Stelter Acknowledges Anti-Semitism At Columbia‚ Urges No Judgement

Former CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter returned to the network on Monday’s CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip to acknowledge that while there have been insistences of anti-Semitism among the Columbia campers‚ “we should try to remain as free of judgment of the students as we can” because he‚ his fellow panelists‚ and most of his viewers used to be students as well. Stelter was responding to National Review’s Reihan Salam‚ who took a radically different approach‚ “When you look at the Columbia campus‚ when you look at the UCLA campus and a number of other campuses‚ what you have is really violence‚ intimidation‚ harassment that has become really systematic and really quite terrifying.”     Not only did Salam go after the students‚ he also condemned the feckless school administration and the professors who support the students: If you're someone who's at home and you're watching this unfold‚ then I think that you're thinking a lot about our supposedly elite institutions‚ institutions that are meant to lead our society‚ that are meant to be exemplars of knowledge and truth seeking‚ instead descending into this chaos because you have university leaderships that do not have backbone‚ that have not actually demonstrated real viewpoint neutrality. You have faculty members at Columbia who are cheering on students who are‚ again‚ just harassing‚ intimidating‚ threatening other students.” This did not sit well with Phillip‚ who tried to divide the demonstrators into good guys and bad guys and contended that crackdown efforts are also targeting the former‚ “I do want to -- I mean‚ what is happening at Columbia‚ I mean‚ we have a little bit more visibility there. But there is a sense in which‚ now‚ and I think this is part of the point we were trying to illustrate‚ is that there are a lot of protesters who are doing none of those things that you just described and they're still being dragged off of the campus and put in handcuffs. So‚ both things are happening at the same time.” Illegal trespassing and encampment is still illegal‚ even if you're not being violent or chanting anti-Semitic slogans. Nevertheless‚  Stelter concurred‚ “This is happening across the country. And we're not hearing about all these other campuses where this is happening at the same time. I think it's right to criticize university leadership‚ but I think we should try to remain as free of judgment of the students as we can because many of us were students a long time ago. Students‚ it's a time for education. Education can be learned in a very hard way. Some of these students are getting a very hard‚ but very real education.” Two things. First‚ the idea that college students should be free of judgment because they’re young and prone to make bad choices should only go so far. The idea that mass murder is wrong should not be something that a 20-something-year-old adult‚ who happens to be college student‚ needs to learn. Second‚ Stelter ignored Salam’s vital point about the faculty’s role in this. It’s one thing to say students should be better educated‚ but when the educators praise October 7‚ the education itself becomes the problem. Stelter continued by claiming most demonstrators are just honest‚ upstanding people‚ and we need more like them‚ “I don't think these young people mostly are seeking global media attention. Some definitely are‚ by the way. Some definitely are. And there have been some hateful slogans chanted. But there are a lot of students now caught up in this who are not seeking that attention‚ who are just with their classmates. And‚ by the way‚ Bill Maher's right when he says that‚ you know‚ there's some narcissism that comes with activism. But I think as a country‚ we're better off with more protests‚ not less‚ as long as the safety concerns are acknowledged.” No‚ we’d be better off with better protests‚ not more. Here is a transcript for the April 29 show: CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip 4/29/2024 10:13 PM ET REIHAN SALAM: When you look at the Columbia campus‚ when you look at the UCLA campus and a number of other campuses‚ what you have is really violence‚ intimidation‚ harassment that has become really systematic and really quite terrifying. And if you're someone who's at home and you're watching this unfold‚ then I think that you're thinking a lot about our supposedly elite institutions‚ institutions that are meant to lead our society‚ that are meant to be exemplars of knowledge and truth seeking‚ instead descending into this chaos because you have university leaderships that do not have backbone‚ that have not actually demonstrated real viewpoint neutrality. You have faculty members at Columbia who are cheering on students who are‚ again‚ just harassing‚ intimidating‚ threatening other students. ABBY PHILLIP: I do want to -- I mean‚ what is happening at Columbia‚ I mean‚ we have a little bit more visibility there. But there is a sense in which‚ now‚ and I think this is part of the point we were trying to illustrate‚ is that there are a lot of protesters who are doing none of those things that you just described. BRIAN STELTER: That's right. PHILLIP: And they're still being dragged off of the campus and put in handcuffs. So‚ both things are happening at the same time. STELTER: This is happening across the country. And we're not hearing about all these other campuses where this is happening at the same time. I think it's right to criticize university leadership‚ but I think we should try to remain as free of judgment of the students as we can because many of us were students a long time ago. Students‚ it's a time for education. Education can be learned in a very hard way. Some of these students are getting a very hard‚ but very real education. I don't think these young people mostly are seeking global media attention. But I think as a country‚ we're better off with more protests‚ not less‚ as long as the safety concerns are acknowledged.

