Former President Donald Trump reportedly met with Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel on Monday — just one day after Trump said in an interview that he would likely recommend changes in the RNC. Trump and McDaniel met for a discussion at the GOP frontrunner’s Mar-a-Lago estate‚ two people familiar with the meeting told POLITICO. After the meeting‚ Trump posted on his Truth Social account‚ praising his “friend” McDaniel for her past work helping him win Michigan in 2016. He then wrote that he will soon make “recommendations for RNC Growth.” “Things are looking great in the Presidential Race of 2024 against Crooked Joe Biden. We have Leads‚ in many cases substantial‚ in virtually every Head-to-Head Poll. The Primary seems to be over‚ but I’ll be going to South Carolina next week to finish off a very unpopular Candidate‚” Trump began his post. “On Thursday‚ I’m heading to Nevada for the Nevada Caucus‚ where there are 26 Delegates – Hopefully‚ we’ll get most of them‚” he continued. “In my successful run in 2016‚ the State of Michigan really came through – First time in Decades that it was won by a Republican‚ and it was headed up by my friend Ronna McDaniel. Trump’s meeting with the RNC chairwoman and his follow-up post came just a day after Fox News aired an interview with the former president where Trump was asked by host Maria Bartiromo about McDaniel. “I think she did great when she ran Michigan for me. I think she did OK‚ initially‚ in the RNC. I would say right now‚ there’ll probably be some changes made‚” Trump said. The former president has also criticized the RNC for hosting debates for which he declined to take the stage. Trump challenged Biden on Monday during an appearance on The Dan Bongino Show. After winning contests in Iowa and New Hampshire‚ Trump is still facing a challenge from his former U.N. ambassador‚ Nikki Haley‚ in the GOP primary. But he has his sights set on Biden. “He can’t do it‚ because he can’t talk. He can’t do anything. He’s ruining our country. And I don’t think he’s going to run — I don’t know if it’s donors or otherwise. It might be his family‚ it might be something‚” said Trump‚ according to the New York Post. “I’d like to debate him now because we should debate for the good of the country.” Biden responded to Trump while speaking with reporters in Las Vegas. “If I were him‚ I’d want to debate me‚ too. He’s got nothing else to do‚” said Biden. The president did not say whether he would accept the invitation to debate. Trump refused to take part in a series of GOP primary debates‚ posting on Truth Social in August that “the public knows who I am &; what a successful Presidency I had.” “I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!” he wrote. During an interview with Fox News in June‚ he asked host Bret Baier: “Why would I allow people at 1 or 2% and 0% to be hitting me with questions all night?” In a hypothetical Trump v. The Real Clear Politics polling average shows Trump leading Biden by more than two points‚ 46.7 to 44.6. Respondents to the poll said Trump is stronger than Biden on border security 57% to 22%‚ handling the economy 55% to 33%‚ dealing with crime 50% to 29%‚ and improving the United States’ standing in the world 47% to 36%. Biden led Trump slightly on the issue of protecting democracy‚ 43% to 41%. The president also held an edge over Trump on abortion (44%-32%) and protecting the rights of immigrants (48%-31%).

