Cable TV Channel to Celebrate Easter at Museum of the Bible

NASHVILLE‚ Tenn.—A top 100 cable TV channel is celebrating Easter with an event at the Museum of the Bible‚ a Good Friday film‚ and an uplifting made-for-TV movie on Easter Sunday. “We want to tell real-life stories that ultimately are positive in nature and really focus on the best of faith‚ family‚ and country‚” Bill Abbott‚ president and CEO of Great American Media‚ told “The Daily Signal Podcast” in an interview at the National Religious Broadcasters convention in February. Great American Media owns the cable networks Great American Family and Great American Faith &; Living‚ along with the streaming service Great American Pure Flix. (It co-owns Great American Pure Flix‚ sometimes stylized as “Pureflix‚” with Sony Pictures.) Great American Family ranked 77th out of 178 cable TV channels for viewers‚ according to Nielsen in 2023. The channel had 139‚000 viewers. Abbott contrasted the negative themes in Hollywood and mainstream TV with Great American Family’s more wholesome offerings. “Easter is obviously a big season for us‚” Abbott noted. He mentioned “The History of Easter‚” an “important partnership that we have with the Museum of the Bible.” He also cited “The Passion Play‚” a stage and musical production about the life‚ death‚ burial‚ and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He calls that production “brilliantly and beautifully created.” Great American Family has put on the production for more than 30 years. Great American Family is also releasing the Easter-themed movie “Just in Time‚” which stars Laura Osnes‚ who earned Tony Award nominations for her Broadway performances as Bonnie Parker in “Bonnie &; Clyde” and for the title role in the Rodgers &; Hammerstein musical “Cinderella.” It also stars Peter Bryant‚ who played a minor role in “Jumanji” (1995)‚ and Greyston Holt‚ known for his role in the TV show “The Night Agent.” (Watch the trailer for “Just in Time” here.) “Life is hard enough‚” Abbott said. “So‚ we want to provide that positivity when so much of what we see is negative and dark.” Listen to the interview below. Only Democrats Get to Lie on NBC News

Only Democrats Get to Lie on NBC News

Ronna McDaniel‚ formerly chair of the Republican National Committee‚ was recently hired and subsequently fired by NBC News when the “talent‚” unable to countenance even moderate dissent‚ revolted on air. The entire kerfuffle is unsurprising considering the state of modern “media.” But one of the funniest moments of the McDaniel blowup came when host and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki‚ another political operative hired by NBC‚ argued that‚ actually‚ the distinction between her and McDaniel was “truth versus lies.” What in the holy hell is she talking about? Only last week‚ Psaki was lying about Donald Trump’s “bloodbath” comment—which every sentient being understands was a metaphor for economic collapse‚ not‚ as the MSNBC host explained‚ an “embrace of political violence” or “dehumanizing language.” And let’s set aside the “election denialism” of the 2016 contest‚ which she claimed was “rigged” by Russia. Psaki is proficient in lies big and small‚ whether she’s spreading run-of-the-mill lies about how Democrats don’t support abortion until birth (almost all do) or whether she’s telling the press that President Joe Biden’s dog Major had not bitten Secret Service officers (he’s bitten them 24 times‚ at least)‚ or she’s spreading hoaxes about Border Patrol agents “whipping” Haitian migrants‚ Psaki is a wellspring of misinformation. Even considering the normal mendacious parameters of a White House press secretary‚ she excelled. When Democrats were campaigning to cram through that massive welfare expansion agenda—first named “Build Back Better” and later “Inflation Reduction Act” [sic]—she told the media that “no economist” in the country was predicting higher inflation because of massive government spending. Biden‚ at least‚ had the decency to contend that a “serious economist” was warning of disaster. Of course‚ numerous respected economists‚ including well-known Democrats‚ had warned that injecting trillions into a hot economy would exacerbate inflation‚ as Psaki well knew. She made her claim in November 2021. A month earlier‚ inflation had risen at its fastest rate since 1990. During the Biden administration’s deadly botching of Afghan withdrawal‚ which saw 13 American servicemen murdered at the Abbey Gate outside Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport‚ Psaki lied. When the administration‚ tied to a political timeline‚ ignored warnings from intelligence officials that terrorists were taking advantage of unsecured paths that the U.S. was encouraging civilians to use to get to the airport‚ Psaki bragged that all “American citizens‚” “Afghan partners‚” and “allies” were being rescued. When someone asked her how many Americans had been left behind in the country‚ she indignantly told them it was “irresponsible to say Americans are stranded.” But they were. John Kirby‚ Pentagon spokesperson‚ flippantly told the press only days later‚ “We have Americans that get stranded in countries all the time.” Everyone knew. Later‚ the Senate Foreign Relations Committee found that as many as 9‚000 Americans were left in Afghanistan during the Biden administration’s disastrous withdrawal. A nongovernmental organization report found that the U.S. “left behind” 78‚000 Afghan allies in the chaotic withdrawal. Then again‚ even before Psaki was a White House press secretary‚ she had been deputized to enact Iran-booster Ben Rhodes’ “echo chamber‚” in which the Obama administration manipulated young‚ pliable‚ credulous journalists into spreading misinformation about a nuclear deal to empower the Islamic terror state‚ one of the administration’s highest priorities at the time. When the State Department deliberately cut embarrassing answers within press briefing videos to avoid scrutiny over their concerted effort to mislead the media‚ Psaki lied to the American people about that as well. That is only a small sample of the former press secretary’s prodigious work. And‚ no doubt‚ McDaniel lied for political expediency as well. But let’s face it‚ she is a mere piker next to Psaki. The Way to Cuba’s Heart Is Through the Internet

The Way to Cuba’s Heart Is Through the Internet

