Harley-Davidson has pulled back on some of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives after facing intense online pressure from its customer base. In a one-page statement shared on X, the motorcycle manufacturer announced that it has “not operated a DEI function since April 2024, and we do not have a DEI function today.” Harley-Davidson further wrote that it would not implement “hiring quotas” and “supplier diversity spend goals,” both of which were initially part of the company’s hiring practices. The company is also doing away with racial- and gender-segregated “Business Employee Resource Groups,” or BERGs. Instead, it promised to exclusively focus on “professional development, networking and mentoring.” Harley-Davidson’s move followed podcast host Robby Starbuck’s exposé into the company’s leftist initiatives, which Starbuck said included forcing its 1,800 employees to undergo training on how to be allies of the LGBTQ+. Here’s some of what we found: • Openly supports “the equality act" which would allow men into girl’s… pic.twitter.com/15kPUy8WVY — Robby Starbuck (@robbystarbuck) July 23, 2024 Indirectly addressing the backlash, Harley-Davidson claimed it was “saddened by the negativity on social media over the last few weeks, designed to divide the Harley-Davidson community.” It suggested that it took the scandal “very seriously.” Starbuck’s video calling out Harley-Davidson for its woke policies has garnered nearly 3 million views on X. “To put it mildly, Harley Davidson seems to have forgotten who their core customers are,” Starbuck wrote above the video.  The motorcycle company pledged to review “all sponsorship and organizations” it is affiliated with and claimed it “will not participate in HRC scoring going forward.” One of Starbuck’s accusations against Harley-Davidson was that it partnered with the Human Rights Campaign for the infamous Corporate Equality Index. Harley-Davidson is the third major U.S. company that Starbuck has investigated in recent months. Tractor Supply and manufacturer John Deere both pledged to make changes after Starbuck released separate videos delving into the two companies’ policies. The media’s relentless astro-turfing of support for Kamala Harris went into overdrive on the first night of the DNC. Either somebody from the campaign distributed talking points to the media, or else everyone at CNN, MSNBC, and the broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) independently rediscovered the word “electric” at exactly the same time. Since becoming her party’s presumptive nominee, Kamala Harris has enjoyed all of the fawning press a Democratic candidate ought to expect during an election year. When Republicans attacked her far-left record as a Senator, the media responded by indignantly screeching that she was actually a “moderate.” When an NYT/Siena indicated she led Trump in some swing-states, the newscasters spent an entire day marveling at her incredible “momentum.” And now that she’s at the DNC to accept her party’s nomination, the we’re seeing a suspiciously uniform claim across both cable and broadcast networks that the energy at the convention is “electric.” We’ve seen the media reading verbatim from DNC-prescribed talking points before, so it’s no wonder that they’re doing the same thing here. But they could at least try to be a little more subtle about it. Here’s a quote the DNC gave to Politico yesterday: We are proud of the electric atmosphere in our convention hall and proud that our convention is showcasing the broad and diverse coalition behind the Harris-Walz ticket throughout the week on and off the stage. What a coincidence!

A self-described “fearful” Michael Kosta welcomed Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to Monday’s edition of The Daily Show on Comedy Central on night one of the Democratic National Convention from Chicago to implore her and other Democrats to have a long-term strategy against Donald Trump. Kosta feared that Trump will eventually figure out how to campaign against Harris and worried Democrats are too busy falling in love with Harris to know how to adapt, “There is a lot of energy for Kamala right now. There's a lot of momentum. I’m fearful, though, I'm fearful that Democrats aren't thinking a few steps ahead. Trump is throwing his tantrums, he's mad that she is doing well. But you know, he's a competitor. He is going to pivot. He is going to come back with something. Are the Dems strategizing many steps ahead?”     Instead of trying to immediately alleviate his fears, Whitmer tried to dunk on Trump, “I believe so, but what are you anticipating? What is he going to do in a couple of weeks? I mean, I think he is sitting at home watching the energy, the enthusiasm, the optimism that’s going to come out of this week, and I think it is going to hurt his brain.” Kosta doubled down, “Yeah, well, it is – Okay! Okay. Let's hope that happens. Let's prepare for him to get his head on straight and stop throwing a tantrum like a 4-year-old. He's acting like a 4-year-old. Eventually, they calm down and they figure out the weak spot. So, I'm just hoping the Dems — are you — you are a co-chair on Kamala's campaign? Are you strategizing, are you talking long term?” This time Whitmer was more sober, “Yeah. Well, I mean, Michigan is Michigan. There's Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan. These are the swingiest of states. And we are going to decide the outcome of the election. We have got to show up, got to do the work, we got to be in all 83 counties. We cannot write off a place because it looks Republican in past elections. We're going to show up and we are going to pull people in because this—” As the audience cheered, Kosta and Whitmer agreed that “showing up” was an important part of that strategy. The fact that a comedy show would feel the need to urge a party to have a better campaign strategy might seem odd, but The Daily Show exists first and foremost to help Democrats. Armed with thousands of internal communications from Soros-funded prosecutors, MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider criticized these officials for their subservience to their benefactor, George Soros.  