AG Letitia James Mocks President Trump Over Interest In Fraud Case

New York Attorney General Letitia James continues to openly mock President Trump over the interest he has to pay on the fine handed out over his New York City civil fraud case. In one post‚ Letitia James says‚ “+$114‚553.04.” about the interest President Trump owes. See the post here: You don’t realize it yet‚ but when this judgement is thrown out(which it will be) these taunts will be used by Trump when he goes after NY for damages. Liberals just don’t understand cause and effect. — Russell Hicks (@RussellHicksJr) February 26‚ 2024 Letitia James and the rest of the Democrats who are pushing this lawfare against President Trump are going to have to swallow their hubris after this ruling is overturned. The folks at Fox News share more: New York Attorney General Letitia James appeared to taunt former President Trump about the interest he may own in a civil fraud judgment. Trump’s legal team on Monday appealed a Feb. 16 ruling from New York Judge Arthur Engoron’s finding him liable for more than $350 million in damages in the civil fraud case brought against him by James. Engoron ordered Trump to pay just over $354 million‚ with post-judgment interest accruing at nearly $112‚000 per day. “In a massive victory‚ we won our case against Donald Trump for engaging in years of incredible financial fraud to enrich himself. Trump‚ Donald Trump‚ Jr.‚ Eric Trump‚ and his former executives must pay over $450 million in disgorgement and interest‚” James wrote on X‚ celebrating on the same day of the judgment. On Feb. 23‚ James‚ who has denied having a “personal vendetta” against Trump despite remarks suggesting otherwise‚ posted flatly‚ “$464‚576‚230.62.” “+$114‚553.04‚” she added in another post the next day‚ referring to the potential added interest Trump may be on the hook for. Read what Vivek Ramaswamy has to say: Every American should watch this video of Letitia James‚ in her own words. This is third-world stuff. Our country is done if these are the kinds of people in charge of making prosecutorial decisions.pic.twitter.com/bfPSlsRGVg — Vivek Ramaswamy (@VivekGRamaswamy) February 22‚ 2024 Watch this prediction of what is to come: This is what people like Letitia James are turning NYC into. pic.twitter.com/Ro86jkSa4Q — Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) February 21‚ 2024 The Independent shares more: Post-judgment interest is accruing at a rate of 9 per cent on the $464m judgment against five individuals and the Trump Organization after a judge determined that the former president fraudulently inflated his net worth and assets over a decade to maintain favourable financing terms on some of his brand-building properties. The total owed back to the state among all the defendants – money that is effectively forfeited as “ill-gotten gains” – amounts to roughly $364m‚ plus at least $100m in interest. The interest on Mr Trump’s portion of a final judgment comes to more than $112‚000 each day. On Monday‚ his legal team filed notice of an appeal‚ but did not appear to bost bond‚ which he would need to do to stop collections on the judgment. Ms James has said she is is prepared to seize his assets‚ if necessary. Letitia James is a stain on New York City. If she does seize President Trump’s properties‚ there will be huge ramifications for the whole city. Businesses are going to continue fleeing New York for states like Florida.