Why would anyone trust the new AI Safety and Security Board&;#63;

Why would anyone trust the new AI Safety and Security Board&;#63;

Today‚ most techies accept full-blown wokeness as long as they get to keep their hands on the controls. And most wokies accept technologization so long as they run the controls. This is the circular logic behind the Department of Homeland Security’s new AI Safety and Security Board. Remember when Elon Musk renamed X’s discredited trust and safety team to just “safety”&;#63; The new Woke Borg expansion pack installed by DHS is the Terminator of trust gaps. To begin with‚ this is the bloated bureaucratic monstrosity run by Alejandro Mayorkas‚ whose botched impeachment amid the manufactured border crisis should have led to his swift dismissal. It’s hard to imagine which Americans bothered by his border performance would trust him to assemble an elite team to call the shots on how to automate our homeland security. But it’s almost as tricky to figure out who among those elites believes Mayorkas is dedicated to our nation’s security‚ automated or otherwise. If you were invited onto this board‚ what would you think its purpose really is&;#63; Their arrival on the crowded scene of the new AI administrative state is proof that America is losing what Joe Biden calls “the battle for the soul of the nation.” The answer is suggested by who made the cut. There’s Sam Altman‚ the sociopathic megalomaniac running OpenAI; Sundar Pichai‚ the man who turned Google into an also-ran company coasting on woke doodles and the fumes of prior innovations; and less bold-faced names who deserve a moment under the microscope: Fei-Fei Li‚ co-director of Stanford’s Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Institute‚ got her start with a Soros fellowship and swiftly rose up the academic ranks‚ cycling through top positions at Google Cloud when the company linked up with the Defense Department and landing a gig on Twitter’s board before Musk bid it bye-bye. With a coauthor‚ she warned that “AI’s influence continues to grow‚ but representation and inclusion of a diversity of researchers in the field does not‚” demanding “structures that will support long-term‚ positive changes” from “early education… to the existing structures of power within academia‚ work cultures among current AI researchers‚ and gatekeeping functions of research publishing‚ to name a few levers of change.” Alexandra Reeve Givens is the president and CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology‚ a Beltway and Brussels-based international organization that boasts on its U.S. board one Katherine Maher‚ the NPR CEO recently revealed by Christopher Rufo to be a woke color revolutionary on loan‚ so to speak‚ from the intelligence community. Maya Wiley‚ president and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights‚ still holds her position as senior vice president for social justice at the New School. She founded and ran the Center for Social Inclusion‚ a project bent on dismantling structural racism‚ and won the endorsement of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in her pandemic-era bid for New York City mayor. And then there’s Nicol Turner Lee‚ senior fellow and director of the Brookings Institution’s Center for Technology Innovation. According to her Brookings bio‚ Lee “researches public policy designed to enable equitable access to technology across the U.S. and to harness its power to create change in communities across the world.” Brookings calls her “an expert on the intersection of race‚ wealth‚ and technology within the context of civic engagement‚ criminal justice‚ and economic development‚” noting her previous role as vice president of the Multicultural Media‚ Telecom and Internet Council‚ “a national non-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving equal opportunity and civil rights in the mass media‚ telecommunications‚ and broadband industries.” What do all these people and qualifications have to do with protecting our homeland security‚ you ask&;#63; While these teched-up wokies love to insist their iron fist is the only way to hold America together under the digital attack of foreign enemies trying to divide us‚ the reality is that America’s security is more seriously imperiled by their insistence on “reimagining” our form of government away from its constitutional origins and toward a compulsory social justice social credit system built to transform all Americans into people like them. Such a system thrills to the opportunity to onboard dozens of millions of “newcomers” from south of the border‚ people with the least attachment to their country of recent arrival and the least resources to resist their terraforming into the Woke Borg’s administrative apparatus. It’s a system where those who oppose its new form of rule by people who can’t be voted in or out are reclassified from patriotic citizens into “domestic extremists.” It’s one where technological innovation is nerfed and astroturfed to ensure that anyone who uses it is catechized by default into the worship of justice as woke leftists define it and the worship of the woke bots built to govern in the place of any humans who refuse to comply. The one thing you can “trust” this crowd to do is elevate the safety and security of their un-American new priestly caste to a place where the popular will cannot so much as fleck their screens. Their arrival on the increasingly crowded scene of the new AI administrative state is proof positive that America is losing what Joe Biden calls “the battle for the soul of the nation.”

