A tall fence has been installed to wrap around the U.S. Capitol building in order to prepare for Joe Biden’s State of the Union address and due to "safety concerns."

John Kerry‚ President Joe Biden's departing climate czar and one of the most trusted men in Washington‚ D.C.‚ was mocked this week after implying that if Moscow reduced its carbon emissions‚ the world may "feel better" about the country and its ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) officially added a new member state on Wednesday as Sweden became the 32nd country to join the alliance. The entry of the Scandinavian country‚ which borders Russia‚ comes two years after Russia invaded Ukraine‚ starting the biggest war on the European continent since World War II. “This is a historic day. Sweden will now take its rightful place at NATO’s table‚ with an equal say in shaping NATO policies and decisions‚” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. “After over 200 years of non-alignment Sweden now enjoys the protection granted under Article 5‚ the ultimate guarantee of Allies’ freedom and security.” Article 5 ensures that member states are protected from attacks by requiring all member states to come to the aid of any country that is attacked. The only time that Article 5 has ever been activated was after Islamic terrorists attacked the United States on September 11‚ 2001. “Sweden brings with it capable armed forces and a first-class defence industry‚” Stoltenberg added. “Sweden’s accession makes NATO stronger‚ Sweden safer and the whole Alliance more secure. Today’s accession demonstrates that NATO’s door remains open and that every nation has the right to choose its own path.” Sweden’s entrance into NATO marks the end of a nearly 80-year post-World War II era of neutrality for the country. 🇸🇪 Sweden became NATO’s newest member upon depositing its instrument of accession to the North Atlantic Treaty in Washington DC. With Sweden’s accession‚ NATO now counts 32 countries among its members — NATO (@NATO) March 7‚ 2024 Sweden is now the second country to join NATO since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the war in Ukraine as Finland joined the organization last year. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that Sweden’s entrance into NATO was a “historic day” for the country. “We are humbled‚ but we are also proud‚” he said. “We will live up to high expectations from all NATO allies. United we stand. Unity and solidarity will be Sweden’s guiding light.”

Finding a message in a bottle is fun for everyone. Recently‚ workers discovered an odd message in Elizabeth Castle on the coast of France. Workers found the note in a fireplace while renovating the first-floor officer’s quarters. The fireplace was sealed initially in 1966‚ coinciding with the note’s date. The front of the note reads‚ “007 JAMES BOND / 26th Feb 1966. / P.S. SECRET AGENT. / DON’T TELL ANYBODY.” Image from Instagram. During the castle restoration‚ Jersey Heritage (JH) discovered the bottle encased in concrete in the fireplace. A signature on the back of the note‚ E A Blampied‚ provides the only clue. There were also several pages of a weekly newspaper‚ the Reveille‚ dated February 23‚ 1966. Imaged from Wikimedia Commons. Historic buildings officer Harvey Doolan initially thought that the signature might have been that of Edmund Blampied‚ a local Jersey artist. Although intriguing‚ the well-known artist passed away in August 1966. He would have been 79 years old when the note was placed in the fireplace. That makes it doubtful that the artist was the person who stowed the mystery note in the bottle. Who Was James Bond? Almost everyone knows the name of James Bond. He is a fictional secret agent who first appeared in the works of author Ian Fleming in 1953. Fleming wrote twelve novels and several short stories about the character before he died in 1964. The James Bond movie Thunderball was available in theaters two months before the date on the note. However‚ there is no known connection between the film’s release and the note. Many actors have portrayed the secret agent‚ including Roger Moore‚ Sean Connery (pictured above)‚ George Lazenby‚ Timothy Dalton‚ Pierce Brosnan‚ David Niven‚ and Daniel Craig (pictured above). Is There A Connection To Elizabeth Castle? Is the message possibly implying that the artist was the secret agent? With no corroborating information‚ who can say? JH has requested assistance from the public via an Instagram plea. Their only hope to decipher the meaning of the James Bond note is if someone familiar with it comes forward.
