‘CHILLING’: TikTok Bans Independent News Outlet Over Lawmaker Speeches About Charlie Kirk

The Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok temporarily banned an independent news outlet after flagging two videos in which lawmakers pay tribute to Charlie Kirk in the wake of his assassination. TikTok flagged two videos from Off The Press, an independent news brand “for Americans who feel the mainstream media ignores the stories they care about most,” as violating “Community Guidelines.” TikTok later told Off The Press that its account—which had nearly 40,000 followers—had been permanently banned. The social media platform restored the account Wednesday, but flagged a third video, leaving Off The Press vulnerable to another ban. “As social media platforms emerge as the dominant source of news for Americans, it is absolutely critical that moderation is conducted fairly and reasonably,” Off The Press Managing Editor Julian Baron told The Daily Signal in a statement Thursday. “What we’ve seen from TikTok is arbitrary takedowns of important news content, specifically videos of lawmakers making remarks on Capitol Hill. That cannot be the norm.” “This sends a chilling message about how much control social media companies have over our public discourse and how easily it can be mismanaged or abused,” he added. Violating TikTok ‘Community Guidelines’ TikTok flagged an Off The Press video featuring Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., urging the House of Representatives to pray in response to news that Kirk, who founded the conservative youth grassroots organization Turning Point USA, had been shot last week. Off The Press posted the video last Wednesday and appealed TikTok’s adverse decision on Friday, and the social media platform rejected the appeal about a half-hour later. Off The Press Screenshot TikTok also flagged a video featuring Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., saying he is sending thoughts to Kirk’s family. The company said the news outlet’s post violated its “Community Guidelines.” Off The Press Screenshot On Saturday, TikTok banned the news outlet’s account. Off The Press Screenshot After The Daily Caller and The Daily Signal reached out to TikTok for comment, the social media company restored the account, but it flagged as “ineligible for recommendation” a video of Melania Trump, the first lady, responding to Kirk’s death. Screenshot TikTok did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment about how these posts may have violated its “Community Guidelines.” The guidelines encourage “Safety and Civility,” stating, “We don’t allow threats, encouragement or glorification of violence, promotion of crime, or instructions on how to commit harmful acts.” The guidelines also forbid “content that promotes hate or attacks people based on protected attributes like race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.” Nothing in the guidelines suggests videos of lawmakers’ responses of sympathy and prayer after a shooting would violate them. Americans ‘Deserve to Know’ “Americans deserve to know exactly what their elected lawmakers are saying—unfiltered and without bias,” Baron told The Daily Signal. “That’s what we strive to provide at Off The Press. Any roadblocks in accomplishing that mission, especially from social media companies, are a threat to the free and fair flow of information.” “The tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk was a moment of national mourning and fear,” Baron added. “At times like this, the public seeks guidance and leadership from their elected officials. There is nothing controversial about connecting Americans with their lawmakers, especially during instances of national tragedy.” Questions About TikTok “TikTok is a weapon of the Chinese Communist Party,” Wes Hodges, acting director of The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Technology and the Human Person, told Politico this week. ByteDance, the social media platform’s parent company, operates out of Beijing, and under Chinese law, all China-based companies must make data available to the Chinese Communist Party. Last year, Congress passed a law banning TikTok if it did not divest from ByteDance within nine months. In January, the Supreme Court upheld the law and affirmed that TikTok must divest from ByteDance or face expulsion from American mobile application stores.   Since returning to the White House, President Donald Trump has signed multiple executive orders extending the deadline for the U.S. TikTok ban, signing the latest extension on Tuesday.  Once critical of the platform, Trump now claims it is important for his younger supporters. The White House joined the platform last month. TikTok did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment by publication time. Dems Have Big Health Care Demands in Budget Battle, But Will GOP Accede?

