UAW Claims Donald Trump And Elon Musk Attempted To “Threaten And Intimidate Workers,” Files Federal Labor Charges

The United Auto Workers Union (UAW) said it has filed federal labor charges against Donald Trump and Elon Musk, alleging the two attempted to “threaten and intimidate workers.” “The UAW has filed federal labor charges against disgraced billionaires Donald Trump and Elon Musk for their illegal attempts to threaten and intimidate workers who stand up for themselves by engaging in protected concerted activity, such as strikes,” UAW stated. When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “Both Trump and Musk want working class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns,” he added. X users criticized UAW in the comments section of its post: As a UAW member this is ridiculous. — Justin (@gore_gorejr) August 13, 2024 There is NOTHING disgraceful about either of those 2 men, shame on you! — Mrs. Costa 's America (@syr3n45) August 13, 2024 You all are the disgraced ones. And you’re just butthurt crybabies that Elon’s company is beating the pants off UAW car makers. Morons. — n0kx (@n0kx_) August 13, 2024 You people are disgusting. If Harris gets in, you can be sure the UAW will end – gasoline powered cars will be banned, automotive manufacturing plants dismantled, and your workers will be out of jobs. There will be no need for you! Oh, and are you now in the job of election… — Myfrustration (@CarolNicke35019) August 13, 2024 Per Reuters: Under federal law, workers cannot be fired for going on strike, and threatening to do so is illegal under the National Labor Relations Act, the UAW said in a statement. It is unclear whether the NLRB would take action against Trump for his comments, but the UAW jumped on his remarks as it continues to rally behind Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris and encourage its nearly 400,000 workers to vote for her over Trump, especially in battleground states like Michigan that could determine who wins the White House in November. The UAW endorsed Harris at the end of July. UAW President Shawn Fain and Trump have exchanged barbs in the past. “This is nothing more than a political HIT JOB on behalf of the Kamala Harris campaign,” journalist Nick Sortor commented. #BREAKING: The UAW Union has announced they’ve filed federal labor charges against Donald Trump and @elonmusk after their Space last night This is nothing more than a political HIT JOB on behalf of the Kamala Harris campaign. Good luck, clowns. pic.twitter.com/4V2eM2mvhg — Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) August 13, 2024 “Charges filed by the #UAW against former President #Trump and @elonmusk are pure BS. They have a right to freely criticize labor unions and strikes. Musk creates jobs for auto workers. The UAW destroys them. The UAW decimated the U.S. Auto industry; Musk is helping to rebuild it,” Peter Schiff said. Charges filed by the #UAW against former President #Trump and @elonmusk are pure BS. They have a right to freely criticize labor unions and strikes. Musk creates jobs for auto workers. The UAW destroys them. The UAW decimated the U.S. Auto industry; Musk is helping to rebuild it. — Peter Schiff (@PeterSchiff) August 13, 2024 CNN reports: The UAW, which recently endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president, filed separate charges against Trump and Musk Monday to the National Labor Relations Board. The charges claim the former president and the Tesla CEO had “interfered with, restrained or coerced employees” who were exercising their right to organize against the company, “suggesting he would fire employees engaged in protected concerted activity, including striking.” UAW president Shawn Fain, a harsh Trump critic, has previously called Trump a “scab.” He praised President Joe Biden for joining a picket line last year when the UAW struck General Motors, Ford and Stellantis all at once. And Fain has repeatedly singled out Tesla, the largest non-union American automaker, as a target for the union’s organizing efforts.

Pro-Trump Super PAC Intends To Spend $100 Million In Ads – Will Begin During Next Week’s Democratic National Convention

A pro-Trump super PAC intends to spend $100 million in ads between now and Labor Day to boost momentum for President Trump. The announcement precedes next week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. The ad blitz will target multiple battleground states, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina. New: Pro-Trump super PAC plans $100 million ad blitz. The ad blitz will start during the week of the DNC Convention. The ads will focus on Harris record on immigration and soft on crime. Ads will play in Arizona Georgia Michigan Nevada North Carolina Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. pic.twitter.com/j5vM8zI5Hr — The Calvin Coolidge Project (@TheCalvinCooli1) August 12, 2024 From POLITICO: MAGA Inc, the principal Trump-aligned super PAC, announced the reservations in a memo to “Interested Parties” on Monday. The commercials will air in seven Rust Belt and Sun Belt states that are likely to determine the outcome of the election. Republicans have spent several weeks scrambling to undercut Vice President Kamala Harris, who entered the race last month after President Joe Biden withdrew. The super PAC’s ads will focus on defining Harris as a “soft-on-crime radical who is too dangerous for the White House,” the organization’s top strategists, David Lee and Chris Grant, write in the memo. “Americans might vote for a liberal, but they won’t vote for a lunatic.” The group’s attack — which will coincide with the start of next week’s Democratic National Convention — focuses on Harris’ immigration policies and her past record as a prosecutor, according to a person familiar with the super PAC’s plans who was granted anonymity to describe them. Finally. . . I wish someone would have run some Trump ads during the Olympics. But better late than never: Pro-Trump super PAC plans $100M ad blitz. https://t.co/2UfNb53kgi — Ned Ryun (@nedryun) August 13, 2024 Perhaps the swing states will receive a flurry of ads like the one Trump posted to his X account on Monday?   WATCH: MEET SAN FRANCISCO RADICAL KAMALA HARRIS! https://t.co/MlIKklPSJT pic.twitter.com/lv4nGjNzae — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 12, 2024 CNN reports: As CNN previously reported, MAGA Inc. told donors it raised nearly $70 million in May and shared plans to spend $100 million this summer in key battleground states. At the time, Taylor Budowich, the CEO of MAGA Inc., laid out plans to boost Trump in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada and Arizona. MAGA Inc. has already run $111.6 million in pro-Trump advertising since the start of 2023 through Monday, including on digital ads. The super PAC played an instrumental role in Trump’s paid messaging during both the primary and the past summer months when the Trump campaign was mostly off the air. And just since Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee after Super Tuesday in March, MAGA Inc. has run $71.2 million worth of advertising through Monday.
