A Florida man was accidentally shot with his own gun by a police officer during a traffic stop. According to reports, the police officer was fired after the incident. “Officer Shaun Lowry, of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, stopped driver Jason Arrington for running a red light around 5:10 p.m. on December 13, 2024, according to an internal affairs report shared by the sheriff’s office,” CBS News reports. “Officers Mindy Cardwell and Austin Weippert assisted in the stop,” the outlet added. Police described Arrington as “cooperative” during the stop, informing the officers he had a legal firearm on his body. According to the internal affairs report, Cardwell “put pressure on the trigger of the firearm, causing the weapon to fire a round into Arrington’s right leg.” Arrington told investigators that Cardwell “jerked” the weapon several times, causing the discharge, according to the report. Cardwell told investigators that the holster was tight and “would not come off” Arrington’s waistband, and said she had been using her non-dominant hand to remove the weapon. Police released bodycamera footage of the incident from all three officers. After the gun goes off, Lowry can be heard yelling “Holy s—!” and Weippert can be heard asking Arrington if he is OK. Weippert and Lowry instructed Cardwell to put the gun down, and the pair then radioed for help. Weippert can be seen helping Arrington over to the side of the road, and began applying a tourniquet. Blood can be seen on Arrington’s pants leg. Cardwell also helped provide first aid. “I’m in a lot of pain; I have nerve damage in my hip,” Arrington said in an interview with NewsNation. “I’m making the best of it, but, no, I’m not OK,” he added. “A traffic stop in Florida ended in chaos when a man was accidentally shot in the leg with his own gun. Jason Arrington and his attorney, Kay Harper Williams, tells NewsNation’s #Banfield they are pursuing legal action,” NewsNation wrote. Officers lowered Arrington to the ground and called for help before putting a tourniquet on his leg. An investigation resulted in Cardwell being charged with incompetence and the agency says it is starting her termination process. Arrington’s attorney, Kay Harper Williams, said that they are pursuing legal action. WATCH:

The satellite-TV provider has notified OAN’s owner, Herring Networks Inc., that it plans to stop carrying the company’s two channels when their contract expires. Herring Networks also owns AWE, a lifestyle channel that stands for “A Wealth of Entertainment.” “We informed Herring Networks that, following a routine internal review, we do not plan to enter into a new contract when our current agreement expires,” the company said in an emailed statement to Bloomberg News. DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Yemen's Houthi rebels unilaterally freed 153 war detainees Saturday, the International Committee of the Red Cross said, one of several overtures in recent days to ease tensions after the ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.  Previous prisoner releases have been viewed as a means to jumpstart talks over permanently ending Yemen's decadelong war, which began when the Houthis seized the country's capital, Sanaa, in 2014. However, the Houthis' release comes just after they detained another seven Yemeni workers from the United Nations, sparking anger from the world body.  Those released previously had been visited by Red Cross staff in Sanaa and received medical checks and other assistance, the organization said while announcing the release. The Houthis had signaled Friday night they planned the release of prisoners.  The Red Cross said it "welcomes this unilateral release as another positive step towards reviving negotiations."  "This operation has brought much-needed relief and joy to families who have been anxiously waiting for the return of their loved ones," said Christine Cipolla, the ICRC's head of delegation in Yemen. "We know that many other families are also waiting for their chance to be reunited. We hope that today's release will lead to many more moments like this."  Abdul Qader al-Murtada, the head of the Houthis' Committee for Prisoners' Affairs, said in a statement carried by Houthi media that those released were "humanitarian cases' that included the sick, wounded and the elderly.  "The goal of the initiative is to build trust and establish a new phase of serious and honest dealing," al-Murtada reportedly said.  The Red Cross has helped oversee other prisoner releases, including one that saw some 1,000 prisoners swapped in 2020, over 800 detainees exchanged in 2023 and another release in 2024.  The rebels said earlier this week they would limit their attacks on ships in the Red Sea corridor and released the 25-member crew of the Galaxy Leader, a ship they seized in November 2023, as the first Gaza ceasefire took hold.  The war in Yemen has killed more than 150,000 people, including fighters and civilians, and created one of the world's worst humanitarian disasters, killing tens of thousands more.  The Houthis' attacks on shipping during the Israel-Hamas war have helped deflect attention from their problems at home. But they have faced casualties and damage from U.S.-led airstrikes targeting the group for months now, as well as other strikes by Israel.  Meanwhile, Yemen's economy is in tatters, something that's put increasing pressure on the Houthis and others in the conflict to potentially negotiate an end to the war. A de facto ceasefire in the conflict, which drew in a Saudi-led coalition in 2015, has largely held for several years now even during the Houthis attacks over the Israel-Hamas war.  Yet the Houthis still conducted the raids that saw seven U.N. workers detained, likely alongside others. The rebels previously detained U.N. staffers, as well as individuals associated with the once-open U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen's capital, aid groups and civil society.  U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres late Friday demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the seven, as well as all other U.N. workers held by the Houthis, some since 2021.  "The continued targeting of U.N. personnel and its partners negatively impacts our ability to assist millions of people in need in Yemen," he warned in a statement. "The Houthis must deliver on their previous commitments and act in the best interests of the Yemeni people and the overall efforts to achieve peace in Yemen."  The U.N. has halted work in Yemen, which provides food, medicine and other aid to the impoverished nation.  U.S. President Donald Trump separately has moved to reinstate a terrorism designation he made on the group late in his first term that had been revoked by President Joe Biden, potentially setting the stage for new tensions with the rebels.  Analysts have linked the newest U.N. detentions as being connected to the decision, though the Houthis themselves have yet to comment on them. The rebels have been airing repeated programs on television channels they control parading people they describe as working with Western intelligence agencies or the Israelis.