Cuba’s repressive communist dictatorship relies on more than brute force to oppress its people. The Castros and their successors keep Cubans in line by controlling what information they can receive and transmit. That’s why‚ when demonstrations against shortages of food and other necessities began on March 17‚ the regime cut the state-provided internet to stop the protesters from coordinating online‚ and from sharing their videos worldwide.   This Draconian step suggests that the protests have rattled the regime. Cuba’s economic decline is becoming a death spiral. The hardships on the island may now be so acute that its inhabitants are willing to resort to drastic measures.   Given these circumstances‚ the internet cut-off might effectively hasten the nation’s decline‚ as it will not only isolate the protesters but all commerce in Cuba—to the regime’s own detriment.   Consider what happened during the 2019 Iranian demonstrations against the removal of government fuel subsidies. During “Bloody November‚” the regime in Tehran cut off the state-controlled National Internet Network for three days straight to shut it down. The tactic worked‚ but at significant cost to the Iranian economy. So‚ it is not a step to take lightly.  At that time‚ the United States didn’t have a ready means to restore internet service. Interest in satellite-based internet access emerged in the 1990s‚ and after some failed attempts‚ private entities such as SpaceX and Amazon began exploring options around 2014.   After the catastrophic 2017 hurricane season‚ these efforts gained steam—Google’s Project Loon provided internet access to 100‚000 people in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria wreaked havoc—but weren’t viable enough to assist the Iranian people two years later.  Now‚ however‚ the situation is completely different. SpaceX’s Starlink has famously been providing reliable satellite-based internet access to Ukraine in a war zone for more than two years. Given the contracts SpaceX has with the U.S. Department of Defense‚ DOD can direct the company to provide the service to partners in distress such as Ukraine. Surely‚ America would also want to help the people of Cuba marching for their freedom.   Which then begs the question: Why is this direction not coming from the Biden administration?  In Cuba‚ internet access is exclusively provided by the state-owned Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba S.A. in partnership with Venezuela. Accessing the internet by any other means is illegal‚ which means additional actions would need to be taken to provide VPNs and other means to reduce the risk for users to be monitored by the regime. The millions of cellular subscribers in Cuba can access American service providers‚ but would require a new subscriber identification module (SIM card) to connect. Starlink access at Punta Gorda Florida could support Cuban users‚ but terminals would be required on the ground in Cuba‚ which would be both expensive and complicated logistically.  Providing ubiquitous cellular access will be detectable by Cuba’s oppressive security services so long as they provide access which exposes users with foreign SIM cards to risk‚ but this would also impose a dilemma on the Cuban government‚ discouraging them from completely shutting down service. It won’t be easy‚ but providing this assistance could help the American people finally gain a friend rather than a dangerous foe 90 miles from our shores.  The recent scandal involving accused Cuban spy Manuel Rocha makes this all the more imperative. Rocha‚ who held sensitive national security positions under the Clinton and Obama administrations‚ is alleged to have been doing the bidding of Cuba’s communist regime inside the U.S. government for some 40 years. This reported espionage no doubt contributed to the generational blunder in the 1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union when‚ instead of ratcheting up economic pressure to hasten Cuban President Fidel Castro’s demise‚ America stood by as Venezuela President Hugo Chavez offered a lifeline of assistance‚ creating a new and dangerous axis of communist dictatorship in our own hemisphere. As Congress is now asserting‚ we may now have the technological means to make this generational blunder right by standing with the Cuban people and providing them with not just rhetorical support but also the means to avail themselves of free speech and communication if they choose to take their destiny into their own hands.  First published on Fox News. Black Dog Syndrome: Are Adoptions Affected? Important Facts to Know

Black Dog Syndrome: Are Adoptions Affected? Important Facts to Know

Ever wonder why shelter workers sigh and shake their heads at the arrival of a litter full of black puppies? It’s not the dog‚ we assure you. It’s the idea of the dog—it’s black dog syndrome. Black dog syndrome is when black dogs are ignored while potential owners snatch the lighter-colored dogs. This would mean black dogs stay in shelters and foster families longer than other dog colors. But is black dog syndrome a fact or theory? Let’s explore. When Did Black Dog Syndrome Begin? It’s hard to say when the theory of black dog syndrome began. The issue gained public attention in the early 2000s‚ but it’s been a problem for centuries 1. In folklore‚ black dogs and cats represent evil‚ demons‚ and guardians of hell. Black animals usher in bad omens‚ curses‚ evil spirits‚ and much more. Scripts and paintings depict these animals contorted because their origin is more unsettling. Over time‚ these myths began to fade‚ but the damage had been done—animals with black fur represent darkness. Even if you don’t believe it‚ the idea is ingrained in us from shows‚ movies‚ and books. It’s hard to find a Halloween store without a black cat‚ a witch without a crow‚ or a dark scary cave without a black dog. Image Credit: photosounds‚ Shutterstock Black Dog Syndrome and Adoptions We know now that an animal has no control over its fur color. Still‚ black dogs seem to attract fewer adopters‚ according to shelter workers. Some who have witnessed black dog syndrome believe it’s because black dogs are hard to photograph. Black animals don’t show as much detail because the shadows blend in with their fur. Have you ever browsed adoption websites or searched for a lost pet? If so‚ you know how difficult it is to see beyond a shadowy silhouette. It’s no wonder that most Instagram-famous animals are light-colored. Trends come in colors‚ too. Why does this matter? Because more than 27% of dog adopters say appearance is the most important deciding factor. Cultural differences and location can be a reason‚ too. It’s possible that black dog syndrome doesn’t exist in certain areas‚ or isn’t as obvious‚ compared to other shelters. Black Dog Syndrome: Fact or Theory? Truthfully‚ no hard evidence proves dark-colored animals stay in shelters longer than light-colored ones. An animal’s history with children‚ pets‚ health‚ age‚ and behavior all blend together to help owners make the best decision. Even the first introduction can make or break an adoption deal. But shelters and veterinary workers would disagree. Image Credit: Los Senderos del Mundo‚ Shutterstock Conclusion So‚ is black dog syndrome real? It’s hard to say. The best possible answer is that it’s real in some places and not real in others. Regardless‚ you can do something to help the problem. Adopting and fostering are great ways to keep animals out of shelters. If you can’t commit to more animals in the home‚ try volunteering at your local shelter. There are all kinds of roles‚ like spending time with dogs‚ taking them on walks‚ feeding them‚ and cleaning their rooms. It depends on the shelter’s needs and your level of commitment. No matter what‚ your time makes a difference. Why Is My Puppy So Aggressive? 4 Common Reasons

