Bomb Threat Reported At DNC Headquarters
U.S. Capitol Police responded to a bomb threat at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters on Thursday.
Police told congressional offices they were responding to a “potential security concern.”
“Capitol Police are responding to an incident at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Headquarters. Staff are asked to remain clear of the police activity. More updates are forthcoming as the situation evolves,” a message read, according to NBC4 Washington.

NBC4 Washington has more:
U.S. Capitol Police said after being alerted to the threat, they did not find anything outside of the building. Out of an abundance of caution, they were checking the interior of the building.
“This afternoon, there was a bomb threat at the DNC headquarters that was determined not to be credible by the U.S. Capitol Police,” DNC spokeswoman Hannah Muldavin told reporters. “Out of an abundance of caution, Capitol Police is conducting an interior sweep of the building. As DNC Chair Ken Martin has said, political violence in every form has no place in our country. We’re grateful to the U.S. Capitol Police and DNC building security for responding quickly and professionally.”
The scare comes amid heightened security on Sept. 11 and in the wake of the killing of Charlie Kirk a day earlier.

Political leaders are on heightened alert after the shooting of Charlie Kirk on Wednesday.
“I think many of them are nervous, of course. They’re public figures. They’re exposed all the time, everywhere. We have great security measures for members of Congress, but there’s a desire on many people’s parts to have more,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson says there's been a “deluge” of lawmakers calling for heightened security following Charlie Kirk's murder.

NewsNation noted:
Some lawmakers are rethinking outdoor events, as President Donald Trump did after he was shot during an outdoor rally in 2024.
At least three Democratic reps have rescheduled or relocated planned outdoor events over the next few days, Politico reports. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., told reporters she had already moved her planned event inside before Kirk’s death, then rescheduled it after learning about the assassination.
Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told reporters he thinks all members should think harder about outdoor events. Comer chairs the powerful House Oversight Committee.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said he will expedite a review of member security procedures.
“We have got to protect people running for public office or nobody will,” Johnson said.
In the last 24 hours, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have released statements calling for an end to political violence.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune posted on social media “There is no place in our country for political violence. Period, full stop. Please join me in praying for Charlie Kirk.”
Rep. Joyce Beatty echoed this sentiment in her social media post Thursday, writing “political and gun violence has no place in America. My prayers are with all those impacted by yesterday’s tragedies — their loved ones, and their communities.”