Commentary: Many of the pro-Hamas protesters on college campuses clearly do not believe in free speech

I believe in free speech. That means I believe that students (or whoever) should be allowed to peacefully gather in public spaces to hold signs‚ chant dumb slogans‚ or otherwise make their beliefs known‚ even if those beliefs are in support of murderous religious fundamentalist war criminals like Hamas. I‚ in return‚ should be free to peacefully tell these people that they are useful idiots for murderers and cowards and are defending people who hate everything they stand for and who would kill them given half the chance. One principle that's a necessary element of free speech is that at the end of this conversation‚ both sides have to be allowed to walk away while still in disagreement and live their lives without impediment. The failure to understand or accept this principle runs rampant on the modern left‚ and it is why many of these protesters find themselves facing arrest and/or suspension from their universities today. These days I find myself disagreeing quite strenuously with people on both sides of the political aisle on a pretty frequent basis. Although I often experience dismay when wrong-headed beliefs take hold on one side or the other‚ the one thing that really frightens me these days is that many liberals seem to be incapable of handling the fact that people disagree with them. Certainly some on the right also struggle with letting political opponents live their lives in peace‚ but it's a problem that's objectively worse on the left. For instance‚ I do not agree that the 2020 election was stolen. At the time the election happened and in the weeks that followed afterward‚ I chased down all the claims to that effect and found them all to be without merit. Many on the right strenuously disagree with me about that‚ which is fine. No one on the right has tried to get me fired or kicked off social media for believing the way I do‚ or has sat in the middle of the road to try to prevent me from catching a flight because of what I believe. In return‚ I don't think that people who do believe the election was stolen should be kicked off social media‚ or fired‚ or otherwise silenced. In contrast‚ when I have disagreed with liberals (about‚ for example‚ whether COVID-19 had a natural origin‚ or whether children should be given unproven‚ life-altering medical treatments in response to potentially transient gender confusion)‚ I am immediately confronted by people who claim that my opinion is harmful‚ is dangerous‚ or somehow represents actual violence. Our recent history is replete with examples of liberals who successfully prevailed upon social media companies in particular to silence certain viewpoints they disagreed with in the name of combatting &;quot;misinformation.&;quot; For too many liberals‚ it is not enough that they be allowed to speak their opinion freely. You must accept their opinion as correct‚ and if you do not‚ they will hound you and interfere with your life‚ often in illegal ways‚ until you stop expressing a contrary opinion. This mindset is not the mindset of a person who believes in free speech. If the pro-Hamas loons who are currently occupying college campuses allowed people to continue to live their lives around their protests‚ no one would be objecting to their presence right now. As long as they allowed school administrators to continue to do their jobs‚ and students who either disagreed with their protest or were indifferent to it to peacefully attend classes‚ they would be on solid ground. But it isn't enough for them‚ as for many liberals‚ that their voices be heard. Their voices must win‚ and if you don't accept that‚ they will make you pay by shutting down the ability of these institutions to do their jobs. They will block entrances to classrooms and monopolize public spaces. They will physically prevent students who disagree with them from participating in campus activities. They will trespass into private faculty areas in an attempt to bully administrators. And they will try to exclude all but fellow protesters from public areas that they claim. In the larger world‚ they will sit in traffic and falsely imprison thousands of innocent people who are just trying to get to work if they do not get their way. People who believe in free speech believe that everyone should be allowed a reasonable opportunity to state their own viewpoint and that at the end of that process‚ everyone should be free to walk away‚ still in disagreement. Many of the protesters we have seen in the last two weeks do not. They don't believe in free speech — just their own speech.