Click to Skip Ahead Possible Reasons Warning Signs of Puppy Aggression How to Remedy the Behavior Bringing home a new puppy is exciting! Puppies are adorable‚ and you can’t help but ooh and aah over them. However‚ everything is new to puppies‚ and sometimes‚ puppies can be a bit aggressive during play as they navigate the world around them. While it may look cute‚ it’s not a behavior you should condone or allow if you want a well-behaved dog down the road. So‚ why is your puppy so aggressive? Puppy aggression is not specified to certain breeds. A few reasons are to blame‚ and it’s wise to learn the four common reasons so you can differentiate between puppy play and aggression and learn how to remedy the situation. Let’s dig in. The 4 Reasons Why  Puppies Are Aggressive 1. Poor Socialization Some dogs will be poorly behaved without proper socialization. When a puppy lacks socialization skills and is exposed to different people and other animals‚ their instinct may be to react aggressively to the situation. The critical time period for socializing puppies is 3 to 12 weeks of age. Puppies will become cautious about the world around them if not socialized during this time. 2. Pain Image Credit: dezy‚ Shutterstock An animal in pain will be grumpy‚ and your puppy may act aggressively if they don’t feel well. If you feel your puppy is ill or injured‚ take them to the vet immediately so the problem can be addressed. An injury or illness may not be visible‚ and it’s vital to ensure your puppy is healthy. One way to know your puppy is ill or injured is if they whimper when you touch or hold them. In that case‚ a trip to the vet is most definitely warranted. 3. Overstimulation Remember that everything is new to your puppy‚ and if they get overstimulated‚ they could become aggressive as a way to let out excessive energy because that’s all they know in their young life. Meeting new people and furry friends can cause overstimulation‚ as well as a new environment. Signs of overstimulation are: Biting Large pupils Fast heart rate Hiding behind people or objects Running in circles Increased vocalization Not blinking Tail chasing Yawning Lip licking Excessive grooming Gnawing at the body 4. Stress Image Credit: Adam Hoglund‚ Shutterstock Puppies undergo many changes with new surroundings‚ which could be enough to cause stress‚ which can turn into aggression. Keeping your new puppy on a daily routine can help alleviate stress‚ and it’s also good for your puppy to learn about their everyday environment. It may be hard to identify stress in your puppy because everything is new‚ but here are a few signs that could indicate stress: Yawning Drooling Licking Change in body posture Dilated pupils Barking Whining Shaking Shedding Panting Hiding Changes in potty routine If you feel your puppy is stressed‚ try removing them from the stressor. For example‚ if you’re around other dogs or loud noises‚ take your puppy to a quieter location. Warning Signs of Puppy Aggression Non-stop biting: Play behavior in puppies generally involves mouthing and nipping each other on the scruff or back of the neck. It could also be a sign of teething. However‚ biting and nipping are considered aggressive if your puppy persists in rough play with another dog after that dog signals to stop. The biting may also be harsh and accompanied by growling. Possessive of food and toys: Resource guarding or possession aggression involves biting‚ lunging‚ and snarling over food‚ food bowls‚ and toys. Your puppy may show aggression when you or another pet in the home strolls past their prize possessions. Lunging: Many dog owners experience their dogs lunging while on a leash when they see people or other dogs‚ which is generally normal behavior‚ especially if your puppy is a particular breed‚ like a Retriever or Boston Terrier. However‚ lunging could indicate fear aggression‚ which is forcing something away your puppy perceives as a threat. Body language: Learning your puppy’s body language will go a long way in determining play or aggressive behavior. Normal behavior involves tail wagging‚ bowing (lowered head and raised rump)‚ running‚ and barking. Aggressive behavior involves pinned ears‚ growling‚ stiff‚ rigid posture‚ and staring intensively. How to Remedy the Behavior Studies show that harsh punishment makes puppy aggression worse. Instead of using punishment methods‚ these studies prove that using a reward-based system is far more effective‚ resulting in a more friendly and well-adjusted dog. In other words‚ using positive reinforcement training is the best method. This means rewarding your puppy with a treat when they do something right. Never yell at or hit your puppy‚ as this will only make your puppy afraid of you and fearful of the world. It will also fail to remedy the situation. With patience and time‚ your puppy will grow into a well-behaved dog using this form of training. Image Credit: Michael de lange‚ Shutterstock Conclusion Puppy aggression is nothing new in the puppy world‚ but it’s also behavior that should not be ignored. It’s vital to teach your puppy right and wrong‚ much like a child. Ignoring puppy aggression can become a dangerous situation in the future‚ making it essential to remedy the aggression. Remember that everything is new to your puppy as they learn and grow‚ and it’s up to you as a dog parent to raise a well-behaved pooch. How Much Does a Egyptian Mau Cost? 2024 Price Overview