As Congress faces an end-of-September deadline to fund the federal government and avoid a shutdown, Democrats are making big demands on health care—including undoing Medicaid reforms and extending COVID-era tax credits. Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet, D-Mich., joined fellow Democrats at a press conference Thursday in demanding an extension of expiring health care premium tax credits instituted under then-President Joe Biden. “We are standing at a precipice, where almost 20 million people across this country are about to lose a health care tax cut,” said Rivet. “I have authored a letter where we saw 36 Democratic battleground members sign on, calling on leadership and calling on Republicans to join us in reinstating the [Affordable Care Act] tax credit.” Those enhanced tax credits have emerged as a main issue for Democrats, many of whom are seeking to use their shutdown leverage to force Republicans to extend them before they expire at the end of the year. The credits were introduced during Biden’s administration under the American Rescue Plan Act to subsidize the cost of health care premiums as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and then were further extended, and set to expire at the end of 2025 by Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act—which no Republican voted for. The Democrat legislation expanded the reach of the health care tax credit to higher earners, while also boosting the savings it provided. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., while not ruling out an extension, has signaled he’s not a fan of the policy and doesn’t feel a need to address it in the seven-week stopgap funding bill he is pushing to keep the government open. A shutdown could lead to federal employees not being paid and federal government services being cut off. “They don’t expire until the end of the year, and so we have until December to figure that all out,” Johnson told reporters Tuesday. “Republicans have concerns about those policies, if you look at how much they’ve been abused … . People make $600,000 a year and get a government subsidy for their health care.” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La. (Bill Clark/CQ-Roll Call via Getty Images) The Daily Signal asked McDonald Rivet if she thought Democrats should demand an extension be added to the seven-week spending bill, and what she thought of Johnson saying that discussion can wait. “It’s easy to say that the discussion can wait when you’re not worried about paying your premium payments, but people are going to get these bills now,” she told The Daily Signal.  “What’s important is that we stand with the American people, and we fix this right now,” she continued, saying that the extension cannot “get caught in the various morass of what’s happening in Congress—processes, by the way, that most American families don’t know anything about … . We just have to move. The rest of it is just political mumbo-jumbo that we hear out of Congress.” A reporter then asked a colleague, Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nev., if Democrats would shut down the government over the issue. Democrats have shutdown leverage in the Senate, where Republicans would need at least seven votes from their caucus to bring a spending bill to a vote. “That’s the Republicans’ choice,” Horsford replied. “They control the House, the Senate, and the White House. They have the power, but they also have the choice, and it’s because of the cuts to health care that we are facing this dire situation with a potential Republican shutdown.” But it appears that even if Democrats had their demands on the extension fulfilled by Republicans, that would not guarantee that the government remains open—perhaps a primary reason why Republican leadership is not so eager to attempt a deal on the matter. Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nev. (Jemal Countess via Getty Images) Horsford, pressed further by reporters on whether resolving that issue would avert a shutdown, laid out a laundry list of additional health care grievances. “On top of the premium tax credits, you’ve got the cuts to Medicaid, you’ve got the cuts to cancer research, you’ve got the cuts to [the National Institutes of Health], you’ve got the defunding of the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention],” he said. “You’ve got the dismantling of community health centers and rural hospitals, like the ones that I represent—two in Nevada—that could close. So, it’s not about one piece.” If Democrats do get a deal on the tax credit, it would be to the chagrin of many fiscal conservatives. “Look, the bottom line is that if the Democrats wanted them to last forever. They should have put that in the bill,” House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris, R-Md., previously told The Daily Signal. “COVID is over. The Democrats’ law is going to expire, and I think it should expire. It’s too expensive to renew.” The post Dems Have Big Health Care Demands in Budget Battle, But Will GOP Accede? appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Vittert: Liberals Are 'Drunks' Who's 'Drug of Choice Is Trump Hatred’

