Today's shot of great country music!

"Coal Miner's Daughter" is a song written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Loretta Lynn. Considered Lynn's signature song, it was originally released as a single in 1970 and became a number one hit on the Billboard country chart. It was later released on an album of the same name. Produced by Owen Bradley, the song tells the story of Lynn's coal-mining father in rural Kentucky during the Great Depression. Lynn, who was born in 1932 and experienced the Great Depression as a child, also describes her childhood and the circumstances she was raised in during those years"

NewsBusters Podcast: Nina Totenberg Radio Exposed Again as Leftist Den

This week‚ National Public Radio senior editor Uri Berliner sent shock waves through their staff by going public with an article on The Free Press website about how they lost the public';s trust due to an explicit animus against Donald Trump. Since Trump entered politics‚ the public radio network';s audience has become even more dominated by very liberal Americans. But it didn';t start with Trump. NewsBusters can tell you NPR has demonstrated a leftist bent from the beginning. NPR legal reporter Nina Totenberg destroyed the Douglas Ginsburg nomination to the Supreme Court in 1987‚ then tried again with Clarence Thomas in 1991. This animus against conservatives didn';t kick in suddenly in 2015.Totenberg‚ both on NPR and on talk shows‚ brazenly represented the leftist tilt of NPR‚ wishing out loud that Sen. Jesse Helms (or one of his grandchildren) would get AIDS‚ and proclaiming after 9/11 that she was ashamed of America when news broke that terrorism suspects were held in secret CIA prisons. There were other outrages over the years on NPR‚ but Totenberg was the ";face"; of left-wing activism.NPR executives tried to claim that ";inclusion"; of differing views is an NPR value -- but anyone who listens to NPR on a regular basis quickly figures out that this is a taxpayer-funded liberal sandbox. There';s no real room for conservative views. When Republicans appear‚ NPR staffers are on the attack.CNN';s Oliver Darcy complained that Uri Berliner';s article demanding more viewpoint diversity on NPR was a ";massive gift to the Right."; On a daily basis‚ taxpayer-funded NPR is nothing short of a massive gift to the Left‚ pumping out progressive propaganda to over 1‚000 stations. Because it has public in its branding‚ too many Americans still think its fair and balanced and a service to everyone‚ which only signals they';re not paying enough attention to the product.Enjoy the podcast below‚ or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Family of 5-year-old who died from horrific abuse says state officials returned her to her mother after previous neglect

The family of a 5-year-old who died from severe neglect is furious at the state government officials who returned the girl to her mother after a previous case of child abuse. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said they were called to a mobile home park over a call about an unresponsive child on Tuesday at about 5:15 p.m.They discovered Kinsleigh Welty inside the home and transported her to Riley Hospital for treatment over severe malnutrition‚ but she died some time later. Court records say that police interviewed the girl';s mother‚ Toni McClure‚ who initially tried to blame the abuse on the girl';s father. When that story fell apart‚ police say she confessed to neglecting her daughter but added that she simply didn';t care.Investigators said the girl was forced to live in a small closet covered with feces.Police said the girl had feces in her hair and on her feet and lice on her head. She also weighed less at age 5 than she had weighed when she was 2 years old.McClure allegedly admitted to locking the girl in the closet and said the girl would ask for food‚ but she did the bare minimum to feed her. She also said that she thought her actions might lead to her daughter';s death but that she wanted to be rid of the girl.Police arrested her for murder after she made the comments. They also arrested her boyfriend Ryan Smith for neglect resulting in death. McClure was also charged with neglect resulting in death. ";Wasn';t a parent‚ she was a monster.";Brian Welty‚ the grandfather of the girl‚ called her death ";horrific"; in a statement to WXIN-TV.Its going to obviously be a memory Ill have my entire life‚ that my granddaughter basically starved to death and it could have been avoided‚"; he added. The family says that McClure had previously been charged with neglect when Kinsleigh had only been 3 weeks old. A judge suspended the woman';s sentence and gave her 400 days of parole. The family says that they were willing to take care of Kinsleigh‚ but officials have a policy of reuniting children with their parents. We were planning on keeping her‚ but DCS has their policy of reunification and thats horrible‚ Welty explained. Reunification from the get-go is the problem in my eyes because no matter what the parent does their goal is reunification. The system has failed this poor child and I dont want her death to be in vain‚ said Hogan. Twice they were taken away for the abuse and neglect and she just kept getting them back. No one knows why. Its a failed system.Indiana Department of Child Services Chief Chris Bailey called the death ";horrific"; in a statement that thanked the officials who handled the case. ";This little girl had no chance whatsoever‚"; said the girl';s great step-aunt Carrie Hogan. ";She had a parent who‚ well‚ she wasn';t a parent‚ she was a monster‚ who failed her in every way."; Shes a wicked woman. Thats all I can say‚ Welty added. Former NIH director Francis Collins to undergo ';radical prostatectomy'; due to cancer

