TikTok said on Sunday that it was restoring service after it briefly went offline on Saturday in response to a new U.S. law that forces its parent company, ByteDance, to be completely divested from TikTok or else be banned in the U.S. “In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service,” TikTok said in a statement. “We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive.” TikTok claimed that the issue was about “the First Amendment” and “arbitrary censorship” when, in reality, it’s about the company harvesting the data of Americans that can be used to weaponize algorithms to impact how Americans think and behave in line with interests of communist China. The statement comes after Trump, who led the charge to ban TikTok during his first term in office, posted on social media that he was asking companies to let TikTok stay online. Trump said that he wants the United States to own 50% of TikTok and said that allowing China to still own the other half would not be a problem. CELEBRATE #47 WITH 47% OFF DAILYWIRE+ MEMBERSHIPS + A FREE $20 GIFT “I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the period of time before the law’s prohibitions take effect, so that we can make a deal to protect our national security,” he said. “The order will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped keep TikTok from going dark before my order.” However, even if Trump issues an executive order on TikTok, there are certain conditions that must be met to allow for the 90-day extension, which include the president having to certify to Congress that: (A) a path to executing a qualified divestiture has been identified with respect to such application; (B) evidence of significant progress toward executing such qualified divestiture has been produced with respect to such application; and (C) there are in place the relevant binding legal agreements to enable execution of such qualified divestiture during the period of such extension. Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Tom Cotton (R-AR) slammed TikTok’s statement in a post on X. “Any company that hosts, distributes, services, or otherwise facilitates communist-controlled TikTok could face hundreds of billions of dollars of ruinous liability under the law, not just from DOJ, but also under securities law, shareholder lawsuits, and state AGs,” Cotton posted on X. “Think about it.”

President-elect Donald Trump said that he expects to travel to California to survey fire damage as part of his first week back in office. Trump told NBC News that he plans to visit Los Angeles to see where deadly fires have raged for over a week and consumed tens of thousands of acres. The incoming president said he was first planning to go last Friday, but wanted to wait until he was sworn in as president. “I will be, probably, at the end of the week,” Trump told NBC News on Saturday. “I was going to go, actually yesterday … but I thought it would be better if I went as president. It’s a little bit more appropriate, I suspect.” Two of the Los Angeles fires, the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, have yet to be fully contained. The Palisades Fire has burned some 23,713 acres and is only 52% contained while the Eaton Fire has burned 14,021 acres and is just 81% contained. At least 27 people are dead as a result of the fires while 31 people are still reportedly missing. Trump has been very critical of how top California Democrats, including Governor Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, have handled the fires. “One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning down to the ground,” Trump posted on Truth Social on January 8. “It’s ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. Now the ultimate price is being paid. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this. On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!” Trump added.

The Washington Post published a report on Wednesday about its “exit interview” with Jill Biden in which the first lady was quoted mentioning how she was thinking “a lot” about relationships and took a dig at Nancy Pelosi. “We were friends for 50 years,” Jill Biden said. “It was disappointing.” As reported by Martin, Nancy Pelosi has received a wave of “messages, flowers and calls of concern from heads of state, colleagues in both parties and even royalty” since breaking her hip in Europe last month, but “it’s who she has not heard from that’s most remarkable, and that has infuriated Pelosi’s friends and family: Joe and Jill Biden.” Martin wrote that he was informed that Nancy Pelosi has tried multiple times to speak with Joe Biden, only to be turned down. “She’s been told they’re not over it, don’t make more overtures because he’s blaming her,” an insider told the columnist. Martin’s report also noted that “Biden did briefly chat with Pelosi, her husband, Paul, and daughter Christine at a White House holiday party last month. But that encounter only served to remind them of the rupture.”

Protesters at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., argued that Donald Trump presents a serious threat to women’s rights and American freedoms — but failed to provide concrete examples of how the president-elect will actually do that. The Daily Wire attended the Women’s March on Saturday morning in the nation’s capital, where thousands of anti-Trump and left-leaning protestors gathered to voice their opinions on a wide variety of topics: Trump himself, abortion, transgender issues, immigration, climate change, and more. “I marched in 2017,” one woman told The Daily Wire, holding a sign that read, “I can’t believe I have to do this shit twice.” “I’m mad about a lot of things, but this is really what it boils down to,” she said, pointing to her sign. This means that we traveled A LOT on the Navajo rez. And we also usually stayed at hotels when we would head out to play and come home in the morning but this trip was a little bit different. I remember the basketball coach saying that the school didn't have enough money to put the team in a hotel that trip so we were going to be on the road for a total of about 12 hours.I was the only male senior to play basketball that season. We had just finished playing our game and headed home on our bus "Big Blue." We were headed out and it wasn't long, about 2 hours of driving, before we had entered the rez. By this time, everyone was asleep with it being about 2 in the morning.When we had crossed the rez's border I noticed the bus driver had sped up and was now going about 85 mph. I was seated right behind him. I thought this was a little weird because he never exceeded the speed limit, at least not in my high school career. For some reason, I couldn't fall asleep like the rest of my teammates, and I just sat at the back of the bus staring out across the desolate desert landscape that was lit up by the full moon.As I looked out, I could see a figure running towards the bus at an angle of pursuit, keeping up with the bus at 85 mph. As the figure got closer I saw that it was a humanoid form. As a matter of fact, it looked exactly like a human, only that the face was painted half black and half white with glowing eyes. Glowing eyes like a rabbit's eyes reflecting light from a spotlight. I immediately thought, 'Holy crap! It's a skinwalker!'The skinwalker ran up to the edge of the road and just kept up pace with the bus hurdling sagebrush and rocks while staring at me. After I made eye contact with the thing, I COULD NOT look away. It was as if something was holding my head and eyes in place. The skinwalker just smiled at me this inhuman smile that went ear-to-ear, showing crooked, yellow, pointed teeth. I felt like I was going to throw up and I was panicking through the whole ordeal. The skinwalker started to crumple down onto all fours, still keeping up with the bus. I could see his bones crack and reform, hair started appearing all over the skinwalker's body, and in about 3 seconds was now a coyote and it ran off back into the desert out of view. As soon as it was gone, I ran to the onboard bathroom and threw up!I didn't want to tell anyone for fear they would think I was crazy. I confided in my Navajo friend. She told me that I needed to see the chief, who also happened to be a friend of mine and get a blessing. I saw him the next school day in the parking lot. He just came up to me and mumbled something in Navajo while waving a feathered scepter-like thing, turned around, got in his truck, and drove away.To this day, I haven't seen another skinwalker. It might be due to the fact I moved away from that town and rez, and, if I do have to go south, I go around, WAY around."
