Goldie Hawn: Spectacular photos of the Hollywood icon

Goldie Jeanne Hawn has captivated audiences with her radiant personality and versatile acting skills for decades. Born on November 21‚ 1945‚ in Washington‚ D.C.‚ Goldie Hawn began her career as a dancer but soon turned her sights to the world of acting. Hawn’s journey to stardom began in the late 1960s when she joined the cast of the popular sketch comedy show “Rowan &; Martin’s Laugh-In.” Here‚ Hawn developed her trademark giggle and bouncy blonde persona‚ which would become her signature in the many roles she played. In 1969‚ Hawn’s film career took a significant step forward with her performance in “Cactus Flower‚” for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. This role showcased her ability to blend comedy with a touch of vulnerability‚ a recipe that proved successful in her subsequent films. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s‚ Hawn starred in a string of successful movies‚ including “Shampoo‚” “Private Benjamin‚” and “Overboard.” Each film highlighted her knack for comedy‚ yet she also took on roles that showcased her range as an actress‚ dealing with themes of independence and self-discovery. “Private Benjamin‚” in particular‚ entertained and resonated with its message of empowerment‚ earning Hawn an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Beyond her acting career‚ Hawn has also made her mark as a director and producer. Off-screen‚ her long-standing relationship with actor Kurt Russell is one of Hollywood’s most enduring love stories. Together‚ they share a blended family‚ including actors Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson‚ continuing Hawn’s legacy in the entertainment industry. Split: CBS’s Patta Fears World Has Ditched Gazans‚ Dokoupil Blasts Pro-Hamas Protests

Tuesday’s CBS Mornings presented something for everyone on Israel vs. Hamas as‚ along with another anti-Israel‚ pro-Hamas report from CBS foreign correspondent Debora Patta griping about global concern for Israel over Iran’s missile and drone attacks “distracted...from the misery of Gaza”‚ co-host Tony Dokoupil stated the obvious (but isn’t on the left) that pro-Hamas protesters blocking roads in the U.S. are not protected by the First Amendment. Patta was cued up by co-host and Democratic donor Gayle King‚ who claimed there’s “disagreement among Israelis over what should happen next” in response “to Iran’s massive missile and drone attack on Israel.”     Instead of criticizing Iran‚ Patta blamed Israel by downplaying Iran’s attempted show of force: “Engineered for maximum effect but resulting in minimal damage‚ the Iranian assault has triggered global calls for restraint.” The South African reporter went to a former Israeli general to claim Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — as opposed to Hamas or Iran — is a threat to Israel’s existence. In other words‚ someone with Netanyahu Derangement Syndrome (click “expand”): PATTA: Retired two-star Israeli Nimrod Sheffer does not believe Prime Minister Netanyahu is the right person to make such a critical decision. NIMROD SHEFFER: So‚ if you ask me if Netanyahu is a risk to the state of Israel‚ my opinion is yes. PATTA: He believes Netanyahu has a vested interest in prolonging the war in Gaza and escalating the conflict in Iran in order to stay in power. HEFFER: If you’re retaliating just to show that you’re strong enough‚ it’s the wrong idea. It’s the wrong strategy. Patta then performed a sob story about Hamas-controlled (and supporting) Gaza‚ whining “[t]he fear of an all-out regional war has distracted the attention away from the misery of Gaza” and “extreme hunger stalk[ing]” Palestinians‚ adding (click “expand”): There are still regular air strikes‚ each day bringing new grief and fresh drama....More aid is arriving‚ but it is not enough. They are desperate cues. This bakery in the north reopened for the first time in more than six months of war after the World Food Program brought in fuel and flour. Food prices have soared‚ and those who can’t afford the rising costs are frantically trying to access their money. Banks are running out of cash. With both an unfinished war in Gaza and escalating tensions with Iran‚ Israel is weighing how to respond to the assault. Senior experts have told us the war cabinet must balance retaliation with ensuring it does not fracture the international alliance it has built up against Tehran.  Prior to this‚ featured co-host Vladimir Duthiers had a news brief on what he described as “pro-Palestinian protests that disrupted traffic in major U.S. cities yesterday” such as on San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge‚ the Brooklyn Bridge‚ and roads leading into Chicago’s O’Hare airport. In other words‚ terrorist sympathizers painted as totally harmless.  Dokoupil interjected with a two-sentence reality check: “Stopping traffic is not a protected First Amendment right. This is something different.” Duthiers and King were both awkwardly left to interject with the former giving an “indeed” and the latter saying‚ “mmhmm.” Aside from Dokoupil‚ the liberal journalists on NBC’s Today were much more in line with Duthiers in giving almost dry descriptions of the terrorist supporters. In opening teases‚ co-host Hoda Kotb merely said the Middle East tensions “spill[ed] over into the streets here at home” with “protesters demanding a ceasefire in Gaza blocking traffic on roads‚ bridges and airports” to the point that “[s]ome” would-be airport passengers” were “forced to abandon their cars and walk”. Kotb also had an opening tease in the second hour that described these thugs as “protests calling for a ceasefire ramp[ing] up” their hooliganism “in cities across the U.S.” Co-host Savannah Guthrie struck the same note: “Here at home‚ protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza‚ disrupted cities nationwide yesterday‚ shutting down major roads‚ snarling traffic.” In the first hour‚ chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel reported in a voice-over from Israel that‚ over in the U.S.‚ “pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets‚ blocking traffic from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to Seattle‚ Chicago's O’Hare airport‚ and New York to demand a ceasefire.” Engel had a liveshot in the second hour with similar verbiage: “And all of this is playing out domestically in the United States with those protests‚ as you mentioned‚ pro-Palestinian demonstrators shutting down roads‚ coast to coast‚ yesterday[.]” To see the relevant transcripts from April 16‚ click here (for CBS) and here (for NBC).

