Wildfire at Our Doorstep! Urgent Homestead Defense Update
Beloved friends, today we face an intense challenge as a massive wildfire threatens our homestead. Here's the latest update on our situation and preparations: 0:00 - Urgent Update & Fire Status We’ve been closely monitoring air traffic, and two Type 2 tankers are dropping on the fire right now. The wildfire is approximately 2 miles due north of us and growing rapidly. 0:22 - Nightly Fire Growth & Team Response The fire saw significant growth last night. A Type 2 team has been deployed to manage the blaze. Pyrocumulus clouds indicate an extremely hot and aggressive fire. 0:45 - Our Preparation & Readiness Huge shoutout to the war band for their incredible help today. We've staged crucial equipment: chainsaws, axes, extra fuel, and water. Everyone is geared up in Nomex and ready to assist if needed. 1:25 - Real-time Updates & Communication Mr. Jeriah, my amazing manservant, has been a blessing with his radio expertise. We’re getting real-time updates from multiple scanners and staying informed on aircraft and ground crew activities. 1:58 - Advanced Equipment Setup Thanks to super Skookum antennas from Radio Made Easy, we’re receiving vital aircraft radio traffic. Quads are ready, tools are sharpened, and we’ve replaced all handles. We’ve created a massive water reservoir using the Iron Bowl, lined with plastic, holding around 1,000 gallons. 3:24 - Securing Our Home & Structures All flammable items have been removed from porches and structures. Roofs are laddered for easy access if we need to deal with embers or spot fires. Sprinklers are on and utilities are prepped for shutdown. 4:06 - Documentation & Safety Measures Mrs. W has documented everything inside our home for insurance purposes. We’re ready to shut off gas, propane, and other utilities if necessary. This morning, we had embers the size of our hands falling around us, a stark reminder of the danger. 4:42 - Weather Concerns & Tomorrow’s Critical Forecast Tomorrow’s weather could bring more challenges, with unfavorable conditions expected. We’ll keep you updated with the latest as we face this head-on. 5:01 - Community Support in Crisis The Pacific Crest Trail has been closed, leaving many hikers stranded. We’ve opened our campsite for shelter, offering water, power, and a porta-potty. If you’re watching this and need a place to stay, please reach out. Your prayers and support mean the world to us as we navigate this crisis. I’ll try to throw up a live stream this afternoon to keep you all informed in real time. Stay safe, and may God bless you and yours.
