Not Okay: Biden’s Demonstrably False Claim in Softball Yahoo! Finance Interview

Despite receiving a flattering question from an interviewer, President Joe Biden still faceplanted in his response.  During a May 14 interview with Yahoo! Finance, Biden falsely claimed that inflation had been wildly higher under his predecessor. His interviewer, who had promoted Bidenomics in his question, did not correct Biden. “I think inflation has gone slightly up. This was at 9% when I came in and it's now down about 3%,” Biden astonishingly said.  But it was not. In fact, inflation in January 2021 stood at only 1.4% but skyrocketed under Biden’s watch, reaching an average of 5.5% from February 2021 to April 2024. To make matters more absurd, Biden made this demonstrably false statement in response to a misleading question flattering his economic record.  The interviewer, Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi, entirely failed to mention the impact of COVID-19 shutdowns while giving Biden credit for creating 15 million jobs: “Mr. President, over 15 million jobs have been created under your watch, the unemployment rate under 4% for 27 straight months, the stock market at a record high. Why don't households feel wealthy right now?” While Biden chose to lie about inflation in response to this easy question, the fibs didn’t stop there.  The 81-year-old president also told Yahoo! Finance that wages were outpacing inflation, claiming, “But the fact is that I think people are just uncertain and that's why we got to be steady, stay the course and continue to produce these incredible jobs and the job—and by the way the pay for the jobs are, are outpacing the inflation rate they pay.” Real wages have actually fallen under Biden. Americans’ median weekly real earnings have declined from $373 in the first quarter of 2021 to $365 in the first quarter of 2024.   ICYMI: Bidenomics after 39 Months: Six Charts the Media Don’t Want You to See The White House has struggled to spin the president’s ludicrous statements as more and more bad economic news comes in.  During the May 16 edition of Your World with Neil Cavuto, White House Economic Adviser Jared Bernstein wildly ducked and dodged when confronted with Biden’s claims of taming 9% inflation.  See More: White House Economic Adviser Jared Bernstein Can’t Defend Biden Biden’s brief but disastrous Yahoo! Finance interview came the same day as the news that inflation had increased 0.5% in April, exceeding expectations.   Conservatives are under attack. Contact ABC News at (818) 460-7477, CBS News at (212) 975-3247 and NBC News at (212) 664-6192 and demand they tell the truth about the Bidenomics disaster.

Why Do Cats Fall Over When They Have a Harness? Possible Causes & Tips

Why Do Cats Fall Over When They Have a Harness? Possible Causes & Tips

Cats are more in touch with their wild side than we may realize. After all, humans domesticated them only 12,000 years ago versus the roughly 40,000 years we’ve befriended dogs. Our feline companions haven’t changed a lot during this time, either, with only 13 genes changing during the process. That information is significant since it can explain seemingly odd behavior, like falling over with a harness. Possible Causes Why Your Cat Falls Over When They Have a Harness 1. Instincts on the Job Our pets often act instinctively, driven largely by the survival of the fittest. If a trait gave an animal a competitive edge, it could live long enough to reproduce and pass on its genes. Species at a disadvantage without this characteristic would perish. The brains of our feline companions differ from wild cats, with reductions in regions associated with reactivity, fear, and aggression. These changes made them better suited as pets. Some are the result of overcoming their fear of living in proximity to humans. We also provided them with a reliable food source and shelter. Being nice to us also helps. A harness represents a stark departure from the basis of our relationship with felines. We usually let them do their own thing, ridding our homes of pests. Walking them is altogether different. Image Credit: Lanova Daria, Shutterstock 2. The Feline Experience Let’s look at wearing a harness from a cat’s perspective. Moving freely is what they’re used to, as they often move stealthily, stalking prey. Climbing into boxes for security is one thing since they choose to do it; putting them in a harness is another matter 1. It feels confining to the animal put in an unfamiliar situation. Escaping is instinctive. Survival is sometimes dependent on being cautious. Our pets are descendants of the African Wild Cat. While they are predators, they are also on the short end of the stick as prey. Wolves, coyotes, and raptors readily kill young felines. One survival strategy some animals use is to play dead. The goal is that a predator would drop them and give them a chance to escape. It’s a long shot, but possible. The other situation occurs between the mother and her kittens. When she wants to move them, she grabs the young in her mouth by the scruff of their neck. Again, we’re talking about an instinctive response to go limp. Fighting their mother could endanger their lives. It’s safer to go with the flow. After all, Mom always knows best. When your cat falls over when you snap on the harness, they are acting instinctively, whether it’s survival or their mother taking charge. It’s a natural response to an unnatural scenario. Getting Your Cat Used to a Harness It’s essential to get a harness made for a cat and not a dog. The varying body shapes will make it easy for a feline to slip a canine product. They look distinctively different if you compare them side by side. The next step is to let your kitty make the call. Let them investigate the harness on their own time. A cat will naturally back away from something new. Allow your pet to sniff and examine the item first. Your cat will be less likely to run from you when you bring out the harness if they know about the object on their terms. Make sure you have special treats on hand when it comes time to slip it on your cat. Felines are usually food-motivated. We suggest using something yummy they’ll only get when using the harness. You may find your pet is less likely to bolt and more tolerant of the harness. Place the harness on your cat’s body without tightening it. Don’t forget the treats. You have to overcome thousands of years of evolution. It’s going to take time and patience. Read your pet’s body language and respond accordingly. Don’t force your kitty to go along with your scheme. Strive to make it a positive experience so that you can take the next steps. Cats are intelligent. They just need to learn that wearing a harness isn’t a bad thing. They’ll likely welcome it if it means a walk outside and all the mental stimulation it provides. Of course, it’s better to start the process with a kitten than an adult. However, it’s not impossible. Follow your pet’s lead and stick with it. However, if they object too much, don’t hesitate to throw in the towel. Image Credit: Sergio Canovas, Shutterstock Final Thoughts Wearing a harness isn’t a natural thing for cats. Instincts kick in and guide their behavior. Your pet will likely lie down because their body is equating it with capture by a predator or their mother taking them by the scruff of the neck. Their response is adaptive and makes evolutionary sense. It can reduce the risk of injury or worse by responding this way. If you want to train your pet to wear a harness, it’s essential to be patient and try to make it a positive experience. Treats can work wonders. Let your kitty guide the process for the best chances of success. Can Hamsters Eat Plums? Vet-Reviewed Nutritional Facts & FAQ