Flight from Dallas to Tokyo canceled after police show up at a hotel party where the pilot was drinking and being disruptive

A flight from Texas to Japan was canceled after the pilot was questioned by the police for rowdy behavior after drinking at an all-night party in his hotel‚ according to the New York Post.Japan Airlines made the call to cancel the flight last Wednesday to check on the mental and physical status of the 49-year-old captain. Consequently‚ the 157 passengers who had bought tickets were forced to transfer to another flight.The pilot — who has not yet been identified — had dinner in Dallas with other crew members around 6:00 p.m. After the dinner‚ he partied in both the hotel lounge and his room‚ according to a second report.A hotel employee asked the partying group to be quiet around 2:00 a.m. before calling the police after concerns about the pilot's speech and behavior. The employee described the pilot as being disruptive.Business Insider reported that according to statement provided by the airline‚ the authorities questioned the pilot and warned him not to cause any more problems in the hotel.The airline's decision to cancel the Tokyo-bound flight stemmed from concerns over the captain's mental and physical well-being. The airline also said that it was unable to find a replacement pilot for the Wednesday morning flight‚ which is why all the passengers were forced to find another flight to their destination.While it is not a common occurrence‚ there have been several instances of pilots showing up for work under the influence. In March‚ a Delta Airlines captain came to work under the influence‚ along with a half-empty bottle of Jagermeister in his bag that was sent through an X-ray screener.He was subsequently sentenced to 10 months in prison for the stunt.The Federal Aviation Administration states that a pilot should avoid all alcohol while preparing to fly a plane. It also suggests pilots wait a full 24 hours between their last drink of alcohol and flying an aircraft.&;quot;Use good judgment‚&;quot; the FAA states. &;quot;Your life and the lives of your passengers are at risk if you drink and fly. Keep in mind that regulations alone are no guarantee that problems won’t occur. It is far more important for pilots to understand the negative effects of alcohol and its deadly impact on flight safety.&;quot;Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Giant screen erected at UCLA confronts student radicals nonstop with grisly footage of Hamas' Oct. 7 atrocities

