Two Kansas Moms Disappeared While Picking Up Kids In Oklahoma. Foul Play Is Suspected.

Two Kansas moms who were traveling together to pick up children in Oklahomas panhandle have not been seen in more than a week‚ and police suspect foul play.Jilian Kelley‚ 39‚ was traveling with Veronica Butler‚ 27‚ to pick up Butlers young children in Eva‚ Oklahoma‚ but they never arrived. Their vehicle was found abandoned in Elkhart‚ Kansas‚ just a few miles from their destination‚ the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said in a Facebook post on March 31.What investigators discovered in the vehicle has led them to suspect foul play is involved‚ the OSBI said in an update. The bureau has not released what was found.Kelley is the wife of Pastor Heath Kelley of the Hugoton First Christian Church in Kansas‚ The Christian Post reported. A video posted to YouTube last week shows church officials praying for the Kelley family. Willow Christian Church also posted prayers for the missing women on Facebook. Please‚ please be in prayer for these women. Jillian is the wife of our new minister‚ Heath Kelley‚ and the sister-in-law of church member Hillary Kennedy‚ the church said. Please pray that Jillian and her friend Veronica are safe and that they are found quickly. God please bring these women home to their families that are so worried about them.Butler was a member of the Hugoton Assembly of God‚ and her pastor told ABC News that the two women were acquaintances rather than friends. It appears that this was not a willing incident on their own to have taken off. It looks to me that theres something more involved‚ he told the outlet. The two women were traveling to pick up Butlers 6-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son. The children were living with their biological fathers mother. Butler was reportedly involved in a custody dispute with the father of her children‚ Wrangler Cole Rickman‚ Inside Edition reported. Rickman had been released from prison‚ where he was serving a sentence for possession of a firearm‚ just a week before the women went missing. But Lauren Conlin‚ an independent journalist‚ spoke to Rickmans grandmother who said Rickman had been released from prison and ordered to go to rehab on the same day. She said Rickman was in rehab when the women disappeared.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPHe [Rickman] was checked into rehab on the 22nd- 30 days no contact and cannot leave any outings from the facility for 30 days‚ and has to be there for six months. OSBI confirmed he was there‚ the grandmother said‚ Conlin posted on X.UPDATE: Regarding #MISSING Kansas women‚ #VeronicaButler and #JillianKelley. I spoke with the grandmother of Wrangler Cole Rickman [Rickman is Veronicas ex and father of her children]. Grandmother confirmed the below:He [Rickman] was checked into rehab on the 22nd- 30 days pic.twitter.com/eHuJkcZN3q Lauren Conlin (@conlin_lauren) April 3‚ 2024The grandmother also told Conlin that Butlers children were safe.Butler and Kelley remain missing.

