Jon Karl Laughs When Both His Experts Dismiss GOP's Biden Impeachment Inquiry

ABC This Week co-host Jonathan Karl has written three books attacking Donald Trump‚ but he clearly has nothing in the works on the Biden family influence-peddling business. On his Sunday show‚ he spent five minutes discussing legal troubles for Trump‚ and only one minute at the end demanding his guests agree the House Republicans are getting nowhere in their impeachment inquiry. When he got the answers he wanted‚ Karl laughed. Once again‚ ABC hid the fact that their Democrat guest was appointed as a federal prosecutor by President Obama‚ but the Trump guest worked for Trump. "To help us make sense of it all‚ we brought in some of our great legal minds‚ Preet Bharara‚ former U.S. Attorney for the state of New York‚ and Sarah Isgur‚ a former attorney under the Trump administration." This time‚ they didn't mention that Isgur now writes for The Dispatch‚ a passionately anti-Trump website. Karl told his guests they wouldn't have much time to comment on his contention that it “seems like Republicans are not getting anywhere‚ to say the least‚ in their impeachment efforts." On #ThisWeek‚ @JonKarl dismisses relevance of Hunter Biden‚ “seems like Republicans are not getting anywhere to say the least in their impeachment efforts.” Guests agree. Preet Bharara: “It’s a sideshow. It doesn’t matter‚ it’s a spectacle and I think we should move on.” pic.twitter.com/RpjlXdhNHc — Brent Baker 🇺🇦 🇮🇱 (@BrentHBaker) March 3‚ 2024 When you're a Democrat‚ it's natural to say the Republicans aren't getting anywhere‚ but it was a closed hearing‚ so does Jon Karl actually know? KARL: Very quickly to both of you‚ Hunter Biden was on Capitol Hill testifying behind closed doors didn't take the Fifth Amendment even though he's facing multiple indictments. What's the bottom line on that case? Seems like Republicans are not getting anywhere to say the least in their impeachment efforts. Sarah? ISGUR: They have not found what they need here‚ you know‚ it's sort of like with the Stormy Daniels hush money payment. Partisans on each side want everything they don't like to be illegal. Here we do have evidence of influence peddling‚ but that's not a crime if Joe Biden wasn't president or wasn't vice president when it happened‚ and here you have Hunter Biden looking very confident that what he did might have been slimy‚ but it wasn't illegal‚ and it doesn't implicate his father. Republicans have really yet to find what they need to move forward. BHARARA: It’s a sideshow. It doesn’t matter‚ it’s a spectacle and I think we should move on. [Karl laughs] Back in 2022‚ Jon Karl suggested that suddenly "massive investigations" were a waste of time (as opposed to the Pelosi-Picked Panel on January 6). He complained to Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin: “I'm hearing a lot‚ though‚ of talk about investigations‚ investigations into Hunter Biden‚ FBI‚ all things Anthony Fauci‚ Republicans talking about going‚ you know‚ all in if they take control of particularly the House‚” Karl whined. “Is that really what you're campaigning on to have massive investigations?” Most national journalists won't investigate the Bidens‚ and then they tell the Republicans they are pathetic and not getting anywhere when they try to do what the journalists refuse to do.

