Video: Driver fights off carjackers who try to steal his luxury SUV. Victim manages to get away; crooks depart disappointed.

A motorist fought off carjackers who tried to steal his luxury SUV last week in Edison‚ New Jersey‚ WPVI-TV reported. The victim managed to get away from the crooks — but the bad guys were left rather disappointed. The victim was in possession of his key fob when he got away‚ so the carjacking ultimately was a bust‚ the station said. What are the details?Surveillance video recorded the moments when three masked suspects approached the victim's SUV from behind Friday afternoon in the parking lot of the Patel Brothers grocery store on Oak Tree Road‚ WPVI reported. The motorist's door was open when the crooks descended upon the victim‚ appearing to punch him before pulling him out of the driver's seat. One of the attackers was knocked down along with the motorist‚ but the motorist appeared to square up when he got to his feet‚ and the trio didn't appear to want to tangle with him any more. When the victim ran into the store and called police‚ he was in possession of his key fob‚ WPVI said‚ adding that without it the crooks couldn't steal his SUV.Authorities are still searching for the suspects‚ the station said.Turns out store owner Kaushik Patel also is the victim's father — and he recounted to the station Tuesday what happened next. "When I saw the video‚ I was scared ... but then I called‚ and my son said‚ 'I'm safe‚ Dad‚ don't worry — everything is good‚ just minor scratches‚'" Patel added to WPVI.The station said Patel's son is OK physically and was back to work Tuesday — but he was still shaken up emotionally. In fact‚ WPVI said‚ it was the second time carjackers targeted him; previously crooks got away with his Mercedes G-Class SUV. 'We gave these delinquent customers a chance': NYC mayor goes after hotel chains‚ families‚ for overdue water bills

New York City Mayor Adams (D) issued a warning that he had initiated the next phase of collection enforcement on overdue water service accounts from residents and commercial properties.During a press conference‚ Mayor Adams announced that the New York City Department of Environmental Protection is ramping up its collection efforts on 2‚400 chronically delinquent water service accounts. The accounts reportedly total $102 million in fees. The DEP will send out "water shutoff notices" to commercial properties‚ hotels‚ office buildings‚ retail spaces‚ as well as family homes that haven't responded to outreach efforts."We gave these delinquent customers a chance to clear their water debts and save millions on interest through our water amnesty program‚ and while more than 100‚000 took us up on our reasonable offer‚ a small percentage of customers incorrectly made the mistake of thinking they could get away with stiffing their fellow New Yorkers without any accountability‚" Adams said‚ according to an official press release. "We’re not going to allow big commercial properties and others [to] leave the rest of us holding their water bills.""While we aim to work with these customers one last time‚ we will not look away while landlords and property owners ignore their obligations to their neighbors and their city‚" the mayor added. Trying to dodge your water bill AND stick working-class New Yorkers with the bill? We're cutting you off. Join us now in Chelsea for an announcement to hold delinquent debt holders accountable. https://t.co/ix0LUgYRhU — (@) The announcement regarding water services comes as the city continues to deal with violent crime and a system overloaded by illegal immigration.Despite a lack of shelter space‚ migrants have refused to take the city's offer for free transportation to other locations. Only a reported 2% of those offered a plane or bus ticket chose to relocate."New Yorkers shouldn't have to pay hotels' water bills‚ they need to pay up if they owe the city money‚" popular independent reporter Oren Levy told Blaze News."At the same time‚ we should have a 'New Yorkers first' attitude. We shouldn't have to pay for the illegal immigration either; there are people taking advantage of the system‚" he added. In a surprising turn‚ Mayor Adams has suggested the city change its sanctuary city status so that illegal immigrants that commit felonies or violent crimes can be deported. Levy‚ who reports from city hall almost daily‚ said however that Adams is often stonewalled by city council members‚ particularly in regard to changing the sanctuary city status."City councilors say it's not going to happen. A lot of people think the mayor has the power to do whatever he wants‚ but he doesn't‚" Levy added. "The city is out of control."Law enforcement issues continue to pop up‚ including attacks on NYPD officers.Tweenage twin sisters were recently stabbed after refusing a man's advances outside a Brooklyn bodega. One of the twins died from her wounds in what is just the latest instance of violent crime taking place in the cityMeanwhile‚ the NYPD faced criticism for publicizing their own dance team just weeks earlier. If the city cannot resolve the water bill balances within 15 days it will begin shutting off water services. Account holders also have the option to enter into a payment agreement. If water services are shut off‚ affected customers are required to pay a $1‚000 restoration fee along with paying the past due balance.Like Blaze News? Could THIS challenger explain Judge McAfee's decision to let Fani Willis stay AFTER he said she 'acted with a tremendous lapse in judgment'?