In the wake of ABC suspending late night host Jimmy Kimmel Wednesday evening, NewsNation anchor Leland Vittert kicked off On Balance by calling out the “liberal elites” acting like “drunks” who’s “drug of choice is Trump hatred.” He also took a victory lap for the responsible management of Nexstar in blocking Kimmel’s show. Vittert popped a whole in the liberal media’s swiftly cobbled together narrative that Kimmel was fired for telling jokes. He pointed out that Kimmel wasn’t doing a bit, instead lying to his ABC audience about Charlie Kirk’s assassin being part of the “MAGA gang”: VITTERT: It comes after Kimmel went out of his way to suggest the suspect in Charlie Kirk's murder was actually part of MAGA. [Cuts to video] KIMMEL: We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.     “What Kimmel said wasn't controversial. It was just plain wrong. It's the drunk who grabs a bottle and takes another swig to prove to you that they don't have a problem,” Vittert chided, with an analogy he would return to. “Kimmel embodied the liberal elite of America. And what you saw in that clip fully display the liberal elite of America and their drunken-like he training of Donald Trump and Trump's followers.” Vittert poured another round for his “drunks” analogy by calling attention to how Kimmel and the other liberal elites (including the liberal media) couldn’t get enough of hating Trump and his supporters, which was why they thought Kimmel’s lies were jokes: Drunks famously say they don't have a problem. They play the victim and they blame everyone else. Everyone has somebody like this in their lives. So now replace what I just said with Democrats. Their drug of choice is Trump hatred. And that kind of explains America today because Democrats – and not all but the liberal elite of America, the Jimmy Kimmel's, refused to admit they have a problem. Despite the fact “[p]rosecutors say they know who did it and why” and how the evidence “is clear, convincing, and undisputed,” “it feels like almost half of America and most of the media refused to admit,” Vittert lamented. He then played a clip of washed up day-time TV host Montel Williams falsely claiming Kirk’s assassination was a “crime of passion,” as Vittert paraphrased. “Montel is entitled to his opinion. He is not entitled to his own facts,” he scolded. “For example, and we know this, two of the shell casings referenced fascists. ‘Hey, fascist’ was written on one. That's a label we hear often given to Trump and his supporters.” He also called out Democratic Congressman Dan Goldman (NY) for returning to the stochastic terrorism America had been condemning for leading to Kirk’s murder: VITTERT: Even in the wake of Charlie Kirk's murder, members of Congress are still painting Republicans and their supporters as Nazis and fascists. The latest comparison comes today from New York Congressman Dan Goldman. [Cuts to video] GOLDMAN: This is the authoritarian playbook. And then it gets worse because he's politicizing and weaponizing the Department of Justice as his own personal revenge and retribution arm. That is how our democracy gets degraded. And ultimately his goal is very clearly to take it over as his own authoritarian rule. [Cuts back to live] VITTERT: Goldman said that today after everybody had already said we need to turn down the temperature. Before going to his first guest, Vittert stated that the current wave of political violence is “coming from the left” and that “[t]he liberal elite are drunk hating on Trump. It is a drug of tight for them. And for the first time now they have been made to pay a real price.” He also commended NewsNation’s parent company for deciding to pull Kimmel’s show from their network of ABC affiliates: Our parent company Nexstar announced this afternoon that it would not carry his show on our ABC affiliated stations for the foreseeable future. After Nexstar made the announcement, the ABC network pulled Kimmel off the air completely. The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: NewsNation’s On Balance September 17, 2025 9:00:35 p.m. Eastern LELAND VITTERT: I think it is now fair to say the breaking news, things in America are changing rapidly and we start with the news from ABC, not ABC News, but the network says they are suspending Jimmy Kimmel, he's the late night host. It comes after Kimmel went out of his way to suggest the suspect in Charlie Kirk's