The Department of Justice announced Thursday morning that a top leader of the violent MS-13 gang had been arrested in Virginia and would soon be deported. Alongside FBI Director Kash Patel and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the leader of MS-13 for the East Coast had been taken into custody about 30 miles outside of Washington, D.C. The arrest was part of a federal, state, and local task force that has been working for weeks on the operation. “Early this morning, one of the top leaders of MS-13 was apprehended,” Bondi announced at a press conference. “He was the leader for the East Coast, one of the top three in the entire country. Right here in Virginia, living half an hour outside of Washington, D.C. He is an illegal alien from El Salvador and he will not be living in our country much longer. That’s what matters, that’s what happens. America is safer today because one of the top domestic terrorists in MS-13 is off the streets,” Bondi said.  Bondi said that the undisclosed advanced technology had been used in the operation and that the DOJ would continue to push to dismantle MS-13 completely. She said that the man arrested was one of the top three MS-13 leaders in the United States. Youngkin said that the arrest was made in Dale City, Virginia, and that the MS-13 leader was “going to go back where he came from.” He said that the arrest was made possible by the Trump administration, saying that he had little help from the Biden Administration his first three years as governor. Bondi said that the kind of task force created would be offered to every other state around the country. President Donald Trump celebrated the arrest on Truth Social, praising his border czar, Tom Homan. “Just captured a major leader of MS13. Tom HOMAN is a superstar!” Trump posted on Truth Social.  White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also announced the arrest. “This is what happens when you have competent federal leadership working with state/local law enforcement on the ground!” she posted on X. 

New polling shared exclusively with The Daily Wire shows that a majority of residents in Maine are in favor of protecting girls’ and women’s sports, falling in line with President Donald Trump on transgender policy. The American Parents Coalition surveyed around 600 registered Maine voters, 63% of whom said school sports participation should be based on biological sex. Sixty-six percent agreed it’s “only fair to restrict women’s sports to biological women.” The poll also found that 60% of respondents would support a ballot measure limiting participation in women’s and girls’ sports to biological females, including 64% of independents and 66% of parents with kids under age 18. Residents were also asked about gender-related policies in schools, with respondents strongly agreeing that school personnel do not have a right to secretly discuss gender with students. Seventy-two percent of respondents said schools should be required to notify a student’s parents before counseling the child about changing their gender identity, and 64% said they don’t think school administrators and teachers should be permitted to withhold information about a child’s desire to change genders. Maine’s Democrat Governor Janet Mills got into a public spat with Trump last month when she refused to comply with the president’s order barring males from girls’ sports, arguing that she was following state law. However, federal Title IX rules separate sports based on sex to ensure equal opportunity. Only recently has the federal government decided to effectively interrupt Title IX through the lens of so-called gender identity, a notion Trump has strongly rejected.  Moreover, as the poll suggests, Maine residents do not agree with Mills’ position. Even before polling was available, Maine State Rep. Laurel Libby (R), who was censured for calling attention to Maine’s transgender sports policy, said residents want to protect girls’ sports. “They know, just like I knew that evening, that it is inherently unfair,” she said. “It is unfair for biological males with their physiologic advantages to be participating in girls’ sports and to be replacing girls, to be taking their place. They know that Maine girls don’t have a fair and level playing field and that that is absolutely wrong.” The Daily Wire also spoke to investigative reporter and Editor-in-Chief of The Maine Wire, Steven Robinson, who echoed Libby. “I would say all the activism has been in favor of Representative Laurel Libby — in favor of keeping boys out of girls’ sports,” Robinson told The Daily Wire on Wednesday. “I don’t think you’ve seen any counter demonstrations. It really seems like the national attitude of basically 80-20, 90-10 is reflected here, even if Maine is a blue state.”  American Parents Coalition Executive Director Alleigh Marré said their polling “affirms what we all know to be true.” “Governor Mills and Maine Democrats are acting on political motivations, not what’s best for or desired by a majority of Mainers,” she said. “Allowing biological males to compete with girls robs female athletes of the opportunity to compete and win on a level playing field. While Mainers overwhelmingly support this fact, their out-of-touch leadership does not.” Related: Trump Admin Gives Maine 10 Days To Comply With WH, Block Males From Female Sports