Click to Skip Ahead One-Time Costs Care Supplies Monthly Costs Additional Costs Budget Tips Egyptian Maus are beautiful cats with beautiful personalities. They’re known for their athletic talents‚ playful approach to life‚ and strong loyalty to their families. They make excellent companion pets for people who enjoy engaging with active cats and are able to provide plenty of physical and mental exercise opportunities for them. Egyptian Maus are considered to be a rare cat breed in the US‚ so it can be challenging to find information on how much it costs to care for them. Usually bringing a cat home would cost $100 – $2‚500 adding a monthly expense of $160–$590 per month approx. This guide is here to help you get a better picture of what it’s like to live with an Egyptian Mau and has updated estimates on the initial and monthly costs that go into living with one. Bringing Home a New Egyptian Mau: One-Time Costs You can expect the one-time costs of bringing home an Egyptian Mau to be a couple of thousands of dollars. This is mainly because Egyptian Mau kittens are fairly expensive. Our estimates also include cat equipment‚ supplies‚ and initial veterinary care fees. Image Credit: Anastasiia Chystokoliana‚ Shutterstock Free Egyptian Maus are rare and highly coveted‚ so it’s very unlikely that you’ll find one for free unless someone you know gives one to you. In the very unlikely case that you find a stray Egyptian Mau‚ it’s most likely that the cat is someone’s pet and just lost their way. So‚ it’s important to check to see if the cat is microchipped and ensure they’re reunited with their owners. Adoption $100–$200 It’s not likely you’ll find a purebred Egyptian Mau at an adoption center‚ but you may find some that have been taken in by Egyptian Mau rescue organizations. Adoption fees usually vary depending on the age of the cat. A kitten’s adoption fee can be up to a couple of hundred dollars‚ while an older cat’s fee is usually much lower. Breeder $1‚200–$2‚500 The most common way to get an Egyptian Mau is to find a breeder. Since Egyptian Maus are quite rare‚ purebred Egyptian Mau kittens are often priced on the higher end. You can find pet-quality and show-quality Egyptian Maus‚ and show-quality Egyptian Maus are typically more expensive because of their prestigious pedigree. However‚ both types of Egyptian Maus are healthy and make excellent pets. So‚ it’s possible to save on costs by purchasing a pet-quality Egyptian Mau. Image credit: Sarah Fields Photography‚ Shutterstock Initial Setup and Supplies $500–$1‚400 The initial costs for Egyptian Maus will vary depending on the types of products and services you choose. Egyptian Mau kittens will have higher initial costs mostly because of veterinary care fees. You’ll have to consider their vaccine schedules‚ neutering or spaying‚ and microchipping. Older Egyptian Maus will most likely have already gone through these procedures. List of Egyptian Care Supplies and Costs ID Tag and Collar: $10–$15 Spay/Neuter: $200–$500 Vet Checkup: $40–$100 Vaccinations: $150–$300 Microchip: $45–$55 Cat Tree: $50–$300 Bed: $10–$20 Nail Clipper (optional): $10 Litter Box: $10–$50 Litter Scoop: $5–$10 Cat Litter: $15–$50 Toys: $20 Carrier: $30–$40 Food and Water Bowls: $10–$20 How Much Does an Egyptian Mau Cost Per Month? $160–$590 per month There are several essential monthly costs to consider when caring for an Egyptian Mau. Most of these costs will go into food‚ litter box supplies‚ and veterinary care. You’ll notice that your monthly costs will be much higher when you first bring home your cat due to veterinary care costs. Once your cat’s gotten all their vaccines and gotten a health clearance from your veterinarian‚ you’ll find monthly care costs go down and become more consistent over time. Image Credit: KoBenz‚ Shutterstock Health Care $70–$200 per month Egyptian Maus are relatively healthy cats‚ so you can expect your monthly healthcare costs to go down after your kitten finishes their vaccine schedule. Egyptian Maus also have coats that are fairly easy to maintain‚ so it’s unlikely to have high monthly grooming costs for them. Most of your health care costs will go into their food. Food $20–$100 per month There are all kinds of cat food that you can feed your Egyptian Mau. Dry food is typically the most budget-friendly form of food‚ and it’s easy to store and a better option for cats that like to graze. Wet cat food is a great way to add water to your cat’s diet and help keep them hydrated. If you really want to pamper your cat‚ you can choose from a variety of premium cat food‚ such as organic cat food‚ raw diets‚ and small-batch cat food. Grooming $0–$30 per month Egyptian Maus are relatively low maintenance when it comes to grooming. They’ll benefit from getting brushed weekly to remove loose and dead hairs from their coat. If your Egyptian Mau is particularly finicky about getting their nails clipped‚ you can enlist the help of a professional groomer or a vet technician for a small fee. Image Credit: Jolanta Beinarovica‚ Shutterstock Medications and Vet Visits $10–$100 per month After your Egyptian Mau kitten finishes their vaccine schedule‚ you should see veterinary care costs go down significantly. Depending on your cat’s lifestyle‚ your veterinarian may recommend and prescribe dewormer medication. In general‚ it’s recommended for outdoor cats to take dewormer medication once a month and for indoor cats to take dewormer medication every 3 months. Since Egyptian Maus are quite curious and athletic‚ they can get themselves into some accidents. So‚ it’s helpful to set aside an emergency veterinary care budget for unforeseen accidents. Pet Insurance $15–$50 per month While pet insurance isn’t required‚ it can definitely help pay for expensive veterinary care procedures. Most pet insurance plans help pay for veterinary care services related to accidents and illnesses. Though uncommon‚ some pet insurance companies offer wellness plans that help pay for routine care‚ including vaccines and annual checkups. Environment Maintenance $30–$80 per month Most of your monthly costs in this category will come from maintaining a clean and sanitary litter box setup. Scratching is also a normal cat behavior‚ and some cats prefer scratching on cardboard. Cardboard cat scratchers don’t tend to last as long as sisal scratchers‚ so you’ll probably find yourself replacing them about once a month. Cat Litter: $15–$50 Litter box liners: $10–$20 Deodorizing spray or granules: $10–$15 Cardboard Scratcher: $10–$30 Image Credit: naturepicture_rika‚ Shutterstock Entertainment $15–$30 per month Play will be extremely important for Egyptian Maus. These cats are active and intelligent‚ which makes physical and mental stimulation essential to their care. Egyptian Maus usually love vertical spaces and will benefit greatly from having a tall cat tower. They’ll also love playing with all kinds of toys. A cat subscription box service can help you save on cat entertainment costs and introduce your cat to a wider selection of toys. These subscription services also often include tasty‚ high-quality cat treats. Cat subscription boxes usually cost somewhere between $20–$25 and come with 2–3 cat toys and at least one bag of treats. Total Monthly Cost of Owning an Egyptian Mau $160–$590 per month Your monthly costs will vary significantly depending on your Egyptian Mau’s health and the types of products and services you choose. It’s possible to live with an Egyptian Mau on a budget by making smart and informed purchases and choosing budget-friendly options that don’t sacrifice on quality. Of course‚ we’re all for pampering our pets. So‚ if your budget allows you to spend more on luxury items‚ there are plenty of fun and cool cat supplies and toys that your Egyptian