While the special prosecutor and alleged lover of Fani Willis‚ Nathan Wade‚ is off Trump’s case‚ the Fulton County district attorney can remain. Sara Gonzales is floored by the decision‚ saying‚ “I don’t understand why she was allowed to stay on the case.” However‚ she has an idea. “There was a ‘challenger’ who threw his hat into the ring to challenge this particular judge‚” Gonzales explains‚ adding‚ “I’m just wondering how much that had to do with the judge’s decision.” The "challenger" happens to be an African-American civil rights activist. Stu Burguiere believes that might have something to do with the questionable decision as well‚ noting that the judge’s district voted 73% in favor of Biden. Because of this civil rights activist‚ the judge’s job is already in jeopardy. So‚ going easy on Fani Willis might be an act of self preservation. “I hope this can still be taken care of‚” Stu says‚ “but it’s hard to have hope in this day and age.” While the outlook is bleak‚ Pat Gray hasn’t lost hope. “Maybe it’s grounds for a mistrial. I mean‚ I’m not a lawyer‚ but it would seem to be if there’s already been impropriety going on there with the prosecution‚ I would think that opens things up for the Trump team. But I mean‚ I think they’ve got a good case anyway‚” Gray says. 'Courage on wheels': Driver saves 9 children moments before school bus bursts into flames

A young bus driver in New Orleans‚ Louisiana‚ has been hailed as a hero after she managed to steer nine children off of their school bus just moments before it became engulfed in flames. On Wednesday morning‚ 28-year-old Kia Rousseve was making her normal round as a school bus driver‚ a job she has held for the past three years. Before long‚ Rousseve began to suspect something was wrong because the bus was "jerking" about and moving unusually slowly‚ she later told ABC7NY. She brought the vehicle to a stop in front of a bar and pickleball facility known as the Exchange‚ located just across the street from the Mississippi River.Suddenly‚ a bystander rushed to the bus door to tell Rousseve that the undercarriage of the bus was on fire. Rousseve said that's when her maternal instincts kicked in. "I put my motherhood on‚" she said. "I have a child. I thought about them kids like it was my own child."Cameras outside the Exchange caught Rousseve's brave rescue. She quickly escorted all nine children‚ ranging in age from kindergarten to eighth grade‚ off the bus. She then made one final pass to make sure the bus was entirely evacuated before heading out the main door herself.Within moments‚ the bus nearly exploded. "All I heard was 'Boom! Boom! Boom!' I was like‚ 'Oh‚ my God‚ the bus blew up‚'" she explained. Some of the students were crying‚ and a 911 dispatcher requested EMS since "a couple kids want[ed] to get checked out." But everyone on the bus that day‚ including Rousseve‚ walked away from the bus safely."We could have lost our lives‚" Rousseve later realized. "That's what I've been thinking a lot."Her employer‚ Community Academies of New Orleans‚ claimed she showed "courage on wheels" that day."I feel great about saving other kids’ lives and saving my life‚" she said with a smile.A preliminary investigation suggested that a faulty alternator likely caused the initial combustion. Community Academies claimed it has since examined all of its bus units for similar problems‚ the New York Post reported.Like Blaze News? Why the left fears beauty