Anti-Israel protesters at the University of California‚ Los Angeles‚ secured endorsements from the terrorist organizations Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine last week with their genocidal rhetoric‚ violent outbursts‚ and denunciations of Israel. Counterprotesters have since helped the anti-Israel radicals understand precisely who they have gotten into bed with. An anonymous group installed a large screen outside UCLA's Kaplan Hall over the weekend‚ where multitudes of pro-Hamas radicals have been encamped since Thursday. The screen — which is gated off and flanked by signs that read‚ &;quot;Hamas‚ free the hostages&;quot; — has apparently been playing footage of the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks on loop‚ confronting protesters with the reality of the atrocities they might otherwise continue to downplay‚ deny‚ or celebrate. The individuals who erected the screen would not give their names on account of safety concerns‚ according to TheWrap. &;quot;Israel is an ally to America. How dare you live in America and stand with a known terrorist organization&;#63;&;quot; one of the anti-terrorism protesters near the screen said in a declaration captured by TheWrap. &;quot;UCLA has prioritized a political agenda over the safety of their students. I'm concerned for my safety and everyone here on campus‚ both sides. We're trying to educate people on what actually happened.&;quot; The filmic reminder of the need to eliminate Hamas coincided with a pro-Israel counterprotest at UCLA‚ which the Los Angeles Times confirmed was organized by the nonprofit Israeli-American Council. The IAC said in a statement‚ &;quot;The recent escalating antisemitic events at US universities‚ have hit close to home for many of us. It is painful and troubling to see our collective history repeat itself‚ as it puts both our Jewish community and our nation's security at risk. From the burning of flags‚ to calls for violence against Jews and the undermining of Israel's existence‚ these incidents must not occur at any university‚ and no student should fear for their safety because of their identity.&;quot; A GoFundMe campaign allegedly raised nearly $90‚000 for the counterprotest‚ but Elan Carr‚ head of the IAC‚ indicated that it was not affiliated with his organization. Nathan Mo wrote on the crowdfunding page‚ &;quot;Thank you to everyone that donated&;#33; Today was a monumental success&;#33; The energy today was electric and we danced and celebrated Israel in the faces of those that call for our demise and that is the best type of resistance that we can possibly show.&;quot; According to the Daily Bruin‚ the counterprotest originally received a permit to use the screen and loudspeakers; however‚ it continued playing the videos through the night Sunday and into Monday morning. &;quot;The big screen on the east lawn of Royce Quad is not permitted‚ and there are no current plans to remove it‚&;quot; said UCLA spokesman Ricardo Vazquez. A graduate student named Kai‚ from the pro-Hamas camp‚ told TheWrap‚ &;quot;A bunch of Zionist counter-protesters — most of which are not students — had a big fundraiser and brought this screen and set it up. They're trying to basically blast us with noise and disrupt us.&;quot; The &;quot;noise&;quot; Kai was referencing included the sounds of Hamas terrorists gunning down unarmed civilians and their subsequent boasting over body counts. The visuals Kai apparently found disruptive included footage of Israeli children shot up and scattered across bloody floors by the very group that student protesters now want shielded with a ceasefire. Kai added‚ &;quot;They set up a whole scene and there were a bunch of agitators trying to come and harass students here and stir things up.&;quot; The pro-Hamas encampment in the quad reportedly does not have a permit for the protest. — (@) The anti-terrorism protesters across the quad expressed outrage that the radicals were being permitted to ruin the remainder of the spring semester without consequence. They suggested further that the administration has been playing favorites‚ asking them to turn the volume down on the massacre footage but letting off the radicals for various violent outbursts. Footage shared to X appears to show a pro-Hamas protester viciously assaulting an anti-terrorism protester and threatening him with a taser while another radical swoops in to steal his sign. WOMAN TASES COUNTER PROTESTOR AT UCLA — (@) According to the campus paper‚ faculty members at the university‚ led by Faculty for Justice in Palestine‚ have rallied in solidarity with the pro-Hamas protesters. However‚ not all have fully jumped on board. Dov Waxman‚ a UCLA professor and the director of the university's Nazarian Center sympathetic to the protesters but unwilling to join them‚ noted on X‚ &;quot;Students and faculty demonstrating in support of Palestinians shouldn't ignore the fact that the organizers of these demonstrations are‚ in many cases‚ ideologically committed to eradicating Israel and expelling Israeli Jews‚ supportive of violence against Israeli civilians‚ and willing to ignore or even justify Hamas' strategy of sacrificing Palestinian civilians for their political ends.&;quot; Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Judge holds Trump in contempt‚ claims he violated gag order