Mau will appreciate having. Image Credit: Sarah Fields Photography‚ Shutterstock Additional Costs to Factor In The most significant additional cost to consider would be cat sitting or boarding services that you can use when you plan to be away from home for a few days. Costs will depend on the level of care and attention your cat needs and for how long you’ll be away. It’s also a smart move to set aside an emergency veterinary care fund‚ especially if you don’t enroll your Egyptian Mau in a pet insurance plan. Veterinary care fees can reach thousands of dollars rather quickly‚ and there are some cases where your Egyptian Mau may require taking regular doses of medication or switching to a veterinary diet. Owning an Egyptian Mau on a Budget There’s no denying that caring for a cat will take up a significant portion of your budget. However‚ you can cut monthly costs by making wise purchases. While we all want the best for our pets‚ sometimes it’s not realistic to purchase the most expensive cat tree or high-tech litter boxes. In some cases‚ generic brands perform just as well as premium brands‚ so it’s important to do your research on certain cat supplies and compare your options. Ensuring your Egyptian Mau is living in a healthy environment will also help reduce costs in the long run. A happy and healthy Egyptian Mau is less likely to develop behavioral issues‚ and they’re at lower risk of experiencing health issues. Image Credit: Steve Photography‚ Shutterstock Saving Money on Egyptian Mau Care You can find the most wiggle room with food and cat litter. There are plenty of high-quality cat food options that are much more affordable than fresh‚ made-to-order cat food. Cat litter prices also vary greatly depending on the material. However‚ don’t simply choose cat litter based on its price. Some types of cat litter may look like they cost more‚ but they can last longer than cat litter made with cheaper‚ less absorbent materials. If you find yourself consistently using the same products‚ you can try to enroll in a subscription service or auto-ship plans for those products. These types of plans and services offer discounted prices‚ and they often provide more cost-saving promotions and specials throughout the year. Conclusion Overall‚ you can expect to spend about $1‚700–$3‚000 on initial costs for Egyptian Maus. Monthly costs can range between $160–$590‚ and most of your monthly costs will go into food‚ toys‚ and litter box supplies. Since a wide range of cat care supplies are set at varying price points‚ it’s possible to adequately care for an Egyptian Mau on a budget. Making smart and well-informed purchases will ensure that you can care for an Egyptian Mau without overspending or compromising heavily on quality. How Much Does a Bombay Cat Cost? 2024 Price Overview

Click to Skip Ahead One-Time Costs Care Supplies Monthly Costs Additional Costs Budget Tips Getting a new cat is an exciting experience that many potential cat owners look forward to. Bombay cats add to that excitement with their panther-like disposition and playful temperaments which makes them fascinating pets. This is a medium-sized cat with glossy black fur and striking copper eyes. When you are in the process of getting a new cat‚ an important consideration is the costs associated with the breed. Aside from needing to be able to care for them properly‚ you also need to determine whether you can afford the cat itself and their ongoing care. Cats can be expensive to own‚ and the Bombay cat is no exception. You can expect to spend from $15-$2‚000 for bringing this breed to your house‚ additionally‚ you have to consider spending $150–$800 per month on maintenance. This article will guide you through the most important costs of the Bombay cat and their care. Bringing Home a New Bombay Cat: One-Time Costs Bombay cats are considered rarer than many other domesticated cats and they are not widely available‚ making them pricey. The Bombay cat is recognized by numerous registries such as the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and is considered to be a pedigree breed. Image Credit: Viktor Sergeevich‚ Shutterstock Free The only way you will be able to get a Bombay cat for free is if they are rehomed by someone. This could be from family or friends‚ or perhaps someone online. However‚ you might need to pay for a small rehoming fee or cover the cost of the supplies the cat comes with. Adoption $15–$300 Before purchasing a Bombay cat‚ it is a good idea to check for one up for adoption. However‚ Bombay cats are uncommon in shelters because they are rarer than most cat breeds. It is more common for Bombay cats to be returned to the breeder that they were purchased from rather than be given up for adoption. If you are lucky enough to come across a Bombay cat up for adoption‚ you only need to pay the relatively inexpensive adoption fee. Breeder $400–$2‚000 Your best bet at finding a healthy and well-bred Bombay cat is through a reputable breeder. The breeder should be knowledgeable‚ trustworthy‚ registered‚ and able to provide you with detailed information on the cat’s genetic history and testing. It is important to support Bombay cat breeders who care about the quality of the cat rather than quantity. You can expect to spend up to $2‚000 for a Bombay cat from a breeder. This is slightly cheaper than some other rare pedigree breeds. Initial Setup and Supplies $200–$850 The initial cost of your Bombay cats’ supplies is going to be higher than their ongoing costs. Their initial supplies include things like their food and water bowls‚ carrier‚ litter box‚ and sterilization costs. The main ongoing costs for a Bombay cat’s supplies are toys‚ food‚ and litter. Some supplies are optional‚ such as a nail clipper or brush which are unnecessary if you take your Bombay cat to be professionally groomed. You can purchase supplies for your Bombay cat from various pet stores and online retailers like Amazon or Chewy. You might even find second-hand supplies from online buy-and-sell websites for a fraction of the price it would cost new. List of Bombay Cat Care Supplies and Costs ID Tag and Collar $10–$15 Spay/Neuter $50–$300 X-Ray Cost $75–$300 Ultrasound Cost $250–$500 Microchip $45 Teeth Cleaning $100–$750 Cat bed $30 Nail Clipper (optional) $7 Brush (optional) $8–$12 Litter Box $6–$30 Litter Scoop $1–$5 Toys $20–$40 Carrier $10–$40 Food and Water Bowls $10 How Much Does a Bombay Cat Cost Per Month? $150–$800 per month The main monthly expense for a Bombay cat will be their food and health care. The cost can vary month-to-month depending on what your Bombay cat needs during a particular month. Bombay cats won’t always need to be taken to a veterinarian each month‚ which can significantly reduce the costs. If you purchase their food in bulk at discounted prices‚ you might not need to spend money on new food for