Amid the tsunami of good that Donald J. Trump has unleashed since returning to the presidency, one wave deserves sustained applause. As I suggested last September, Trump revoked the security clearances of the 51 intelligence operatives who intimated that Hunter Biden’s laptop from hell was mere Kremlin propaganda.  These “Spies Who Lie,” as the New York Post dubbed them, earned this rebuke—at least. The federal government granted them secret clearances to help protect U.S. national security, not perpetrate blatant election interference and turbocharge censorship. The New York Post’s Oct. 14, 2020, exposé discussed the laptop and its extensive evidence of the Biden crime family’s elaborate global shakedowns. In short, Hunter and Joe Biden’s brother Jim swapped access to “the Big Guy” for a Porsche, jewelry, a Chinese-financed shopping spree, countless other luxuries, and $30 million in cash payments, House Government Oversight Chairman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, estimates.  After consulting Biden-Harris campaign aide Antony Blinken (who became secretary of state), former acting CIA director Michael Morell invited 50 other former intelligence officers to sign an open letter that trivialized the New York Post’s exclusive for containing “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” These spies had no evidence to support this Big Lie.  Democrats then used the ex-spies’ letter to browbeat Facebook, Twitter (now X), and other social-media platforms into hiding the laptop from hell. In fact, Twitter (pre-Elon Musk) froze the New York Post’s account for 15 days!  Federal agents also twisted arms in Silicon Valley to bury the New York Post’s dispatch.  “The FBI warned us about a potential Russian disinformation operation about the Biden family and Burisma,” Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg wrote House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, on Aug. 26, 2024. After the New York Post’s scoop emerged, Zuckerberg explained, “We sent that story to fact-checkers for review and temporarily demoted it while waiting for a reply. It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story.”  Meanwhile, during his final, Oct. 22, 2020, debate against Trump, Joe Biden invoked the ex-spies’ fake letter to smear the New York Post’s true story as “a bunch of garbage.” The pro-Biden media lapped this up and used the “garbage” line to conceal the New York Post’s story even further. Team 51’s abuse of their secret clearances proved highly effective.  According to a Nov. 24, 2020, Media Research Center/Polling Company survey of 1,750 Biden voters in seven swing states, 45.1% knew nothing about Hunter’s laptop. Among these voters, 9.4% said that this fact would have shifted their support to Trump, a third-party contender, or none of the above.  Had Biden lost 4.2% of his votes, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin would have slipped from his fingers and into Trump’s hands. This would have given Trump 311 Electoral College votes and four more years in the Oval Office. Imagine: Trump would have completed his second term Monday, rather than commence it.  Team 51 includes such luminaries as former director of national intelligence James Clapper and ex-CIA directors John Brennan, Michael Hayden, and Leon Panetta. They and others have savored book contracts, TV deals, and lucrative consulting arrangements. In short, these snakes have suffered zero consequences for deceiving the American people as they conducted their most solemn civic duty: choosing the president of the United States.  “The signatories willfully weaponized the gravitas of the Intelligence Community to manipulate the political process and undermine our democratic institutions,” Trump’s executive order states. “This fabrication of the imprimatur of the Intelligence Community to suppress information essential to the American people during a Presidential election is an egregious breach of trust reminiscent of a third world country.”  President Trump fired a torpedo into the hull of the USS Deep State. He had every right to rescind these scoundrels’ security clearances. This special privilege is intended to keep the American people safe, free, and prosperous—not to spread lies, bamboozle voters, and steal elections. We publish a variety of perspectives.