Gov. Whitmer proposes $8M for attorneys for asylum-seeking immigrants‚ 97% of whom are reportedly in the US illegally

Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan has proposed spending millions of dollars to provide legal representation to immigrants looking to claim asylum in the United States‚ the vast majority of whom are reportedly facing deportation because they are in the country illegally. In fiscal year 2025‚ Whitmer would like to designate $8 million to provide legal assistance to immigrants seeking asylum in the U.S. because they fear persecution in their home country. Some in her state have cheered the proposal. Capital News Service even claimed it could be &;quot;lifesaving.&;quot;&;quot;I get calls every day from people who need legal help‚ who have called every nonprofit in the state‚&;quot; said Sabrina Balgamwalla‚ the director of the Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic at Wayne State University. &;quot;I have to turn them away because our docket is full.&;quot;Capital News Service seemed to lament that‚ as of December‚ just 32% of immigration cases in Michigan involved an attorney. Without one‚ an applicant's chances of winning an immigration case are about 10%‚ Transitional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University suggested.Elizabeth Orozco-Vasquez‚ the chief executive officer at Freedom House in Detroit‚ claimed that asylum applicants are &;quot;twice as likely&;quot; to be successful with an attorney helping them. However‚ according to the top Republican in the state House‚ most people who request asylum in the U.S. do so only as a last resort to keep from being deported. &;quot;More than 97% of asylum seekers in fiscal year 2023 claimed asylum defensively after they were facing deportation‚&;quot; said state Rep. Matt Hall of Richland Township‚ &;quot;and most asylum claims get denied.&;quot;According to a federal government website‚ deportation is a process to remove &;quot;noncitizens&;quot; who have violated U.S. immigration law by violating their visa‚ threatening public safety‚ or committing a crime. In other words‚ they are apparently in the country illegally.&;quot; In Michigan‚ Gretchen Whitmer is trying to talk tough while using taxpayer-funded aid to encourage these very illegal aliens‚&;quot; Hall added. &;quot;First she offered them rent assistance‚ and now she’s hoping to pay attorneys to help them obstruct deportation.&;quot; On Monday‚ reporters asked Whitmer about the proposed money to provide attorneys for asylum-seekers as well as her Newcomer Rental Subsidy program‚ which provides $500 a month in rental assistance to some asylum-seekers and other &;quot;newcomers&;quot; for up to 12 months. &;quot; If you are here illegally‚ I do not believe you should have access [to those programs]‚&;quot; Whitmer replied.&;quot;I know that we’ve got to reform immigration in this country. There is no question about that. It’s important that we do it in a responsible way because our economy relies [on those individuals‚]&;quot; she continued.&;quot; That is the greatest strength of our state and country.&;quot;Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Homeowner shoots one intruder‚ other intruder commits suicide during 'targeted' home invasion‚ California police say