Former National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins‚ 73‚ has revealed that he has prostate cancer. In a Washington Post piece‚ Collins explained that years ago‚ ";My doctor had noted a slow rise in my PSA‚ the blood test for prostate-specific antigen."; ";At first‚ there wasnt much to worry about targeted biopsies identified a slow-growing grade of prostate cancer that doesn';t require treatment and can be tracked via regular checkups‚"; he explained‚ noting that ";things took a turn about a month ago when my PSA rose sharply to 22 normal at my age is less than 5. An MRI scan showed that the tumor had significantly enlarged‚"; he wrote. ";New biopsies taken from the mass showed transformation into a much more aggressive cancer.";Collins noted that later in April he will undergo surgery‚ a radical prostatectomy‚ to excise his prostate gland.";My surgeon will be assisted by a sophisticated robot named for Leonardo da Vinci that employs a less invasive surgical approach than previous techniques‚ requiring just a few small incision‚"; he explained.";Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the United States‚ and about 40 percent of men over age 65 ... have low-grade prostate cancer. Many of them never know it‚ and very few of them develop advanced disease‚"; Collins wrote. ";Prostate cancer is still the No. 2 killer of men.";Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin underwent a prostatectomy due to cancer in December.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Judge rejects Hunter Biden request to dismiss gun case‚ says it is not politically motivated

Hunter Biden';s legal defense suffered a blow in court Friday after a federal judge in Delaware ruled that the federal gun case against the president';s son would continue.Biden is accused of lying about his drug abuse on a background check in Oct. 2018 when he applied for a gun permit. He is facing two counts of lying about drug abuse when seeking to buy a weapon and one charge of unlawful possession of a firearm while addicted to a controlled substance. His attorneys argued that the case against Biden was politically motivated‚ but the judge presiding over the motion disagreed.U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika said that Biden offered ";nothing concrete"; to prove that Republican efforts against him led to the charges he';s facing. The pressure campaign from Congressional Republicans may have occurred around the time that Special Counsel decided to move forward with indictment instead of pretrial diversion‚ but the Court has been given nothing credible to suggest that the conduct of those lawmakers (or anyone else) had any impact on Special Counsel‚ Noreika wrote. It is all speculation.Biden';s attorneys also argued that he had not committed a crime and that a first-time user would not have faced criminal charges. Prosecutors argued that the evidence against Biden was ";overwhelming"; and included the discovery of cocaine residue in the pouch where he kept the gun. Biden is also facing separate charges in California related to alleged tax evasion where he is accused of withholding $1.4 million that he owes to the government and for filing false tax returns. His attorneys had asked for those charges to be dismissed eight times‚ but the judge presiding in that case allowed it to continue. The trial against Biden for the gun charge may be held in June‚ at a time when his father will be in the middle of a campaign to be re-elected. Judge Noreika was appointed by former President Donald Trump in 2018 with Democratic support. She has not yet issued a judgement on Biden';s defense that the charges are infringing on his Second Amendment rights. Hunter Biden was recently spotted at the White House during the annual presidential Easter egg hunt. Here';s more about the case: Like Blaze News? Venezuelan man tries to rob Ohio bank with translation app because he can';t speak English‚ police say

A man from Venezuela tried to rob a bank in Ohio with a translation app‚ according to local police.Sandusky police said they';re not sure if 20-year-old Yeixon Brito-Gonzalez is in the country legally or illegally because he doesn';t have identification.Brito-Gonzalez allegedly walked into the bank in Sandusky at about 11:30 a.m. on April 4‚ according to Sandusky Police Chief Jared Oliver. Police were called to the bank before the alleged robbery because he was loitering and behaving suspiciously.WJW-TV obtained bank security video that shows the man putting up his phone to show cashiers a message because he didn';t speak English. The message on the translator app read get the money and put the money in the bag‚"; and held a white trash bag. When bank workers would not comply‚ they said that Brito-Gonzalez walked out of the bank.Police were able to locate him later and brought a Spanish-speaking officer to talk to him and read him his rights. He denied trying to rob the bank and told police that he merely asked the bank workers to put money in his bag.Oliver said they found the translation app on his phone and also found the white trash bag with him.Brito-Gonzalez is facing charges of attempted robbery‚ a fourth-degree felony‚ attempted theft‚ and criminal trespassing‚ both misdemeanors.I have been in law enforcement for over 20 years and this is the first time I encountered something like this‚ someone using a translator app to try and rob a bank‚ Oliver said. First time our officers have dealt with it too. He went on to say there';s another indication that Brito-Gonzalez might be in the country illegally. It has been brought to my attention customs and border control put a hold on him‚ Oliver said.Brito-Gonzalez is being held at the Erie County Jail‚ where police were able to identify him through the use of an FBI fingerprint database. Here';s more about the incident: Like Blaze News?