President Trump and Elon Musk Receive Support From Unlikely Source…

It’s always good to see people stand up for the right thing and stand up for the rights of others—especially when it involves people who may not like each other very much. Jeb Bush ran against former President Trump during the GOP primaries in 2016‚ and‚ at the time‚ the 45th President had some choice words for Jeb. Former President Trump called Bush ‘low energy’ among other things and was less than kind to Jeb. Now‚ we are seeing the former Trump rival come out in defense of the former President following the disastrous and unjust New York City ruling in a recent op-ed piece. Journalist Kanekoa The Great shared some of Jeb Bush’s wise words: “Every American has a right to be critical of Mr. Trump’s politics—one of us ran against him in 2016—or Mr. Musk’s public persona. But equality before the law is precious‚ and these rulings represent a crisis not only for the soundness of our courts but for the business environment that has allowed the U.S. to prosper. If these rulings stand‚ the damage could cascade through the economy‚ creating fear of arbitrary enforcement against entrepreneurs who seek public office or raise their voices as citizens in a way that politicians dislike. In Delaware‚ Chancellor Kathleen McCormick of the Court of Chancery ordered the unwinding of five years of Mr. Musk’s incentive-based compensation at Tesla‚ which had been approved by 80% of the company’s shareholders. The plaintiff‚ Richard Tornetta‚ held nine shares in 2018—worth about $200 then and $2‚000 today‚ after the execution of the compensation plan that supposedly injured him. Mr. Musk’s compensation plan awarded him stock bonuses tied to earnings and stock-value benchmarks‚ which many critics thought he could never meet. When he did‚ he received $56 billion‚ enriching shareholders like Mr. Tornetta along the way. Judge McCormick has yet to say how she wants the pay package unwound‚ but Mr. Tornetta’s lawyers could petition her for a percentage of the $56 billion as a fee for having succeeded in their challenge. Mr. Musk’s performance at Tesla enriched all shareholders‚ but Judge McCormick’s ruling may primarily enrich Delaware trial lawyers. The unusual New York law Ms. James used to investigate and sue Mr. Trump didn’t require her to prove that he had intended to defraud anyone‚ or even that anyone lost money. The Associated Press found that of the 12 cases brought under that law since its adoption in 1956 in which significant penalties were imposed‚ the case against Mr. Trump was the only instance without an alleged victim or financial loss. Bankers from Deutsche Bank‚ which lent money to Mr. Trump‚ testified that they were satisfied with having done so‚ given they were paid back on time and with interest. They also testified that they were uncertain whether the alleged exaggerations would have affected the terms of the loans to Mr. Trump—a key part of Ms. James’s case. Since there were no victims‚ the state will collect the damages. New York and Delaware have played an outsize role in business in the U.S. Many major companies are incorporated in Delaware owing to the state’s body of corporate legal precedents; and a significant number of banks operate in New York‚ the world financial capital. The appellate courts in those states now have a chance to review these dangerous judicial rulings and try to stop further damage to the reputations of their respective judiciaries.” Jeb Bush is warning that the government’s weaponization against Donald Trump and Elon Musk poses a grave threat to business and the rule of law in the United States of America. That’s how far these politicized prosecutors and activist judges have veered into hazardous territory.… pic.twitter.com/Rz5pmBzJGp — KanekoaTheGreat (@KanekoaTheGreat) February 26‚ 2024 From Jeb Bush: “The U.S. is the business capital of the world in large part because of its robust constitutional system &; impartial judiciary. But two unprecedented legal decisions against Donald Trump in NY &; Elon Musk in DE call that into question.” https://t.co/BFDZmpGKWq — Jason Miller (@JasonMillerinDC) February 22‚ 2024 According to The Epoch Times: Referencing the decision handed down by New York Judge Arthur Engoron this month against the former president‚ Mr. Bush wrote that New York Attorney General Letitia James used an “unusual New York law” to target President Trump that did not “require her to prove that he had intended to defraud anyone‚ or even that anyone lost money.” And since there were no victims‚ he noted that “the state will collect the damages. Editor-in-Chief of The Federalist Mollie Hemingway implored people to read Jeb Bush’s opinion piece first printed in The Wall Street Journal. This op-ed by Jeb Bush and Joe Lonsdale about how Democrat lawfare against Donald Trump and Elon Musk might destroy the country is written in way too nice a manner‚ but still worth reading: https://t.co/HdfGRSwYul — Mollie (@MZHemingway) February 23‚ 2024 They want to bankrupt Trump- even (late) Jeb Bush is against this! pic.twitter.com/pVzAwtHW3c — Jack Straw (@JackStr42679640) February 23‚ 2024 Fox News provided the latest update on the New York City Ruling: Trump attorneys had asked Engoron to delay enforcement of the payment by 30 days to allow time for an “orderly post-judgement process‚” which was denied Thursday afternoon.

Republican-Led House Passes Legislation That Would Ban Pride Flags In Public Schools

The Tennessee House of Representatives passed legislation that would largely ban pride flags from being displayed in public schools. The GOP-controlled House approved House Bill 1605 by a 70-24 vote. The Tennessee House has passed a bill that will ban pride flags in classrooms. The Senate could vote on it as soon as next week and it’s expected to pass. TN Democrats of course opposed this bill and some even said it made them proud to see pride flags in classrooms. pic.twitter.com/6RnFdaOXuc — Robby Starbuck (@robbystarbuck) February 27‚ 2024 Fox News reports: The bill defines “displaying” a flag by a school or employee as exhibiting or placing the item “anywhere students may see the object.” The measure would allow certain flags to be displayed‚ with exceptions for some scenarios. Approved flags include the U.S. flag‚ the Tennessee flag‚ flags considered protected historical items under state law‚ as well as flags of Native American tribes‚ local governments’ armed forces and prisoners of war or those missing in action‚ other countries and their local governments‚ colleges or universities or the schools themselves. Other flags could be temporarily displayed as part of a “bona fide” course curriculum. Certain groups allowed to use school buildings may also show their flags while using the grounds under the bill. The legislation would enforce the ban by relying on lawsuits by parents or guardians of students who attend‚ or are eligible to attend‚ public school in the district in question. The lawsuits could challenge the display of flags by a school‚ employee or its agents that would not fall under the proposed criteria for which flags would be allowed in classrooms. Tennessee House passes bill banning most pride flag displays in public classrooms https://t.co/XbAcFOMShA — John Solomon (@jsolomonReports) February 27‚ 2024 From The Tennessean: The bill‚ sponsored by Rep. Gino Bulso‚ R-Brentwood‚ would prohibit the display of any flags that “represent a political viewpoint‚ including but not limited to‚ a partisan‚ racial‚ sexual orientation‚ gender‚ or other ideological viewpoint.” A companion bill could be up for a final vote in the Senate as early as Thursday‚ having passed the Senate Education in a 5 to 4 vote last week. “Do parents have the right to instill values in their own children that they agree with?” Bulso asked during House debate on Monday. “If you have parents across the state who want to instill in their children values represented by the pride flag‚ they are certainly entitled to do that. On the other hand‚ if you have parents who want to instill values in their children that are not consistent with the values represented by the pride flag‚ they have the ability to do that.” “Everyone is entitled to mutual respect. Everyone is entitled to mutual dignity. Everyone is entitled to tolerance‚” Bulso said. “What this bill does is it preserves tolerance across the board for all parents and all school children.” Bulso has objected to the display of the pride flag and the “set of values” it represents‚ saying it represents elevation of “same-sex marriage to the same status of traditional marriage.” WKRN News 2 reports: Read HB 1605 HERE.