murder was actually part of MAGA. [Cuts to video] JIMMY KIMMEL: We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them. [Cuts back to live] VITTERT: What Kimmel said wasn't controversial. It was just plain wrong. It's the drunk who grabs a bottle and takes another swig to prove to you that they don't have a problem. Our parent company Nexstar announced this afternoon that it would not carry his show on our ABC affiliated stations for the foreseeable future. After Nexstar made the announcement, the ABC network pulled Kimmel off the air completely. Kimmel embodied the liberal elite of America. And what you saw in that clip fully display the liberal elite of America and their drunken-like he training of Donald Trump and Trump's followers. We have Trump ally Benny Johnson on what sobriety might look like in America. Also this hour, General Mark Kimmit tells us if the west is ready for a drone war in Russia. Hint: We're not. Congressman Jason Smith on the dangers of Republicans ignoring the economic pain. Plus NewsNation's Brian Entin with an exclusive look inside the collapse of Hollywood. Our last story is closely related to our first one. And here it goes. Drunks famously say they don't have a problem. And that's our Why It Matters segment tonight. A week ago. Hard to imagine it's been a week. Charlie Kirk was murdered. Prosecutors say they know who did it and why. They have shown us the evidence. It is clear, convincing, and undisputed. Yet, it feels like almost half of America and most of the media refused to admit. For example, Montel Williams told CNN's highest-rated show the assassination was a crime of passion. [Cuts to video] MONTEL WILLIAMS: I don't believe he was motivated politically. I think this is motivated emotionally. I think this was a emotionally stunted person who literally – I’m going to say it this way, just hear me” tried to defend his significant other, not trying to defend some ideology. [Cuts back to live] VITTERT: Montel is entitled to his opinion. He is not entitled to his own facts. For example, and we know this, two of the shell casings referenced fascists. “Hey, fascist” was written on one. That's a label we hear often given to Trump and his supporters. Even in the wake of Charlie Kirk's murder, members of Congress are still painting Republicans and their supporters as Nazis and fascists. The latest comparison comes today from New York Congressman Dan Goldman. [Cuts to video] REP. DAN GOLDMAN (D-NY): This is the authoritarian playbook. You, our viewers, are fair-minded people. And I've heard from a lot of you, rightly so. The political violence has also come from the right. And that is true. We deal with issues here fairly. That's what makes us different. But the political violence from the right was in the past. We deal with the present. And right now the attacks are coming from the left. They are inspired by the left. The liberal elite are drunk hating on Trump. It is a drug of tight for them. And for the first time now they have been made to pay a real price. (…)

Charlie Kirk: ‘Diversify Thought on Campus,’ the ‘Least Diverse Place in America’ U.S.

Charlie Kirk: ‘Diversify Thought on Campus,’ the ‘Least Diverse Place in America’ U.S.

The college campus is “the least diverse place in America” – a place where it’s dangerous to express different points of view – slain conservative Charlie Kirk once warned in a video he hosted for PragerU. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated on September 10 of this year while speaking at Utah Valley University. Today, while they’ve obsessed over and achieved many types of diversity (race, sex, gender, etc.), college campus across the U.S. have virtually eliminated the freedom to express differing points of view, Kirk explains in his five-minute video: “At most colleges today, that’s a dangerous, revolutionary idea – if that different point of view is not on the left.” … “College is a place where they want everyone to look different, but think exactly the same. It’s like a freaking cult.” “And God forbid if a conservative speaker should show up on campus” and praise America’s virtues, Kirk says. If conservative ideas didn’t have merit, there’d be no need to protest and forbid them, because they’d just die out on their own, Kirk notes. What’s more, obsession with diversity can actually prevent a person from obtaining education, Kirk explains: “If you don’t study Shakespeare because he was a white male, you have been deprived of learning from the most brilliant playwright who ever lived.” “At some point you have to stand up, separate yourself from the crowd, and say, ‘Enough!,’” Kirk concludes, issuing a call to action: “It’s time to diversify thought on campus. It’s time to demand a real education. God knows, you’re paying for it.”

