A Washington state judge has slashed the bail amount for an illegal migrant accused of killing a state trooper in a crash from $1 million down to just $100,000. Raul Benitez Santana, 32, is charged with vehicular assault and vehicular homicide involving alcohol or drugs in connection with the March death of Washington state trooper Christopher Gadd, 27. Judge Richard Okrent of Snohomish County Superior Court reduced Santana’s bail on May 15, and jail records show his original $1 million bail was lowered to $100,000. The illegal migrant is accused of consuming cannabis and beer before driving 112 mph on the I-5 south just north of Seattle, according to the Everett Herald. He allegedly drove on the shoulder where he crashed into Gadd’s parked patrol car. Gadd died at the scene. Santana has been held at the Snohomish County Jail since the deadly crash. Santana’s defense lawyers had argued for his release, arguing that he is not a risk to commit additional crimes and that he would appear at court hearings. Santana has several misdemeanors for driving with a suspended license, but no felony convictions. “If released, his parents will welcome him back into their home,” the defense team wrote. “He is not a flight risk.” The state trooper’s widow objected to releasing her husband’s killer. “Reducing bail would not only undermine the severity of the crime but also inflict further anguish and distress upon me, our child, and the rest of our family,” Cammryn Gadd wrote in a letter to the judge. His father is also a Washington state trooper. Hundreds of police officers attended a memorial service for him in March. Santana is a Mexican citizen who entered the U.S. illegally at an unknown time, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official told Fox News. ICE placed an immigration detainer on Santana after he was arrested. Santana’s defense lawyers are reportedly concerned that he could be deported if he posts bail. Gadd’s death is one of several recent deaths allegedly caused by migrants who entered the country illegally. In February, a 26-year-old Venezuelan man who was in the country illegally spotted 22-year-old University of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley while she was out on her morning run, dragged her into a secluded area and killed her, according to authorities. In October, a three-year-old girl was killed when an illegal immigrant who did not have a driver’s license allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into the girl’s family’s SUV.

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley said on Wednesday that she will be voting for former President Donald Trump this fall over President Joe Biden. Haley made the remarks during a question and answer session at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C., when asked who she thought would do better on national security. “As a voter, I put my priorities on a president who’s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account, [and] who would secure the border. No more excuses,” Haley said. “A president who would support capitalism and freedom. A president who understands we need less debt, not more debt. Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I’ve made that clear many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe.” “So I will be voting for Trump,” Haley continued. “Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me and not assume that they’re just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that.” Haley stopped short of giving Trump a full-throated endorsement, something that she had pledged to do when she was competing in the Republican Party primary earlier this year. More than 500 Harvard University students, faculty, alumni, and other affiliates have now signed onto a letter urging action against escalating anti-Semitism on campus. Sent to interim Harvard President Alan Garber Tuesday, the letter calls for “significant consequences” for the leaders of the 20-day anti-Israel encampment in Harvard Yard. “While some have tried to associate the encampment with the long history of protests on Harvard’s campus, this one is distinct for its calls for violence and its active and targeted disruption of the lives of an identifiable group of minority students,” the letter states. Signatures are still being collected. The letter comes after members of the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences overwhelmingly voted to allow 13 students to graduate despite their suspension or probation for participating in the encampment. The Harvard Corporation broke with the faculty on Wednesday and declined to give the degrees. The letter claims students documented “numerous instances of inappropriate and egregious conduct, including harassment, denial of equal access to common areas on Harvard property, and threats of violence towards Jewish and Israeli students or their allies.” Some Jewish and Israeli members of the Harvard community avoided walking through Harvard Yard to avoid anti-Semitism, and first-year students have complained that they have been unable to focus on their studies because of the disrupters, according to the letter. “Some took extended breaks from campus before the end of the spring semester because they felt unsafe,” the letter states. The encampment ended last week after the university negotiated with the protesters, reportedly agreeing to leniency for those facing disciplinary action and allowing encampment leaders to meet with governing boards about divesting from Israel. The letter expresses disappointment over several professors’ participation in the protest, accusing them of creating a hostile learning environment.  “The involvement of Harvard faculty in these encampments, endorsing and sometimes leading teach-ins and chants, has created an unsafe learning environment for many Jews and Israelis,” the letter states. “This not only contradicts Harvard’s commitment to an inclusive educational experience but also emboldens extremist elements within our student body.” During the encampment, Harvard Yard was largely restricted to university affiliates until a community member used bolt cutters to open a gate and allow 150 protesters onto campus, according to campus police. The letter describes this situation as a “severe escalation” that risked a crisis by bringing outside agitators onto campus. Complaints were also raised regarding the encampments’ so-called “marshalls” — students in yellow vests claiming they are ensuring people’s safety. “Additionally, self-appointed encampment ‘marshals’ in Harvard Yard have been stalking people who appear to be Jewish, speak Hebrew, or simply speak to other people who look Jewish,” the letter states. Although Garber condemned intimidation and harassment from the encampment earlier this month, the letter states that the “galling acts” continued.  “[T]he actions that culminated in the 20-day occupation of Harvard Yard have been poisoned by dehumanizing rhetoric and calls to violence against Jewish and Israeli individuals,” the letter states. “In addition, they have chanted for the ethnic cleansing of Israelis, and for violence against Jews. And they have held signs declaring ‘from the water to the water, Palestine will be Arab,’ along with large maps depicting the entire State of Israel as an imagined “Arab Palestine.”  The letter also describes a “chilling” protest on Sunday outside of Garber’s home. “For those of us who witnessed the march to your house on 5/19/24, the experience was particularly terrifying. President Garber, over 200 people stood outside your home, the residence of a Jewish family, and chanted ‘globalize the Intifada’ and ‘Intifada coming to America’. The scene was chilling.” The letter states that Garber’s current punishment of students is not enough, and accuses the university of rewarding their behavior with meetings while not giving the same to pro-Israel students. “Not only have the consequences for these encampers been insufficient, they have actually been rewarded for their blatant disregard of Harvard policy,” the letter states. “According to the Crimson, in exchange for ending their illegal encampment, HOOP members were offered a meeting with at least one member of the Corporation Committee on Shareholder Responsibility.” Other demands in the letter include that the university publicly condemn anti-Semitism, enhance its investigative process, and enforce penalties. Nearly 500 Harvard affiliates — including 350 faculty members — signed onto a letter Monday condemning the disciplinary action taken against the anti-Israel encampment protesters.

Former President Donald Trump now leads incumbent President Joe Biden in five of seven swing states and is tied with him in one more, a recent poll found. The poll of registered voters, conducted by Bloomberg News/Morning Consult from May 7th to the 13th, found that Trump has a four point lead over Biden across all swing states. The former president is up by five points in Arizona, seven points in North Carolina, three points in Georgia, and two points in Pennsylvania, as well as one point in Wisconsin. Trump and Biden are tied in Nevada while the Democrat has just a one point lead over Trump in Michigan. The poll of 4,962 registered swing state voters has a margin of error of one point. Though Trump enjoys leads in the majority of swing states, the race has tightened since last month when the former president had stronger advantages, most notably in Wisconsin and Georgia. Those surveyed were also relatively pessimistic about the economy, with 55 percent saying that the economy in their state was headed in the wrong direction as opposed to 45 percent who said that it is going in the right direction. The poll findings come as Trump and the Republican National Committee outraised Biden and the Democratic National Committee last month marking a reversal of the trends in March when Biden and the Democrats outraised Trump and the Republicans. The public opinion survey from Bloomberg News/Morning Consult is one more in a growing number of polls that could spell trouble for the Democratic incumbent. An ABC News/Ipsos poll recently found that voters trust Trump to handle the economy, immigration, and crime more than they trust Biden. The three issues are set to be some of the top concerns among voters in the presidential election. A wider share of voters also indicated that they approve of Trump’s performance in office compared to Biden’s, one Harvard Harris poll revealed. Voters also appear to be in favor of Trump’s flagship promises on immigration. One recent survey found that 61 percent of Independents believe that we should deport illegal immigrants, one of the key cornerstones of Trump’s 2024 immigration agenda.

The Harvard Corporation broke with the university’s faculty on Wednesday, and voted to deny thirteen seniors from graduating on Thursday because they broke university rules by participating in the 20-day long anti-Israel encampment. Despite the faculty group overwhelmingly voting to confer the degrees to the anti-Israel students, the Corporation cited the student handbook rules requiring good standing for graduation in their decision. “Today, we have voted to confer 1,539 degrees to Harvard College students in good standing,” the Corporation wrote in a statement on Wednesday, according to the Harvard Crimson. “Because the students included as the result of Monday’s amendment are not in good standing, we cannot responsibly vote to award them degrees at this time.” The Corporation is the university’s highest governing body and consists of 13 members, including Harvard’s interim president, Alan Garber. The annual Faculty of Arts and Sciences is a sparsely attended meeting where faculty vote to approve the list of degrees for conferral, according to the Crimson. Student Shraddha Joshi posted an email on her Instagram that informed her that she would not be graduating this spring.  “Because of your probation, you are not a student in good standing under the express provisions of the Harvard College Student Handbook, and as a result, the Corporation did not vote to confer your degree,” it states. Joshi is a co-organizer of the October statement blaming Hamas’s terror attack on Israel, according to Canary Mission. Although during the meeting members made the case that they had the authority to allow the students to graduate and approve disciplinary actions, the Corporation disagreed that this power applied in this situation. “We respect each faculty’s responsibility to determine appropriate discipline for its students,” the Corporation wrote. “Monday’s faculty vote did not, however, revisit these disciplinary rulings, did not purport to engage in the individualized assessment of each case that would ordinarily be required to do so, and, most importantly, did not claim to restore the students to good standing.” The Corporation also mentioned concerns about the precedent breaking the handbook rules could set.  “We also considered the inequity of exempting a particular group of students who are not in good standing from established rules, while other seniors with similar status for matters unrelated to Monday’s faculty amendment would be unable to graduate,” the Corporation wrote. The 20-day encampment drew criticism from many Harvard affiliates including Garber himself who said the protesters were disruptive, caused events and exams to move, and had situations where people were harassed and followed.  “The encampment favors the voices of a few over the rights of many who have experienced disruption in how they learn and work at a critical time of the semester,” Garber wrote in a May 6 statement threatening suspension. “I call on those participating in the encampment to end the occupation of Harvard Yard.” The encampment ended last week after administrators negotiated with the anti-Israel students, reportedly agreeing to be lenient to those facing disciplinary action and allowing them to meet with governing boards about divesting from Israel. On Friday, the Harvard College Administrative Board suspended five students and placed more than 20 more on probation, according to the Crimson.

