Cellphone data uncovers would-be assassin's disturbing determination to attack Trump — until Secret Service opened fire

Alleged would-be assassin Ryan Wesley Routh was located along the fence line where he made his sniper’s nest nearly 12 hours before a Secret Service agent fired at him from inside the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., a criminal complaint said. Routh, 58, a native of Greensboro, N.C., who has also lived in Kaaawa, Hawaii, was charged in a federal criminal complaint with single counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Those charges carry potential prison time of 15 and five years, respectively. Routh made a 10-minute appearance in federal court in West Palm Beach, where charges were read to him. An arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 30. A detention hearing will be held Sept. 23, according to the court docket. The FBI is investigating the incident as the second attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump since July 13. A probable-cause affidavit filed by the FBI said Routh first appeared along the fence line outside Trump International at 1:59 a.m. Sept. 15, based on geolocation data from Routh’s T-Mobile cell phone. He left that location at 1:31 p.m. when the Secret Service fired in his direction after an agent spotted a rifle poking out of the chain-link fence, the complaint said. Routh fled the scene, leaving behind an SKS-style 7.62x39 caliber rifle, a GoPro camera, backpacks containing anti-ballistic plates, and a plastic bag filled with food, police said. A witness saw Routh run away from the fence line and get into a Nissan SUV, which left the area at a high rate of speed, the criminal complaint said. The vehicle had license plates belonging to a stolen white 2012 Ford truck. Officers from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office located the Nissan traveling north on I-95 and initiated a traffic stop at 2:14 p.m., the criminal complaint said. “Routh was asked if he knew why he was being stopped; he responded in the affirmative,” wrote Special Agent Mark A. Thomas of the FBI’s West Palm Beach Resident Agency. Routh was convicted in December 2002 on a North Carolina charge of possession of a weapon of mass death and destruction, a Class F felony. Police have said the weapon in question was a fully automatic machine gun. Man with gun barricades self inside business www.newspapers.com Greensboro Police stopped Routh about 10 p.m. on Dec. 15, 2002, for a traffic violation. Police said he put his hand on a firearm before driving away and barricading himself at United Roofing. Routh was arrested after a three-hour standoff, according to a Dec. 17, 2002, article in the Greensboro News & Record. In March 2010, Routh was convicted in North Carolina of multiple felony counts for possession of stolen goods, the FBI said. Like Blaze News? Ohio gov says many Springfield bomb threats were made from overseas and all were hoaxes, undermining narrative blaming Trump

While many in the media blamed former President Donald Trump's rhetoric for dozens of bomb threats in Ohio, Republican Gov. Mike DeWine said Monday that all of the threats were hoaxes and many originated from overseas. Speaking from Springfield, DeWine said that he was ordering additional patrols for schools by the Ohio State Patrol in order to quell fears from the threats. He also said police investigations determined that all of the threats were hoaxes. 'We think this is one more opportunity to mess with the United States. So we cannot let the bad guys win.' "We have received at least 33 separate bomb threats. Each one of which has been responded to, and each one of whom has been found as a hoax," said DeWine. "So 33 threats, 33 hoaxes. I'll make that very, very clear. None of these had any validity at all." He went on to say many of the threats came from overseas, and particularly from one country which he did not identify by name. "We have people unfortunately overseas who are taking these actions. Some of them are coming from one particular country. We think this is one more opportunity to mess with the United States," he added. "So we cannot let the bad guys win." The finding undermined a narrative that the threats were a response to accusations repeated by Trump and his vice presidential candidate, JD Vance, that Haitian immigrants were eating residents' pets in Springfield. The city shut down a scheduled festival in response to the bomb threats. The city's police department, mayor, and city manager have denied any reports of pets being eaten. DeWine, who is a Republican, has also denied the accusations. "The Haitians who are working, they wouldn't be working unless they were legal," said DeWine during the briefing. "These are people who care about their families. These are people who value education. They're hard workers and I think we should respect that." He also said there was legitimate criticism to be made about immigration, especially about the crisis on the southern border, and admitted that there were challenges related to the influx of Haitians into Ohio. "A lot of this is a work in progress, we're not saying we don't have challenges," he added. "But we accept the challenges." Video of the entirety of DeWine's speech was available on YouTube. New California law will make your car nag you about slowing down