Click to Skip Ahead Hamsters & Plums Dried Plums Concerns Benefits Hamsters are popular pets that are a lot of fun to own. One of the most fun things about hamsters is that there is a wide variety of foods that they are able to eat, so you can play around with foods to find your hammy’s favorites. If you’re currently in summertime stone fruit season, then you may be wondering what stone fruits are safe for your hamster. Plums are popular stone fruits that are typically easy to find in stores during stone fruit season, but are they safe for hamsters? The good news is that hamsters can eat plums. Can Hamsters Eat Plums? Yes, plums are a safe food for hamsters! There are a few things to keep in mind when offering plums to your hamster, though. Plums are high in sugar, which can lead to stomach upset and, in the long run, lead to obesity and serious medical conditions. They are also a relatively acidic fruit, which can also lead to stomach upset. It’s advised to limit plums to only a couple of bite-sized pieces once per week. Image Credit: Rebecca Matthews, Unsplash Can Hamsters Eat Dried Plums? While hamsters can technically eat dried plums because they are not a toxic food, it’s generally recommended to stick to fresh plums. Dried fruits are very high in sugar, and they are a more concentrated version of the fresh fruit. This means there is a higher risk of digestive upset in hamsters that eat dried plums instead of pieces of fresh plums. You also might recognize that dried plums are also known as prunes. Prunes are known for their ability to reduce constipation due to high concentrations of sorbitol having a laxative effect. If your hamster overeats prunes, then they are likely to develop diarrhea, which can be severe if they eat a significant amount. The diarrhea can quickly cause dehydration in such a small pet. Are Plums Good for Hamsters? Plums are not-toxic to hamsters but are not ideal due to the high sugar content. If your hamster is already on a good, balanced diet they have no nutritional need for plums. However, a small amount of fresh produce is encouraged from time to time as a treat. It is best to give a range of fruits and vegetables and a small amount of plum fruit can certainly be part of the rotation. As with any food, it is best to introduce slowly and monitor for any digestive upsets. Image Credit: Vinokurov Alexandr, Shutterstock In Conclusion Plums are a safe food for most hamsters. They should be fed in moderation in very small quantities, no more than once weekly. If overfed, plums can cause digestive upset, even leading to dangerous diarrhea. If your hamster is overfed plums frequently, then they can lead to obesity and other diseases associated with obesity and consuming too much sugar. 'The View' co-host Sara Haines proudly displays her ignorance and prejudices with anti-Catholic rant

