Delphi Defense Attorneys Say Newly Obtained Cellphone Data Points To Other Suspects

Defense attorneys for the man accused of killing two Delphi‚ Indiana‚ teenagers back in 2017 say newly obtained cellphone data suggests someone other than their client committed the crimes. Richard Allen was charged with kidnapping and murdering 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German on a Delphi hiking trail. His defense attorneys say the prosecution’s timeline of the crime no longer points to their client‚ WTHR reported. Defense attorneys Brad Rozzi and Andrew Baldwin wrote in their fourth request to throw out evidence found during a search of Allen’s home that cellphone evidence they obtained on Friday points to another suspect. The cellphone data‚ according to the attorneys‚ shows that German’s cellphone was connecting with a cell tower near the hiking trail on February 13‚ the day the girls were killed‚ but stopped connecting at 5:44 p.m. In court records‚ the defense said police believed “the information which they were receiving from AT&;T indicated that the cellphone was no longer in the area or no longer in working condition.” But at 4:33 a.m.‚ the cellphone again made contact with the tower‚ eight hours before the girls’ bodies were found. This‚ according to the defense‚ suggests someone else had to have killed the girls because if the prosecution’s theory is true‚ the phone never would have moved or made additional contact with the tower. “That’s so important because at this juncture‚ Richard Allen is the only person charged with these murders‚” defense attorney and former deputy prosecutor Katie Jackson-Lindsay told WTHR. “Richard Allen is the only one alleged to have committed the crime at all. He’s not charged under a theory of conspiracy‚ and we’ve not heard of any other even potential suspects.” The new timeline comes at the same time defense attorneys are again accusing prosecutors of withholding critical evidence‚ the Journal &; Courier reported. Allen’s attorneys called for sanctions against Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland‚ whom they accuse of “convoluted‚ disorganized and often untimely discovery dumps.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The defense team has claimed to have received critical evidence late or not at all. And McLeland has lodged contempt allegations against the defense attorneys‚ accusing them of violating a gag order. The contempt claims came in a filing from McLeland on January 29. Baldwin and Rozzi’s attorney‚ David Hennessy‚ filed a motion in February asking for clarification on the allegations‚ saying the claims suffered from “insufficiencies.” In one example‚ Hennessy noted that McLeland accused his clients of violating the court’s order regarding statements about the case. He cited a news release from November 2022 – which was before the court issued a gag order. Hennessy said McLeland has not explained how this amounted to contempt of court. Allen’s trial is scheduled to begin on May 13.

Looking across the national landscape‚ one cannot help but wonder what happened to our shared national image. Gone are the times of old when Americans sought to expand our great experiment across the continent and gone are the days when people of faith led institutions. With few exceptions‚ most institutions of higher education‚ entertainment‚ and government are led by a cadre of post-modernists who believe there is no essential truth or objective morality. Their modern sense of subjective moralism renders all previous generations immoral. This is part of why we see American universities beset with students and faculty who burn the American flag and cheer for the intersectional redemption that comes with the “anti-imperialist” revolution from “Palestine” to California. However‚ there are some who are pushing back. Last week‚ the Philos Project went to Columbia University to demonstrate solidarity with the Jewish students. The Philos Project’s mission is to “promote positive Christian engagement in the Near East by creating leaders‚ building community‚ and taking action in the spirit of the Hebraic Tradition.” Susanna Hoffman‚ 24‚ said‚ “We believe that as Christians‚ our roots are in Hebraic tradition. We are trying to restore the values that we are losing in the West as evidenced by everything that has been happening at Columbia University and the campuses across America.” When asked how she thinks we can restore Judeo-Christian values‚ she replied‚ “We believe it starts with Christians uniting with Jews because that is the bedrock of our civilization. We are trying to educate Christians to understand that foundation so they can speak out against the values proclaimed on these campuses.” Those values are that all men are created in the image of G-d and‚ as such‚ are inherently blessed with rights — rights which no government can remove from the people — and that the government’s sole role is to help guide and order a society to allow it to flourish in a manner commensurate with G-d’s moral and ethical code. This heritage