Ozzy Osbourne says he won’t play a full set with Sabbath at their final show

Ozzy Osbourne has been facing a lot of health issues during the past years and dealing with Parkinson's disease. That forced him to cancel his tour dates before the pandemic and since then he made only a few special appearances singing a few songs and recording two studio albums. It was recently announced Black Sabbath's final studio album with the original line-up that besides Ozzy has Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. The singer will also do a few solo songs with special guests before the headlining show. However, Ozzy now revealed in an interview on his SiriusXM show "Ozzy Speaks" that he won't do a full set with Sabbath. "I'm not planning on doing a set with Black Sabbath but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable. I am trying to get back on my feet. When you get up in the morning, you just jump out of bed. I have to balance myself, but I'm not dead. I'm still actively doing things," Ozzy Osbourne said. The special guests More special guests were announced. Some of them are: Guns N' Roses, Tool, Rival Sons, Andrew Watt, Dave Ellefson, Vernon Reid, Whitfield Crane and the actor Jason Momoa as the host. Other previously announced acts are Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Slash, Sammy Hagar, KK Downing, Jake E. John Lydon talks about the Sex Pistols reunion without him

The guitarist Steve Jones, the bassist Glen Matlock and the drummer Paul Cook reactivated the Sex Pistols again last year but this time without the vocalist John Lydon. For their current tour, the band recruited the singer Frank Carter (Gallows, Pure Love). In an interview with Classic Rock Review (Transcribed by Ultimate Guitar), Lydon was asked about the Sex Pistols touring without him. It is known that the relationship between them and Lydon was never easy. And of course, the singer was not happy at all when Jones partnered with FX to make the 2022 TV show “Pistol”, which told the band’s story from the guitarist's point of view. He even sued the band at the time trying to prevent the songs of the band from being used on the show. But he lost the legal battle and the show was released with the original tracks. John Lydon talks about the Sex Pistols reunion without him "I wrote the fucking songs, didn't I? You know, I gave him the image that was the frontman. I am the voice. What made the whole world sing? and now you're going out, as they did the year before with Billy Idol." "It's just karaoke, really. I would love to be embarrassed by high-quality songwriting from them. They've had long enough to get that together now, haven't they? Yeah, but no, they profess their hatred for me, but they can't live without me. Yeah, I am the punishment that goes on giving." John Lydon will also be on the road with P.I.L this year, you can see the tour dates below. The Doors guitar solo that was “copied” by Kiss and Pearl Jam

Nothing in music is 100% original, the inspiration always comes from somewhere and sometimes it's quite similar to the original source. One of the most interesting examples of that is a guitar solo by The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger which was later on copied by Kiss' Ace Frehley, who later on inspired Pearl Jam's Mike McCready to also record a similar version of that solo. This story was told by the Kiss co-founder, bassist and singer Gene Simmons in an interview with Billy Corgan (Transcribed by Ultimate Guitar). The Doors guitar solo that was "copied" by Kiss and Pearl Jam According to Simmons, Ace Frehley liked Robby Krieger's guitar solo in "Five To One" so much that he simply copied note for note that solo and played in Kiss' "She". Decades later, Mike McCready did a really similar guitar solo in Pearl Jam's hit "Alive", later on telling Simmons that. "I remember Mike McCready was telling me that when he first started Pearl Jam, when he first started (playing) guitars and everything that he'd listened to Ace, and in particular, (sings the opening line of the guitar solo to Pearl Jam's 'Alive') was one of the first solos he learned from a (Kiss) song called 'She.'" "I said, 'Mike, I don't know how to tell you this, but that's a note-for-note guitar solo from the Doors ('Five to One'). Ace liked it so much, he just reproduced it. He goes, 'No!'" "So, my point is, it's always very appreciative when somebody says, 'Loved your stuff.' Everybody's got bits and pieces of stuff. Listen to Zeppelin songs, you'll hear lots of blues, very recognizable, blues songs," Gene Simmons said. "Five To One" was released by The Doors on their third studio album in 1968. The Kiss song "She" was part of their third studio record "Dressed to Kill" in 1975. The Pearl Jam hit "Alive" would be released more than 15 years later, on their debut album "Ten" (1991). Keith Richards’ opinion on Sex Pistols

Keith Richards’ opinion on Sex Pistols

Rock and Roll music really conquered the world in the 50s with names like Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley. Those American artists were a huge inspiration for aspiring musicians all over the world, including the United Kingdom. It was a few years later, in the 60s, that bands like The Rolling Stones, formed by Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts and Brian Jones took everything to another level giving the music genre a new perspective. In the following decades many other sub-genres of Rock appeared. Including Punk, which really changed the landscape of the music business by the late 70s. But what was Richards' opinion on Punk and a band like Sex Pistols. What is Keith Richards' opinion on Sex Pistols By the time The Sex Pistols released their groundbreaking and only album "Never Mind the Bollocks" in 1977, The Rolling Stones already were one of the biggest bands in the world. Richards always was a sincere person and gave his real opinion on other artists. But he didn't say many good things about the Pistols. A little bit after the album was released, the Rolling Stones guitarist was interviewed and he mentioned the group. “I don’t think that Bowie or Johnny Rotten (Pistols' vocalist) or all the Zeppelins are anywhere in the future, let alone the present. Jagger believes punk is today, is now." "To think you’ve got to do something new just for the sake of doing it, it isn’t real. It’s the equivalent to when a lot of Dixieland bands added electric guitars, calling themselves R&B just to stay up with the times." He continued: "For a band of The Stones’ position to do that would have been ludicrous. It’s fatal for The Stones to try that. Why the fuck do we have to sound like the Sex Pistols for? What’s the point of listening to that shit? It’s for mass-media consumption,” Keith Richards said. One year before he had already talked about the band when he was asked about them by the journalist John Ingham. “Keith, there’s a band in London called the Sex Pistols. They think you’re old and should stop playing and get out the way.” Ingham recalled in his article that after saying that, the Rolling Stones guitarist was with “ultrasheen eyes glaring and just below the surface a volcano is erupting.” Richards' answer was: “Just let them try. We’re the Rolling Stones. No one tells us what to do. We’ll stop when we feel like it. (...) There’s more to it than saying ‘shit’ on TV or learning to spit by practicing in the mirror." Punk bands didn't impress Richards that much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqrAPOZxgzU&pp=ygULc2V4IHBpc3RvbHM%3D It was not only the Sex Pistols that really didn't impress him that much. Richards was really never was a fan of the music genre. He believed that most of the members of that band could barely play their instruments. He said that the thing he loved about that generation was the attitude but according to him “only a very few (bands) could actually play, you know, music,” he told Vevo back in 2011. Formed by John Lydon (Vocals), Mick Jones (Guitar), Glen Matlock (Bass) and Paul Cook (Drums), the Sex Pistols are one of the most influential bands of all time. Active initially from 1975 to 1978, the band released only one studio album: "Never Mind the Bollocks: Here's the Sex Pistols" (1977). That album had praised songs like "God Save the Queen", "Anarchy in the U.K." and "Pretty Vacant". Since the late 70s the group reunited multiple times for reunion concerts. They are currently active but with a touring singer named Frank Carter. Lydon continues to tour with his own band "P.I.L".The post Keith Richards’ opinion on Sex Pistols appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.
