Was it legal to fly the flag upside down at Samuel Alito’s house?

Media reports that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s house displayed an upside-down American flag, a traditional sign of political dissent, after the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, set off a firestorm of criticism over whether the move was a political statement that compromises his impartiality.

At a Trump Rally in the Bronx, Chants of ‘Build the Wall’

Miles from the rather somber Manhattan courtroom where he has spent much of the past five weeks as a criminal defendant, former President Donald J. Trump on Thursday stood at a park in the Bronx, surveyed the crowd and acknowledged he had been concerned over how he might be greeted at his first rally in New York State in eight years, and his first ever in the borough. In front of him was a more diverse crowd than is typical of his rallies, with many Black and Hispanic voters sporting bright...

Hamas' Gaza health ministry under microscope as questions continue over number of deaths

After nearly eight months of war, Gaza’s health system is in tatters, with the World Health Organization (WHO) reporting on May 3 that nearly 70% of its hospitals are no longer functioning, while the United Nations and the International Rescue Committee saying even only 15 hospitals, out of some 36, are only partially operating, and 65% of the primary health care centers are out of action completely.

Trump vows to 'save' deep-blue New York City in massive, historic Bronx rally

NEW YORK – Former President Trump has broken political norms by visiting one of the most deep-blue areas in New York City, a town not necessarily known for its kindness to Republicans. Trump rallied a crowd of what his campaign estimated to be 25,000 supporters at Crotona Park in the Bronx on Thursday, far more than the initial 3,500 it said were expected to attend. Those numbers appeared to also include those lined up outside the event – who waited hours for a shot at...

Springsteen Receives Prestigious Award

Bruce Springsteen received the Ivors Academy fellowship Thursday (5/23) night in London. He is the first international songwriter, 27th person overall, to be inducted into the fellowship, which is the awards’ highest honor. Sir Paul McCartney led the induction ceremony joking that “unlike Bruce’s concerts” he would “keep this brief.” The Academy is one of the largest professional associations for music writers in Europe. The academy works to support, protect, and campaign for the interests of songwriters, lyricists and composers.  McCartney was the first recipient in ’00 after the fellowship was established. .Over the years, Sir Elton John, Sting and Peter Gabriel have also been inducted. ### The post Springsteen Receives Prestigious Award appeared first on RockinTown.