California police are investigating a bizarre alleged home invasion that was thwarted by an armed homeowner and led to one suspect getting shot and the other committing suicide. The Newport Beach Police Department said they were called to the site of a possible home invasion at about 4:45 in the morning on Tuesday. The caller had indicated to police that someone in the home had shot one of the two suspects involved in the invasion. When they arrived at the home on Vista Luci‚ they found a man with multiple gunshot injuries outside with a shotgun next to him. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment‚ and he is expected to survive. Police then began a search for the second suspect in the home invasion. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was able to find the second suspect hiding in bushes near the home. A short time later‚ he was found to have apparently killed himself by shooting himself in the head. Sgt. Steve Oberon with the NBPD told reporters in a media briefing that they believed the incident was not a random home invasion but was a targeted incident. He went on to say that they believe the family knew either both of the suspects or one of them and that the incident was not necessarily a robbery. News helicopter footage showed the large police response as several armed officers from the SWAT team approached the front door and searched the second floor. The man shot the two suspects with a 9mm rifle‚ according to police‚ and he was in the home with two females and a child.Newport Beach Mayor Will O'Neill issued a forceful statement against anyone who was considering committing crimes in his city. &;quot;I can tell you right now‚ if you come into Newport Beach to commit a crime‚ we will defend ourselves‚ and today is an example of that‚&;quot; said O'Neill. KTTV-TV reported that the home was located inside a wealthy and exclusive Pelican Heights neighborhood. The gated community is guarded by private security patrols 24 hours a day. Police believe the suspects gained access to the home because they were known to the intended victims. Georgia man admitted to putting antifreeze in newborn baby's milk because he didn't want to pay child support‚ police say

Georgia police said that they worked extra hard to prove a man was guilty of trying to poison his newborn daughter after he retracted his confession. Curtis Jack of South Fulton is accused of the heinous act after he impregnated his coworker in 2022. The mother of the baby said that he had tried to get her to abort the child for the entire nine months of the pregnancy. After the child was born on Sept. 24‚ the mother asked Jack for help because she was forced to stay in the hospital over birth complications. He was asked to pick up two bottles of breast milk from the mother and deliver it to the child's grandmother who was caring for the child on Oct. 10. The child fell critically ill very soon after‚ and detectives from the South Fulton Police Department interviewed Jack about the milk he delivered. He admitted that he had put antifreeze in the milk in order to avoid having to pay child support. However‚ he took back his confession after he was indicted on charges‚ including attempted murder. South Fulton Police Sergeant Pserda Dickerson was the lead detective in the case‚ and he told WSB-TV that they worked harder to prove their case against Jack. “It’s beyond getting a confession we still have to prove someone committed the crime. You still have to prove that the person is guilty‚” he explained. The child's mother told WSB that the girl‚ named Madison‚ was going to be OK. Police told WSB that Jack was engaged to another woman at the time of the incident‚ and that may have also motivated his criminal act. The man was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and first-degree cruelty to children. “It hit home because it was an 18-day-old baby‚” said Dickerson. &;quot; With our job we have to really tap into two different places‚&;quot; he explained. &;quot; We have to do our job‚ we also have to be empathetic with the parent. So it kind of hit home‚ based off of us trying to figure out who done it‚ and what the motives were.&;quot; A jury found Jack guilty of all counts by a unanimous verdict. A judge sentenced the man to 50 years in prison with 40 years to be served in person. Threat to Johnson's speakership looms larger as Massie cosponsors Greene's motion to vacate