Dems Counting On 3 Battleground States To Deliver 2024 Win For Biden

Democratic lawmakers and political strategists are eyeing the three Midwestern states of Michigan‚ Pennsylvania‚ and Wisconsin often referred to as the blue wall to deliver a 2024 re-election victory for President Joe Biden.Senate Democratic Policy and Communications Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) told The Hill that the blue wall was critical in both 2020‚ when Biden defeated former President Donald Trump‚ and in 2016 when Trump won over Democrat Hillary Clinton. Stabenow said she believes the president will fare well in her home state of Michigan‚ along with the other blue wall states‚ because the Biden administration is bringing jobs back.Basically‚ the Biden administration is doing everything that others including Donald Trump have talked about but were never really serious about doing‚ Stabenow added. President Biden is aiming right at the middle class: particularly‚ bringing jobs home. Rebuild America. You tackle costs‚ you take on the drug companies. Made in America.Sen. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) echoed Stabenows confidence‚ predicting that Biden would win in all three blue wall states by focusing on the economy‚ according to The Hill. Its too early to tell for sure‚ but I think the economy continues to grow‚ and were seeing the MAGA side of the Republican Party clearly making politics‚ trying to block making things better at the border‚ solving some of those problems‚ for political advantage‚ said Hickenlooper. In each of the past four presidential elections‚ the winner has taken all three blue wall states with Trump‚ in 2016‚ being the only Republican to win all three since Ronald Reagan did it in 1984. Currently‚ Trump leads Biden in Michigan and Wisconsin‚ according to the RealClearPolitcs average of polling‚ and Biden leads by less than one point in Pennsylvania.Trump leads in each of the other four battleground states‚ according to the RCP average‚ but Biden has recently cut into the Republcans polling advantage. According to the polling average as of Monday afternoon‚ Trump takes six of the seven toss-up states‚ giving him 293 electoral votes to Bidens 245.The Democrats who spoke to The Hill conceded that Biden pulling off wins in Arizona and Georgia would be tough this year‚ but they believe theres an open path for the president to win re-election without those two states. If Biden wins Michigan‚ Pennsylvania‚ and Wisconsin‚ along with the other states hes expected to take‚ that would give him exactly 270 electoral votes to Trumps 268.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPGenerally‚ the most reasonable way to predict future voting behavior is to look at past voting behavior. Pennsylvania‚ Michigan‚ Wisconsin are all states that‚ by and large‚ weve done pretty well in over the years 2016 being the outlier there‚ said Democratic strategist Steve Schale‚ a senior adviser on Obamas 2012 re-election campaign. Both Biden and Trump have visited Michigan and Wisconsin in recent days‚ with Trump focusing heavily on the border crisis and Biden narrowing in on his economic agenda‚ pro-abortion policies‚ and student debt relief efforts. Abortion will likely remain the top issue for the Biden campaign‚ especially in Michigan‚ where voters chose to add the right to have an abortion to the State Constitution.Trump released a statement on abortion policy on Monday morning‚ saying he supports states deciding abortion laws and is against federal abortion limitations. My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint‚ the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both‚ and whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case‚ the law of the state‚ Trump said.

Actor Jonathan Majors Sentenced To Probation‚ No Prison Time For Assault Conviction

Marvel star Jonathan Majors was sentenced to complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program on Monday‚ avoiding prison time after being convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriendGrace Jabbari.Judge Michael Gaffey sentenced the 34-year-old actor to conditional discharge‚ noting that Majors had no prior criminal record and that both sides agreed the charges didnt warrant jail time‚ the Associated Press reported.Last year‚ a Manhattan jury found Majors guilty of two misdemeanor assault counts‚ the New York Times reported. The judge said Majors must complete an in-person batterers intervention program and continue with mental health therapy. If he violates those terms‚ the actor could face a year behind bars. He was also ordered to have no contact with Jabbari‚ the AP noted.Jonathan Majors has now been sentenced after being convicted of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment back in December #THRNews pic.twitter.com/jD0cPxJoe1 The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) April 8‚ 2024Majors left the courtroom without speaking to the media. According to his attorney‚ Majors did not want to make a statement because of a pending civil suit Jabbari filed against him last month.Jabbari claimed Majors demonstrated a pattern of pervasive domestic abuse that began in 2021 and extended through 2023‚ People magazine noted. His lawyer said‚ This is no surprise. Mr. Majors is preparing counterclaims against Ms. Jabbari.Majors is committed to growing as a person and will complete any court-mandated programs with an open heart‚ Priya Chaudhry‚ his attorney‚ reportedly said.In January‚ Majors spoke to ABCs Good Morning America following the reckless assault conviction and said that he felt like it was time to tell his side of the story following the domestic dispute with Jabbari‚ adding that a lot has happened in his personal life and career.Majors denied he physically assaulted Jabbari when asked if he was responsible for any of her injuries‚ a fractured finger and cut behind her ear.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPI was reckless with her heart‚ not with her body‚ Majors replied. I should have been brave. I should have said‚ No‚ this isnt working. And I should have walked away‚ and I didntIf I leave the relationship‚ none of this is happening. When pressed about how Jabbari got the injuries‚ Majors said he had no idea.I wish to God I knew‚ Majors said. That would give clarity. That would give me some type of peace about it. [I] never hit a woman. My hands have never struck a woman‚ ever.Related: Actor Jonathan Majors Speaks Out For First Time Following Guilty Verdict In AssaultTrial

