Netanyahu seeks to bolster US support with Congress speech

Israel's prime minister will address a joint session of the US Congress in a bid to bolster support for his war in the Gaza Strip. Benjamin Netanyahu was invited by the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, whose Republican Party is trying to show unflinching support for Israel. But several Democratic lawmakers plan to boycott the address in protest at the huge numbers of Palestinians killed by Israel's offensive. Mr Netanyahu arrived in the US on Monday. After addressing Congress on...

Russia responds to Zelensky’s talks proposal

Vladimir Zelensky’s signal that Ukraine is ready to resume peace talks with Moscow is not credible, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said. In recent weeks, Zelensky has said that Kiev wants to end the conflict “as soon as possible,” preferably “by the end of this year.” He has also insisted on holding a second ‘peace summit’ to achieve that goal. The last such event, hosted by Switzerland, focused on Kiev’s ‘peace formula’ – which demands that...

Elon Musk pushes back on reports that he's donating $45M a month to super PAC backing Trump

Billionaire Elon Musk is denying reports that said he is donating $45 million a month to a super PAC supporting former President Trump each month leading up to the November election. "What's been reported in the media is simply not true," Musk said in an interview with conservative commentator Jordan Peterson. "I am not donating $45 million a month to Trump." This comes after The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk was planning to donate $45 million a...

Harris skipping Netanyahu address shows daylight with Biden on Israeli leader

Vice President Harris will be notably absent from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, a move some Republicans called “petty.” But the move could have the potential to show some daylight between her and President Biden when it comes to the Israeli leader. Harris, now rapidly consolidating support as the likely Democratic nominee after Biden dropped out of the race, has been seen as more sympathetic to the Palestinian...

How 15 years of stagnant federal minimum wage affects hourly workers

The federal minimum wage has basically become an outdated relic: It last went up to $7.25 on July 24, 2009 — 15 years ago. Why it matters: Though very few people actually earn $7.25 an hour or less, the federal standard has ripple effects for all hourly workers — helping to keep pay low for millions. The big picture: Look at the chart. In inflation-adjusted terms, the federal minimum wage is worth less now than at any time since 1949. Still, workers have...

Jane’s Addiction Deliver “Imminent Redemption”

It’s been a while. Jane’s Addiction’s ‘classic lineup’ consisting of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery have released a studio single, “Imminent Redemption.” Prior to “Imminent Redemption“ Avery’s last time in the studio with Jane’s Addiction was for the ’90 album “Ritual De Lo Habitual.” Navarro left Jane’s Addiction in ’91 and spent much of the decade with the Red Hot Chili Peppers before returning to Jane’s Addiction in ’08. But he sat out the band’s ’22 and ’23 shows due to his battle with long COVID. Last year, Josh Klinghoffer (another RHCP alum)) filled in. “It is different this time,” said the band. “To have everyone back together, releasing new music. It’s time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane’s Addiction.” “Imminent Redemption“ was first performed live when the classic lineup played its first show in 14 years last May in London. ### The post Jane’s Addiction Deliver “Imminent Redemption” appeared first on RockinTown.