A federal appeals court on Tuesday ruled that former President Donald Trump does not have presidential immunity from prosecution of alleged criminal acts relating to 2020 election interference. The appeal was made to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit by the Trump team in connection to special counsel Jack Smith’s election interference case in the U.S. District Court in Washington‚ D.C. “We have balanced former President Trump’s asserted interests in executive immunity against the vital public interests that favor allowing this prosecution to proceed‚” the three-judge panel opinion said. “We conclude that ‘[c]oncerns of public policy‚ especially as illuminated by our history and the structure of our government’ compel the rejection of his claim of immunity in this case‚” the panel said‚ upholding a trial judge’s earlier ruling. The panel is composed of two judges appointed by Democrats and one appointed by a Republican. Smith wants the trial to move ahead as soon as possible‚ seemingly trying to avoid the possible outcome of Trump — the Republican nominee frontrunner — winning the 2024 election. The U.S. Supreme Court could in theory reject to hear the question on immunity and the appeals court’s decision would stand. But if the high court does take up the case‚ the decision could derail Smith’s case or delay it past the 2024 election. Following the appeal decision‚ legal analyst and attorney Jonathan Turley emphasized to Fox News that the Supreme Court doesn’t share the same “urgency” as Smith‚ regarding the case. “The interesting dynamic about this case is that Jack Smith has been telling every court that ‘it’s absolutely urgent that we move this trial forward’ and he made it clear that he wants this president tried and convicted before the election‚” Turley said‚ Newsweek reported. “The Supreme Court clearly didn’t share that urgency‚ it refused to do that‚ and so it’s not clear they’re gonna feel even greater urgency now.” In theory‚ if Trump won the White House‚ the Department of Justice could dismiss the charges‚ which Trump has argued are part of a “witch-hunt” and clear political targeting. The Department of Health and Human Services said it has only two pages of literature supporting Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine’s assessment that “gender-affirming care” is “necessary” for transgender youth‚ prompting allegations that the transgender-identifying Biden administration official has violated the Department’s scientific integrity policies by baselessly claiming it’s settled science. Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT)‚ a nonprofit watchdog‚ filed a Freedom of Information Act request for “records of scientific evidence‚ studies‚ and/or data to support the Assistant Secretary’s claim that ‘gender-affirming care is medically necessary‚ safe‚ and effective for trans and non-binary youth‚'” as well as for “records of surveys of medical professionals regarding the value and importance of ‘gender-affirming care’ for minor children.” In response‚ HHS produced only a single document—a two-page PDF called “Gender-Affirming Care and Young People.” The document is also on HHS’ website and is not a scientific study‚ but rather a brochure that declares that “research demonstrates that gender-affirming care improves the mental health and overall well-being of gender-diverse children.” It supports the statement with a footnote to a single study that showed that transgender-identifying young people were slightly less suicidal when receiving treatment — 51% who were receiving such care were suicidal‚ slightly lower than the 62% who weren’t receiving hormones but wanted them. The HHS document also states that puberty blockers are reversible and hormone therapy is partially reversible. HHS claimed that Levine — a man who believes he is a woman — made no other mentions of “gender-affirming care” in his emails‚ PPT said.  PPT on Tuesday wrote to the HHS Inspector General requesting that the office open an investigation‚ saying that Levine is violating the Department’s scientific integrity policies by making politically-motivated declarations and misrepresenting scientific evidence.  “This suggests that Assistant Secretary Levine has constantly‚ continually‚ ‘everywhere I go‚’ made unequivocal statements regarding the medical necessity‚ safety‚ and effectiveness of gender-affirming care based entirely upon a single two-page document‚” the letter said.  The complaint‚ obtained exclusively by The Daily Wire‚ says that government officials using their stature as science officials to make politically motivated statements and casting them as irrefutable science risks a further “loss of trust” in scientific institutions that would be “cataclysmic.” “When asked for ‘records of scientific evidence‚ studies‚ and/or data’ and for ‘records of surveys of medical professionals’ to support these claims‚ HHS was able to provide only a single information sheet – essentially a piece of marketing material with cherry-picked data and agenda-driven assertions‚” the complaint said. “This is the opposite of science and evidence-based policymaking and flies in the face of the agency’s pledge of ‘adherence to professional practices‚ ethical behavior‚ and the principles of honesty and objectivity when conducting‚ managing‚ using the results of‚ and communicating about science and scientific activities.'” Michael Chamberlain‚ the group’s director‚ said the agency’s failure to provide evidence for its claims explains “why trust in government health officials has evaporated.” “When we asked HHS to provide this data‚ all they offered was a single two-page information sheet with links to cherry-picked‚ often activist-generated research to justify irreversible and possibly dangerous measures‚” Chamberlain told The Daily Wire. “Meanwhile‚ European health services are actively withdrawing their support for these therapies. Even in the face of this‚ the Assistant Secretary accuses skeptics of ideological motives.” Levine has regularly used his role as a science official to declare that “the treatment options for gender-affirming care for transgender youth really are evidence-based‚” and opposition to it is “unconscionable.”  “Gender-affirming care for transgender youth is essential‚” he told Reuters. “There is no argument among medical professionals—pediatricians‚ pediatric endocrinologists‚ adolescent medicine‚ physicians‚ adolescent psychiatrists‚ psychologists‚ et cetera—about the value and the importance of gender-affirming care‚” Levine told NPR. The HHS website similarly hides behind “science‚” saying‚ “At HHS‚ we listen to medical experts and doctors‚ and they agree with us‚ that access to affirming care for transgender youth is essential.” Such assertions not only ignore a growing body of scientific literature and experts‚ but declare that they do not exist‚ PPT said.   “These statements not only do not acknowledge the contrary evidence‚ they assert that there is none‚” the group argues. “In spite of voluminous scientific evidence from around the world‚ as well as a growing number of policy decisions in other countries that run in the opposite direction‚ Adm. Levine has consistently made assertions indicating there is no data‚ studies‚ or evidence that contradicts or does not support these statements. The Assistant Secretary has also not only ignored the burgeoning controversy regarding the use of these treatments for minors‚ but has declared that it simply does not exist‚ that there is not a modicum of controversy in the scientific or medical communities regarding these treatments.” “In fact‚ the opposite appears to be true. There appears to be little evidence in support of the statements issued by Adm. Levine. HHS was provided the opportunity to present the evidence upon which these statements are based. Instead of producing reams of studies‚ data‚ and evidence‚ the agency was unable to deliver anything but a single two-page information sheet‚ with a few cherry-picked studies. It is difficult to imagine a more clear-cut case of an official violating HHS’s scientific integrity policies and undermining the state of science in pursuit of a controversial policy agenda.” PPT pointed the Inspector General to a significant volume of information rebutting the claim that there “is no argument among medical professionals” about gender transitioning. The New York Times this month highlighted children who said they were rushed into a gender transition and regretted it‚ and therapists who are now skeptical of an “affirming” model. Britain closed its transgender clinic and warned doctors that many youth are just going through a phase. Norway‚ Finland‚ and Sweden also found a lack of evidence that the benefits of hormones‚ puberty blockers‚ and surgeries outweigh the risks. The authors of a landmark 2019 study that was used to support the idea that gender transitions lead to mental stability later corrected their study‚ stating that their data “demonstrated no advantage of surgery in relation to subsequent mood or anxiety disorder-related health care visits.” To the contrary‚ the authors acknowledged‚ “individuals diagnosed with gender incongruence who had received gender-affirming surgery were more likely to be treated for anxiety disorders compared with individuals diagnosed with gender incongruence who had not received gender-affirming surgery.”

Many of us woke up to a shock this morning. Legendary country music icon Toby Keith passed on last night after a long battle with stomach cancer. The singer was surrounded by loving family and had a peaceful transition‚ according to a post on X (Twitter). Toby Keith was born Toby Keith Covel but dropped his surname in favor of the shortened stage name. Born on July 8‚ 1961‚ he made a life in Oklahoma‚ working in the oil fields after high school. Then he tried a short stint in semi-professional football with the Oklahoma City Drillers. By the mid-1980s‚ his focus became music. He played in a band and made the local bar circuit before hitting his stride. Toby Keith’s debut album with the Easy Money Band topped the charts in 1993 with Should’ve Been a Cowboy. The number one country song propelled him into the world of country music legends‚ but he never forgot his roots. He maintained his headquarters in his hometown. I’ve got him by the horns right now‚ so instead of just sitting around and waiting‚ we’re gonna get the band back together.” Toby Keith has been an advocate for those fighting cancer for a long time. When this homeless man discovered a pack of puppies after he noticed the death of their mother‚ he jumped into action. He rescued the dogs and took them straight to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society‚ with a note that “simultaneously broke and uplifted our hearts.” There had been a storm in the area‚ and leaving the puppies abandoned was a non-option. So this man gathered them up and took them straight to the shelter. The Note The homeless man wrote a powerful note to accompany the puppy rescue‚ reading: “Please help! I found these puppies sadly after noticing a local stray dog that I would often feed when I could‚ dead by the road. She had been hit by a car. I knew from feeding her that she had puppies somewhere and after searching where I would usually see her I found them. I’m sorry for leaving them like this but I myself am homeless and cannot afford to care for them. My heart shatters for them and their mother. I just want them to be given the chance their mother like myself‚ was never given. Please do not think poorly of me but it felt wrong leaving them alone in the cold waiting on a mother that would not be coming home. Sincerely‚ nameless man.” This homeless man saved these lives. At the time of the post‚ were undergoing necessary microchipping and vaccinations. The six puppies have now been posted for adoption as of February 1.