Garland Risks Contempt Of Congress As DOJ Spurns House GOP Demand For Biden Audio

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has chosen to rebuff House Republicans seeking audio of special counsel Robert Hurs interviews with President Joe Biden for a classified documents investigation despite a threat to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for defying their subpoenas.Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte wrote in a letter sent to House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Monday which was the deadline the congressional leaders set for the materials that a transcript for the two-day interview that was already provided to them should be sufficient. The Department is concerned that the Committees particular focus on continuing to demand information that is cumulative of information we already gave you what the President and Mr. Hurs team said in the interview indicates that the Committees interests may not be in receiving information in service of legitimate oversight or investigatory functions‚ but to serve political purposes that should have no role in the treatment of law enforcement files‚ Uriarte said.Comer and Jordan wrote to Garland two weeks ago‚ saying they received redacted transcripts of Hurs interview with Biden on March 12‚ just hours before the special counsel testified before the House. The chairmen again demanded audio recordings of Hurs interview with Biden‚ which they had stressed as a priority‚ and audio recordings of the special counsels interview with Bidens ghostwriter‚ Mark Zwonitzer‚ in compliance with subpoenas from February. If Garland failed to provide the materials by April 8‚ the committees will consider taking further action‚ such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings‚ they warned. The committees have already received the extraordinary accommodation of the transcripts‚ which gives you the information you say you need‚ Uriarte claimed. To go further by producing the audio files would compound the likelihood that future prosecutors will be unable to secure this level of cooperation. They might have a harder time obtaining consent to an interview at all. It is clearly not in the public interest to render such cooperation with prosecutors and investigators less likely in the future.Uriarte said his letter supplements previous responses to the panels and noted a transcript of Hurs interview with Zwonitzer was enclosed as further accommodation. He argued that the information provided does appear to resolve the concerns raised by Comer and Jordan related to legislative oversight of the DOJ and the impeachment inquiry against Biden. It was not immediately clear how Comer and Jordan would respond to the DOJs response in the clash over materials from Hurs investigation into Bidens handling of classified records. Seeming to anticipate an escalation‚ Uriarte pleaded how it is not too late for the Committees to choose a different path‚ to take on offramp towards the spirit of dynamic compromise that the Constitution requires of us both.Hurs report‚ which was released in February‚ criticized Bidens retention of classified records while out of office‚ yet the prosecutor declined to recommend charges. The report described Biden as a sympathetic‚ well-meaning‚ elderly man with a poor memory whom a jury likely would not convict of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPThe special counsel also found that Zwonitzer deleted recordings of conversations he had with Biden upon learning about the documents inquiry‚ but the ghostwriter provided plausible‚ innocent reasons for his actions and other materials. Ultimately‚ Hur said he determined the evidence would not suffice for a conviction on obstruction of justice.Biden and the White House have pushed back against Hurs characterizations in his report‚ but Garland insisted that it would have been absurd for someone in his position to have edited or censored the special counsels explanation.

Will And Jada Pinkett Smiths Charity Faces 83% Decline In Donations Following Oscars Slap‚ Rumored To Be Closing Soon: Report