commands us to love our neighbor and look after the needy. It also instructs us on how to order our everyday lives. Contrary to postmodernist thought‚ this enlightened tradition does not mean individuals should be selfish and abuse their freedoms with wanton abandon‚ but that freedom should be used to build a productive and just society. Unfortunately‚ the current political climate has misrepresented these beliefs as those held solely by conservatives‚ but this is far from the truth. It was JFK‚ a liberal president‚ who said‚ “Ask not what your country can do for you‚ but what you can do for your country.” As the President of Jewish Students for America‚ I work to ensure that a bipartisan group of students dedicated to combating anti-Semitism across our nation do so with these founding values at the center of our mission. To rebuild this nation‚ we must reconnect with our fellow man and recognize our shared heritage. Only by partnering can Jewish and Christian Americans rebuild our nation’s heritage because America’s heritage is the sum of our shared values. I have personally seen many college campuses where the lack of moral clarity from the administration served as the primary cause of anti-Semitic incidents. What’s more‚ this lack of moral clarity from these institutions corrodes the next generation into a misguided worldview that abandons this rich tradition. Our group advocates for more specific legal measures that will help combat some of the causes of anti-Semitism. For example‚ we lobby Congress to withhold federal funding from universities that don’t uniformly apply roles of conduct‚ adopt the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism‚ and enforce immigration laws. However‚ to succeed in the long run‚ our country needs a moral reckoning. Only then will our universities and other institutions recognize what is right and wrong. America’s founders envisioned a republic founded on the self-evident truth that “all men are created equal‚ that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights‚ that among these are Life‚ Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” They continuously emphasized the centrality of G-d and morality. Indeed‚ it was John Adams who declared that “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. A GoFundMe has been set up to fund a “rager” for a group of fraternity brothers who helped defend the American flag on the University of North Carolina’s Chapel Hill campus‚ refusing to back down even as pro-Palestinian protesters surrounded them and shouted profanities and threw water on them. The incident was documented by UNC student Guillermo Estrada (with the help of some photos from Parker Ali)‚ who said that he had jumped into the fray not for political reasons but simply because he did not want to see the American flag disrespected by his fellow students. “Today was a sad yet empowering day at Chapel Hill. New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams said on Wednesday that the anti-Israel protest at Columbia University has been influenced by “outside agitators” who appeared to show that they had been trained. After NYPD officers stormed Hamilton Hall on Columbia’s campus and arrested dozens of protesters who were illegally occupying the building on Tuesday night‚ Adams said in a press conference that authorities were attempting to “distinguish between who were actually students and who were not supposed to be on the grounds‚” The New York Post reported. “There were individuals on the campus who should not have been there. They were people who are professionals and we saw evidence of training‚” Adams said. “I know that there are those who attempting to say‚ ‘Well‚ the majority of people may have been students.’ You don’t have to be the majority to influence and co-op an operation. That is what this is about.” “This is a global problem that young people are being influenced by those who are professionals at radicalizing our children and I’m not going to allow that to happen as the mayor of the city of New York‚” he added. NYPD Deputy Commissioner Tarik Sheppard said on Wednesday that the chains used by anti-Israel protesters to lock themselves in Hamilton Hall are “not what students bring to school.” “This is what professionals bring to campuses and universities‚” Sheppard said. The anti-Israel Columbia protest began nearly two weeks ago‚ with demonstrators setting up tents on the Ivy League school’s grounds and calling for Columbia to divest from Israel as the country fights Hamas. Sheppard added that between 40-50 protesters were arrested on Tuesday night as NYPD officers made their way through Hamilton Hall. “In order for our emergency services group to enter into the building‚ they had to first cut through these chains‚ but also get rid of debris and barricaded doors that were barricaded with refrigerators‚ vending machines‚ chairs‚ you name it‚ they pushed it up against those doors to try to stop us from coming in‚” he said. From Vegas To Honolulu: Docs Show Where Foreign Nationals Paroled By Biden Admin Fly Into U.S.