ICYMI: Jacqui Heinrich Grills Flustered KJP Over the Biden Border Crisis

ICYMI: Jacqui Heinrich Grills Flustered KJP Over the Biden Border Crisis

In a Friday White House press briefing that perhaps flew under the radar‚ Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich threw down with a flustered Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over the ongoing Biden border crisis‚ including her pointing out the President’s hesitation to act via executive order on the border was curious given his penchant to use the pen on issues like student loans. Heinrich cut right to the case: “Is the administration coming around to the idea that physical border barriers work?” As Heinrich’s colleague Bill Melugin tweeted‚ Jean-Pierre was clearly not ready: “Can you say more? Where is this — what do you mean? Where’s this coming from?” ICYMI -- JACQUI TIME (from Friday): “Is the administration coming around to the idea that physical border barriers work?” KJP: “Can you say more? Where is this — what do you mean? Where’s this coming from?”@JacquiHeinrich: “Well‚ it’s been six weeks since you guys won the… pic.twitter.com/haSAGwJVl7 — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) March 4‚ 2024 Heinrich then explained: “[I]t’s been six weeks since you guys won the Supreme Court case that would have allowed you to remove razor wire at the Texas border that you guys argued was — there’s an emergency‚ immediate need to take down‚ but it’s still up.” Asked why that’s the case‚ a flat-footed Jean-Pierre punted to the Department of Homeland Security‚ insisting “I just don’t have anything for you on that.” The back-and-forth then shifted to executive action and whether he’d move to undo executive orders he signed from early in his administration “that largely loosened immigration policy” (click “expand”): HEINRICH: And the President said at the border yesterday that it’s long past time to act...[T]he President took 94 or so executive actions in his first 100 days that largely loosened immigration policy. One of those was narrowing who ICE could remove and the administration‚ as of yesterday‚ I believe‚ is now calling on sanctuary cities to cooperate with ICE. So‚ why doesn’t the President act like he said it’s time to do and start undoing some of those policies that he put in place right when he got into office? JEAN-PIERRE: So‚ I think a couple of things. On — since day one‚ the President took action. He did. He put forth a comprehensive immigration policy and he read — he did that because he understood what was happening — right — he understood that the immigration system was broken. He understood that we needed to take action and he did — three years and during those three years‚ Republicans got in the way. Anything — any resources — any additional resources that we asked for‚ they voted down. They didn’t want to move forward with it and so‚ the President tried to do the best that he can with what he was able to get and‚ you know‚ we get to a point at the end of the year where we start negotiating with Republicans and Democrats in the Senate‚ we come up with a piece of — piece of legislation‚ a proposal that is supported by the Department of — pardon me — the Border Patrol — right — union‚ that’s supported by U.S. Chamber of Commerce. I mean‚ we took action. We have taken action over and over and over again‚ and Republicans reject it. HEINRICH: It’s a comprehensive immigration — JEAN-PIERRE: They get in the way — HEINRICH: — overhaul versus narrow action that he could take to secure the border‚ improve the situation that we’re seeing ravaging communities. JEAN-PIERRE: But we — we took action at the end of this — at the end of last year‚ worked with Republicans in the Senate‚ Democrats in the Senate‚ came up with a bipartisan agreement that would actually make a difference. I mean‚ it’s Congress’s job to legislate. It is their job to legislate. Heinrich eventually had enough: “But you were never afraid of legal challenges with things like student loans. I mean‚ you’ve used executive orders when you wanted to.” Jean-Pierre countered Biden has “taken action over the last three years” but “Republicans [are] getting in the way” of making lasting changes. To this‚ Heinrich noted how‚ “in the meantime‚ while [the President’s] shaming people for not acting‚ he is also not acting.” Jean-Pierre lost it‚ declaring “[t]hat is so false” and Republicans need to answer “what’s the problem” with backing Biden’s policies. Okay‚ sure. At the other end of the spectrum‚ The Hill’s Niall Stanage blasted Jean-Pierre’s frequent briefing co-host John Kirby from the left‚ arguing “Israel is starving” Palestinians and‚ in turn‚ America is also starving them by supporting Jews. Despite the administration’s recent movements to throw Israel under the bus to appease pro-Hamas‚ pro-October 7 Arabs in Michigan‚ Kirby held firm (click “expand”): STANAGE: You’ve laid out now‚ a couple of times‚ the practical challenges that will be part of this airdrop or these airdrops? And I’m kind of curious about that‚ because those are risks that the United States now has to take on for itself‚ conducting those airdrops. The reason that those risks might fall to the United States is because Israel is starving those people. So‚ why are we still so supportive of Israel when it is the one that is creating the problem that the United States now has to try to ameliorate? KIRBY: Israel itself has tried to — to help with the delivery of humanitarian assistance. As I said‚ they tried airdrops themselves just a week or so ago‚ on their own accord. And we — STANAGE: So‚ why are so many people still starving? KIRBY: We — there — it’s a — it’s a warzone And they — and there’s — there’s nowhere else for them to go. It’s not like in some other con- — conflicts where they can — they can easily flee And — and let’s not forget how this started‚ okay? There’d be no need for airdrops if Hamas hadn’t chosen to break what was a ceasefire in place on the 6th of October‚ so let’s not forget how this — how this started. There is a need. Many people are in desperate need of food‚ water‚ medicine‚ and fuel and the United States was and remains and will continue to be the leading provider of humanitarian assistance to them and we’ll — we take that responsibility seriously. STANAGE: But also remain — continue to be the main supporter of the people who are causing that assistance to be necessary. KIRBY: We also know and recognize that Israel has a right to defend itself against a still-viable threat. Again‚ please‚ if you haven’t done it‚ I encourage you to go online and read the 2017 manifesto of Hamas. I know you’re smiling‚ but you should do it. Because if you don’t have any — STANAGE: [Inaudible]. KIRBY: Wait‚ let me finish. Let me finish. This is an organization that has military capabilities and has every intent of wiping Israel and the Israeli people off the map. That has to be unacceptable to everybody. Mr. Sinwar chose to start this war. There was a ceasefire in place; he broke it. And‚ moments later‚ Politico’s Eli Stokols appeared to imply last week’s deadly scene near an aid distribution in Gaza City was due to the U.S. halting funding of the United Nationals Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) over some of their workers having ties to Hamas. Kirby correctly dispensed with that narrative‚ seeming to suggest the issues with aid in Gaza has nothing to do with how the international concerns about actions from UNRWA employees. SCOTUS unanimously reverses Colorado court's decision to remove Trump from ballot