Will and Jada Pinkett Smiths charity faced a steep decline in donations following the infamous slapping incident at the 2022 Oscars‚ per a new Variety report. The famous couple created the Will And Jada Smith Family Foundation in 1996 as a place to advocate for issues they cared about such as mental health‚ wellness‚ arts education‚ and sustainability‚ the outlet noted. But tax records indicate that donations plummeted after the 94th Academy Awards ceremony when Will stormed onto the stage and slapped event host Chris Rock across the face for making a joke about Jadas bald head. The incident has had long-lasting effects on the Men In Black star‚ who has since issued numerous public apologies. One apparent outcome was the decreased donation amounts to the Will And Jada Smith Family Foundation. Per data available on ProPublica‚ foundation revenue was $1‚760‚000 in 2020 and $2‚138‚660 in 2021. After the slap‚ filings for 2022 showed just $365‚870 in donations‚ representing a drop of 83% compared to the previous year. Variety noted that this decline was due in part to the withdrawal of major contributions from American Airlines and CAA‚ which had donated $76‚160 and $100‚000 in 2021 respectively. An unnamed source allegedly told the outlet that the Smiths were winding down the charity with the intention of shutting it down. The Smiths made headlines last year when Jada revealed they werent technically together anymore. The actress made the revelation in October 2023 that she and Will have been separated since 2016 despite presenting as a united front‚ as The Daily Wire previously reported. She told interviewer Hoda Kotb during an NBC News interview at the time‚ Why [the relationship] fractured thats a lot of things. By the time we got to 2016‚ we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be‚ she said.I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever‚ the celeb said of why they never officially divorced. I just havent been able to break that promise.Fans had previously been confused about Jada admitting to having a romantic relationship with another man while married to Will in 2020‚ which she discussed during an episode of her Red Table Talk series. This led to rumors that the Smiths were in an open marriage‚ which they didnt refute until years later when Jada admitted they were actually separated at the time of her entanglement.

The Unseen Health Crisis: How Lax Border Policies Are Exposing America to Disease Risks

In recent times‚ the United States has witnessed an unprecedented surge in migrant crossings at its southern border‚ with figures reaching almost 190‚000 in February 2024 alone. This influx‚ while a testament to the enduring appeal of the American dream‚ brings with it a less visible but equally significant threat: the risk of infectious diseases entering the country. Historically‚ America has been a fortress against many major diseases that have devastated other parts of the world‚ thanks to stringent public health measures and robust screening processes. However‚ the current situation at the border marks a departure from these practices‚ leaving the nation vulnerable.Dr. Harvey Risch‚ a seasoned epidemiologist‚ has voiced concerns over the inadequate health screening of immigrants crossing into the United States. His warnings are not unfounded; the lack of comprehensive health checks at the border stands in stark contrast to the rigorous examinations once conducted at Ellis Island‚ where immigrants were meticulously screened for contagious diseases before being allowed entry. This meticulous approach ensured that only healthy individuals could enter‚ thereby safeguarding the population from potential health crises.Joe Bidens open border is a health crisis‚ too. Diseases we had under control are coming backTuberculosis breaks out at Chicago migrant shelters following measles caseshttps://t.co/68gFWlTp0W Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) April 4‚ 2024Echoing Dr. Risch';s apprehensions‚ Dr. Marc Siegel from New York Universitys Langone Health highlighted the presence of diseases such as tuberculosis‚ COVID-19‚ hepatitis A and B‚ among migrants. Furthermore‚ internist Dr. James Hodges has pointed out the emergence of drug-resistant forms of tuberculosis‚ exacerbated by open border policies. These insights underscore the pressing need for a reassessment of health management strategies at the border to mitigate the risks of disease transmission. The comparison with Ellis Island';s stringent health checks is particularly poignant. Back then‚ doctors were vigilant for signs of contagious diseases like trachoma and tuberculosis‚ ensuring that anyone with questionable health was thoroughly examined. This historical precedent illustrates a time when public health was paramount‚ guiding immigration policies to protect both the newcomers and the resident population.Biden';s open border policy is importing dangerous pathogens to create another national health crisis. pic.twitter.com/cMtXTLl7C4 Samuel Williams (@pissedoffsam1) April 4‚ 2024Today‚ however‚ the scenario is markedly different. The absence of even basic health screenings such as temperature checks for most immigrants entering through the southern border exposes a glaring vulnerability in the nation';s defense against global pathogens. This oversight not only endangers the health of the American populace but also strains the healthcare system‚ which must now brace for potential outbreaks of diseases previously kept at bay.The implications of this oversight are far-reaching. For decades‚ Americans have enjoyed relative immunity from many infectious diseases‚ thanks to the country';s isolation and advanced healthcare infrastructure. However‚ the current laxity in border health protocols could erode this advantage‚ exposing the population to infections against which they have little to no immunity.Addressing this issue requires a multifaceted approach. Strengthening health screening procedures at the border is imperative‚ as is bolstering the healthcare system';s capacity to manage and contain outbreaks. Moreover‚ there is a need for a balanced discourse that acknowledges the humanitarian aspects of migration while prioritizing public health and safety. In conclusion‚ the United States stands at a crossroads. The choice is between maintaining an open-door policy without adequate health safeguards‚ thereby flirting with disaster‚ or reinstating stringent health checks to protect the nation';s health security. The lessons from Ellis Island serve as a reminder of the importance of vigilance in public health‚ especially in times of mass migration. As the country navigates this challenge‚ the decisions made today will shape the health landscape of tomorrow. How do you feel about the dangers of our open border? We want to hear from you! Forget Your Eclipse Glasses? Make A Pinhole Projector In A Crunch

