $250 coupon that you can clip on Amazon's product page. As you can see on NOMVDIC's own site‚ it's still listed at $2‚999‚ so this is a big $700 discount. Of note‚ this is close to the all-time low price for the P2000 4K UST projector. It's an excellent deal for a UST projector with this model's quality and features. NOMVDIC P2000 Ultra Short Throw 4K Triple Laser Projector‚ 2500 ANSI Lumen‚ 50W Speaker‚ Dolby… Price: $2‚299.00 Buy Now Finally‚ if you want to check out an unbiased‚ in-depth comparison that includes the P2000 alongside eight other UST 4K laser projector models‚ check out the YouTube video below from The Hook Up. https://www.youtube.com/watch&;#63;v=Ef0tNjGDoOU Don't Miss: Today’s deals: ASUS Deal Days‚ $189 AirPods Pro‚ Ring Cam sale‚ Dreo tower fans‚ Coway air purifiers‚ more The post NOMVDIC P2000 is the best UST 4K laser projector I’ve tested in a long time appeared first on BGR. HomePod with display leak shows Apple’s already working on a third-generation smart speaker

Apple has been working on several home products. Although the only few we have seen so far are a slew of HomePod models and new iterations of Apple TVs‚ the company is working on at least four main smart home products that could launch soon. One is a HomePod with a display‚ which has been rumored for a few years. Most recently‚ X user Kosutami has been sharing images of what could be on the screen of this new product. On the social media platform‚ they posted: &;quot;New picture of the HomePod with display. Glossy‚ sick‚ just imagine.&;quot; https://twitter.com/Kosutami_Ito/status/1781048272972575199&;#63;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Although the HomePod already features a screen‚ this new generation would bring more interactions‚ such as pieces of information‚ songs‚ weather data‚ etc. Still‚ besides this new HomePod in the works‚ Apple is also working on a more sophisticated version‚ which other leakers have reported on. For example‚ Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says Cupertino wants to create a “HomePod with a screen that swivels like a robotic arm.” The release date of this HomePod with an iPad-like display is unclear‚ but a version that could be magnetically attached to a wall was also possible. Still‚ Bloomberg’s journalist believes that Apple hasn’t made enough advance to consider the release date of a HomePod with a screen imminent. Gurman’s sources tell him that Apple “continues to pursue this idea and has begun early work on it with overseas suppliers‚ including China’s BYD‚ which makes some iPad models.” That said‚ at the earliest‚ a product launch wouldn’t come until 2025. Interestingly‚ in 2023‚ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple was readying a HomePod with a screen for the first half of 2024. The analyst believed it could feature a 7-inch display with Tianma manufacturing it. “The HomePod‚ which equips a panel‚ could enable tighter integration with Apple’s other hardware products‚ marking a significant shift in the company’s smart home strategy‚” Kuo wrote. Wrap up While the ultimate goal would be for Apple to expand its HomePod lineup with more than small and bigger versions‚ I feel like a HomePod with a circular display could be a nice addition. However‚ a HomePod with an iPad-like screen could be the ultimate combo. Imagine creating perfect recipes in the kitchen by watching a video on this product‚ talking to someone over FaceTime‚ or even watching your favorite video clip with better audio than on your iPhone. This device could also be handy for controlling your home‚ such as seeing who’s in your front door‚ controlling the thermostat‚ performing automation‚ etc. Lastly‚ this HomePod with a screen could complement the sound experience with a pair of other HomePod models. BGR will keep following the latest reports about this product.