SCOTUS unanimously reverses Colorado court's decision to remove Trump from ballot

The Democrat-appointed justices on Colorado's Supreme Court ruled 4-3 in December that former President Donald Trump engaged in an insurrection on Jan. 6‚ is ineligible to be president‚ and cannot therefore appear on the ballot in the state. In the months since‚ Maine and Illinois have similarly disqualified the Republican front-runner‚ prompting Trump's legal team to file appeals. The U.S. Supreme Court issued a timely opinion Monday morning‚ one day ahead of the Republican primaries in Maine and Colorado: "Because the Constitution makes Congress‚ rather than the States‚ responsible for enforcing Section 3 against federal officeholders and candidates‚ we reverse." This decision will undoubtedly impact efforts in other states by activist groups to disenfranchise their fellow voters and spare President Joe Biden from facing his top rival in the upcoming election. Quick background Six petitioners backed by a Democrat-aligned group sued in September 2023 to have Trump removed from Colorado ballots. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington brought the case on behalf of the Colorado voters. CREW‚ a partisan activist group that fancies itself as a government watchdog‚ was optimized as an attack dog for the Democratic Party by Media Matters founder David Brock in advance of the 2016 election. The Colorado initiative was executed under CREW's current president Noah Bookbinder‚ up until recently a member of the Biden Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Advisory Council. According to the petitioners‚ Section 3 of the 14th Amendment concerning insurrection applies to the president‚ in this case Trump‚ and the Republican's actions on Jan. 6‚ 2021‚ qualified. Claiming it did "not reach these conclusions lightly‚" the state court's majority determined that Trump had "engaged in" insurrection; that Section 3 applies to the presidency; and that Trump's Jan. 6 speech at the Ellipse was not protected by the First Amendment. Blaze News previously noted that Trump's legal team‚ which appealed the ruling‚ has argued that: "Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment prohibits individuals only from holding office[.] ... It does not prevent anyone from running for office‚ or from being elected to office‚ because Congress can remove a section 3 disqualification at any time"; The Colorado Supreme Court violated the Electors Clause by "flouting the statutes governing presidential elections"; Trump did not engage in insurrection; Seciton 3 is inapplicable to the presidency; and Congress is the proper body to "resolve questions concerning a presidential candidate's eligibility‚" not a partisan state court. According to its Monday opinion per curiam‚ the U.S. Supreme Court evidently agrees with Trump's legal team on this final bullet. The high court puts Colorado in check The Supreme Court noted that Congress is empowered by the Constitution to pass "appropriate legislation" to "enforce" the Fourteenth Amendment but that states enjoy no such power in the case of national elections. "We conclude that States may disqualify persons holding or attempting to hold state office‚" wrote the court. "But States have no power under the Constitution to enforce Section 3 with respect to federal offices‚ especially the Presidency." "This can hardly come as a surprise‚ given that the substantive provisions of the Amendment 'embody significant limitations on state authority‚'" continued the high court. "Under the Amendment‚ States cannot abridge privileges or immunities‚ deprive persons of life‚ liberty‚ or property without due process‚ deny equal protection‚ or deny male inhabitants the right to vote. ... On the other hand‚ the Fourteenth Amendment grants new power to Congress to enforce the provisions of the Amendment against the States." All nine members of the court agreed that the Colorado Supreme Court's decision "cannot stand." Justice Amy Coney Barrett noted that the "Court has settled a politically charged issue in the volatile season of a Presidential election. ... For present purposes‚ our differences are far less important than our unanimity: All nine Justices agree on the outcome of this case. That is the message Americans should take home." Justices Sonia Sotomayor‚ Elena Kagan‚ and Ketanji Brown Jackson indicated in their concurring opinion that allowing Colorado to unilaterally remove a presidential candidate is unfit as a candidate in a national election would "create a chaotic state-by-state patchwork‚ at odds with our Nation's federalism principles." The liberal justices took issue‚ however‚ with the majority's announcement that a "disqualification for insurrection can occur only when Congress enacts a particular kind of legislation pursuant to Section 5 of the Fourteenth Amendment‚" noting that in doing so‚ "the majority shuts the door on other potential means of federal enforcement." NYC business owner illegally housed migrants in store’s basement‚ abandoned library: ‘Severe overcrowding’