If you forgot to grab a pair of eclipse glasses ahead of the solar eclipse‚ you dont have to miss the show. Make a pinhole projector instead. You probably have all the supplies in your home. The total solar eclipse is a rare event that wont happen in the United States again for another two decades‚ so be sure to get outside and watch! Its important that you dont look at the sun without approved eyewear‚ however. If you do‚ it could cause solar retinopathy‚ which creates symptoms such as blind spots‚ distortions‚ and more. Specially designed sunglasses are the easiest way to watch the event. The cheap eyewear blocks out more light than typical sunglasses. They should be lab-tested and need to meet a standard known as ISO 12312-2. If you dont have a pair of eclipse glasses on hand‚ your second best option is to make a pinhole viewer. These are also approved for viewing the show. To make one‚ all you need are two pieces of white card stock paper (white paper plates will also work)‚ tape‚ a pin (or a needle‚ paperclip‚ or pencil)‚ and aluminum foil. How To Make A Pinhole Projector or CameraTo create your viewer‚ cut a small hole in the middle of one piece of paper. Next‚ take a section of aluminum over the hole. Using the pin‚ poke a hole in the foil. Stand with your back against the sun and place the second piece of paper on the ground. When you hold the paper with aluminum foil above it‚ it will project an image of the solar eclipse on the paper. NASA gives a step-by-step tutorial here. If you want to get more crafty‚ you can also make a pinhole camera‚ which projects the image inside a cardboard box. The supplies are the same aside from needing the cardboard. A cereal box works perfectly! The solar eclipse will begin in the early afternoon and make its way across the path of totality for several hours. Caught On Camera: Total Solar Eclipse Dazzles In Chile

The total solar eclipse has officially kicked off its trek across the globe‚ and it made one of its first stops in Chile. Excited crowds are gathering along the path of totality today (April 8) to catch a glimpse of the rare event. And a group along the coast in Chile has already seen the show come and go. Someone caught a gorgeous video and shared it on X.In the video‚ hundreds of people cheer as they gaze at the sun over the shimmering ocean. The moon passes over the sun and quickly reaches totality. solar eclipse filmed in chile pic.twitter.com/A1bM68bb25 Shibetoshi Nakamoto (@BillyM2k) April 8‚ 2024 The video shows the total solar eclipse happening faster than it will in most of the United States. Some areas will be able to witness an event that lasts up to four minutes and 28 seconds‚ which is longer than the total solar eclipse that passed over the country in 2017.The total eclipse will continue to make its way through South America and North America throughout the afternoon. Those living in the United States who arent in the path of totality will be able to see a partial solar eclipse‚ which still offers striking views and strange events. A storm front has created cloudly conditions for parts of the country. If your area has poor visibility‚ you can watch a live stream of the eclipse on several platforms. Remember‚ If youre one of the lucky 36 million in the US who have a chance to see the total eclipse‚ wear your approved eye gear! If you forgot to grab a pair‚ you can make a pinhole viewer instead.