Kirk's Assassination: The Left’s Big Denial

Kirk's Assassination: The Left’s Big Denial

Despite data showing the willingness of the “very liberal” to support violence to achieve political ends, Democrats like Rep. Pat Ryan (D-N.Y.) deny that calling political opponents “fascists” or “Nazis” or “Hitler” contributes to the “overall problem.” Ryan said: “I actually don’t think it does. I think people are trying to grapple with a really unprecedented time in our country where we’re seeing maybe history not fully repeat, but history rhyme at some of the darkest times in our world’s history and struggling in good faith to try to put some intellectual thought into that and find the right language ... I think not being honored by this president, that’s hard to figure out how to, how to put word to that in a way that is constructive.” In short, how would one describe a “fascist” without calling him and, by extension, his supporters, “fascist”? Quite the dilemma. At this point, it’s probably useless to point out how Adolf Hitler, unlike President Donald Trump, murdered his political enemies; controlled the media and the arts through censorship, intimidation and propaganda; arrested and detained adversaries indefinitely and without trial; murdered 6 million Jews and 5 million others; and ignited a world war that resulted in an estimated 50 million civilians dead worldwide. Virtually every policy Trump enacts or attempts to enact ends up in court. He appeals unfavorable district court decisions, many of which end up at the Supreme Court, where Trump usually wins. Still, Trump’s critics call him a “tyrant” and a “dictator.” Examine the judicial system under Hitler’s Germany. The Holocaust Encyclopedia writes: “... Like most areas of public life after the Nazi rise to power in 1933, the German system of justice underwent ‘coordination’ (alignment with Nazi goals). All professional associations involved with the administration of justice were merged into the National Socialist League of German Jurists.” Comparing Trump, a democratically elected leader, to Hitler is, was and always will be insanely and profoundly ignorant. It is insidious. Former Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “People don’t have the intention of saying something that will lead to something dangerous (so) we cannot take responsibility for the minds that are out there and how they hear it.” How did Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin, Tyler Robinson, “hear it”? After Robinson shot Kirk, he texted his roommate/partner, a man transitioning to be a woman. Robinson told his partner to find and read a message Robinson left before the assassination. It read: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.” Partner: “You weren’t the one who did it right????” Robinson: “I am, I’m sorry.” When asked why, Robinson responded: “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.” On the ammunition found with his rifle were several phrases including, “Hey, fascist! Catch!” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) insists her party comes to the debate with clean hands because, well, you know, Trump. Warren said: “Oh, please. Right. Why don’t you start with the president of the United States? Right? And every ugly meme he has posted and every ugly word ...” Let’s start with the president. It was former President Joe Biden who said, “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the -- I’m going to say something, it’s like semi-fascism.” Vice President and then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris, when asked whether she considered Trump “a fascist,” responded: “Yes, I do. Yes, I do. ... He’s saying to his generals, in essence, why can’t you be more like Hitler’s generals? Come on!” A YouGov poll taken after Kirk’s assassination found that 25% of the self-described “very liberal” believe political violence is sometimes acceptable to achieve political goals. This is eight times the number of the self-described “very conservative” who feel likewise. Last year, a report affiliated with Rutgers University called “Assassination Culture” wrote: “Over half of those who self-identified as left of center (56%) reported that if someone murdered Donald Trump, they would at least be somewhat justified ... This includes 14.1% who said this murder would be ‘Completely Justified.’” In 2008, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama, accused of merely uttering empty words, said: “Don’t tell me words don’t matter. ‘I have a dream’ -- just words? ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’ -- just words?” Larry Elder is a bestselling author and nationally syndicated radio talk-show host. Trump reveals why the US is trying to get back Bagram Air Base