New California law will make your car nag you about slowing down

"Why are you taking that exit?" "You need to get in the turning lane." "Slow down!!!" Have you ever wanted to get that "backseat driver" experience when you're driving alone? This means all vehicles will have a speed alert to go along with the kill switch, data monitoring, and more. Move over, Jesus. Big Brother's your copilot now. Well, California (of course) just passed a bill that will force your car do the nagging for you. And unlike an irritating passenger, you can't tell it to shut up. If this bill becomes law, it's going to affect all of us. It's not as if car manufacturers are going to make California-only models. Senate Bill 961 mandates that each time your vehicle exceeds the speed limit by more than ten miles per hour, your car must "utilize a brief, one-time, visual and audio signal to alert the driver." These so-called "intelligent speed limiters" will be mandatory in all 2030 model year cars and beyond. And there's no way to disable them. It's passed both the state Assembly and the state Senate, which means all it needs now is Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom's signature. And this kind of authoritarian leftist nanny-state legislation is right in his wheelhouse, especially since violations won't just earn a ticket — they'll be "punishable as a crime." Of course, lawmakers are saying this has nothing to do with privacy — it's just a simple "safety feature." Right. Never mind that existing law already prohibits a person from driving a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than the speed limit, or greater than is reasonable or prudent given driving conditions or the possibility of endangering property or persons. The bill's sponsor, state Senator Scott Wiener (D), said he was surprised by the outraged response from the public. Probably because he's more used to the outrage that comes from his efforts to help "trans" children run away from home. The bill builds on a law that went into effect in the European Union in July. California is the first state to follow suit, but it won't be the last. The 17 other states that automatically adhere to California vehicle standards will also fall in line. They include New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. In opposition, California Senate Republicans sent Governor Newsom a letter requesting that he veto the bill, arguing that it "imposes an extreme burden" and that the state should instead increase police presence and punish drivers who violate traffic laws. "The state's traffic safety crisis will not be solved by government taking the wheel," said Republican state Senator Roger Niello. As the September 30 deadline to act on the bill looms, there is little to suggest that Newson will veto it. This means all vehicles will have a speed alert to go along with the kill switch, data monitoring, and more. Move over, Jesus. Big Brother's your copilot now.

Pharaoh Psamtik I and the Fall of Ashdod

Pharaoh Psamtik I, who reigned during the 26th Dynasty of Egypt, was one of the most significant rulers in Egyptian history, leading the country out of a period of fragmentation and restoring its status as a major power in the ancient world. His reign, lasting from 664 to 610 BC, marked a critical moment in Egyptian political and military history. A key event during Psamtik I’s rule was the Fall of Ashdod, a strategic coastal city in the Levant. This event was not only a demonstration of Psamtik's military prowess but also highlighted the shifting balance of power in the Near East during the 7th century BC. But did you know that it was also one of the longest sieges in military history? Read moreSection: NewsAsiaAncient PlacesHistoryFamous PeopleRead Later

5 Of The Most Violent Stories In Norse Mythology (Video)

Norse mythology is brimming with violent stories, many of which feature brutal battles and gruesome punishments. One of the earliest and most notable tales involves Ymir, the first being in the universe. Odin and his brothers killed Ymir and used his body to create the world, fashioning the earth from his flesh and the sky from his skull. The clouds, disturbingly, were made from his brains. Thor's encounters with giants also reflect this violent tradition. In one story, he went fishing with the giant Hymir, who feared they might encounter the world serpent, Jörmungandr. Thor, undeterred, hooked the serpent and attempted to drag it from the ocean. When Hymir panicked and cut the line, Thor, in his rage, threw the giant into the sea. The Norse God Odin: Viking God of War, Father of Thor, But There’s More Ymir in Norse Mythology: A Cosmic Creation Story Balder’s death is another infamous event. After every living thing in the universe swore not to harm him, Loki tricked the blind god Hodr into killing Balder with a sprig of mistletoe, the one item that had been overlooked. This death was seen as a harbinger of Ragnarok, the eventual destruction of the gods. Read moreSection: NewsMyths & LegendsEuropeVideosRead Later