A New York City business owner charged illegal migrants $300 per month to reside in his furniture store’s basement‚ a Bronx cellphone store‚ and an abandoned library‚ the New York Post reported Tuesday.Ebou Sarr‚ 47‚ told the news outlet that the New York Police Department shut down his hostile operations in January after they discovered he was allowing illegal West African migrants to reside in cramped and hazardous conditions.Sarr explained that he converted the Old Fordham Library in the Bronx into a makeshift shelter. According to a criminal complaint obtained by the Post‚ when police entered the location‚ Sarr stated‚ “I run it.”“I help these people because they have nowhere to go. Shelters won’t accept us. I have proof of residency from the mayor … I have a business up the street‚ but this is where I live‚” he reportedly said.As a result of the illegal operation‚ Sarr was charged with two counts of trespassing on the abandoned property.“It was a place that I think is empty‚ and it’s safe for us to put our people. We were trying to get the city to give us that library. It’s been there for so many years‚” Sarr told the Post. “Places like that‚ they can put the people in. Fix the place and put the people in there.”Sarr‚ who owns a South Richmond Hill furniture store‚ charged illegal migrants $300 per month to reside at one of his improvised hostiles. Police reported “severe overcrowding and hazardous fire trap conditions” inside the abandoned library and the basement of the furniture store. A third location‚ a Bronx cellphone store‚ had “hazardous life-threatening conditions‚” law enforcement said.Since the three locations lacked bathroom facilities‚ residents used showers at a nearby gym.Fallou Seye‚ 29‚ told the Post that “it was hard” to come up with the money to stay in the basement of the furniture store‚ a space he shared with 45 other people who were forced to share beds. “We had no bathroom; we had to go to Planet Fitness to take a shower‚” Seye explained. Sarr reportedly provided each of the migrants with one meal per day and paid for the migrants’ gym memberships to use the showers.According to Sarr‚ the rent money was a donation‚ and he never demanded more than the illegal migrants could afford. He also insisted that despite not getting permission to use the abandoned library‚ he did not break in either.Sarr told the Post that he plans to fight the trespassing charges and sue the NYPD.“We’ve lost a lot of money in that place because they took us out and didn’t give us a chance to get our properties‚” he stated. “The guys lost their stuff. It was safe and that’s why we chose that place. It’s a big building.”The news outlet reported that the now vacant makeshift hostiles are littered with garbage and reek of urine. Neighbors accused Sarr of “taking advantage” of the illegal migrants.“At least‚ if you want to take them and charge the money‚ let them live like human beings. I think he played with their mind‚” one neighbor told the Post.A nearby business owner told the news outlet that Sarr is “no good” and “a scammer.”“People can say whatever they want to say‚” Sarr responded. “They have their opinion. But the people that was with me wouldn’t say that.” Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Biden's impeached DHS secretary accuses Gov. Abbott of 'trying to wreak havoc'