a month or two. Image Credit: Viktor Sergeevich‚ Shutterstock Health Care $50–$100 per month Part of being a responsible Bombay cat owner ensuring that they have access to essential health care. The monthly cost can vary depending on what specific health care your cat needs to be done. This includes vet visits‚ medication‚ teeth cleaning‚ parasite prevention‚ and treatments. Unless your cat is always outdoors or has a chronic illness‚ you won’t always spend money on their health care each month. Certain times of the year could cause their monthly health care bill to increase‚ especially during flea or tick season. However‚ year-round flea and tick prevention is important for most cats. Senior Bombay cats may need more health care than young and healthy ones. Food $10–$38 per month There are no specific dietary requirements for Bombay cats‚ and they will eat a similar diet to other domesticated cats. The price of your Bombay cat food will depend on the type and quality of the food. Dry food is usually cheaper than wet or raw food diets‚ but the price still depends on the quality. It is best to purchase quality food for your cat with beneficial and wholesome ingredients‚ as this could help you save on future vet bills related to a poor diet. Some Bombay cats may require a specialized diet according to their lifestyle and health as recommended by their veterinarian. Specialized cat food diets typically cost more than standard diets‚ since they are prescribed to cats who have certain health problems. Grooming $15–$70 per month Bombay cats have a smooth and low-maintenance coat that makes grooming a breeze. Their coat is short and does not tangle or mat‚ even if they haven’t been brushed for a while. Most Bombay cats don’t need to be taken for professional grooming often‚ and you can easily groom them at home. You will need to invest in a brush and nail clipper to groom them yourself. Bombay cats do not need to be bathed unless they have gotten something on their fur that doesn’t come off when they lick themselves. If you are unsure about grooming your Bombay cat at home‚ you can get their nails trimmed‚ ears cleaned‚ and fur brushed by a professional groomer every 2–3 months. Image Credit: Pani Kavetska‚ Shutterstock Medications and Vet Visits $50–$400 per month Certain medical treatments‚ procedures‚ and medications can be expensive for Bombay cats. Most standard veterinary visits cost around $50‚ excluding medications and procedures like X-rays‚ inoculations‚ or lab tests. Most young and healthy Bombay cats will not need to be taken to a veterinarian every month‚ aside from months when a basic health checkup is necessary. If your Bombay cat is on medication for certain health problems‚ you might need to spend money every month purchasing it. Pet Insurance $18–$80 per month Pet insurance for your Bombay cat is optional‚ although it is recommended to help with unexpected vet bills. There are many pet insurance companies to choose from‚ each offering different coverage plans at various prices. Pet insurance is usually paid every month‚ and the price is influenced by the type of coverage plan‚ the age‚ and the health of your Bombay cat. Some plans only cover accidents‚ while others cover illness. Environment Maintenance $45–$60 per month Maintaining your Bombay cat’s environment is important‚ and usually involves cleaning their litterbox‚ and replacing the litter or any damaged toys. You will also need to spend money on cleaning supplies like disinfectants and wipes to clean their litterbox. A Bombay cat’s environment maintenance is relatively low and isn’t always going to be a monthly expense. If you purchase Bombay cats’ litter or liners in bulk‚ you can save money on replacing the litter each month. Cat litter/liners $20/month Litterbox cleaning supplies $10/month Toys $15/month Image Credit: Lux Blue‚ Shutterstock Entertainment $15–$45 per month Bombay cats are known for being active and explorative cats. They enjoy having various toys and activities that can keep them entertained and prevent boredom. This includes catnip toys‚ puzzles‚ teaser toys‚ scratching posts‚ and cat trees to climb. You do not need to spend too much on your Bombay cats’ toys‚ and if you choose durable ones‚ you probably won’t need to buy more each month. There is also the option of subscribing to a monthly subscription box for cat toys. These subscription boxes generally cost between $12 to $25 per month and mail fun and exciting new toys for your cat each month. Total Monthly Cost of Owning a Bombay Cat $150–$800 per month Many factors can influence the total monthly costs of owning a Bombay cat. Their monthly costs are similar to many other cat breeds‚ and you aren’t guaranteed to spend a lot on your Bombay cat each month. Some months are more affordable than others‚ especially if your Bombay cat is relatively healthy. One of the most expensive monthly costs associated with Bombay cats is health and veterinary care. Veterinary care can be expensive for cats and can affect how much you spend on your Bombay cat monthly. While some veterinary treatments are affordable‚ other treatments can cost up to $800 a month. The more affordable monthly costs for Bombay cats will be their food‚ litter‚ and grooming. Additional Costs to Factor In Aside from the costs we have already discussed in this article like food‚ grooming‚ and veterinary visits‚ below are additional costs to consider. Pet sitters: If you go away on vacation or need to leave your Bombay cat alone for a few days‚ you will need to find a pet sitter for them. Most pet sitters charge around $12 to $40 per hour. However‚ some pet sitters may look after your cat for a discounted price if you are leaving them in their care for more than one day. Emergency care: Accidents happen‚ and sometimes cats require emergency veterinary care that can be expensive. Some live-saving procedures that your Bombay cat may need can cost up to $5‚000. Not everyone has an immediate few thousand dollars to spend on emergency veterinary care for their cats. This makes it essential to set money aside each month for such emergencies. Chronic medications: Your Bombay cat may develop a health condition that requires chronic medication for their entire life. The medication would need to be prescribed by a veterinarian and bought monthly. Household damage: Bombay cats aren’t always on their best behavior and might cause damage to your home. Whether the damage is from a scratched-up couch or overturned expensive dinnerware‚ keep in mind that you will need to pay to get those things fixed or replaced. Image Credit: Ton van de Blaak‚ Pixabay Owning a Bombay Cat on a Budget While it is possible to own a Bombay cat on a budget‚ you still need to keep in mind that owning any cat breed can be expensive. However‚ there are several ways you can cut down the associated