It’s a day ending in “y.” Therefore, it’s time for the Left to spread a new myth about Donald Trump. On Tuesday, the Biden team got hot and bothered about a video Trump posted on his Truth Social platform showing how he is successful, which he later deleted. The video had taken some stock newspaper files and pasted in new headlines. One newspaper headline said, “What’s next for America?” Beneath that, there were some smaller headlines from the World War II era, and one of them said, “Industrial strength significantly increased, driven by the creation of a unified Reich.” Screenshot. You had to zoom in to really see it clearly, but that was enough to declare Trump a Nazi.  Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said the video was not a campaign video, was created by a random account online, and then reposted by a staffer — who clearly did not see the word — while former President Trump was in court. Let’s be clear about what’s actually happening here: Joe Biden’s party is split between people who are fine with today’s Nazis, such as Hamas or the Iranian regime, and people who are not. That is a battle that is being waged inside the Democratic Party. There’s no question at this juncture in time that the party that is more associated with open anti-Semitism in the United States is the Democratic Party. There are open anti-Semites sitting in the Democratic Party caucus being treated with kid gloves by the Biden administration. In fact, the Biden administration has gone so far as to put out a State Department report showing no evidence of Israeli war crimes and say there might be a reason to think Israel is doing war crimes, even though there is no evidence of such. Biden called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire just recently, with Hamas still in control of parts of the Gaza Strip, including American hostages. He announced to Israel that if they went into Rafah in a way he didn’t like, then he would simply remove particular armaments meant for Israel.  Thus, Democrats have to come up with some counter-narrative whereby Trump is the real threat to the Jews, that he is the serious anti-Semite. Does anyone rationally think the serious anti-Semitism problem in this election lies with Donald Trump? Does anyone really believe that? I would love to see just one iota of evidence. Trump is the person you have to fear. So in response to this dumb video that had a headline that was barely visible and was clearly a mistake by the person who put the thing together, Biden’s Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates said: As you know, we follow the law and do not comment on the 2024 election. It is abhorrent, sickening, and disgraceful for anyone to promote content associated with Germany’s Nazi government under Adolf Hitler, just as it is disgraceful to dine with neo-Nazis, or to say there were very fine people on both sides after Charlottesville, or to falsely claim that Hitler did some good things. Any anti-Semitic dog whistling is dangerous and offensive and profoundly un-American. James Singer, a spokesperson for the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign snapped: America, stop scrolling and pay attention. Donald Trump is not playing games; he is telling America exactly what he intends to do if he regains power: rule as a dictator over a ‘unified Reich.’ Parroting Mein Kampf while you warn of a bloodbath if you lose is the type of unhinged behavior you get from a guy who knows that democracy continues to reject his extreme vision of chaos, division, and violence. This is a giant misdirect. At this moment, is there any question about which party is more closely tied to today’s Nazis? At its highest levels, the Democratic Party seems to believe if they say Nazis are bad, the only Nazis that have ever existed were the Nazis. But as far as today’s modern analogs, such as Hamas or Iran? Those are people worth negotiating with. Those people might become responsible actors on the world stage. Remember when Trump suggested that Biden’s border policies, if left in place, would lead to a bloodbath in America, and this was twisted by the media to suggest Trump was threatening a bloodbath in which his followers killed people if he lost the election? Then, Joy Behar on The View — who is single-handedly capable of powering a very small wattage light bulb using her intellectual firepower — has suggested if you wear a MAGA hat, you might as well be wearing a swastika, which is truly amazing because 90% of Orthodox Jews are going to vote for Trump. And given Biden’s predilections in the Middle East, we’ll walk over broken glass to do so. It is truly amazing the lengths to which the Democratic Party and their friends in the media will go to in order to smear Trump with the most bizarre and stupid things. And they somehow think that this is going to win them the election. This is politics for dumb people.