Last month‚ Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia targeted House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.)‚ filing a motion to vacate the speakership. Now‚ Greene is getting backup: GOP Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky has announced that he is cosponsoring the motion to vacate.&;quot;I just told Mike Johnson in conference that I'm cosponsoring the Motion to Vacate that was introduced by @RepMTG. He should pre-announce his resignation (as Boehner did)‚ so we can pick a new Speaker without ever being without a GOP Speaker‚&;quot; Massie tweeted on Tuesday. &;quot; He said he won't resign. I said to him that he is the only one who can prevent us from going through what happened last fall‚&;quot; Massie wrote in another post. — (@) Last year‚ after then-Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California was ousted from the speakership slot‚ Republicans struggled to select a replacement but eventually tapped Johnson for the role. McCarthy later chose to leave Congress. On Monday‚ Johnson announced that the House will be voting on measures related to Ukraine aid‚ Israel aid‚ and more.&;quot;Speaker Johnson is not holding Democrats accountable nor leading our Republican majority‚ he's actually giving in to Democrats every demand. And he's using dirty swamp tactics to push through the America Last agenda‚&;quot; Greene declared in a post on X. — (@) &;quot;Speaker Johnson must announce a resignation date and allow Republicans to elect a new Speaker to put America First and pass a Republican agenda. Thank you to @RepThomasMassie for cosponsoring my Motion to Vacate. It’s time for a new Speaker‚&;quot; Greene said in another tweet. — (@) Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Riley Gaines and 15 other women are suing the NCAA for violating Title IX. Here’s where they’re at in the process

When Riley Gaines began her journey as a competitive swimmer‚ little did she show that her toughest battles would take place outside of the swimming pool. After trans swimmer Lia Thomas stole the title from Gaines in the 2022 NCAA championships‚ Gaines has been on a mission to protect the integrity of women’s sports. That endeavor has since evolved into filing a lawsuit‚ alongside fifteen other female athletes‚ against the NCAA for allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports despite Title IX’s legal obligations to protect women. Now‚ she joins Steve Deace to discuss where she’s currently at in the fight. “What is it you want the NCAA to do in response [to the lawsuit]&;#63;” asks Steve. “What we're suing over is the NCAA explicitly and directly violating the federal civil rights law that is Title IX‚” which was “enacted back in 1972” and “prevents discrimination on the basis of sex‚” says Gaines. “What the NCAA has done and continues to do is just that. They're discriminating against us on the basis of our sex; they're failing at their most basic duties of ensuring equal opportunity‚ ensuring safety in our sports‚ and ensuring privacy in areas of undressing‚” she explains. “To answer your question of what we want the NCAA to do is: one‚ [take] accountability‚ two [take] responsibility‚ and three uphold Title IX’s original intent.” “[The NAIA] came out recently and said‚ ‘Hey‚ we're not going to participate in this insanity‚'&;quot; says Steve. “Have your attorneys indicated whether that is a boost to your claims or your case&;#63;” “It is certainly something that has helped the lawsuit‚” she says‚ adding that “the NAIA voting overwhelmingly in support” of “[preventing] men from competing in women's sports and vice versa is huge.” What may come as a surprise to some is that Gaines is actually hopeful that the NCAA will make the right decision. “I think they're excited about our lawsuit‚ to be totally honest with you. They want to be able to say their hands are tied‚” she tells Steve‚ adding that she thinks the NCAA that in the “next two weeks‚ they will be voting on their rules‚ just like the NAIA.” To hear more about the lawsuit and Riley’s experience‚ watch the clip below.
