The 60s band that Robert Plant said that was incredible

The legendary Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant was born in 1948 and was a teenager when the music scene was exploding  in the United Kingdom in the 60s. He had the chance to see many incredible bands that would later become extremely successful when they were still at beginning, playing in small clubs. So he had seen many fantastic acts during that decade before he joined Zeppelin and there is one band that he said once that was incredible. The 60s band that Robert Plant said that was incredible When he was young, Robert Plant used to live in the region of the West Midlands, in Birmingham, England. Many incredible bands appeared there and one of them was the Spencer Davis Group. He was lucky enough to have seen them performing live at the time and in an interview with BBC Radio 6 in 2022 (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage), he said they were just incredible. During that conversation, the musician picked some of his favorite songs of all time and one of the songs chosen was "Stevie's Blues", released in 1966. “So many fantastic groups in the West Midlands, in Birmingham, there was an incredible group called The Spencer Davis Group. This is a track that really brings and highlights the great gift that Steve Winwood has, continues to have and can actually exercise whenever he feels like it. So this is ‘Stevie’s Blues’,” Robert Plant said. Formed in Birmingham in 1963, The Spencer Davis Group became one of the most influential bands from the 60s. Being especially known for their powerful sound and the incredible voice of Steve Winwood. They also are best-known for hits like “Keep On Running”, “I’m A Man” and “Gimme Some Lovin'”. Steve Windwood joined Spencer Davis Group when he was only 14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNDF7HhoyqI&pp=ygUic3RldmllJ3MgYmx1ZXMgc3BlbmNlciBkYXZpcyBncm91cA%3D%3D Robert Plant and Steve Winwood were both born in 1948, but Steve started his musical career at the age of 13 in 1961. He was found by Spencer Davis in 1963, when he was still 14. At the time, he already was a talented singer and organist. And of course, was a crucial part of the band's sound. So when you hear the band's hit "Keep On Running", you are hearing a 17 year-old Winwood on vocals. But obviously, the group was led by Spencer Davis, who was the guitarist, harmonica player and sometimes singer. The band was active from 1963 until 1969 and then from 1973 to 1974. But Winwood was only a member from 1963 to 1967, when he left and formed Traffic with Jim Capaldi. Spencer Davis Group was then active from 2006 to 2020 but with two different line-ups. One in the United Kingdom and other in the United States. Only Spencer himself was part of both versions of the band. Spencer passed away in 2020 at the age of 81, a victim of pneumonia. Spencer Davis Group released only eight studio albums, the final one being "Vibrate" in 1986. But Spencer also released solo records over the decades. His final solo record "Just Passing Through", released in 2000. The post The 60s band that Robert Plant said that was incredible appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Biden says Trump 'should' have opportunity to appeal conviction, grins and ignores questions

President Biden said Friday after former President Donald Trump was found guilty in his New York criminal trial "he'll be given the opportunity, as he should, to appeal that decision, just like everyone else has that opportunity." Biden added that it was "reckless, it's dangerous, it's irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don't like the verdict." A jury on Thursday convicted Trump on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. "The...

RFK Jr. Speaks Out on Donald Trump Conviction

Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy has condemned Donald Trump's conviction following his high-profile hush money criminal trial. On Thursday, Trump was found guilty of all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment. The former president was accused of arranging shortly before the 2016 election for his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to pay adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about a sexual encounter she alleges she had with Trump...

Mussed-Looking Trump Goes on Wild Free Associative Rant at Post-Conviction Press Conference

Donald Trump gave a bizarre press conference Friday on the morning after he became the first former American president to be criminally convicted, variously wheeling out his favorite gripes about his prosecution and bragging about how much money he’s raised in the wake of the verdict. Speaking at a news conference at Trump Tower in New York City, the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee renewed his bogus claims that Joe Biden was responsible for his trial and insisted that he did nothing...

Listen to this organ in Croatia that uses the sea to make hauntingly beautiful music

In 2005, a Croatian architect designed a 230-foot-long organ that turns the rhythm of the waves into actual music. Nope, not nonsensical bellows or chaotic tones. Real, actual, music. Most of us have never seen, or heard, anything like it.Imagine walking along the picturesque Adriatic Sea, treading lightly on a set of white stone steps as a cool breeze rolls past.Carved into the steps are narrow channels that connect to 35 organ pipes, each tuned to different meticulously arranged musical chords. As the waves lap against the steps, they push air through the pipes and out whistle-holes in the surface above, making a harmonious and completely random musical arrangement. But you don't see what's happening below the surface. You close your eyes and all you hear is a song like you've never heard before, one completely unique to the movement of the sea at that exact moment.Take a listen: Here's what it sounded like at one particular moment, on one particular day. On any other day, it might sound completely different.(Hit the orange button to hear it.)srb445 · Sea Organ, Zadar, CroatiaPretty amazing, right? The Sea Organ, or the Morske Orgulje, is an incredible feat of architecture designed to bring life back to one of the world's oldest cities.Zadar, a 3,000-year-old city on the coast of Croatia, was almost completely destroyed in World War II –– so many of its ancient landmarks lost forever. Years after a rebuilding that featured lots of plain, concrete structures, award-winning architect Nikola Bašić was brought in to bring some delight back to the coastline. That's when he came up with the idea.No doubt he was inspired by the hydraulis — a nifty little instrument built by the ancient Greeks that used water to push air through tuned pipes — or even the Wave Organ in San Francisco — a set of curved tubes built in the 1980s that amplify the gurgles and howls of the Pacific Ocean. But the intricate design of the Sea Organ is what sets it apart and makes it truly something to marvel at.This article originally appeared on 11.06.15

A 9-yr-old cheerleader’s veteran dad couldn't help with her routine, so a high schooler ran to her side

Addie Rodriguez was supposed to take the field with her dad during a high school football game, where he, along with other dads, would lift her onto his shoulders for a routine. But Addie's dad was halfway across the country, unable to make the event. Her father is Abel Rodriguez, a veteran airman who, after tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was training at Travis Air Force Base in California, 1,700 miles from his family in San Antonio at the time."Mom missed the memo it was parent day, and the reason her mom missed the memo was her dad left Wednesday," said Alexis Perry-Rodriguez, Addie's mom. She continued, "It was really heartbreaking to see your daughter standing out there being the only one without their father, knowing why he's away. It's not just an absentee parent. He's serving our country."But as Addie sat there in front of the game's crowd, with no one to join her on the field, someone ran toward her. That person was Central Catholic High School senior Matthew Garcia, who went to her after realizing she was the only cheerleader without a partner.Garcia told local news station FOX 29, "I ran down from the bleachers right here, and I just hopped the fence, and I went over, and I kneeled down, I talked to her and I said, 'Are you OK?'"He then lifted Addie onto his shoulders just like the dads did with their daughters so she could participate in the routine. Many onlookers quickly realized they were witnessing an extraordinary act of kindness, and social media was abuzz: @Harvard hopeful @matt_garcia_ exhibits the true measure of a man! Read about him on ABC News & GMA today/tomorrow!https://news4sanantonio.com/news/local/student-rescues-cheerleader-whose-military-dad-couldnt-attend-performance\u00a0\u2026 — Central Catholic HS (@Central Catholic HS) 1476293152 It may have been a small gesture for Garcia, but as Addie tells it, that little bit of assistance meant the world to her. They posed for a picture after the routine was done, and it's clear this will be one encounter she won't soon forget."I just felt like somebody saved my life," Addie said, adding, "I thought that's so nice, especially since my dad's serving for us.”Watch the YouTube video below:This article originally appeared on 08.21.18