An Aug. 12 report by the Media Research Center analyzed 7,785 internal communications between soft-on-crime Soros-backed prosecutors, exposing how Soros funds groups to control and direct these prosecutors. On the Aug. 17 edition of Newsmax’s Saturday Report, Schneider discussed these findings with anchor Rita Cosby. Schneider went after the “Soros Machine,” noting that the MRC obtained extensive records of conversations between these prosecutors and Soros-funded groups. “These are documents between these prosecutors and the Soros machine and their emails, their text messages, their WhatsApp messages. And it shows that these prosecutors not only got elected with the money of George Soros, but they continue to do his bidding,” Schneider said. Schneider further warned that “it's the George Soros machine that tells these prosecutors what their agenda is going to be, how to behave, even who to hire.” The recent MRC report detailed the myriad ways in which radical Soros-funded groups like Fair and Just Prosecutions (FJP) exerted influence over prosecutors. In one striking case, former Harris County District Attorney Kimberly Ogg, first elected with Soros’s support, was challenged by a Soros-backed primary challenger after she stopped endorsing FJP’s radical pledges. This resulted in Ogg's removal from office.  In another instance, FJP requested that Soros prosecutors promote their group on social media. DeKalb County DA Sherry Boston, a Soros-backed prosecutor, followed these instructions closely, proudly posting a sample tweet nearly verbatim. NFL free agent punter Drue Chrisman made fun of the NFL after he was allegedly told to remove any social media content featuring league facilities after a recent tryout.Chrisman is a former Cincinnati Bengals player who was released before the 2023 season and has been recently participating in tryouts for NFL teams. Specifically, Chrisman posted a video about his tryout for the Washington Commanders. 'Take down all social media posts that show anything Commanders.'Chrisman's influencer-style video included camera tricks to magically change clothes and featured several setup shots that would have required the punter to place his phone in strategic areas and then act out his day for the camera.This was particularly strange in settings like the bathroom or changing room at the team's training camp facility."My day in Washington.. stay until the end to see the result," the caption for his X video read.The video, which has reached 1.3 million views, showed Chrisman arriving at the Commanders' facility, weighing in, taking practice kicks, eating, and then eventually being rejected by the team.The video ends with Chrisman coming home to his young daughter in what also appeared to be a preplanned video shoot.Six hours later, Chrisman posted a screenshot of a text message he received from an unknown source that could have been his agent or representative of some kind."Drue, Just got call [from] Commanders legal dept. pls take down all social media posts that show anything Commanders. TY," the message read.Chrisman captioned the post "No Fun League," even tagging the Washington Commanders' official page in the post.However, this wasn't the punter's first video of the same kind. A week earlier, Chrisman posted his behind-the-scenes recap of his tryout with the San Francisco 49ers on TikTok.The video goes similarly with several shots from inside the 49ers' training facility and eventually ends with an unfortunate rejection from the football team.Given the nature of the video and the fact that the punter includes ads for his own business in the footage, it isn't hard to imagine why certain NFL teams wouldn't want a would-be team member turning his tryout into personalized content. Apple is expected to introduce two new AirPods 4 models this year. These earbuds should be announced during the iPhone 16 event in September. Rumors so far give us a glimpse of what to expect from these devices. However, I hope Apple learns a thing or two from how its Beats brand recently updated its Beats Studio Buds+ and Beats Solo Buds. Here's what rumors say about AirPods 4 Bloomberg's Mark Gurman expects Apple to announce two AirPods 4 models. Both would use a USB-C port instead of lightning. The entry-level version would look similar to AirPods 3, while the other would have a non-replaceable ear tip for ANC. This better model would get an updated charging case with speakers for Find My Alert. Other possibilities for these earbuds include hearing-aid-like features to AirPods 4, in addition to the H2 chip and improved battery life. With new products, the company was able to sound the same in different price levels and only add/remove features to make its devices more premium or accessible. With AirPods 4 expected to replace the second and third generations, I hope Apple draws a closer line between the different models, as the more expensive AirPods 4 could make some users choose it instead of the Pro version. That said, I appreciate that Apple might offer an option without ear tips, as this is the most comfortable version. At the same time, I think it would be weird if the company offered non-replaceable ear tips for the new AirPods, as they could limit sales. While Apple might expand the battery life of this device, I don't think it will offer a Beats Solo Buds-like option, which has an impressive battery life but with a regular case. On the other hand, the more expensive AirPods 4 will be similar to the Beats Studio Buds+ but with additional perks, as reported by Bloomberg. With that, users will get a superb sound, proper Find My capabilities, but no Transparency Mode or other fancy features available with AirPods Pro 2.