costs of Bombay cat ownership. Choose quality supplies and products. Quality cat supplies are usually going to last longer than poor-quality ones made from cheap materials. By purchasing long-lasting supplies that are highly rated for their durability‚ you can save money each month from replacing them when they get worn or broken. This means choosing quality food and water bowls over flimsy plastic ones or investing in a sturdy litterbox that is easy to clean. Keep an eye out for discounts or bulk purchases. Regularly check your nearest pet stores and online websites for discounts on cat supplies. Some stores have monthly sales‚ which can save you significant money each month. You can also look into purchasing your Bombay cat’s food and litter in bulk. Check for discounts that offer a reduced price if more than one of the same product is purchased at the same time. Regular veterinary visits. Your Bombay cat still needs to be taken for regular veterinary visits even if you are on a tight budget. It is recommended to ensure that your Bombay cats get checked out by a veterinarian a few times a year. This allows any developing health problems to be caught early and prevents you from having to spend thousands of dollars to treat them later. Image Credit: Anna Krivitskaya‚ Shutterstock Saving Money on Bombay Cat Care Set money aside each month. Create a savings account for your Bombay cat where you deposit money into it each week or month. For example‚ try to deposit $10 every week into the savings account or $40 per month. This money eventually adds up and can help cover unexpected vet bills and even food for the month if you are short on immediate cash. Groom them at home. Bombay cats save you a lot of money with their low grooming requirements. Instead of having to pay a professional to groom your Bombay cat‚ try doing it yourself. You can purchase a quality brush and nail clipper and ask their veterinarian how you can use them to safely groom your Bombay cat at home. Conclusion When you first get a Bombay cat‚ you will notice that the initial costs are quite high. A Bombay cat itself usually costs between $400 to $2‚000 from a breeder. You can expect to spend up to $850 on their initial supplies like a litterbox‚ bed‚ microchip‚ sterilization‚ food bowls‚ and carriers. Fortunately‚ the ongoing costs for Bombay cats are much less. The monthly cost of your Bombay cat includes their food‚ litter‚ and pet insurance which can cost as low as $150. If vet bills are included in the monthly cost‚ you might end up spending around $800 for the month. Fortunately‚ there are ways to save on your Bombay cat care and own them on a budget with careful planning. How Much Does a Whippet Dog Cost? Updated in 2024

Click to Skip Ahead One-Time Costs Initial Setup and Supplies Monthly Costs Additional Costs Budget Tips Whippets are often confused with Greyhounds due to their similar size and need for speed‚ but this breed is all its own. Sometimes called “the poor man’s racehorse”‚ these medium-sized pups are known for being fast‚ agile‚ athletic‚ and incredibly friendly. If you’re considering bringing one of these canines into your home‚ it’s important to get an idea of how much that will cost you‚ both immediately and in the long run. There are a lot of costs associated with dog ownership‚ some of which you might not have thought about! Whippets live anywhere from 12 to 15 years‚ so you’re looking at long-term financial responsibility. That’s why we’re taking a closer look at how much it will cost to bring a Whippet home and how much it should run you in monthly costs. You’ll find a lot of variation in costs‚ but initially‚ you can expect to pay $296–$1‚300 and then $180 to $530 a month for one of these dogs. Bringing Home a New Whippet: One-Time Costs The one-time‚ upfront costs of bringing home a Whippet can vary greatly. It really depends on whether you adopt a dog or decide to shell out for one from a breeder. Then‚ there are the initial setup costs (food‚ crate‚ dog bed‚ etc.)‚ which can also vary depending on whether you go with items that are more or less expensive. Free Chances of finding a Whippet for absolutely free are slim‚ but you may come across someone who needs to rehome their Whippet because they can longer care for them. You might also find a Whippet for free via a rescue organization‚ but even then‚ you’ll probably need to pay a small cost. Adoption $50–$500 Adopting one of these dogs from a shelter or rescue organization is an excellent option. Not only will this save you money on the upfront costs of purchasing a Whippet‚ but you’ll also be saving a life. The cost of adopting a Whippet from a shelter or rescue often includes items like up-to-date vaccinations‚ deworming‚ microchipping‚ and sometimes even spay/neuter‚ which saves you even more. Image Credit: Natallia Miranchuk‚ Shutterstock Breeder $800–$1‚500 Purchasing a Whippet from a reputable breeder will cost the most‚ but it also guarantees you a purebred dog if that’s what you’re in the market for. The cost of buying your dog from a breeder will often include the first round of vaccinations‚ as well. But ensure you are using a breeder who’s reputable; otherwise‚ you could end up with a dog with health problems‚ costing you a lot more money in the long run. Initial Setup and Supplies $296–$1‚300 Of course‚ when you first get a dog‚ you’ll also have to obtain a variety of supplies so your new pet has the proper setup. These items include crates‚ dog beds‚ food‚ toys‚ treats‚ vet visits‚ and more. The cost of initial setup for your pup will vary‚ depending on whether you go for items that are priced lower or higher. List of Whippet Care Supplies and Costs ID Tag and Collar $15–$25 Spay/Neuter $100–$400 Microchip $25–$50 Leash/Harness $5–$125 Dog bed $10–$340 Crate $37–$500 Food &; Treats $10–$100 Food &; Water Bowls $6–$25 Nail Clippers (optional) $6–$20 Brush (optional) $4–$30 Shampoo/Conditioner $8–$25 Toys $30–$60 Carrier $40–$100 How Much Does a Whippet Cost Per Month? $180–$530 per month There will be monthly costs associated with your Whippet‚ which we’ll cover below. Some of these items may not end up being ones you need to pay for each month‚ so there’s a bit of variation in how much monthly costs will run you. Some of the included monthly costs are food‚ entertainment‚ and grooming. Image Credit: Inese Agnese‚ Shutterstock Health Care $20–$100 per month How much you spend each month on health care for your Whippet will depend significantly on where you live. Those living outside cities will likely pay much less for vet visits and vaccinations‚ so costs vary greatly. And after the first few months‚ once your dog’s initial vaccinations and spay/neuter are covered‚ you shouldn’t have to spend much on health care on a monthly basis. At most‚ you’ll likely only be spending money on tick and flea