Judge holds Trump in contempt‚ claims he violated gag order

On Tuesday morning‚ acting Justice Juan Merchan held Donald Trump in contempt‚ claiming he violated his gag order by sharing posts on social media‚ according to live updates from the courtroom. Trump faces fines of $1‚000 for each violation.Merchan previously placed a gag order on the former president‚ prohibiting him from making public comments about anyone involved in the trial and their family members. Prior to going to trial‚ Trump’s legal team made multiple attempts to overturn the restrictive order; all attempts were denied.Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) accused Trump of violating the order‚ referring to 10 social media posts published on Truth Social. In one of the posts‚ Trump mentions “two sleazebags‚” which the prosecution argued referred to former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and porn actress Stormy Daniels. Both are expected to testify against Trump in the New York criminal trial.In a court filing last week‚ Bragg urged the judge to remind Trump that he could face jail time for violating the gag order. Bragg also requested that the former president be held in contempt and forced to pay $1‚000 per post. During last Tuesday’s trial‚ prosecutor Chris Conroy claimed that the social media posts “pose[d] a very real threat” to the court’s proceedings by allegedly attacking the witness’ “credibility.”Merchan and Todd Blanche‚ Trump’s lawyer‚ got into a somewhat heated exchange over whether Trump violated the order. Blanche contended that Trump’s posts had nothing to do with the case and were responses to political attacks from Cohen and Daniels. Trump and his legal team have repeatedly mentioned that neither witness has been prohibited from making disparaging comments about Trump‚ the case against him‚ or his political campaign. “President Trump is allowed to respond to political attacks‚” Blanche told Merchan last week.Merchan demanded Blanche provide specific examples of comments made by Cohen and Daniels that Trump was replying to in his social media posts. Blanche responded to the request by stating the two had made repeated remarks and had recently “ramped up their political attacks and their attacks on him as a candidate as well.”The judge was reportedly unsatisfied with Blanche’s reply and asked for precise examples again. “What I do see is I keep asking you over and over again for a specific answer‚ and I’m not getting an answer‚” Merchan told Blanche. “I’ve asked you eight or nine times to show me the exact post he was responding to. You’ve been unable to do that even once.”Merchan warned Blanche that he was “losing all credibility with the court.”Blanche maintained that Trump is “being very careful to comply” with Merchan’s order.Last week‚ Trump posted on Truth Social‚ “We have a Rigged Judge‚ who is working for the Democrat Party and refuses to terminate this ‘case‚’ which should have never been brought by Soft on Crime Alvin Bragg. Judge Merchan should [be] immediately removed‚ and the Appellate Courts have to take over.”The trial continued Thursday morning‚ with the prosecution claiming that Trump violated the gag order several more times over the past few days. During a news interview earlier in the week‚ Trump stated that the jury pool consisted of 95% Democrats. According to the prosecution‚ these comments also violated the judge’s order.Additionally‚ Trump referred to witness and former tabloid publisher David Pecker as “nice” on Thursday morning.Conroy argued‚ “This is a message to Pecker. Be nice. It’s a message to others.”On Tuesday‚ the judge decided to side with the prosecution‚ declaring that Trump violated his gag order in multiple instances presented. As a result of Merchan’s latest ruling‚ Trump will have to pay $1‚000 each for nine violations. He was also ordered to remove the “offending posts” from Truth Social‚ as well as two “offending posts” from his campaign website.“THEREFORE‚ Defendant is hereby warned that the Court will not tolerate continued willful violations of its lawful orders and that if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances‚ it will impose an incarceratory punishment‚” Merchan’s order read.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Pastor goes viral with fiery message about Trump's 'God Bless the USA' Bible: 'You can get mad if you want to'