Biden's impeached DHS secretary accuses Gov. Abbott of 'trying to wreak havoc'

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas lashed out Sunday at Gov. Greg Abbott‚ displacing blame over the illegal immigration crisis and accusing the governor of "trying to wreak havoc" across the nation. Mayorkas is apparently rankled by Abbott's refusal and that of other Republicans to accept the president's conveniently timed excuses concerning the crisis at the southern border. With an election around the corner and illegal immigration an increasingly pressing concern for Americans‚ Biden and elements of his administration have begun suggesting that the solution to the border crisis is primarily a matter for congressional lawmakers to tackle — especially now that Congress is run by Republicans. Mayorkas‚ who has overseen the unlawful entry of over 7 million foreign nationals into the country since January 2021 and was impeached last month for "willfully and systemically refus[ing] to comply with the immigration laws‚" continued to run with the administration's preferred narrative Sunday‚ telling CNN's "State of the Union" that "administrative action is no substitute for an enduring solution. ... Legislation is the enduring solution." Last month‚ the Biden White House was reportedly considering taking executive action on the border‚ including possibly restricting illegal aliens' ability to claim asylum once in the U.S. However‚ Mayorkas proved evasive Sunday when pressed about whether the administration would consider even a "Band-Aid" solution in the short term. Rather‚ the secretary intimated that his boss‚ who halted the construction of border wall in his first days in office‚ was more or less impotent to take meaningful action. "As a matter of fact‚ former President Trump tried to close the border‚ and it was enjoined in the courts and never saw the light of day‚" said Mayorkas. "The reality is that Congress needs to act‚ and President Biden said that Congress needs to get a spine." Abbott told CNN's "State of the Union" the previous week that Biden's suggestion that he needed Congress to take action at the border was "completely false." "The fact of the matter is‚ there are laws on the books passed by Congress of the United States right now that authorize the executive branch to deny illegal entry; if people get here illegally‚ to detain them; as well as to require the president and the presidential administration to build border barriers‚" continued Abbott. "The president is not using his executive authority to do any of those those things that Congress has already authorized." "The president doesn't need new laws. The president needs a backbone to make sure that he enforces the immigration laws that are already on the books‚" added Abbott. When presented with Abbott's comments‚ Mayorkas told CNN's Dana Bash‚ "Couldn't be more wrong‚ couldn't be more wrong." "This is coming from an individual who is purposefully refusing to coordinate‚ communicate‚ collaborate with other officials and trying to wreak havoc in other cities and states across the country‚" said Mayorkas‚ echoing accusations he leveled earlier this year. The DHS secretary appears to have been referencing Abbott's busing initiative‚ which presented Democrat-run sanctuary cities with a taste of what Texas and other borders states have long had to deal with. "That is not a model of governance‚ and he couldn't be more wrong‚" added Mayorkas. While Mayorkas accused Abbott of wreaking havoc‚ his department and the Biden administration have long fought to prevent Texas from securing its southern border. For instance‚ it was Mayorkas' department that penned a cease-and-desist letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in January concerning Texas' efforts to preclude foreign nationals from entering the country via Shelby Park in Eagle Pass. The Biden Department of Justice also attempted to prevent Texas from maintaining a floating barrier on the Rio Grande. Like Blaze News? Former NFL wide receiver Braylon Edwards made a potential lifesaving rescue of a senior citizen who was being beaten in the locker room of a Michigan YMCA over a disagreement.Edwards said he was in the locker room at the YMCA in Farmington Hills‚ Michigan‚ when he overheard a 25-year-old man and an 80-year-old man having an argument‚ which soon turned physical."I walk into the locker room after work‚ and basically‚ I hear about four rows behind me arguing about music and how it was being played too loud‚" Edwards told Click on Detroit. "So I’m not paying attention‚ and I was just minding my business."The former Cleveland Browns and New York Jets player added that once he heard a troubling sound‚ he decided to investigate."The noise escalates‚ and then you can hear some pushing and shoving‚ so you know what fighting sounds like‚ but once I hear a thud‚ that’s when I got up and turned around‚" Edwards continued. "Then I see the guy‚ for what I was thinking was reaching for a phone underneath the victim‚ grabs the back of the victim’s head by the hair‚ and he was about to slam it down on the counter."According to reports‚ the 25-year-old was beating the elderly man‚ with law enforcement officials telling Edwards that if he hadn't stepped in‚ the senior most likely would have died."If you hadn't stepped in at that critical moment‚ this man he could have been killed‚" reporter Shawn Ley told Edwards."I didn’t know it was that serious‚ I mean the victim probably had a serious concussion by nature‚ but it wasn’t until I talked to Detective Jacobs down in Farmington‚ who told me that if I didn’t step in ... but at the end of the day that’s what you do‚" Edwards explained. “LIFE SAVING MOVE”