Why the left fears beauty

A British museum owned by Cambridge University recently overhauled its art exhibits and introduced new signage warning that paintings of the British countryside could trigger “dark nationalist feelings.” Another sign in the exhibit explains‚ “Landscape paintings were also always entangled with national identity. The countryside was seen as a direct link to the past‚ and therefore a true reflection of the essence of a nation.” This part is true. Particular peoples live in a specific place‚ and beautiful depictions of that place can speak powerfully to their sense of identity and belonging. What is interesting is how often the left feels compelled to warn us about the dangers of beauty. Our progressive ruling elites have created a small‚ ugly‚ and artificial world‚ and they are right to fear the power that natural beauty holds to shatter that illusion.Beauty cuts through our nonsense excuses and demands that we become worthy of it. Like many people‚ I have lived most of my life as a thoroughly modern Philistine. As an advanced and sophisticated person‚ I dismissed beauty as a value and often saw unnecessary adornment as an ostentatious waste that hindered efficiency. I have been a Christian since I was young‚ but even in my interactions with the divine‚ I had a very Protestant understanding of sacred spaces. Why would anyone build a giant cathedral when the people of God could gather in a strip mall or warehouse and give the rest of that money to the poor? The notion of beauty as an elevation of the human spirit was always treated as a backward and outdated notion held by self-important aristocrats in less enlightened times. We think of ourselves as highly rational‚ so it can be difficult to recognize how critical aesthetics are to our way of being. If the things we see every day are beautiful‚ if they stir our souls and connect us to the divine‚ that keeps us grounded in a way that is hard to describe. Beauty confronts and convicts us in an uncomfortable manner. That which is undeniably beautiful holds an intrinsic value that reminds us that natural hierarchies are real‚ good‚ and inescapable. Beauty reminds us that there is a right way for things to be‚ and while we may not yet have achieved that right way of being‚ we must remain oriented toward the good and true. In short‚ beauty cuts through our nonsense excuses and demands that we become worthy of it. The world the left has created is entirely artificial and requires an incredible amount of abstract nonsense to maintain its illusions. Progressives hate the idea of hierarchy‚ human nature‚ and unchosen bonds. Everyone must be equal‚ everything must be interchangeable‚ and everything must be disposable. Gender‚ marriage‚ family‚ community‚ and every other aspect of human identity can be redefined at a moment’s notice. The compulsion to flatten every aspect of existence drives the left to sever the natural connections that define every person so that they can be utterly remade. The individual must be isolated from his natural systems of support and made entirely dependent on the state if everyone is to be made truly equal. The more artificial and abstract a system progressives construct to support their culture of lies‚ the more dangerous truth becomes. The best way to keep people trapped in an artificial environment is to deny them the knowledge that any alternative exists. Leftists in Western countries are tearing down statues‚ destroying priceless paintings‚ and burning down magnificent cathedrals for a reason. In one sense‚ this rabid cultural vandalism is like the defensive thrashings of a wild animal. Progressives reflexively strike out and mar that which is beautiful so that it does not convict them in their own squalid existence. But there is a deeper method to this vile iconoclastic madness. The key to cultural revolution is to sever the continuity between the past and the present. If the left can successfully bury the beauty of the past‚ then the people will have no memory of what made them great and they can instead be sculpted into whatever dismal monument to mediocrity our progressive elites have planned. Brutalist and depressing modern architecture‚ abstract and absurd modern art‚ formulaic and soulless modern movies are all engineered to ensure that we never glimpse that which makes us fully human. As hilarious as trigger warnings on a landscape painting may seem‚ the museum staff recognized the very real power that such works of art hold and the threat they pose to the current progressive order. Leftists have worked very hard to eliminate the works of architectural‚ artistic‚ and musical beauty that might stir the soul to greatness‚ but the beauty of nature remains. Even if our entire culture is stripped of the truth of beauty‚ the very rocks around us still cry out.One reason progressives feel compelled to drive the population into squalid cities is their contempt for the natural beauty that keeps rural populations firmly connected to reality. Whether in the Soviet Union or the United States‚ leftists always revile the independent farmer. The independent farmer is self-sufficient‚ cannot be controlled through the manipulation of a system on which he does not rely‚ and is too deeply rooted in the reality of nature to be taken in by absurd and artificial abstraction.Above all the progressives fear beauty because it threatens their way of life. The more artificial and abstract a system progressives construct to support their culture of lies‚ the more dangerous truth becomes. Cultural revolutionaries instinctively attack the true and beautiful because they see it as an assault on the small‚ ugly‚ and plastic world they have constructed. While those in power work diligently to snuff out any instance of beauty left in our culture‚ they will ultimately fail. As long as one rolling countryside‚ one soaring mountain range‚ one gleaming seacoast remains‚ the power and truth of beauty will still convict us.
