Secretary of State Antony Blinken said over the weekend that the evidence he has seen of the sexual violence inflicted against Israelis on October 7 is unlike anything he has ever witnessed. Blinken made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper when asked why the United Nations and the international community has been so slow to condemn Hamas’ sexual atrocities. “I can’t think of a real reason‚” Tapper said. “Well‚ let me just put it this way. I have heard anti-Semitism hypothesized as a reason why the U.N. and the international community might be so slow to acknowledge this. What do you think?” Blinken said that he had no idea why “countries‚ leaders‚ international organizations were so slow to focus on this‚ to bring it to people’s attention. I’m glad it’s finally happened.” “The atrocities that we saw on October 7 are almost beyond human description or beyond our capacity to digest‚” he said. “And we have talked about them before. Former Vice President Al Gore said over the weekend that he was “shocked” by remarks that the president of his alma mater made last week while testifying before Congress. Gore made remarks while speaking to Jake Tapper on Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” about comments made by Harvard President Claudine Gay. “I also have to ask you‚ sir‚ because you are a Harvard alum‚” Tapper said. “The presidents of Harvard‚ Penn‚ and MIT were before Congress this past week‚ and they were asked whether or not it — explicitly calling for the genocide of Jews on their campus would constitute harassment‚ and they seemed to struggle with that‚ although the presidents of Penn and Harvard issued clarifying statements.” “And I was wondering what your reaction to it‚ as somebody who has been a strong supporter of the Jewish community‚ a strong supporter of Israel‚ and also‚ as I noted‚ a proud Harvard alum‚” Tapper said. Perhaps CNN analyst Van Jones might want to check his memory banks before blasting someone for acknowledging something that Jones himself has discussed as a very real issue. On Wednesday‚ following the GOP presidential debate in Tuscaloosa‚ Jones went on a very emotional rampage denouncing Vivek Ramaswamy for daring to mention a subject that Democrats have often discussed‚ namely the Great Replacement Theory. And one of those who have discussed and analyzed that theory was Van Jones himself‚ just two years ago. Ramaswamy said during the debate‚ “The great replacement theory is not some grand right-wing conspiracy theory‚ but a basic statement of the Democratic party’s platform.” This is not an outrageous statement. It's so common it's a cliche. See Philip Elliott in Time in 2021: "It’s become something of a cliché in Washington for Democratic strategists to assert that 'demographics are destiny.' What they mean is that the diversifying electorate—and the shrinking role of white voters—will render Republicans incapable of sustaining power for much longer." The conspiracy theory is that opening the southern border is a conscious political strategy to create that demographic destiny. But let's observe a very angry Van Jones on Wednesday denouncing Ramaswamy as a demagogue for even broaching the subject during the debate: Van Jones was "shaking" as Vivek spoke. An illegal immigrant was arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder of a teen cheerleader at Edna High School in Texas‚ according to police. The Edna Police Department and the Texas Rangers arrested Rafael Govea Romero in Schulenburg‚ Texas. The Edna Police Department said in a statement that the arrest was done through the coordination of several agencies‚ including nearby police departments‚ Texas Rangers‚ and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Romero was taken to the Jackson County Jail and charged with the capital murder of 16-year-old Lizbeth Medina. The Edna Police Department noted that Romero is an "undocumented male.""Although Romero is apprehended‚ we recognize Lizbeth's family and friends are grieving and will still need support from the community‚" Edna Police Chief Rick Boone stated. Lizbeth Medina was found dead in her apartment on Dec. 5. Medina's dead body was discovered in a bathtub by her mother.Jacqueline Medina‚ Lizbeth's mother‚ got worried after she hadn't heard from her for several hours. "I decided to go look for her. And I kept calling her phone nonstop‚ and it would take me straight to voicemail… I called a bunch of people and nobody knew anything. It wasn't until I walked into the restroom that I was on the phone with my friend asking him to come help me look for her – is when I [saw] her foot‚ and it was in the bathtub. And so I opened the curtains.