The professional gossipers on Walt Disney Company's "The View" joined other liberals in a state of apoplexy this week over Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker's recent pro-family, pro-mother, and pro-life comments. One of the co-hosts most prickled by Butker's expression of popular conservative Christian beliefs and criticism of President Joe Biden was Sara Haines, a self-described "slightly left leaning moderate." 'This is a very extreme religion.' Former comedian Whoopi Goldberg starting things off with an uncharacteristic defense of dissenting views, attempting a comparison between the three-time Super Bowl champ's commencement speech at Benedictine College and former Super Bowl participant Colin Kaepernick's protest on the field. "Listen, I like when people say what they need to say. He's at a Catholic college. He's a staunch Catholic. These are his beliefs and he's welcome to 'em," said Goldberg. "I don't have to believe 'em. I don't have to accept them. … The same way we want respect when Colin Kaepernick takes a knee, we want to give respect to people whose ideas are different from ours." Haines responded, "In the spirit of freedom of speech, I don't want people shut down or fired for things they are willing to say. I will break with you on the comparison to Colin Kaepernick for this reason: Colin Kaepernick was standing up for the rights of many and saying in a social justice moment, 'This is a reminder that we're not there yet.'" Haines evidently discounted Butker's apparent willingness to speak up for the rights of the estimated 87,000-92,000 human beings executed every month in the United States. "What this man is doing is not just a devout Catholic," continued Haines. "This is someone who is practicing something called the Traditional Latin Mass, which is divergent from the majority of Catholics. It's compared to being cult-like and extremist like some religions in the Middle East and Asia." "This is a very extreme religion," added Haines. The Traditional Latin Mass, also known as the Tridentine Mass or the Traditional Rite, is a liturgical celebration using the Roman Missal of 1962 that Pope John Paul II signed off on and was again cleared for use by Pope Benedict XVI in his 2007 apostolic letter Summorum Pontificum. Pope Benedict XVI noted the two expressions of the rule of prayer found in the Second Vatican Council-era Roman Missal promulgated by Pope Paul VI and in the Roman Missal previously promulgated by Pope Pius V then revised by Pope John XXIII "will in no way lead to a division in the Church's lex credendi (rule of faith); for they are two usages of the one Roman rite." In other words, neither the rules of prayer nor the rules of faith in the TLM are "divergent" from the Ordinary Form of the Mass with which most practicing Catholics are familiar. "It is therefore permitted to celebrate the Sacrifice of the Mass following the typical edition of the Roman Missal, which was promulgated by Blessed John XXIII in 1962 and never abrogated, as an extraordinary form of the Church’s Liturgy," wrote the Roman pontiff. In the TLM, the priest faces the altar during the celebration along with the rest of the faithful. The Catholic News Agency noted that "[s]ome prayers are different, some prayers are expanded, and some prayers and responses are limited to the priest or those serving at the altar. Traditional Latin Mass communities follow a different liturgical calendar, too." Pope Francis has introduced stringent regulations for the TLM in the document "Traditionis custodes," but it contnues to be practiced around the world in those dioceses where bishops have granted permission. Haines' suggestion that the TLM is "cult-like" effectively amounts to a smear against traditional adherents worldwide as well as the historical celebration Catholic Mass predating the 1960s. Haines' attack on Butker also hinges on the erroneous presumption that his comments are informed by his participation in the TLM as opposed to the church's moral teaching, which has been codified in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and reiterated countless times by both the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith. In fact, Butker's comments about abortion and euthanasia align almost verbatim with the church's April document " Dignitas Infinita," which reiterates, that "all offenses against life itself, such as murder, genocide, abortion, euthanasia, and willful suicide' must be recognized as contrary to human dignity." Haines still had more to say. "And what bothers me about that as a Christian is that when people abuse Christianity, they often not only cherry pick from the Bible, they misinterpret and lie by omission, by taking out parts that would have explained something a little better," said the co-host. "So, what I can say to [Butker], as a Christian, is if you're using this to oppress people or hold them down you're not walking with Jesus. If you are using the religion, if you're more obsessed with the religious rituals and practices than you are with the word of Jesus, you're not walking with Jesus. And if you're using it for the judgment of others and as a weapon to beat people down you're also not walking with Jesus," said Haines. "So, I would really encourage him, really encourage him to find the best parts of faith and not diverge into extremist beliefs," concluded the TV personality, clasping her hands as if in prayer. — (@) While Haines' comment resonated poorly with various Catholics, others seized on another critique baked into her rant. Billy Gribbin, communications director for Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), said, "Hey @sarahaines, please expand on what's wrong with 'some religions in the Middle East.' Fascinated to know what you mean by that." Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
