Defense Department's Joint Task Force North said the Eurocopter UH-72 Lakota was "conducting aviation operations" near Rio Grande City‚ Texas before crashing. President Biden’s southern border crisis continues to spiral out of control. The latest comes as a reconnaissance helicopter monitoring a group of migrants illegally crossing the border crashed on Friday afternoon‚ killing two US National Guard members and a Border Patrol agent and injuring a fourth person. The GOP and Kristi Noem have been running on fighting “wokeness” and “safe spaces” but they’ve all transformed into woke SJWs demanding safe spaces and passing hate speech laws in the name of protecting “God’s chosen people” and Israel. As I reported last week‚ the Jerusalem Post ran a column calling for “antisemitism” to be “criminalized” worldwide in order to stop criticism of Israel amid their genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza. “Given the large-scale resurgence of international antisemitism today‚ it is now essential to universally criminalize antisemitism‚” said the head of the international law program at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs‚ Alan Baker. “This must be done despite anticipated negative reactions by Muslim groups and despite the apathetic and misplaced sense of political correctness that is most prevalent in Europe and North America.” As I noted last week‚ this global push to outlaw antisemitism makes it abundantly clear that all those laws states like Georgia‚ Florida‚ South Dakota and others are passing to “define antisemitism” are in fact aimed at making it illegal to criticize Jewish people and Israel — First Amendment be damned. Leaked documents from the Anti-Defamation League obtained by the Jewish Daily Forward in 2018 revealed that even the ADL recognized that “anti-BDS” laws making it illegal to boycott Israel were clearly unconstitutional. They warned that such laws (as Noem passed in South Dakota) would be “harmful to the Jewish community” as they would give “the appearance that the Jewish community exercises undue influence in government.” Though the ADL had privately warned against said anti-BDS laws‚ other Jewish groups forged ahead with them and the ADL not only got on board with the anti-BDS effort but became an enthusiastic supporter. Anti-BDS laws have since been passed in 38 states.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre days earlier also refused to say whether Biden will debate Trump. Vice President Kamala Harris refused to say whether she or Joe Biden will participate in presidential debates against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump and his yet-to-be-announced running mate. During Friday’s “NBC Nightly News”‚ White House correspondent Peter Alexander asked Harris whether Biden will debate Trump. Alexander said‚ “Mr. Trump has challenged the president to debate him any time‚ anywhere‚ any place. Will President Biden commit to debating Donald Trump?” Instead of directly answering‚ Harris went on a tear about how horrible Trump is and how great Biden’s policies have been. And I’m just so excited about what we accomplished last night and our president‚” she said. Harris’ suspicious dodging of this easy question comes days after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also refused to say whether Biden will participate in a debate against Trump. “That’s something for the campaign to speak to‚” she repeatedly said. Rising crime in the city is increasing the use of surveillance. Voters in San Francisco have decided to approve controversial new rules known as Proposition E‚ that significantly expand law enforcement’s powers of surveillance. Other than allowing the police free rein when it comes to the surveillance tech they choose to use for a period of one year‚ Preposition E also absolves them of any duty to properly assess how effective the technology might be or how it may affect people’s privacy and safety. To top it off‚ some types of surveillance will not be subject to oversight for an indefinite amount of time. The approval of measures‚ pushed by Mayor London Breed‚ a Democrat‚ as a way to “make San Francisco affordable and safe again” – to paraphrase his sloganeering – can be seen as pushback regarding the developments in the city once known for its liberalism and “peace and love.” Preposition E is one of three different key policy measures from a mayor who is reportedly engaged in an uncertain reelection battle set to play out in the fall. But it’s almost a smokescreen for long-standing public safety concerns‚ poverty‚ and gentrification – brought on not only by the mishandling of the pandemic but San Francisco’s role as “ground zero” of the Big Tech phenomenon. And Big Tech apparently had a hand in making Preposition E happen. Despite the legislation coming from the Democrat camp‚ the outcome of the vote is seen as a win in liberal media reports for “conservative ideas” – notwithstanding the fact that privacy-invasive policies are often opposed by the conservatively-minded people in the US. One of the provisions of Proposition E is to allow the police to use drones in addition to cars in pursuit of suspects‚ and deployment of facial recognition and surveillance cameras even without getting permission from the police commission board. Among those campaigning against Preposition E was the digital rights group EFF‚ which said the measure was a threat not only to privacy and safety‚ but also‚ “democratic ideals.” And EFF had no problem calling it “deceptive” – and calling on voters to say “no” to it. “Don’t be fooled by the misleading arguments of Prop E’s supporters. A group of tech billionaires have contributed a small fortune to convince San Francisco voters that they would be safer if surveilled‚” said EFF.