President Donald Trump revealed during a joint press conference on Thursday with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that the U.S. is working on regaining control of Bagram Air Base in the Parwan Province of Taliban-controlled Afghanistan."We're trying to get it back," said Trump. "We're trying to get it back because [the Taliban] need[s] things from us."The Soviets built the airfield 27 miles north of Kabul and 400 miles west of China in the 1950s and controlled it until their withdrawal from the country in the late 1980s. After overthrowing the previous Taliban regime in 2001, the United States took control of the base and made massive improvements.'It's exactly one hour away from where China makes its nuclear missiles.'During the Biden administration's botched withdrawal from Afghanistan two decades later — during which the ISIS-Khorasan suicide bombing outside Hamid Karzai International Airport claimed the lives of 11 Marines, a soldier, and a sailor and wounded 45 other service members — the 30 square mile airfield was given to the Afghan National Army, which promptly surrendered the base to Taliban forces.RELATED: The Department of War would remind America what’s really at stake Bagram Airfield after its abandonment by the Biden administration. Photo by Rahmatullah ALizadah/Xinhua via Getty ImagesIn his first Cabinet meeting after retaking office, Trump hinted that he might condition continued American aid to Afghanistan on the U.S. retaking control of the airfield.Trump also criticized Biden's botched withdrawal, noting that "we were going to keep Bagram — not because of Afghanistan but because of China.""It's exactly one hour away from where China makes its nuclear missiles," said Trump. "We were going to keep a small force on Bagram. We were going to have Bagram Air Base, one of the biggest air bases in the world, one of the biggest runways."When pressed for comment, the State Department referred Blaze News to the White House, which did not immediately respond. The Federation of American Scientists revealed in 2021 that satellite imagery indicated that China was constructing a nuclear missile silo field in eastern Xinjiang, the Chinese province that shares a border with Afghanistan. The distance between Bagram and the airfield is over 1,414 miles as the crow flies. The communist nuclear missile silos in Yumen, Gansu Province, are approximately 930 to 1,000 miles away from Bagram by air.The Washington, D.C.-based Orion Policy Institute noted in a March policy brief that:since relinquishing control of Bagram Air Base in July 2021, the U.S. lacks a military presence in or near Central Asia. If the U.S. regained control of Bagram Airbase, it could reassert U.S. influence in the region, counter China’s growing influence, combat China’s growing nuclear capabilities, and better protect the U.S. from the growing terrorist threats.Trump reiterated on Thursday, "We want that base back, but one of the reasons we want the base is, as you know, it's an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons. So a lot of things are happening." Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Liberals conveniently forget how many people they've canceled in the last decade

Liberals are up in arms about Jimmy Kimmel's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" getting suspended by broadcaster ABC, claiming conservatives have been hypocritical over the ordeal.Kimmel found himself in hot water after claiming that Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin was of the same political tribe as Kirk, saying, "The MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."'Remember when you and your wife called Bob Iger to have me fired?'Even President Barack Obama has spoken out about Kimmel, saying on X, "After years of complaining about cancel culture," the Trump administration has "taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn't like."However, the liberal elites and their late-night mouthpieces have seemingly forgotten about the high-profile cancellations that have occurred in recent years, especially those involving people on the other side of the political spectrum. For instance, Roseanne Barr had her iconic 2018 comeback stymied over what were considered by the media to be "racist tweets."Barr's show "Roseanne" had a thunderous return to the very same airwaves as Kimmel on ABC, but even though she had the most-watched show of the year, she was still booted from her own creation.Barr even responded to President Obama's post on Thursday, saying, "Remember when you and your wife called Bob Iger to have me fired?" referring to the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC.The comedian is just one of many personalities who lost their jobs as a result of their speech.RELATED: Jimmy Kimmel's show pulled off the air after Charlie Kirk comments — (@) Who can forget that Gina Carano, also employed by Disney, was fired in February 2021 after she made posts online that mocked the use of pronouns while also criticizing COVID-19 policies? She was promptly kicked from Disney's "The Mandalorian," with studio Lucasfilm saying, "Her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."Tucker Carlson was famously fired by Fox News in April 2023 for what some say was a result of his hammering of the January 6, 2021, investigations. However, Carlson claimed his firing was a requirement of the $787.5 million settlement Fox had agreed to with Dominion Voting Systems.Another conveniently forgotten cancellation from the left was Alex Jones, who was simultaneously taken off of every major platform in 2018. YouTube, Apple, Spotify, and Facebook all took Jones' Infowars off their sites for allegedly promoting violence and hate speech.Jones' take on Sandy Hook, Comet Pizza, and the Parkland, Florida, shootings were cited as reasons for removing Jones not from just radio stations, but from entire