House Republicans released data on Tuesday showing where hundreds of thousands of inadmissible foreign nationals have flown into the United States after being authorized to travel into the country by the Biden administration under its “mass parole” system.  Under the Department of Homeland Security’s Processes for Cuban‚ Haitian‚ Nicaraguan‚ and Venezuelan (CHNV) parole program‚ the Biden administration has approved over 404‚000 foreign nationals from those countries for entry into the United States. The program ostensibly allows people from these countries to be paroled into the United States to work for up to two years for “humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.” Beneficiaries of the program also need to “arrange and fund their own travel‚” according to DHS.  Documents obtained by Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee show that paroled individuals flew into 50 different airports‚ primarily in the United States. The top two airport destinations were in Florida‚ according to the documents.  Over 91‚000 people flew into Miami‚ while over 60‚000 were flown into Fort Lauderdale. Other top airport locations included New York City (14‚827)‚ Houston (7‚923)‚ Orlando (6‚043)‚ Los Angeles (3‚271)‚ Tampa (3‚237)‚ Dallas (2‚256)‚ San Francisco (2‚052)‚ Atlanta (1‚796)‚ Newark (1‚498)‚ Washington‚ D.C. (1‚472)‚ Chicago (496)‚ Las Vegas (483)‚ and Austin (171). Other people flew into Hawaii‚ the Bahamas‚ Ireland‚ Canada‚ and the Virgin Islands. The numbers only include data from January 2023 until August 2023.  DHS told the committee that the people approved for the program were technically inadmissible. “All individuals paroled into the United States are‚ by definition‚ inadmissible‚ including those paroled under the CHNV Processes‚” the department said.  “Secretary Mayorkas’ CHNV parole program is an unlawful sleight of hand used to hide the worsening border crisis from the American people. Implementing a program that allows otherwise inadmissible aliens to fly directly into the U.S. — not for significant public benefit or urgent humanitarian reasons as the Immigration and Nationality Act mandates — has been proven an impeachable offense‚” said Homeland Security Committee Chair Mark Green (R-TN).  At the same time‚ DHS has been flying paroled individuals from Cuba‚ Haiti‚ Nicaragua‚ and Venezuela‚ over half of illegal crossings at the southern border during fiscal year 2023 were from those countries‚ according to the committee.  CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “Following our subpoena and the House’s impeachment vote — especially in light of the Senate’s complete failure to fulfill its duty to hold a trial — the Committee will not rest until this administration is finally held accountable for its open-borders agenda and its devastating impact on our homeland security‚” Green added.

Northwestern University Caves To Anti-Israel Protesters‚ Granting Numerous Demands

While many colleges that have been overtaken by anti-Israel demonstrators have begun cracking down on the encampments and violence‚ Northwestern University has instead caved to protester demands. In a document released Tuesday‚ Northwestern has vowed to make concessions to protesters‚ including five full-ride scholarships for Palestinian students and funding two Palestinian faculty members for two years. The university also said it would commit “to fundraise to sustain this program beyond this current commitment.” The university will also “provide immediate temporary space for [Middle East and North Africa] MENA/Muslim students.” Following that‚ Northwestern said it plans to provide and renovate a house for these students “as soon as practicably possible” after it finishes its current renovation project‚ slated for completion in 2026. The university will include Jewish students in a “process dedicated to ensuring additional support for Jewish and Muslim students within Student Affairs/Religious &; Spiritual Life.” And while the university did not say it would divest from Israeli companies‚ it did say it would re-establish its Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility‚ allowing students‚ faculty‚ and staff a say in how the school invests its endowment‚ opening a door for those who want to divest from Israel. The university also said it would “answer questions from any internal stakeholder about specific holdings‚ held currently or within the last quarter‚ to the best of its knowledge and to the extent legally possible” within 30 days or provide a reason and timeline for a later response. As for the camp itself‚ Northwestern said it would permit “peaceful demonstrations” on the campus’ Deering Meadow through the end of the spring semester‚ provided such activity adheres to university policies. The school said one aid tent would be allowed to remain in the encampment‚ but all other tents must be removed. In addition‚ protesters may not use bullhorns or any other devices that project or amplify sound unless approved in advance. Only members of the Northwestern community will be allowed in the demonstration area unless authorized by the university. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP However‚ the university said it would “publicly condemn the doxing of any community member and will advise employers not to rescind job offers for students engaging in speech protected by the First Amendment.” In a statement announcing the agreement‚ Northwestern said the agreement “represents a sustainable and de-escalated path forward‚ and enhances the safety of all members of the Northwestern community while providing space for free expression that complies with University rules and policies.” Northwestern also blamed “antisemitic and anti-Muslim/Palestinian” incidents on people not affiliated with the university‚ and said any members of the community “who can be identified participating in such acts will face disciplinary action.” Most of the anti-Israel protesters wear masks to hide their faces. The agreement has been met with condemnations from those who support Israel. The Anti-Defamation League called the agreement “reprehensible.” “The agreement between Northwestern University leadership and encampment organizers is reprehensible‚ dangerous‚ and a case study in failed leadership‚” the organization’s Midwest division said in a statement posted to X. “For days‚ protesters violated campus codes of conduct and policies‚ intentionally fanned the flames of hate and antisemitism‚ and wreaked havoc on campus life. Instead of holding the perpetrators accountable‚ the university rewarded them. It would be unbelievable if it wasn’t true.” Israel’s consulate in Chicago also condemned the agreement in a post on X‚ saying the university “declared itself a safe space for Antisemitism.” “We are appalled by Northwestern’s decision to turn its back on Jewish and Israeli students who have been targets of hateful harassment and intimidation. This decision rewards the pro-terror‚ anti-Israel‚ and anti-America aggressors on campus‚” the consulate wrote. “This appeasement agreement is a dark day in Northwestern history.”

Matt Hilton from Blue Sky Pest Control became an unlikely MVP at the Major League Baseball (MLB) game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the LA Dodgers. Matt went from tee-ball to the major leagues in one day&;#33; He started his day at his son’s tee-ball game. Just as the tee-ball game was getting underway‚ he received an emergency call from Diamondbacks VP of Operations Mike Rock. The big league baseball game at Chase Field was on a bee delay. Matt had an escort onto the field like a boss‚ riding in on a golf cart with his gear in hand. He waved to the crowd and got the hero treatment‚ complete with a standing ovation. Setting up quickly‚ he went to work to remove the bees humanely. Chase Field provided a scissor lift to allow Matt to reach the bees. Once the task was complete‚ the fans began chanting‚ “MVP&;#33; MVP&;#33;” The marquee was blazing‚ “Thank you bee guy.” And if all that wasn’t thanks enough for the speedy response to this un-bee-lievable delay‚ Matt even got to throw out the first pitch&;#33; Image from X. Although his 6-year-old son‚ Levi‚ was a bit miffed that his dad left his tee-ball game‚ he did mellow after hearing about his dad’s adventures in the big leagues. He now has bragging rights in school because his dad is famous. Perhaps one day‚ Matt will be watching Levi play at Chase Field. The Bee Delay Ended‚ And The Baseball Game Began After Matt threw out the honorary first pitch‚ the bee delay ended‚ and the announcer called out‚ “Play BALL&;#33;” at 8:35 PM. Kudos to the Diamondback staff‚ the Dodgers‚ and the MLB for acting quickly to protect the fans and players. Matt deserves the MVP award for his heroic performance. He hammed it up for the crowd so they didn’t mind the bees delaying the baseball game as much. This was not the first swarm of bees to interrupt a baseball game‚ and it will probably not be the last. However‚ it is the largest swarm experienced at Chase Stadium. Players and fans greatly appreciated Matt’s quick and efficient cleanup.