A North Carolina pastor is going viral on social media for slamming the Donald Trump-endorsed &;quot;God Bless the USA&;quot; Bible. In March‚ Trump began promoting the &;quot;God Bless the USA&;quot; Bible for $60. The Bible includes a copy of the U.S. Constitution‚ the Bill of Rights‚ the Declaration of Independence‚ the Pledge of Allegiance‚ and the chorus to Lee Greenwood's song &;quot;God Bless the USA.&;quot; The Bible uses the King James Version translation.In a now-viral sermon this month‚ Pastor Loran Livingston of Central Church in Charlotte blasted the &;quot;disgusting&;quot; and &;quot;blasphemous&;quot; Bible.Livingston invoked the Trump-endorsed Bible while teaching on the importance of prayer and Bible-reading in a Christian's life‚ using the Trump Bible as a negative example of Christians who believe that political engagement is a &;quot;spiritual responsibility.&;quot;&;quot;When you don’t read and pray. You‚ you say‚ 'Wow‚ there’s a Bible out now that includes the Constitution and the Bill of Rights&;#33; Isn’t that wonderful&;#63;&;#33;' No‚ no. It’s disgusting&;#33; It’s blasphemous&;#33; It’s a ploy&;#33;&;quot; Livingston explained.There is nothing &;quot;encouraging&;quot; about the Trump Bible‚ the pastor said‚ because the Gospel of Jesus Christ &;quot;is not an American gospel.&;quot;Moreover‚ Livingston said the problem with the Bible is that its creator took man-made documents that focus on man and spliced it together with the &;quot;Word of God‚&;quot; which focuses on God.&;quot;Now you can get mad if you want to‚ but I’m going to tell you something: If you glory in that kind of thing‚ you don’t have a prayer life‚&;quot; Livingston added. &;quot;If you glory in that kind of political mess‚ you do not know what the Word of God says.&;quot;(The relevant portion begins around the 69 minute-mark): How Far Behind are You Following&;#63; - April 14‚ 2024 10:30 am - #centralchurchnc Live Stream www.youtube.com But make no mistake about it: Livingston is no liberal.In fact‚ just prior to slamming the Trump-endorsed Bible‚ Livingston condemned the LGBTQ movement and abortion as antithetical to the Christian life.Meanwhile‚ Livingston is not the first Christian to raise concerns about the Trump-endorsed Bible. Andrew Walker‚ a professor at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary‚ wrote in an essay after Trump began promoting the Bible that it should have never been made.&;quot;To put matters bluntly‚ a Bible like this should never have been made‚&;quot; Walker said. &;quot;Trump peddling a patriotic Bible is gimmicky civil religion. Even if Bibles like this are a well-worn gimmick by now‚ the Bible is no prop‚ and Christians would do well to resist the syncretistic ploy of melding church and state in this way.&;quot;Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Laser transmission hits Earth from 140 million miles away — but it's not aliens

Earth recently received a laser transmission from a record-breaking 140 million miles away. The development could present major consequences for the future of space travel‚ according to a recent report by NASA.While this transmission seems like it could be extraterrestrial in origin‚ it is not. The transmission was sent from NASA's Psyche spacecraft‚ which is located around 1.5 times the distance between Earth and the Sun.This breakthrough was achieved by using a Psyche feature called Deep Space Optical Communications‚ per the New York Post. The primary objective of the project is to investigate the metal asteroid known as 16 Psyche in the hopes of discovering gems. The asteroid is expected to be around four billion miles away.Meera Srinivasan — the project's operations lead at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California — said: &;quot;We downlinked about 10 minutes of duplicated spacecraft data during a pass on April 8.&;quot;“Until then‚ we’d been sending test and diagnostic data in our downlinks from Psyche. This represents a significant milestone for the project by showing how optical communications can interface with a spacecraft’s radio frequency comms system.”The Post mentioned that NASA wanted to demonstrate the potential for laser communications to be carried out across large distances in space‚ which is 10 to 100 times what is currently available.The development of this technology could have a large impact on the future of human space travel.NASA stated:NASA’s optical communications demonstration has shown that it can transmit test data at a maximum rate of 267 megabits per second (Mbps) from the flight laser transceiver’s near-infrared downlink laser — a bit rate comparable to broadband internet download speeds.That was achieved on Dec. 11‚ 2023‚ when the experiment beamed a 15-second ultra-high-definition video to Earth from 19 million miles away (31 million kilometers‚ or about 80 times the Earth-Moon distance). The video‚ along with other test data‚ including digital versions of Arizona State University’s Psyche Inspired artwork‚ had been loaded onto the flight laser transceiver before Psyche launched last year.The Psyche spacecraft is expected to move by Mars — humanity's next great mission — in 2026‚ and then it will continue its journey to its final destination‚ 16 Psyche‚ by 2029.The spacecraft will ultimately aim to map out the rest of the surrounding region and possibly discover precious metals on 16 Psyche.
