South African President: Don’t ‘Instruct’ Us To Arrest Those Chanting Death Threats To Whites

Asked why his country would not arrest blacks who chant “Kill the Boer! Kill the farmer!” South African President Cyril Ramaphosa answered that his country did not need to “be instructed by anyone” to take that step, asserting that the country’s constitution protected freedom of expression. Last week, President Donald Trump confronted Ramaphosa at the White House about the threat to whites in his country.  When Ramaphosa claimed blacks in South Africa were also killed by criminals in the country, Trump responded, “The farmers are not black. And the people that are being killed in large numbers, and you saw all those grave sites, and those are people that loved ones are going … on a Sunday morning, they told me to pay their respects to their loved ones that were killed … their heads chopped off. They died violently.” In late March, Julius Malema, the founder and leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, a communist political party, led a rally at which the crowd chanted “Kill the Boer! Kill the farmer!” Malema has also led chants to “cut the throat of whiteness.” “In 2023, a little under 300 white-owned farms were attacked across South Africa, with 49 people killed in those attacks, according to figures from AfriForum,” NBC News noted. In 2010, a South African court ruled that the song “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer,” which Malema was using, did constitute hate speech. But in 2022, Judge Edwin Molahlehi reversed the ruling, saying, “It does not constitute hate speech and deserves to be protected under the rubric of freedom of speech – it articulates the failure of the current government to address issues of economic empowerment and land division.” On Saturday, Malema defiantly said, “The struggle heroes composed this song. All I am doing is to defend the legacy of our struggle. Therefore I will never stop singing” the song. “That will be a betrayal to the struggle of our people.” “When it comes to the issues of arresting anyone … it’s a sovereign issue,” Ramaphosa stated. “It’s not a matter where we need to be instructed by anyone that ‘Go and arrest this one.’ We are a very proud, sovereign country that has its own laws, that has its own processes, and we take into account what the constitutional court also decided when it said that that slogan, ‘Kill the Boer. Kill the farmer,’ is a liberation chant and slogan. And it’s not meant to be a message that elicits or calls upon anyone to go and be killed. That is what our court decided. So they will probably want to arrest people willy-nilly, [but] we follow the dictates of our constitution because we are a constitutional state and we are a country where freedom of expression is in the bedrock of our constitutional arrangement.” [WATCH] President Cyril Ramaphosa says SA can’t be instructed to arrest anyone for the "Kill The Boer" chant. pic.twitter.com/FtgvtjAXHv — Newzroom Afrika (@Newzroom405) May 27, 2025   In January, Ramaphosa signed the Expropriation Act 13 of 2024, permitting the government to seize land for public purposes or in the public interest. ‘Desperate’: Viewers React To Jennifer Lopez Making Out With Dancers At AMAs

Pop singer Jennifer Lopez is getting mixed reactions for a move she made during her performance at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) on Monday night. The 55-year-old was wearing a bedazzled jumpsuit while performing a medley of songs during the show’s opening when she unexpectedly kissed one of the male dancers on stage, then turned to a female dancer and kissed her, too.  While many fans praised Lopez’s performance, others called it “trashy” and accused the singer of ripping off Madonna, who infamously locked lips with both Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera while performing at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2003. Gross,” another person echoed. “Pretty trashy,” a third commenter wrote. “I can smell the desperation for attention,” another reply said. “Lady you’re 55… stop embarrassing yourself and just call it quits.” Despite the audience having a negative reaction online, the night’s next presenter had nothing but praise for Lopez. “How cool is it to have a total superstar like J.Lo hosting the AMAs?” actress Tiffany Haddish told the audience gathered at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.  “Our host has just danced to 23 hits in six minutes,” she continued. “Just from that opening number alone, Jenny from the Block has got all her steps in for the day, and she got all her kisses in. Save a dancer for me, J.Lo. Damn! You ain’t the only one out here single.”   The night’s big winner was Billie Eilish, who won in all seven categories for which she was nominated, including major accolades such as Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. Lopez made headlines last summer when she filed for divorce from actor Ben Affleck, with whom she had been married for about two years. The pair was previously engaged and broke up in 2002, then reconnected years later and made much ado about their rekindled romance. The “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer is currently single.

Tom Cruise Shares Thank-You Note After ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ Record Opening

Tom Cruise had an enthusiastic reaction to his latest film, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” helping to make Memorial Day weekend 2025 break records at the box office. The success of “Mission: Impossible 8,” which raked in $341 million worldwide, and Disney’s latest live-action remake, “Lilo & Stitch,” which earned $200 million, gave the movie business a much-needed boost after a sluggish start to the year.  “This weekend was one for the history books!” Cruise wrote in a note he shared with followers on his social media platforms. “Congratulations and thank you to every filmmaker, every artist, every crew member and every single person who works at the studios.” pic.twitter.com/zkf0sr7zuI — Tom Cruise (@TomCruise) May 27, 2025   “To every theater and every employee who helps bring these stories to audiences, thank you,” the message continued.  “To everyone that works at Paramount Pictures and Skydance, thank you for your many years of partnership and unwavering support.” “And most of all, THANK YOU to audiences everywhere for whom we all serve and for whom we all LOVE to entertain. Sincerely, Tom.” “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” earned $63 million domestically, a record for the long-running “Mission: Impossible” franchise, over the three-day weekend alone, according to Variety. The film brought in an estimated $77 million at the domestic box office during the four-day holiday. “A record opening on the eighth iteration is remarkable. It speaks to the longevity of the franchise,” Paramount’s distribution chief Chris Aronson said. “The spectacle of what Tom and McQ [director Christopher McQuarrie] put on screen is one-of-a-kind in today’s marketplace.” The success comes after early reviewers gave high praise to the action film.  “[‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’] is whip-smart and razor-sharp, this tense eighth entry in one of the most exhilarating franchises of all time is another winner. With sphincter-tightening set pieces, blockbusters do not get much better than this. Cruise & [director Christopher] McQuarrie nail it!” one reviewer wrote.  The “Mission: Impossible” franchise, which began in 1996 and is based on the 1960s television series, has evolved into a high-energy action filmography featuring Tom Cruise’s death-defying stunts and intricate espionage plots. The films have grossed more than $4 billion worldwide, with the most successful being “Fallout” (2018).

‘Big, Beautiful’ Bill’s Policies Prove Popular In Key House Districts, Poll Shows

A recent survey found that several policies contained in the House version of President Donald Trump’s “one big, beautiful bill” are broadly popular among voters across a spate of key congressional districts which will help decide the outcome of the 2026 midterms. The poll by Republican pollster Fabrizio, Lee & Associates, surveyed 72 “targeted” House […]