platforms that are meant to be public for all.RELATED: 'John Goodman wouldn't do it': Roseanne Barr says other 'Roseanne' actors refused to play Trump supporters J. K. Rowling attends day four of Royal Ascot, 2025. Photo by Karwai Tang/WireImageAuthor J.K. Rowling was blacklisted from a reunion for her own project in 2021 over her unwillingness to accept males as females. She was also banned from certain "Harry Potter" projects for the same reason.Almost every star of "Harry Potter" has condemned Rowling's comments and views, which have amounted to, essentially, not wanting trans-identifying men to be allowed in women's spaces.Liberals certainly did not shed any tears for Megyn Kelly when she was fired by NBC in 2018. The morning show host dared to say that if a non-black person wanted to dress as a black character for Halloween, it should be allowed."Truly, you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface at Halloween or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was OK, as long as you were dressing up as, like, a character," she said, per the Associated Press.Leftists did not defend Kelly then and treated the situation as if she had been advocating for the mockery of all black people.Last but not least, BlazeTV's own Glenn Beck departed from Fox News Channel in 2011 at the behest of Media Matters. In fact, not only did the activist group proudly claim the victory, but executives openly said they would monitor whoever replaced Beck."We monitor Beck's 5 p.m. show on Fox. Whoever is in at 5 p.m., we’re still going to monitor,” said Media Matters executive vice president Ari Rabin-Havt.Though Beck was drawing in more than 2 million viewers per show at the time, Media Matters targeted the show's advertisers, which eventually caved.Like Blaze News? Dave Portnoy offers the most sensible take on Jimmy Kimmel's suspension — but it will anger liberals

Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy has experienced what it's like to be canceled. It has been almost four years since Business Insider trampled on Portnoy's image by seemingly reaching out to any, or all, women in his past in an attempt to paint him as "violent" toward them during sex; the word "sex" appeared 27 times in the the outlet's story.'Jimmy Kimmel isn't being successful enough ... to keep him on the air.'At the time, Portnoy slammed the outlet as his new mortal enemy and rejected every assertion up and down. Now, Portnoy's experience with cancellation have shined through in his take on Jimmy Kimmel's suspension from ABC, following Kimmel's disprovable claims about Charlie Kirk's alleged murderer.Portnoy took to his social media on Thursday to say he did not think Kimmel was being "canceled.""To me Cancel culture is when people go out of their way to dig up old tweets, videos etc looking for dirt on somebody they don’t like in an effort to get them fired," Portnoy wrote on X. "Like if Kimmel got canceled for s**t he did on the Man Show that would be cancel culture," he added. "But when a person says something that a ton of people find offensive, rude, dumb in real time and then that person is punished for it that's not cancel culture."Portnoy was likely referring to Kimmel doing blackface on his 19990-2003 show to impersonate former NBA player Karl Malone, which Kimmel apologized for in 2020."That is consequences for your actions," Portnoy added.Portnoy explained in a follow-up video that when sponsors, networks, and even bosses are involved, there will always be caveats on what one can say.RELATED: Jimmy Kimmel claims Charlie Kirk shooter is 'MAGA' during wildly unfunny monologue — (@) Portnoy revealed that when Penn Entertainment bought Barstool Sports in 2023, part of the agreement was that he would not "make fun of politics and government employees."The entrepreneur explained that Penn, which runs gaming sites and casinos, did not want Portnoy or his staff poking fun at those who control gambling licenses."Whenever you work for a company, or work for somebody else, and you are ... creating headaches for the people up top, you're forced with a decision," Portnoy continued. He stated that he did not think conservatives were engaging in cancel culture and being hypocritical in relation to Kimmel."What happened to Kimmel, I would say, is consequences for your actions in real time."RELATED: 'It makes me want to puke': Dave Portnoy reacts to political advice from AOC, Zohran Mamdani supporters President Barack Obama appears on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on November 19, 2020. ABC via Getty Images Portnoy went on to claim that Kimmel's situation was simply the broadcaster's way of stating that viewers in its markets do not want to see that type of content. He stressed, "This is not a free-speech issue to me.""This is a capitalist market," the 48 year old added. Finally, Portnoy argued that if Kimmel is "creating more headaches than he is bringing in benefit," he, like anyone else, could get the boot.Nielsen ratings have shown a significant drop in viewership for Kimmel in recent years, down to about one-fourth of what they were in 2013. In 2025, his show has ratings around 0.16, which is considered extremely low and at risk of being taken off the air."This is, Jimmy Kimmel isn't being successful enough ... to keep him on the air."Like Blaze News?