prevention. This average cost doesn’t cover accidents or illnesses‚ of course. So‚ keep in mind that at some point‚ your pet will probably get sick or injured‚ and you’ll have to take them to the vet to have them fixed up. Food $30–$50 per month Whippets may only be medium-sized‚ but these pups are big on energy‚ so they need a protein-rich diet to keep up. High-quality dog food can range in price‚ depending on not only the brand but whether you serve your dog dry‚ wet‚ or subscription dog food. Subscription foods are priciest‚ but they’re typically much better quality and made with ingredients that are healthier for your dog. Grooming $10–$40 per month Whippets are very low-maintenance when it comes to grooming due to their short‚ smooth coats. Mostly‚ you’ll simply be brushing your dog once a week or so‚ then cleaning their ears‚ trimming nails‚ and giving them a bath as necessary. If you purchased the supplies to do that during the initial setup‚ you won’t be spending much monthly on grooming. But if you aren’t comfortable trimming your dog’s nails yourself or would rather have someone else bathe them‚ you’ll need to seek the services of a groomer. This is another area where pricing can vary wildly depending on where you live. Medications and Vet Visits $20–$100 per month As we mentioned‚ unless your dog is ill or gets injured‚ you probably won’t be taking them to the vet every month. However‚ if your dog has a chronic illness that requires monthly medication or vet visits‚ you will be spending some. How much depends‚ again‚ on where you’re located and what’s going on with your pet. But in most cases‚ you won’t have monthly vet visits or medications to pay for. Image Credit: Sergio Souza‚ Pexels Pet Insurance $50–$100 per month Pet insurance isn’t a necessity‚ but it can help a lot with health care costs in the long term. And‚ as with health care‚ how much pet insurance costs will depend on the area you live in since some states offer pet insurance for less than others. Different pet insurance companies will also get you different pricing‚ so be sure to shop around for the best deal if you decide to invest in pet insurance! Environment Maintenance $30–$40 per month Maintaining your pet’s environment shouldn’t take much‚ but you will need to occasionally replace items. Bedding‚ such as dog beds or blankets‚ can sometimes be ruined by accidents or be chewed up if your dog is feeling a bit destructive‚ which would require replacement. And dog toys will eventually wear down or get torn up‚ so you’ll need to purchase more. You’ll also want to be sure to replenish cleaning supplies‚ as needed‚ for getting rid of urine stains or safely cleaning out your dog’s crate. Bedding $10/month Cleaning supplies $10/month Toys $10–$20/month Entertainment $20–$100 per month Whippets need lots of physical and mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy‚ so they need to be entertained. While this might‚ at times‚ be as simple as letting your dog into the backyard to run around‚ other times you’ll need toys or games. You might want to invest in something like BarkBox‚ a monthly subscription box with toys and treats for your pet. You might also want to enroll your pet in training or agility classes; your Whippet will have a blast and learn a lot! Total Monthly Cost of Owning a Whippet $180–$530 per month Since some of the above costs likely won’t be a factor each month‚ your total monthly cost for owning a Whippet should be on the lower side of this estimate. And some items listed above‚ like pet insurance‚ are optional‚ so you may choose to save money by not purchasing them. But owning a Whippet will probably cost almost a couple hundred dollars each month. Image Credit: Fotomaha‚ Shutterstock Additional Costs to Factor In There are more costs to factor into your decision than just the above‚ though. One such cost is what you will do with your pet if you’re traveling; if you’re bringing them with you‚ you may have to pay more for room and board‚ but if you’re leaving them behind‚ you’ll need to consider the cost of boarding or a dog sitter. Another cost you may need to factor in if you work often is the cost of a dog walker to come by and ensure your pup is getting enough exercise. Boarding‚ dog sitters‚ and dog walkers typically cost $25–$50/day. There’s also emergency vet care‚ which we’ve mentioned above. Depending on what your Whippet needs‚ this could cost a bundle‚ anywhere from $200 to upwards of $1‚000. Having pet insurance will help offset emergency costs‚ but it also adds a monthly cost to owning a Whippet. You may run into the cost of classes‚ too‚ if you use a dog trainer or sign your pup up for agility classes. These can range from $50 to $200 a month‚ depending on where you live and the company you use. Owning a Whippet on a Budget If you’re on a budget‚ you may still be able to afford a Whippet. One of the easiest ways to save money is by adopting a dog from a rescue or shelter; this is not only cheaper but may also save you the cost of initial vaccinations and even a spay/neuter. Though pet insurance is a monthly cost‚ it can save you tons if your dog has a situation that requires emergency vet care. Pet insurance can even save you money on routine vet visits if you choose the right plan. You can also save on food costs by purchasing in bulk. However‚ if you do this‚ ensure you have an air-tight container to put dog food in so it doesn’t go bad before your pup eats it! Image Credit: Dora Zett‚ Shutterstock Saving Money on Whippet Care Pet insurance is a fantastic way to save on the care of your Whippet‚ as we’ve already discussed. Ensuring your dog makes it to routine vet visits will also save you in the long run‚ as these routine visits can often catch illnesses or conditions earlier rather than later. Engaging your pet in enough daily exercise will also go a long way in keeping them healthier for longer! You can also save money on your Whippet’s care by grooming them at home. Learning how to clip your dog’s nails may take a few tries‚ but it’s much less expensive than taking them to the groomer or vet every time you need it done. Conclusion If you’re considering purchasing a Whippet‚ you’re likely looking at $$296–$1‚300 in upfront costs‚ depending on whether you adopt or not. After that‚ you’re looking at monthly expenses of $180–$530 for this dog (though that will likely be on the lower end). When purchasing a Whippet‚ you’ll also need to factor in items like dog walking‚ boarding‚ and emergency vet care. There are some ways you can save on costs‚ though‚ if you have your heart set on one of these pups. Whether it be getting pet insurance for your dog to save on health care or buying food in bulk to even out costs‚ it is doable. Considering you’re getting a new friend who will be around for a while and offer plenty of fun‚ it should be worth it‚ though!