On Friday morning‚ the heroic acts of Michigan legend Braylon Edwards saved a man’s life.

Here’s the story via @Local4News — (@) The unidentified 25-year-old initially fled on foot‚ causing police to direct local schools to go into lockdown procedures as a precaution until the suspect was found. The suspect was apprehended and remained in custody with no further updates from local outlets. The victim was recovering in a hospital‚ and Edwards said that he hoped to meet him once he was released."People go to work out‚ they have a good time‚ they live 80 years‚ and this isn't how they expect for something to maybe take their life‚" Edwards commented‚ stressing the need to protect elders. "My mom‚ my grandmother‚ my father ... in that moment when you come back home‚ these are the people you think about."Like Blaze News? Minnesota twins accused of swapping places charged with killing 2 Amish children after smashing into carriage

Identical twins in Minnesota reportedly swapped places after one of them was driving high on a rural highway and smashed into an Amish carriage‚ killing two children in the process‚ according to the New York Post. The authorities spent months building the case before finally announcing charges. However‚ one expert suggested that the evidence provided may not be as strong as originally thought. Prosecutors now alleged that Samantha Jo Peterson was behind the wheel when the crash occurred on September 25‚ 2023. Her vehicle slammed into the back of a carriage‚ killing two children and injuring two others. Sarah Beth Peterson‚ Samantha's sister‚ allegedly took responsibility for the wreck and claimed to be behind the wheel when the incident happened. The reason Sarah took the blame for what her sister Samantha allegedly did was because Samantha was driving without insurance and with an expired driver's license at the time of the crash. As a result of the crash‚ 7-year-old Wilma Miller and 11-year-old Irma Miller were killed‚ and two of their siblings‚ ages 9 and 13‚ were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.Sheriff John DeGeorge said that "Sarah was on scene a short time before our first deputy arrived. That allowed them [the twins] to come up with this story where Sarah would take responsibility for the crash and start to mislead the investigation from that very point.""As the days continued beyond that first day where the crash was reported‚ inconsistencies started to appear in both sisters' stories and in the evidence that the deputies uncovered‚" DeGeorge said‚ according to CBS News."Later‚ it was determined through a series of search warrants‚ interviews‚ analysis of different data that in fact Samantha Peterson‚ Sarah's twin sister‚ was driving that vehicle."Additionally‚ it was found that Samantha was high on drugs when she crashed into the Amish carriage and was afraid she would go to prison if she admitted to the incident. Sarah was charged on Wednesday with 16 felonies‚ including aiding an offender‚ criminal vehicular operation‚ and vehicular homicide. The charges brought against her indicate that she tried to conceal or take responsibility for what her sister Samantha did.Samantha was charged with 21 felonies‚ including vehicular homicide‚ criminal vehicular operation‚ driving under the influence‚ failure to provide proof of insurance‚ careless driving‚ and speeding.Sarah could face up to five years in prison‚ and her sister Samantha could face up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
