The Biden administration announced a new program to “improve tip reporting compliance” to the IRS more than a year before Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign promised to eliminate tip taxes. The IRS and Treasury departments introduced a new tip reporting program last year called the Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement (SITCA) program. The stated goal of the program is to “improve tip reporting compliance.” “The proposed SITCA program is designed to take advantage of advancements in point-of-sale, time and attendance systems, and electronic payment settlement methods to improve tip reporting compliance,” the IRS stated in a February 2023 announcement. “The proposed program would also decrease taxpayer and IRS administrative burdens and provide more transparency and certainty to taxpayers.” The program is currently optional for employers to enroll, but the program’s intent is to become the “sole tip reporting compliance program for employers in various service industries” and eliminate several other tip reporting processes, according to the IRS. Harris announced on Saturday that, should she win the White House in 2024, she would eliminate taxes on tips. She made the pledge during a rally in Las Vegas on Saturday. “It is my promise to everyone here, when I am president we will continue our fight for working families of America, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” Harris promised the crowd. Trump responded to Harris’ announcement in a post on Truth Social, calling the Harris pledge a an idea stolen from the Trump campaign. “Kamala Harris, whose ‘Honeymoon’ period is ENDING, and is starting to get hammered in the Polls, just copied my NO TAXES ON TIPS Policy. The difference is, she won’t do it, she just wants it for Political Purposes!” Trump posted. “This was a TRUMP idea – She has no ideas, she can only steal from me. Remember, Kamala has proposed the LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HISTORY – It won’t happen. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” Nevada, as a battleground state, could be crucial to determining the 2024 election. Trump currently has an edge over Harris in the state, leading the vice president by nearly 4 points in the Real Clear Politics polling average.

Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) said during an interview over the weekend that if Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump wins back the White House this fall that the administration is willing to threaten an all out trade war against communist China to stop the flow on fentanyl into the United States. Vance’s remarks, which he made during a Sunday interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” with Margaret Brennan, come as hundreds of thousands of Americans have been killed in recent years from the fentanyl crisis, which has worsened under the Biden-Harris Administration. When asked if he views China as a competitor or an adversary, Vance responded: “I think they’re both and I think that what we want to do here is build the kind of international order where we can check China. We don’t want to go to war with China, but certainly they’re an adversary.” “For example, the Chinese know that they’re manufacturing tons of fentanyl, they’re letting come into our country,” he said. “Kamala Harris has done nothing about this. She should apply diplomatic and economic leverage over the Chinese to stop manufacturing this fentanyl, which then comes into the Mexican drug cartels, which they then ship into our country.” Vance said that the solution to the crisis is to go to Chinese dictator Xi Jinping and say: “Your entire economy is going to collapse unless you get access to American markets. You need to take this fentanyl seriously or we are going to impose serious tariffs and economic penalties for not following our laws and not helping us stem the flow of this deadly poison.” When asked if he would be worried about blowback from doing that, Vance responded: “I think that we have a powerful economy, Margaret, with the best workers in the entire world. Former President Donald Trump maintains his strength in the polls despite a major shake-up in the 2024 campaign over the past month fueling the perception that Democrats have gained an edge in the race for the White House, a pollster told The Daily Wire in a new interview. Brent Buchanan, president and founder of Cygnal, spoke with “Morning Wire” co-host John Bickley about what is happening in the polls after Vice President Kamala Harris took the place of President Joe Biden atop the Democratic Party’s ticket. Shrugging off the view that Harris has been surging ahead of Trump in the last few weeks, Buchanan said, “the bigger narrative that I think is being totally missed in the media right now is that Trump’s actually still holding his own and doing well. Kamala just appears to be doing better compared to Biden because his floor was so low.” He added, “It was unrealistically, artificially low in the sense that there were going to be plenty of voters who did not like the guy showed up, held their nose and voted for Biden anyways, and it just wasn’t showing up in polling, but there’s been no degradation of Trump’s ballot share in these polls since they pulled in a swap-a-roo at the top of the ticket.” Biden dropped out of the 2024 race last month after a fumbling debate performance spurred fellow Democrats to increasingly call on him to step aside because of concerns about his mental capacity and electability. Polls had shown Biden lagging behind Trump before he did so. Now, Harris is enjoying a spat of surveys that show her ahead. However, a recent CNBC poll found Trump holding a 2-point lead over Harris and a significant edge when it came to the economy. Buchanan called it a “bipartisan” survey because it featured the work of a Democrat pollster and a Republican pollster. They “both have a profit motive to be correct ’cause they don’t make their money or they’re not being funded to do a bunch of public polls,” Buchanan said. “They do mostly private work for campaigns and, and businesses. So, you know, I tend to put a lot more stock in those types of polls. And what we really pay attention to in polling is not where is it now, but where has it come from and, and why did it get there?” Buchanan said the overall polling picture is likely to look different by mid-September, after the so-called “honeymoon” period for Harris, because she will be more of a defined candidate in the eyes of voters. As it stands, Harris has taken few questions from reporters since replacing Biden and is only just beginning to reveal her positions on policy. With at least one debate between the candidates coming up in the next couple months, Harris in particular faces a risk if voters see her “babbling on about nonsense” without the help of a teleprompter, whereas Trump has already grown into expectations that he “says something that is perceived as kind of off the wall,” Buchanan said. With Harris picking Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate, setting up a VP clash against Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), Buchanan argued the Democrats have chosen to run with “the most progressive, leftist ticket that has ever existed in American history” out of line with most voters. Buchanan, who said he was involved in Dr. Scott Jenson’s unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign against Walz in 2022, also noted that the “stolen valor” accusations may not have the same impact as policy because it “takes a bit of nuance to explain the issue.” Pressed on what his prediction is for the election in November, Buchanan demurred, saying, “There’s just, there’s too many twists and turns between now and then.” He suggested there could be “black swan events” that can disrupt the race, but ultimately contended, “I think if Trump stays on his trajectory and really holds to message on policy and contrast this of, you know, ‘Here’s the America that you’ll get to live in if she is in charge, and here’s the America you’ll get to live in and you already got to experience under me before COVID’ … that choice becomes very easy for the American public.”

Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) slammed ABC News host Jonathan Karl during an interview on Sunday over Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s position on transgender issues involving minors. Karl claimed that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump lied about Walz when he said that Walz signed a law that allows the state to “kidnap” children away from their parents if the parents do not consent to transgender procedures. The far-left law that Walz signed allows the state to take temporary custody of a minor if the minor comes to the state seeking transgender procedures in defiance of their parents. “What President Trump said, John, is that Tim Walz has supported taking children from their parents if the parents don’t consent to gender reassignment. That is crazy,” Vance said. “And, by the way, Tim Walz gets on his high horse about mind your own damn business. One way of minding your own damn business, Jon, is to not try to take any children away from me if I have different moral views than you.” When Karl once again tried to defend Walz, Vance responded: “What I just explained to you, I would describe as kidnapping, Jon. He has absolutely done this stuff.” After Karl continued defend Walz by denying the facts of the matter, Vance shifted the conversation to another important issue in the race. “Why aren’t we talking about inflation? Why aren’t we talking about the fact that groceries are unaffordable thanks to Kamala Harris’ policies, and so is housing?” Vance asked. “We’ve talked a little bit about the border. Why aren’t we talking about the fact that the entire world is on fire because of Kamala Harris’ foreign policy? She’s just asleep at the wheel. We have a set of plans. You talk about sticking to the facts. Left-wing political commentator Charlamagne Tha God, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, said over the weekend that Vice President Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate because she needed a “DEI hire.” McKelvey made the remarks during a Sunday interview with Jonathan Karl on ABC News’ “This Week” while talking about the state of the 2024 presidential election. “I just found out about him over the last couple of weeks,” he said. “At first, I was a little bit disappointed like I knew she — we knew she needed a DEI hire, right?” “So Tim Walz is the DEI hire on this ticket?” Karl asked. “Diversity, equity, inclusion.” “Absolutely,” McKelvey responded. “She needed a white male to make America comfortable. It is what it is. No need for us to, you know, act crazy about it. You know what it is.” McKelvey then falsely claimed that Harris had “very moderate” policy positions despite the fact that she was ranked as the most far-left U.S. Senator. McKelvey said that Harris needed to step up, stop hiding because she is afraid, and do interviews and press conferences. “I feel like she should be any and everywhere, you know, having these conversations,” he said. “I don’t — I truly don’t know why she hasn’t, you know, done any interviews yet because that’s the only reason Donald Trump is still, you know, sucking the — sucking the air out of the headlines, because he keeps headlines going, like he’s everywhere. It appears that, as pertains to their interview of Senator JD Vance, some of the Regime Media Sunday hosts were singing from the same hymnal; particularly on a question that was racially loaded and intended to serve multiple purposes. It is yet another media lie, easily debunkable with the actual record. Per Marc Caputo’s contemporaneous account, Fuentes was not a guest invited by Trump to Mar-a-Lago, but a party crasher: But Trump may have been walking into a trap in Mar-a-Lago’s gilded halls — one that leveraged his own penchant for spectacle and showmanship against him. Ye arrived with three guests, including white nationalist and antisemite Nick Fuentes. Trump has since said he didn’t know Fuentes or his background when they dined together, a claim Fuentes confirmed in an interview, but others at the crowded members-only club figured out his identity. News of the meeting prompted an avalanche of criticism, from some Republican rivals and allies of Trump and his then-week-old presidential campaign.  So what is the purpose of Karl and Brennan linking this easily disprovable lie with Fuentes’ attacks against Usha Vance? It is a race betrayal attack by proxy.  I know this because for the better part of the last decade, I’ve seen Univision’s Jorge Ramos ask Trump-supporting Hispanics how they could support a man who promised to build a wall, or who “called Mexicans rapists and criminals” (another easily disproven hoax). It’s the same thing as what we see the Regime Media try to run on Vance.  “How can you, who married an Indian woman, be the running mate of someone who said these vile things against your wife” would be too obvious, so they do it in a roundabout way, first by expressing sympathy and then the pivot to the dinner- an attack as stupid as it is obvious.  Vance brushes these attacks off with aplomb, aware that they are but the beginning. Nonetheless, the question remains, given the framing and verbiage and timing: was there any coordination involved. Not between the networks, of course. But what interested party might want to make sure that Vance got asked that question in that manner? Given how the rest of the day went for the Regime Media, I don’t blame them for trying. VANCE: The one thing I like about Donald Trump, Jon, is that he actually will talk to anybody. But just because you talk to somebody doesn't mean you endorse their views. And look. I mean, Donald Trump spent a lot of quality time with my wife. Every time he sees her, he gives her a hug, tells her she's beautiful and jokes around with her a little bit. I'm not at all worried about Donald Trump. I'm worried sometimes about these ridiculous attacks. But again, this is what you sign up for when you come into politics.
